Abraham's story stands as one of the Bible's most powerful examples of faith, yet even this spiritual giant struggled with partial obedience. Coming from an idolatrous background in Ur, Abraham was called by God to leave his country, relatives, and father's house to journey to Canaan. However, Genesis reveals that Abraham only made it halfway, settling comfortably in Haran until his father's death before completing his journey. This pattern of partial obedience is dangerously common in our spiritual lives. We often find ourselves at crossroads between deeper devotion to Christ and familiar worldly ways, attempting to navigate both simultaneously. We may attend church while neglecting spiritual growth at home, or meet minimum faith obligations without pursuing complete surrender. The deception lies in the comfort these halfway measures provide - like Abraham in Haran, we can prosper and feel satisfied while missing God's best for our lives. As C.S. Lewis noted, we settle for mud pies when God offers us a holiday at sea.Moving beyond partial obedience requires identifying our personal 'Harans' - those areas where we've stopped short of full surrender. It demands letting go of old ways and embracing death to self, as Abraham finally continued his journey after his father died. When we choose complete obedience, God can work through us in ways utterly disproportionate to who we are, bringing blessings far exceeding anything we could imagine on our own. Bible information and education is plentiful here in America. However, that's not the case in other parts of the world. Our plenty often blinds us to this reality and as such, we don't see the harvest that's before us, especially in nations such as Pakistan. Islam is the official state religion there and according to the 2017 census, 96.5% of Pakistanis identify as Muslim so the need for God's Word there is as great as ever. Joining Jim to discuss this issue live from Pakistan was Pastor Shahid Kaleem. He's founder and chairman of Christian Literature & Translation Ministry in Pakistan. He's been partnering for several years with Bible Tracts, Inc. for effective ministry of Bible tract and Bible distribution ministry in Pakistan. Don't miss this broadcast as Pastor Kaleem talks about the tensions with India, what it's like to live for Christ in Pakistan, specific challenges that believers are facing due to their faith, what his ministry is doing to meet the needs of people in Pakistan, what you can do to participate in this effort and much more! Welcome to our podcast today. I am Ronnie Floyd, your host and friend. Before I start this episode, let me introduce you to some important matters. First, next Monday is Memorial Day. Thank you to all families throughout generations who have lost family members in the line of battle, protecting our freedom in America. Thank God for each one of them. Next week, we will not release a podcast due to Memorial Day, a shorter work week, and many of you will be formally beginning your summer. However, I will be back with you, releasing our next podcast on Wednesday, June 4. Don't miss it! Second, pray for me. I will be preaching four Sundays in June. On June 1, I will preach at Cross Church Springdale and Pinnacle Hills. On June 8, Jeana and I will be in Dallas, Texas, attending the Southern Baptist Convention. On June 15, I will preach at Fellowship Church in Greenwood, Missouri, which is located in the greater Kansas City region. Pastor Chris Williams is a great leader and friend, and the Fellowship Church is phenomenal. Then, on June 22, I will preach for my dear friend, Dr. Jeremy Roberts, at the First Baptist Church in Farmington, Arkansas. Then, on June 29-30, I will preach for Pastor Alan Arthur, the pastor of First Baptist Church in San Saba, Texas. He has asked me to speak several times, leading his church in a Prayer Conference. I am so grateful for these opportunities, so please pray for me. Now let's get started with the podcast for this week. Let's go!

Esquire Magazine was recently awarded a Pulitzer Prize for a factually bereft, emotionally driven editorial about the life and death of Bubba Copeland in which "right wing media" was blamed for his death. That "right wing media" of course was 1819 News. The Esquire article failed to tell the full story or any of the details of Copeland's sexually deviant extracurricular activities. In October of 2023, a trusted source told 1819 News that the Pastor of First Baptist Church of Phenix City, who was also the Mayor of Smith Station, Ala., was leading a double life as an online trans pornstar. A very bizarre lead, indeed, but things turned out to be far worse. Copeland wasn't just dressing up in his wife's clothes and taking pictures, he was a public figure posting homoerotic slasher fiction on public social media pages under an alter ego. He was creating memes encouraging children to transition their gender using pictures from children in the community. 1819 News published several articles exposing these things and it soon became a national story. The Lee County Sheriff's Office went to do a wellness check on Copeland, and as they turned their lights on to pull him over, he sped off, getting into a chase with law enforcement. When the chase ended, Copeland exited the car brandishing a pistol and pulled the trigger, ending his life. This was a tragic ending, but an ending that Copeland himself chose. Unfortunately, the national—and international—media blamed 1819 News, reporter Craig Monger, editor Jeff Poor, and CEO Bryan Dawson, all of whom were doxed by unhinged liberals posting their home addresses and family pictures online. The lunatics relentlessly attacked all 1819 News staff and their families, trying everything they could to cancel anyone associated with the organization. It didn't work; the fire only galvanized the team. 1819 News didn't lose a single donor or employee, and the adversity brought everyone together and made the organization stronger than ever. Upon Esquire posting the announcement of their Pulitzer Prize to Twitter/X, the post was immediately Community Noted with the following: "The article that was awarded a Pulitzer prize trivializes the fact that former mayor ‘Bubba' Copeland used photos of women and children to create transgender fetish content, and even wrote a sexual fantasy about murdering a woman in order to steal her identity." The comments section was even less forgiving. Esquire was "ratioed" as the kids say. Dawson brings on Craig Monger, the author of the original Bubba Copeland news stories that led to all this, to discuss the Pulitzer Prize and the details of the original reporting. They also discuss legislation that would have protected children from LGBTQ ideology in the classroom dying in the Senate and the overall obvious attempt by progressives to steal the hearts, minds, and souls of our children to fill their ranks and what we can do about it.

Your Hope-Filled Perspective with Dr. Michelle Bengtson podcast
Episode Summary: In this episode of Your Hope-Filled Perspective, Rhonda Stoppe shares her Sacred Scar Story of finding hope in the midst of postpartum depression and hormonal imbalance. What began as a season of silent suffering—marked by deep shame, emotional exhaustion, and the sense that no one understood—eventually led her to the help she desperately needed. Now, Rhonda offers encouragement and truth to women facing similar struggles, reminding them they’re not alone and that healing begins when we bring our pain into the light. Quotables from the episode: Living in that one-bedroom house, without electricity, with three children I was so overwhelmed. It wasn’t depression exactly, but I was completely overwhelmed. I was lying in my kids’ bunkbed with the door closing, weeping, when my husband came home and found me like that. He asked what was wrong with me, and I didn’t know. It was just too hard. It was a very dark season for me. I didn’t know that it was post-partum depression—I just knew I was frail, and I was fragile. Slowly, that post-partum turned into PMS/PMD. I remember not being the mom I wanted to be. Two weeks out of the month I wasn’t myself, and then two weeks out of the month I was myself. We lived behind a locked gate on a ranch, so I could hide. So whenever I wasn’t myself, and I couldn’t live my life “out there,” I just stayed home within the locked gate. Imagine if you’re a werewolf, and imagine if every full moon, you were going to turn into a werewolf and you couldn’t stop it, you couldn’t stop that werewolf from taking over your body, and the only hope you had was if someone would lock you in a cage until the full moon passed so you didn’t eat your young. That is what my experience was like with PMS. Before I experienced it, I had said to my mom and to my sister who struggled with it, “Oh come on, you’re just using that as an excuse to hurt people with your words.” Now, I knew enough to not hurt people with my words. Instead, I would pull back. During those times the only fruit of the spirit that I seemed to have was self-control, and I could keep hurtful words from coming out of my mouth that I couldn’t take back. I told my husband that the best way he could help me was to let me pull away in my bedroom, while he played with the kids, and let me just get through it. I would be in my room with my Bible open in my lap, reading, praying and asking God to help me. I felt so ashamed because I knew the Lord and I had the Holy Spirit in me. What happens with a hormonal imbalance is a real medical condition that occurs and can play itself out in a way that you can be very sinful in how you let yourself respond to it. I felt shame, I felt alone, I felt lonely, I felt like no one else was going through what I was going through. I think it’s silent suffering that we often go through as Christian women because it feels so shameful when we have the Holy Spirit but we don’t know why we cannot get a handle on this. What makes it so hard is that we are so ashamed about it, so we don’t want to talk about it because we don’t know anyone else who is going through it so we think we are alone, so then the message we hear is “what’s wrong with ME?” That just brings on more guilt, shame, remorse, regret, fear, and isolation. The isolation is about the worse thing we can do. We need to talk about it so that people know they’re not alone. The enemy convinced me I was all alone, nobody understands, and I was going to have to figure this all out on my own. I ultimately found help when I went to an endocrinologist who specialized in hormonal disorders. She gave me medication that balanced out my hormonal levels throughout the month. My sacred scars came out of this experience because now I can comfort others with what has comforted me. Whenever I share my story, women are desperate to talk to me because they feel so alone and don’t think anyone can understand the struggle, and for some, it’s ruining their marriages. The whole essence of the book Sacred Scars is that God didn’t cause our pain and suffering, but He will use it for good. Even now, my husband, Steve, who is a pastor, can help other men whose wives are going through it, because Steve went through it with me and can understand. Initially, in my pride, I didn’t want others to know about my frailty, but if God can use my frailty to help someone else, who am I to not let Him use my sacred scars to help someone else who’s desperate to know they aren’t alone. Don’t try to find someone to blame for how you’re feeling right now. Recognize what is going on in your body. It’s no one’s fault; you don’t have to find someone to blame for why you’re sad or why you’re mad or why you’re triggered. It’s a hormonal fluctuation and you need to decide how to take care of you and not assign blame or fault for why you feel this way. There is hope and there is help. Find a medical professional who specializes in hormonal imbalances. Don’t give up. Find someone you can trust who you can talk to about it. Isolating yourself makes it worse. Don’t give up and don’t suffer silently. Satan keeps our secrets and makes us feel shame, so when we share it, it disarms his hold on us. Find a safe person to share this with. You need to be careful who you share this with because some people haven’t earned your trust or the right to hear those intimate personal details.
