For Freedom - Grace, the gift, and the foolish Galatians
Sin usually begins small and, if embraced, evolves into something destructive. So far, we have watched the rise of David; he's been faithful to God, conquered kingdoms, and lived a life of triumph in the Lord. However, we can see in this moment that none of us are immune to the traps of sin. If we are not vigilant, we are all capable of succumbing to temptation. The question is, do our deepest sins define who we are in the eyes of the Lord? How do we discover peace in the midst of shame, and lasting freedom in God's forgiveness? What if we are the ones who have been violated? How are we to think of God and others when we have been violated? Visit us online at: www.RenewalChurch.net

The genealogy of Jesus, if you're like me it's the part of the story that you've looked at but never really read. The surprising thing is that Matthew, a good Jew, throws a curveball to his patriarchal upbringing. He lists forty men and then blindsides his readers by including four women. Having experienced the love and grace of Jesus Matthew knew that these four women would explain who Jesus was and what he was going to do. Check this out.
David was a man after God's heart, but he sinned in a dramatic and public way. Bathsheba is mentioned in Matthew to highlight this story. God brings hope and redemption through pain and rebellion.
Our mission at Community Church of Greenwood is to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ and live in full devotion to Him. We want to help people far from God to experience new life in Jesus Christ.
Rahab was a Gentile woman included in the genealogy of Jesus. She is lauded for her faith also in the Book of Hebrews. Matthew included her to establish the kind of faith that would be needed as well as reminder that Jesus is for everyone.
Matthew 1:1-6, 18-25 The Hidden Hope of Christmas
With an eye to our guilty genealogy, we should respond to the promises of God fulfilled in Jesus.
Have you ever felt like you're missing out on something big? Have you ever felt left out during Christmas? As we continue to look at the story of Jesus's family ties, we take a closer look at the Biblical characters of Rahab and Ruth. Though it seemed as if both Rahab and Ruth were being left out of God's plan, we find that God uses their stories to show us that He is always working to bring broken sinners into His family.
