On this week's show, Steve, Dana, and Julia crack open the latest edition of The Paper, a new mockumentary set in the The Office universe. They debate whether the tried and true sitcom formula still delivers and assess its portrayal of local journalism. Next, they share their feelings about two couples who are terrible at sharing theirs in Splitsville, the marriage farce created and starring Kyle Marvin and Michael Angelo Covino with Dakota Johnson and Adria Arjona. Finally, the heterofatalist discourse continues in their conversation with Slate music critic Carl Wilson about Man's Best Friend, the latest release from the spritely, cheeky, and controversy-stirring Sabrina Carpenter. In an exclusive Slate Plus bonus episode, the panel takes up the business of cultural criticism in a discussion inspired by the recent New York Magazine piece “Do Media Organizations Even Want Cultural Criticism.” Email us your thoughts at culturefest@slate.com. On this episode of A Lil R and R Podcast... Reese is on a mission to have a heart-to-heart with "Jennifer" about her scandalous entanglement with "Cheyanne's" husband. Meanwhile, his therapist's suggestion to “get out and meet people” backfired when he caught a stomach bug that almost took him out completely!!Ramont keeps things simple with panhandlers, offering up his iconic response: “NO THANK YOU, I'M FINE” a line so unexpected it leaves Reese in tears. Reese also admits he's still waiting for a run-in with the preacher who scammed him in a Target parking lot. When the conversation turns to friends and money, Ramont makes it clear: subscriptions aren't his love language. Reese then overshares a recent manscaping mishap—one that almost had him dialing up Ramont for backup!!The main discussion? The guys go deep on what the title best friend really means—roles, responsibilities, and even whether Reese might just be guilty of friend ghosting (he defends his honor, of course). They also dive into Reese's disdain for the cliché that “couples should be friends first” and raise a spicy question: Why don't we hear more about same-gender work spouses?WHAT WE LEARNED:Ramont goes on record stating that compared to Florida, Baltimore is ghettoReese uses a spoon for his Chiopotle bowlQuestions, Concerns or Feedback- RamontAndReese@gmail.comIG- ALilRandRPodcast Hosted on Acast. Sabrina Carpenter is following her breakout album Short n' Sweet with a new collection of cheeky earworms called Man's Best Friend, which includes the breakout singles “Manchild” and “Tears.” Carpenter explores many of the same lyrical themes as she has in the past — winking innuendo and wry commentary on being a woman in the dating scene. But she kicks it up several notches while playing around with more retro-heavy sounds. Watch the full coverage of the live stream on The Emily D Baker YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/gcNGmZoS-7w Day 7 of the Donna Adelson trial happened on September 2, 2025 and began the Defense's case-in-chief. The Defense faced immediate challenges with witness scheduling, leading to an early dismissal and the judge expressing strong displeasure about the lack of preparedness and adherence to the court's timeline. The Defense introduced a tech expert, Kelsey Guay, to refute the prosecution's analysis of phone records. The expert aimed to demonstrate that the prosecution's method of counting calls between Donna and Charlie Adelson inflated the actual number of unique call events due to duplication. The Defense also argued that Donna's phone did not connect to a cell tower near Charlie's home on the day of the murder, attempting to mitigate the significance of her "I'm outside" text. Anne Cunningham & Ron Gutterson, friends of the Adelson's, took the stand to testify about Donna's distressed state after the murder. The Defense also questioned investigators, Tehronna Khan & Eddie Varnes, who interviewed jailhouse informants, particularly Patricia Byrd, to challenge any claims of Donna offering inducements for testimony. A point of contention arose regarding WhatsApp voice calls in 2014, as Anne claimed to have used it for calls with Donna, but it was noted that WhatsApp did not offer voice calls until 2015, suggesting the calls must have been via Viber. Will Donna Adelson testify? That remains the big question as the defense moves into Day 8. Behind the doors of an isolated farmhouse on the outskirts of Plainfield, Wisconsin, a trove of macabre secrets were stashed out of sight of the locals that blurred the line between reality and nightmare. Unearthed in 1957, the world of quiet, shy farmer, Edward Theodore Gein, revealed a bizarre story of grave robbing, body parts fashioned into household items, and a fascination with death that was almost unparalleled in its depravity. A psychiatrist's examination stated plainly that, “The overall picture was not that of a well person,” which was, perhaps, one of the greatest understatements in medical and criminal history.SOURCES Schechter, Harold (1998) Deviant: The Shocking True Story of Ed Gein, Original Psycho.
