(The Signs of the Times, 8 de noviembre, 1899, "The Seal of God—No. 2", párr.

Prayer is hard work. 2. We are directed away from genuine prayer. 3. We are not always convinced of the reality of the power of prayer.- Verse 2 and 3 - The Characters- The Judge Unjust No fear of God No regard for people- The widow: Powerless Persistent Bold- Verse 4 and 5 - The Appeal- Persistence in prayer reflects faith, not frustration.- “How many times we ask of God and have not because we do not wait long enough at the door? We knock a time or two at the gate of Mercy and as no friendly messenger opens the door, we go our ways. Too many prayers are like boys' runaway knocks—given and then the giver is away before the door can be opened.” (Spurgeon)- Verse 6 and 7 - The Contrast- God: Attentive Powerful Just- Jesus uses the formula of “How Much More”.- Verse 8 - The Warning- Jesus ties persistence in prayer to genuine faith.- When we persist in prayer we become petitioners of righteousness, not merely shoppers of blessings.Oasis Church exists to Worship God, Equip the believers, and Reach the lost.We are led by Pastor Nate Clarke and are located in Henrico north of Richmond, VA.STAY CONNECTEDInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/oasischurchva/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/OasisChurchRVA/Website: https://oasischurch.onlineOasis Church exists to Worship God, Equip the believers, and Reach the lost.We are led by Pastor Nate Clarke and are located in Richmond, VA.Stay Connected:Website: https://oasischurch.online Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/oasischurchva/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/OasisChurchRVA/

Send us a textIn a time when Pharaoh was killing all of the Jewish children two ordinary Hebrews are obedient to God. They trust God and put this child who is Moses in a little ark that reminds us of the ark that Noah the first savior of the human race and his family were protected in. God uses these two ordinary people to raise up a redeemer for His people. Moses is a picture of the greater redeemer Jesus. It is pretty ironic in one sense they were obeying Pharaoh's command to throw the children in the river. But it was also God's plan to save Moses and use him to deliver the Israelites from slavery, a picture of our human condition without Christ. God's hand is seen so incredibly in this story. The very people who hate the Israelites become the savior of the one who would destroy their nation and show God is mightier than any of their so called gods and even pay Moses' mother to raise him. Do you and I trust God no matter what? Do we obey Him even when His commands make no sense to us? Do we remember that God can use anybody? We need to remember that God knows all and is always working out His Will behind the scenes even when we can't see it. Exodus 2:1-9 And a man of the house of Levi went and took as wife a daughter of Levi. 2 So the woman conceived and bore a son. And when she saw that he was a beautiful child, she hid him three months. 3 But when she could no longer hide him, she took an ark of bulrushes for him, daubed it with asphalt and pitch, put the child in it, and laid it in the reeds by the river's bank. 4 And his sister stood afar off, to know what would be done to him. 5 ¶ Then the daughter of Pharaoh came down to bathe at the river. And her maidens walked along the riverside; and when she saw the ark among the reeds, she sent her maid to get it. 6 And when she had opened it, she saw the child, and behold, the baby wept. So she had compassion on him, and said, "This is one of the Hebrews' children." 7 Then his sister said to Pharaoh's daughter, "Shall I go and call a nurse for you from the Hebrew women, that she may nurse the child for you?" 8 And Pharaoh's daughter said to her, "Go." So the maiden went and called the child's mother. 9 Then Pharaoh's daughter said to her, "Take this child away and nurse him for me, and I will give you your wages." So the woman took the child and nursed him.Mark 8:36 "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. Have you trusted Him as your Savior? He can Save you if You ask Him based on His death, burial, and resurrection for your sins. “The Lord said to Joshua, ‘Get up! Why have you fallen on your face?'” —Joshua 7:10 (ESV)My Beloved Warrior,I saw you fall. I heard the cry of your heart when defeat hit harder than you expected. The shame. The confusion. The pain. You tried so hard to lead well, to fight well—but something went wrong. And now, you're face-down in disappointment, wondering if I've walked away. But I haven't.Failure doesn't scare Me, and it shouldn't scare you. It's not the end. Not even close. I didn't call you to be flawless—I called you to be faithful. Get up, son. This moment doesn't define you. I do.Yes, there was hidden sin in the camp back then, just like there are unseen places in your life now that need My light. But I don't point it out to shame you—I reveal it to heal you. I don't expose to punish; I expose to restore. That's what love does.If you're willing to come clean with Me, I will cleanse you. If you confess, I will cover you—not with condemnation, but with grace. The same power that knocked down Jericho's walls is the power that will raise you up again. You're still My warrior. My call on your life hasn't changed. I'm not done with you—not because of your strength, but because of My mercy. The story I'm writing in you is not a tragedy; it's a testimony. One of redemption, resilience, and renewal. So rise. Wipe the dust off. Learn what needs learning. Let go of what needs letting go. Let this failure be an altar, not a grave. I'll meet you here. Most of us have said, “No” to a child, a pet, or a salesman...but what about to GOD?! What happens when you tell GOD, “No?” Why would a person tell God, “No?” Both of these answers are clearly answered in this text from John 12.
Something is rewarding about trusting in Jesus. In today's message, Pastor Ken says when your hope is found in Jesus, He eases any fear that may come of what's to come. God's love abounds far greater than anything this world can offer. His love allows you to have hope in Him, even in a broken world. If you trust God, you'll find that the next time you're in a stressful situation you'll have hope instead of sorrow. Trust in God's everlasting power today and have hope in something other than yourself.
There's a lot to be anxious about, especially when we look at the world around us. Today, Pastor Ken says even though the world is hectic, we can have hope. Our hope's found in Jesus; He promises to restore all that's broken. Your hope can be found in Jesus, all you must do is believe in His redeeming love. He loves you so much that He desires a relationship with you. If you're lost and alone, turn to Christ for your peace and comfort. When you rely on Him, all the chaos going on has a different light to it.
In the movie, the Avengers, a man named Nick Fury calls upon superheroes to protect the world from anything that could harm it. Today, Pastor Ken says that when we call on the Lord to come quickly, we're saying “God come to restore all that's broken, and come quickly.” When the Avengers assemble Earth feels like a safe place and that's how it'll feel when God returns. All who believe will feel safe knowing that God's in control and He'll bring order to all that's disordered, and peace to those who are restless.

“The Good News is still good news.” “I'm very pro-democracy, and yet democracy has never been the necessary prerequisite for the good news of Jesus Christ to flourish. … The good news of Jesus Christ doesn't win and doesn't lose based on a political party winning or losing.” (Walter Kim, from this episode) How does evangelicalism relate to the dominant political powers of our world? In this episode Mark Labberton welcomes Walter Kim to Conversing. As the president of the National Association of Evangelicals and host of the Difficult Conversations podcast, Walter holds on to deep Christian orthodoxy alongside the most vigorous and necessary intellectual, personal, ethical, and theological reflections, offering a vision of leadership and spiritual-moral imagination to bolster the future of evangelicalism. Together they discuss: Christianity, pluralism, and polarization The fraught meaning of “evangelicalism” in America and what it means to be a “good news person” in this political moment The human impulse to wield power and the temptation of evangelicals to join with empire The Christian underpinnings of the American nation's founding and the necessary ingredients for the rise of Christian nationalism How evangelicals are retelling and recasting the story of the gospel in today's political climate About Walter Kim Walter Kim serves as the president of the National Association of Evangelicals, a role he's held since January of 2020. Previously, he was the pastor of Boston's historic Park Street Church, and has served other churches in Vancouver, British Columbia, and Charlottesville, Virginia, and as a campus chaplain at Yale University. He received a BA from Northwestern University, an MDiv from Regent College, and a PhD from Harvard University in Near Eastern languages and civilizations. He hosts the Difficult Conversations podcast. Show Notes Long-term faithfulness to the gospel in the maelstrom of challenges and difficulties ”My experience has been one of extremes. … There is the lived reality of polarization, at which I find often myself right in the centre.” ”Sober self-assessment … one should always, as a Christian, be self-suspicious: Am I compromising? … Am I responding in faith or out of fear?” “Purveyor of the good news in action.” “Our labour in Christ is not in vain … ultimately Christ remains Lord and Savior of all.” The word “evangelical” and the state of US evangelicalism What does it mean to be a “good news person”? World Evangelical Alliance General Assembly Laussane and a gathering of five thousand evangelicals from around the world “It's not a branding issue. It's a substance issue.” “Global church with a polycentric distribution of leadership and resources” “Whatever our maelstrom and vortex may be in America, it pales in comparison to what brothers and sisters are experiencing throughout the world.” “I'm very pro-democracy, and yet democracy has never been the necessary prerequisite for the good news of Jesus Christ to flourish. … The good news of Jesus Christ doesn't win and doesn't lose based on a political party winning or losing.” Religious community vs “the other” How does the church relate to dominant powers? Image of God is not just an abstract idea “The democratization of the image of God to all people—not just to the rulers—was a profoundly prophetic statement.” Tower of Babel: A story not just about hubris, but about hoarding power and the ways political imperialism can use religion for its own purposes. “This is not a uniquely American problem. … This is a problem of humanity.” Evangelicals who have given themselves to empire Marring God's image and remaking God in our own image Pluralism and Christianity The capacity for self-reflection The Christian underpinnings of the American nation's founding, and the rise of Christian nationalism “What's different now is the pluralism.” The necessary ingredients for the rise of Christian nationalism Ingredient 1: The belief that America was founded as a Christian nation Ingredient 2: A sense or feeling of loss Ingredient 3: The answer to regaining what you lost is political Descriptive versus prescriptive: Was America founded as a Christian nation? Hope in the loving and just reign of God No national church: “living under their own vine and fig tree.” The reason we don't privilege Christianity in the Constitution Lilly Endowment project “The Good News is still good news.” “Retelling and recasting the story … as a message of hope.” “ This initiative is an opportunity for us to tell the beautiful story of Jesus, while not neglecting the ways that story has been marred.” Luke 4: Jesus's first public speech. “ The Spirit of the Lord is upon me. He has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor, freedom for the prisoner, sight for the blind, release for the oppressed. And to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor.” Production Credits Conversing is produced and distributed in partnership with Comment magazine and Fuller Seminary.

265 – Are you trusting God no matter what happens with the election?Have you ever felt like your life goes from one challenge to another, or one crisis to another? And just look at the national scene. As soon as one political battle comes to an end another one starts. And what about the election!!!How do you keep your peace in all these situations? It's not always easy. The question is: Do you trust God in the midst of all these problems? That's what this week's episode is all about. I ask some pretty honest questions:Do you only trust things will be okay if your candidate(s) win?Do you only trust things will be okay if the policy you want gets implemented? Can you trust God to work things out even if your candidate looses?Do you trust people and politics more than God?Regardless of the political outcome here in the United States, or whatever may be going on in the country where you live in, you can trust God to provide for you, protect you, guide you, and heal you. Regardless of the outcome of any event, large or small, local, regional, federal, and even international, you can trust God in every situation for all your needs.Show notes:Transcript and Bible quotes: thebiblespeakstoyou.com/265Text me your questions or comments.Support the showIf you enjoy the podcast, please rate and leave a review on Apple Podcasts or Spotify__________________James Early, the Jesus Mindset Coach, is a Bible teacher, speaker, and podcaster.
