Where Hope Meets You Series: The Story Continues with Kristy Bridgers :: [Episode 381]     Today, we are in week two of our special podcast series featuring Storytellers from our new devotional, Where Hope Meets You. In this episode, podcast host Katie Dunn reconnects with Kristy Bridgers, who first shared her powerful journey to sobriety with our Oxford community. You can listen to her story HERE.   Just as she originally shared her story, Kristy is refreshingly honest, vulnerable, and authentic as she reflects on all the Lord has taught her over the years. From laying down the masks she once wore, to letting go of striving and performance, to discovering the beauty of slowing down and becoming self-aware, Kristy offers a beautiful picture of the freedom found in Jesus Christ. Her story is a reminder that true healing begins when we allow God to meet us exactly where we are. _________________________________________________________   Give to StoryTellers Live in honor of Kristy and all of our season 9 storytellers!   Preorder our new devotional "Where Hope Meets You: A Daily Reminder of the Comfort and Confidence in God's Promises" by Katie Dunn!    YES, you can continue to hear NEW stories over the summer!  Join us "In the Room" on Patreon to access stories straight from our live gatherings around the country!     Purchase or listen to one of our When God Shows Up Bible studies~ Stories of Hope, Stories of Freedom, Stories of Faith   Want to see our upcoming events?  Click HERE!   Check out all of our live speaking engagement opportunities on our website.   Sign up to receive StoryTellers Live's weekly newsletter for upcoming events, new podcast episodes, details on our live gatherings taking place across the country, and much more!! In this episode of the Story Engine Podcast, I sit down with Carolee Moore, an expert storyteller who helps corporate leaders and subject matter experts find their voice, get on the right podcasts, and turn their visibility into real business growth. What stood out to me most is how Carolee doesn't just focus on booking interviews—she helps people reconnect with their authentic voice after years of operating inside corporate expectations. We explore how storytelling, when done right, becomes the bridge between deep expertise and real influence. Carolee shares her journey from growing up in Jamaica surrounded by storytelling, to navigating corporate America, to building (and walking away from) a successful marketing agency that no longer aligned with her. We also dive into how podcast guesting can fast-track credibility in B2B spaces, why so many experts struggle with visibility despite their experience, and how finding your voice can literally "change the vote" in the rooms that matter most. If you've ever felt unseen, under-recognized, or stuck playing small—this conversation will show you a new path forward. 00:49 – From Jamaica to the U.S.: The Roots of a Storyteller 02:09 – Corporate Life, Structure, and Suppressed Creativity 03:30 – Building (and Closing) a Multi-Six-Figure Agency 04:24 – The Pivot: From Marketing to Podcast Guesting 05:31 – The Types of Experts She Works With 07:41 – Why Podcasting Works for High-Level Experts 09:00 – Turning Stories Into Credibility and Sales 11:14 – The Hidden Struggles of High-Achieving Experts 12:46 – Watching Less Experienced People Win (and Why It Hurts) 14:08 – The Real Transformation: Finding Your Authentic Voice 16:46 – Integrating Visibility With Sales and Business Strategy 17:23 – The Boardroom Moment That Changed Everything 19:00 – Speaking Up and Changing the Vote 20:58 – Learning to Own Your Voice 21:39 – Underpricing and Positioning Lessons as an Agency Owner 22:46 – A Major Win: Earning a Year's Salary in One Day 23:30 – Learning to Celebrate and Step Away 24:44 – The Story Reflection: From Silence to Impact

Hello to you listening in Charlottesville, Virginia! Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Motivate Your Monday and your host, Diane Wyzga. Here's the thing: I've hit The Dip. That place in most creative endeavors where you look around and wonder: Does anybody care? Does my work matter? What am I doing and for whom? Believe it or not, The Dip is a precious time. Now you get to dig deep and consider what's it for, who's it for, where is it needed? Not everyone wants or needs what you have to offer; but someone does! Lots of someones. Some years ago I was working as a shepherd at a fiber farm on the outskirts of Charlottesville, Virginia. Our neighbor raised organic goats for meat. Joe sold the meat to customers from the D.C Beltway area who knew a good thing and were happy to pay for it. But Joe wanted more. He was ready to venture out and teach people about the value of eating what he raised: organic food, sustainable, humanely harvested, no junk, and lots of pasture to graze. But where to go? He fixes up an old school bus as a traveling kitchen and visits each and every state and local fair in Virginia. Why? People go to fairs to eat food! But not his food. Fairs offer a lot of cheap fried food: onion blossoms, corn dogs, curly cut fries. Joe is offering 3 items: organic goat kabobs, organic goat curry and an organic goat skillet burger with all the fixins. While his prices are in keeping with what he's trying to sell, they are several times more than the competition at the fair. The food is foreign. No one will eat it except on a dare. Now what? Instead of lowering his prices or changing venues Joe decides to dig in and work on changing attitudes and appetites. At each fairgrounds he stands outside the mobile kitchen and shares his story: why goats, where they are pastured, who takes care of them, how they live, what makes this meat special, and why it's worth it. He prints up a flyer with his story and hands that out, too. Person by person the story draws them in, the goat meat dinners keep them there. It took time but he believed in what he was doing and for whom he was doing it. If this is you here's a tip from Joe:  “Some will. Some won't. Who's next?” As I repeat Joe's words I'm working my way out of The Dip. “Come for the stories; stay for the magic!”   CTA: If you want the story that will change minds, attitudes, behaviors, let's work together.  You're always welcome: "Come for the stories - Stay for the magic!" Many writers assume that Christian stories are defined by clean content, religious themes, or explicit references to faith. But a Christian worldview is not a genre. In this episode of The Storyteller's Mission, Zena Dell Lowe explains why many faith-based stories feel preachy, emotionally shallow, or dramatically ineffective despite their good intentions. More importantly, she reveals how writers can create stories that communicate biblical truth at a deep structural level without relying on overt religious content.Through examples from Die Hard, Lethal Weapon, Strong Fathers, Strong Daughters, and modern storytelling trends, you'll discover the difference between worldview and genre, truth and signaling, and why some secular stories often resonate more deeply than many faith-based films.Topics Covered:• Christian worldview vs Christian genre • Why faith-based films often struggle • Storytelling and moral truth • Die Hard and biblical morality • Lethal Weapon as moral storytelling • Principles vs rules in story • The problem with preachy writing • Writing stories that resonate • Biblical worldview in screenwriting • Christian storytelling and cultureCHAPTERS00:00 A Secular Story Can Tell More Truth 01:12 What People Mean by "Christian Film" 02:00 Why Die Hard Matters 03:00 Principles vs Rules 05:30 Compassion vs Justice 06:30 What a Worldview Really Is 07:10 Genre vs Worldview 08:20 The Strong Fathers, Strong Daughters Example 10:30 Why Nuance Matters 11:10 Secular Stories and Biblical Truth 11:25 Lethal Weapon vs Modern Storytelling 12:40 The Postmodern Worldview Shift 14:00 What Writing a Christian Worldview Actually Means 15:25 Stop Trying to Write Christian Stories 15:50 Why the Faith-Based Industry Struggles 17:35 What This Means for Writers 19:45 We Need More Truthful StoriesWatch this episode on YouTubeFree Resources for Writers:Seven Deadly Plot Points FREE TRAINING VIDEO Free Video Tutorial for ScreenwritingSign up for The Storyteller's Digest, my exclusive bi-monthly newsletter for writers and storytellers. Hello to you listening in Schaumburg, Illinois! Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday and your host, Diane Wyzga. One summer afternoon Nasruddin was relaxing under a massive walnut tree. He looks up at the tiny walnuts hanging above him and then to a nearby garden patch of ripe watermelons growing on small vines. Nasruddin looks up to the sky and says, “Lord, your creation is wonderful, but sometimes illogical. Why would you hang tiny nuts on a giant tree, and huge melons on a thin, frail vine?" Just then, a walnut falls from the branches and hits him squarely on the head. Nasruddin says, “Forgive my desire to be right. If you had hung watermelons on this tree, I would be dead!" Maybe like me you've had practice with being a know-it-all, all the time. Let's face it: the need to be right is exhausting! So, why do we cling to being right? Culture, schooling, religion, family, and community all play a part in teaching us that being right is all about being perfect and perfect is desirable. But what has perfect ever done for you? Over time I've come face-to-face with this: I don't really know as much as I think I do. I concede to watermelons on the ground and walnuts in a tree. Story Prompt: Think of a time when you were okay to let go of the need to be right, to know it all, have it all, and be it all. What happened next? Write that story and share it out loud! You're always welcome: "Come for the stories - Stay for the magic!" What do restaurant owners really think about customers? And what happens when a lifelong people-person—raised in the restaurant business, trained in psychology, and now leading tourism and community development—sits down for an honest conversation about modern life, parenting, hospitality, and America? In this episode of I Like That Story, Jeff Gould talks with Brittany Wagner, Tourism Director for Visit Yankton and a leader with Yankton Thrive in historic Yankton, South Dakota. Brittany's organization has invited Jeff to bring his acclaimed America's Story presentation to Yankton as part of the community's celebration surrounding America's 250th birthday—an especially meaningful event for one of the most historic communities in the Dakota Territory. Brittany shares her unique journey: * Growing up in her family's restaurant from the age of three * Working more than a decade as a mental health therapist for youth and families * Owning and operating a restaurant during the COVID era * Transitioning into tourism, storytelling, and community building through Visit Yankton and Yankton Thrive Together, Jeff and Brittany dive into: * The hidden psychology of restaurants and tipping * Restaurant cleanliness secrets diners never notice * Parenting in the smartphone and social media era * Gentle parenting vs. traditional parenting * Mental health challenges facing young people today * Why family dinners still matter * Storytelling, history, and preserving family memories * The beauty and challenges of small-town life * Why Yankton and the Missouri River region still matter in America's story The episode is funny, thoughtful, nostalgic, and surprisingly personal — blending restaurant stories, parenting insights, psychology, American history, and candid reflections about modern culture and human connection. Outside of work, Brittany and her husband Josh are raising four children while balancing the beautiful chaos of family life, youth sports, travel, hiking, and small-town living. This episode is a personal and confronting reflection on how quickly even a cyberaware professional can lose control of a long-standing Gmail account. What began as a seemingly legitimate brand collaboration unfolded into a carefully orchestrated phishing attack that removed all security measures within seconds. The experience highlights how modern cybercrime blends patience, credibility signals, automation and psychological triggers to bypass even cautious users. The phishing grooming process and credibility signals used • The red flags hidden in plain sight • What happened in the 60-second account takeover  • The recovery journey and escalation through professional networks  • Three essential security measures: 2FA, passkeys and backup codes This story is not about fear. It is about awareness, practical action and understanding how sophisticated attacks have become. The lesson is simple: five minutes of security setup can prevent four days of stress. Hello to you listening in Bridgeport, Connecticut! Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories from Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey and your host, Diane Wyzga. On my Camino pilgrimage I received a small paper star  from someone I did not know to carry with me as a blessing, to remember that someone was watching over me as I walked. In turn, I'm sharing some blessings with you as you walk in your day: BLESSING FOR YOU May you eat an unfamiliar dessert in a foreign land at least once in your life. May you wake up to salsa music one summer morning, and start your day dancing. May you mix stripes with plaids, floral patterns with checks,  mismatch your socks, and add a floppy hat. May you be greeted by 20 flowers, 15 trees, 10 clouds and at least 1 extra-solar planet. If you bury your face in your tear-stained pillow and beg the Universe to please send you your soul mate, make sure you haven't slurred your teary words so they sound like "cell mate." May you dream of taking a trip to the moon in a gondola powered by firecrackers and wild swans. May you actually kneel and kiss the earth now and again. There isn't a question that Steve Sparks is one of our favorite former guests, and now he's BACK for more laughs. The knuckleballer turned broadcaster remains one of Tim's favorite storytellers in the game today. He kicks things off with an impression, and yes, it's fantastic. Plus, he shares a hilarious Richie Sexson story that you'll be talking about long after the episode ends. Ever wanted to win a car? So did one former player, who was VERY disappointed after an All Star Game. We also show some love to our friends at GameChanger. We're grateful for their support of the show. And there's plenty of appreciation for the late, great Stan Musial, including a story about a couple of kids who had absolutely no idea who he was. We wrap things up with Pete Rose and Bob Feller. That's a pretty strong finish, right? A huge thank you to Steve for taking time out of his busy schedule to join our little show. Most importantly, thank you for being a part of our family! Hello to you listening in Kyle, Canada!  Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Motivate Your Monday & your host, Diane Wyzga. A few years ago Paul King, writing from somewhere in America, wished for a Solidarity Saturday, and I created a podcast episode. Reading it anew my pulse went all fizzy with a plan to re-establish this simple collective action. I'd like to see every Saturday be "Solidarity Saturday." Each Saturday, at 10am in every time zone on earth, we all do a very simple act: Step outside our homes into the open and stand in silence for 10 minutes. Just show ourselves. Stand with neighbors. Come out and be seen together, our presence a protest. All over earth on every Saturday as each time zone hits 10am. Billions of us just stepping outside, showing ourselves, showing evil that we oppose it! Just walk out the door into the open. Not hard. CTA: Right Here. Right Now. Spread the good word like grape jelly on a toddler! Invite your friends and rellies all over the world to step outside and stand together at 10am in your time zone 10 minutes on each Solidarity Saturday. Let me know, from where will you be joining us?  You're always welcome: "Come for the stories - Stay for the magic!" To ILLUMINAI, AI is a powerful brush, not the artist. They take deliberate steps to ensure human creative ownership remains the heartbeat of every frame.By integrating AI ethically, Jesse and his team can expedite the technical complexities of production without ever sacrificing the exceptional quality and emotional depth that families expect. Perhaps I should call my new program AI Storytelling because AI is the key selling point for almost all programs and courses in today's world. But, alas, my course isn't really about AI. It's about the human touch, the stories we pass on to each other that make people respond.Well, sadly, I didn't make the case for the value of my Storyteller Secrets course. Obviously, that's my problem. The reality is that it's not worth it to me to present a long, complex, and life-changing course if I'm not recompensed. I have many other things I can do. We all make choices.I know the price of $497 is high for many of you in this world of high gas prices and high food costs. So, I thought I'd at least give you the opportunity to buy the first lesson in the course for only $10. Storyteller and librarian Roslyn Quin joins Liz and Ben to discover there’s nowt as queer as folklore, as we discuss Terry Pratchett’s 2008 (and 2009 and 2014) collaboration with folklorist Jacqueline Simpson, The Folklore of Discworld. Wherever there are folk, you’ll find folklore: the stories, traditions, superstitions and more that tell people who they are, and make up their world. The curious thing is, the folklore of a flat world swimming through space on the back of a giant turtle turns out to have a considerable amount in common with that of a round world orbiting a star… The Folklore of Discworld is part a greatest hits collection of Terry’s imagination, and part a summary of the Roundworld lore that inspired or at least resembles its Discworld counterparts. Like The Science of Discworld books it’s a collaboration with an expert in the field – in this case, Dr Jacqueline Simpson of the Folklore Society. Unlike those books, however, there’s no neat division into fiction and non-fiction chapters, with the whole thing written in one voice. It both assumes a fair amount of interest in the Discworld, but also repeats lots of lore about creatures, people and places that fans will probably know, so it’s the discussion and the comparison to Roundworld – and especially British – folklore that makes it shine. What are your favourite bits of folklore here, whether from the Disc or from Roundworld? Do you feel like this has Pratchett’s voice, or is it mostly Simpson’s? Was there enough detail, or were you yearning for more? Which of the versions did you read? And what folklore would you love to see included if it was ever revised again? Join our online conversation via email or by incanting the magic phrase #Pratchat93 on the social media platform of your choice (assuming it’s one where we are). Guest Roslyn Quin (she/they) is a storyteller, librarian, puppeteer, actor, clown and artist who began her performance career with the 2012 solo storytelling show The Red Bird and Death. Since then she’s performed as part of festivals, cabaret and burlesque nights, on podcasts (including the hit Australian audio comedy Love and Luck), and wherever two or more are gathered together and ready to hear a tale. These days you’ll mostly find Ros telling stories to children of all ages at Yarra Plenty Regional Libraries. As mentioned in the episode, she’ll also be telling stories at 6, 7 and 8 PM on Friday 3 July for Melbourne’s free Firelight Festival at Docklands Park! You can also find out more about Ros at roslynquin.com. You can find episode notes and errata on our web site. Next month it’s back to the pixels one more time, as we try and solve three missing persons cases at once in Perfect Entertainment’s third and final Discworld adventure game, Discworld Noir! Send us your questions via email (chat@pratchatpodcast.com), use the hashtag #Pratchat94 on social media, or just turn up at our office acting mysterious. That always works. Welcome to episode #1039 of Thinking With Mitch Joel (formerly Six Pixels of Separation). I believe that communication has always been one of the most valuable skills in business. But in an era of AI-generated content, algorithmic feeds, podcasts, newsletters, keynote stages, short-form video and endless digital noise, it may be becoming even more important. Few people have spent more time studying what makes ideas resonate than Carmine Gallo. A communication coach, author, and instructor in executive education at Harvard, Carmine is best known for bestselling books including Talk Like TED, The Storyteller's Secret, The Presentation Secrets of Steve Jobs and many more. His latest project, Viral Voices - From TED Talks To TikTok, Persuasive Communication Skills For The Digital Age, is an audio-original experience that explores what great communicators can teach us about influence, storytelling, and audience engagement in a rapidly changing media landscape. In this conversation, Carmine argues that while the tools of communication have evolved dramatically, the human brain has not. Drawing on research from neuroscience, psychology, evolutionary biology, and his conversations with communicators ranging from business leaders to digital creators, he explains why storytelling remains one of humanity's most powerful technologies. The discussion explores why movement captures attention, why narrative structures continue to dominate modern platforms, and why great communicators are made through deliberate practice rather than born with natural talent. Carmine also shares his AMP framework for communication improvement: Ability, Message, and Practice. Along the way, the conversation examines the opportunities and challenges created by AI, including the growing tension between polished machine-generated content and authentic human expression. At a moment when everyone has access to powerful communication tools, Carmine makes a compelling case that imagination, personal experience, and genuine human insight are becoming the ultimate differentiators. Enjoy the conversation… Running time: 1:00:47. Hello from beautiful Montreal. Listen and subscribe over at Apple Podcasts. Listen and subscribe over at Spotify. Hello to you listening in Pristina, Kosovo! Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday and your host, Diane Wyzga. The things we take for granted, like a song we've heard over and over. I wondered: what's the story behind “I Won't Back Down” by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers?  "I Won't Back Down" was born from sheer defiance after a targeted act of arson in May 1987 burned Tom Petty's Los Angeles home to the ground. Petty refused to move away. Instead, he rebuilt on the same plot of land and channeled his trauma into a song of defiance. The message of resilience in the face of adversity became a universal mantra for overcoming any struggle.     Maybe like me you've acted against your own better wisdom, saying 'yes' instead of 'no', going along to get along, or something else. You know what I'm talking about. Maybe like me you finally figured out a better way to live. We've got just one life. In a world that keeps pushing us around we stand our ground, we won't back down! Story Prompt: When have you backed down because someone or something was pushing you around? No more.  You know how to stand your ground! Write that story and share it out loud!   You're always welcome: "Come for the stories - Stay for the magic!" Speaking of magic, I hope you'll subscribe, share a 5-star rating and nice review on your social media or podcast channel of choice, bring your friends and rellies, and join us! EPISODE 722 - Andrey Medina - Screenwriter and Author - Sci-Fi storyteller who's fascinated by the questions that don't have easy answersIn this episode, Dave sits down with author and screenwriter Andrey Medina to explore how imagination, movement, and instability as a child sparked a lifelong inner world that eventually led him to science fiction. Andrey explains that he was not so much “called” to authorship as he was found by science fiction itself, discovering in it a way to imagine alternatives to reality. Influences like Tolkien and Asimov did more than shape his taste; they fundamentally shaped how he thinks about worlds, systems, and psychohistory-level questions of how reality can be simulated and reimagined.Andrey shares honest, practical advice for aspiring writers: finish something. Even a three to five page story matters, because reaching the end delivers pride and a deeper sense of catharsis as both writer and reader of your own work. He describes how completing a story can move you to tears or leave you breathless, and why that emotional climax is the best encouragement to keep going. From there, the second crucial step is to show your work to someone. Even if the reader does not fully connect, the simple fact that they speak your character's name out loud proves that someone else now carries a piece of your imagination in their mind. He also talks about setting himself a week-long challenge during Covid to write a short story every day, emphasizing that even “crappy” stories hold fragments of gold worth revisiting later. The conversation turns to craft and career. Andrey talks about mining small but powerful ideas from imperfect drafts, like a story of a boy who believes he is a robot and a father forced to deconstruct life into tiny, teachable truths. He discusses writing both for himself and for readers, consciously merging the stories he loves with clear commercial awareness, particularly in his young adult speculative dystopian thrillers. Drawing on his screenwriting background, he explains how thinking in scenes, locations, conflict, and emotional reaction shapes his novels, and how good dialogue functions as action rooted in motivation and emotional baggage.Andrey introduces his series, beginning with The Conduit Trials, featuring Ren, a sixteen year old rebel in a totalitarian regime whose botched mission leads to a death sentence and a shocking offer to become a fighter pilot for the very system she opposes. He teases themes of moral ambiguity, propaganda, and critical thinking in a world where nothing is fully right or fully wrong, and shares how recent chaotic global events helped fuel the emotional “lava” behind the story. He wants readers to be fully immersed in Ren's world while constantly asking themselves, “What would I do in her place?”He also explains how listeners can currently read The Conduit Trials as a free ARC through BookSprout, join his mailing list via a link at the end of the book, and stay updated on future installments and launches.Key takeaway: Finish something, no matter how small, and let it be seen. Completion gives you emotional proof that you are a storyteller, and every shared story, even an imperfect one, plants your imagined world in another person's mind.https://www.facebook.com/andreymedina84Send us Fan MailSupport the show___https://livingthenextchapter.com/podcast produced by: https://truemediasolutions.ca/Coffee Refills are always appreciated, refill Dave's cup here, and thanks!https://buymeacoffee.com/truemediaca

What happens when a man walks through addiction, trauma, broken relationships, and a near-death experience—and comes out the other side with clarity, faith, and purpose? In this long-form conversation, Jeff Gould sits down with longtime friend and broadcaster Bill Palanuk for one of the most honest and revealing discussions you'll hear. This is not a surface-level interview. It's a deep, unfiltered conversation about the realities of addiction, the weight of personal history, and the difficult but powerful process of rebuilding a life from the ground up. Bill's story spans decades. From his early years in radio, living the fast-paced “on-air personality” lifestyle, to quietly battling nicotine addiction, alcohol dependency, and internal struggles that few people ever saw. He opens up about what it took to finally say enough—walking away from smoking, chewing tobacco, and drinking, not through perfection, but through a moment of truth that forced him to confront who he had become. But that was only the beginning. Shortly after making those changes, Bill suffered a stroke—an event that stripped away his ability to speak, process language, and function normally. What followed was not just physical recovery, but a profound internal shift. During that experience, Bill describes a level of peace and calm that fundamentally changed how he views life, death, and everything in between. As doctors searched for answers, they uncovered something even more shocking: a hole in his heart that had been there since birth. A condition that, in many ways, explained a lifetime of symptoms and struggles. The procedure to repair it, the complications that followed, and the long road back add another layer to an already extraordinary story. Throughout this conversation, Bill also speaks candidly about PTSD, family trauma, and the long-term effects of growing up in an environment shaped by addiction. He shares how those experiences influenced his behavior, his identity, and the way he navigated the world for years. This is also a conversation about transformation. Bill talks about sobriety—not just as the absence of alcohol, but as a way of thinking, living, and processing life differently. He breaks down the daily practices that keep him grounded: gratitude, faith, discipline, and connection. He shares the principles he now lives by—God, love, forgiveness, gratitude, serenity, courage, and wisdom—and how those guide his decisions today. There are also moments of reflection on friendship, storytelling, and the lost art of truly listening. Jeff and Bill revisit their early days in broadcasting, the discipline required in radio, and the difference between interviews and real conversations. This episode is not rushed. It takes its time. And it rewards you for staying with it. If you've ever struggled with addiction, faced a health scare, questioned your path, or wondered if it's too late to change—this story will meet you where you are. Subscribe for more long-form conversations that go beyond the surface and explore what really shapes a life. Hello to you listening in Singapore! Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Wednesdays on Whidbey and your host, Diane Wyzga. One night Nasrudin was on his hands and knees under a street lamp. Friends finding him there asked: What are you doing? Nasrudin tells them he's looking for the keys to his house. His friends help him look for the dropped keys. This goes on for some time until one friend asks: Nasrudin, are you sure this is where you dropped them?  Oh no, Nasrudin replied, I dropped them across the road, but it was too dark to see; so I came over here where the light is better... Maybe like me this is how it goes for you, too: looking for Life in all the wrong places. But my Life knows me and where I should be headed; in time it nudges me in the right direction back to my true self.   Practical Tip: We can do ourselves a world of good to remember that our true selves began as open and curious, whole and wonderful. Instead of searching in the dark for how to become someone else, we could turn our face to the light of day and cherish the never before, never after, one-of-a-kind being we already are. Imagine that! You're always welcome: "Come for the stories - Stay for the magic!" Maybe like me you've failed more times than you can count. Is it possible to use our failures to encourage a new opportunity, a do-over even? Yes. How do I know? I've learned from the best! Wile E. Coyote is the quintessentially resilient cartoon character who pursues Road Runner with disastrous gadgets purchased from a fictional mail-order company called ACME. Giant magnets, rocket-powered roller skates, earthquake pills, invisible paint, and movable tunnel entrances always backfire. Coyote never ever catches the Road Runner, but does that stop him? No! Do we want Coyote to catch Road Runner? No! We want to see what Coyote will do next. Failure stops creativity when we or someone else says "Give up!" But! When we refuse to give up failure encourages creativity because that's the job of failure. Never underestimate the power of your persistent efforts to begin anew. Life expects do-overs! What the Feeling Body KnowsA brief note before we begin. The next several episodes have been created in advance, during a period when I am away on pilgrimage. I am not tracking the daily news cycle or what is unfolding in real time. If significant things have shifted in the collective field since these episodes were recorded, I trust you to hold what I offer here alongside what you are actually living. The archetypal patterns are reliable. The specific events that express them are yours to track.___There is a quality of turning inward this week.Mercury, the Communicator and Storyteller, enters Cancer on Monday and will remain there, through retrograde, until August 9. Nearly ten weeks of the mind moving through the waters of feeling, memory, ancestral knowing, and the interior life. This is not a week for speed or surface. It is a week for depth and for what the feeling body knows that the analytical mind cannot easily reach.Key Cycles This Week:Monday, June 1: Mercury enters Cancer, remaining there through retrograde motion until August 9. Mercury in Cancer thinks through feeling and communicates through attunement. For those trained by dominant culture to distrust feeling as a source of knowing, this extended transit is an invitation into a different way of understanding. What do you know through your body? Through what arises when you are still enough to listen? Simply notice the shift as it begins.Tuesday, June 2: Sun in Gemini sextiles Saturn in Aries. A grounding thread. The Conscious Self connects easily with the Structurer, offering clarity and form. A good day for honest communication and bringing practical shape to what the interior work of the week is revealing. Just enough groundedness to keep the inward turn from becoming untethered.Wednesday, June 3: Mercury in Cancer squares Neptune in Aries. Just days into Cancer, Mercury meets the Dissolver. Blur, emotional porousness, the thinning of boundaries between what is yours and what belongs to the collective field. This is not a transit for important decisions. It is a transit for poetry, for dream, for the kind of knowing that arrives sideways through image and metaphor. There is information in the blur. It simply speaks a different language than analysis.Larger FrameMercury in Cancer for nearly ten weeks, including a retrograde cycle, is asking something that dominant culture rarely supports. It is asking us to slow down enough to feel. To treat emotional intelligence not as a liability but as a genuine form of knowing. The collective shadow surfacing in these times lives not only in institutions and policies. It lives in bodies. In inherited emotional patterns. In what has been passed down through generations without being named. Mercury in Cancer, over these coming weeks, may bring some of that into language. Not all at once. Not cleanly. But with the particular tenderness that feeling-based knowing carries when given enough space.Reflection QuestionsWhat does my feeling body know right now that my analytical mind has been moving too fast to hear?As Mercury settles into Cancer for an extended stay, what emotional truths, family patterns, or questions of belonging are quietly asking for my attention? When the blur arrives and clarity dissolves, can I stay with it long enough to let it speak in its own language? This is a quieter week in register, though not in times. The invitation is inward. Into feeling. Into what the body knows. Into the long memory that Cancer carries.Let yourself be moved. Let what is tender have room. The web of life speaks through the heart as much as through the mind.Podcast poem: Daybreak by Galway KinnellSupport the showGo to Sheila's website for information for transformational resources: https://www.ontheedgesofchange.comThis episode was co-created with generative AI, engaged as a soul-aligned ally in service of transformation. Hello to you listening in Mohali, Punjab, India! Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday and your host, Diane Wyzga. My friend Gene was mulling whether stuff he knows should be passed on in stories to his grandchildren. Nah. The best way for children to learn is to experience the ups and downs of Life themselves. So, no shared stories. I see it differently: You are not now nor will you ever be the only person who wonders if their experiences, trials, tribulations, mistakes, misgivings, victories, and so on are of use to someone else. Here me when I say, stories are the best teachers. I craft these episodes in the hope that someone needs and wants them, will be helped by them, maybe even have a better life because something I said answered the question: “What! You, too? I thought I was the only one!” [C.S. Lewis] People are people; they will still touch fire to see if it's hot. Our stories might just keep them from being burned alive. Story Prompt: When have you shared a Life experience of yours in a story that helped another person? How do you know? Write that story and share it out loud! You're always welcome: "Come for the stories - Stay for the magic!" Speaking of magic, I hope you'll subscribe, share a 5-star rating and nice review on your social media or podcast channel of choice, bring your friends and rellies, and join us! You will have wonderful company as we continue to walk our lives together.
