The wait can be hard. When God's promise feels so close that you can taste it but also looks like it's impossible and won't happen, you have to remember who God is and all he's done. This is exactly what the Israelites had to do in the book of Deuteronomy, and it's just what this episode is all about. God has set a standard for how we should carry ourselves once we have received His promise, but not before we get a reminder of His character and a run-down of why He is worth the praise in the first place.
