What would you do if you sold your company and had every opportunity to step back, but instead chose to build a vision aimed at changing the future of how communities thrive? In Episode 290, Kelly sits down with returning guest Jim Gale to explore his mission to transform the way families, schools, neighborhoods, and even nations think about food and long-term resilience. Jim shares how he turned barren land into a fully off-grid, self-sustaining ecosystem and why regenerative design is becoming essential as the cost of living climbs and global systems show increasing strain. His perspective blends entrepreneurship, sustainability, and practical action in a way that challenges traditional thinking.Jim also dives into the rapid global expansion of Food Forest Abundance, now active in more than 50 countries, and outlines how simple, scalable systems are helping households reduce dependency and create real security. From community-supported agriculture to working with local leaders, churches, and schools, he breaks down how abundance can be built anywhere with the right mindset and the right structures. This episode offers a grounded, forward-looking conversation on resilience, leadership, and the future of sustainable living.Key Takeaways: 1. Jim chose purpose over comfort, redirecting his life into a mission that supports long-term human resilience.2. Even barren land can become a thriving ecosystem with the right regenerative design principles.3. Rising costs and system strain are pushing more people to explore self-sufficiency and local abundance.4. Simple food systems can dramatically reduce household pressure and create real security.5. Schools, churches, and community groups are powerful entry points for widespread change.6. Food Forest Abundance is now active in more than 50 countries, proving the model works at scale.7. Creating even a small amount of your own food increases stability and reduces dependency.8. Community-supported agriculture models offer education, daily nutrition, and long-term resilience.9. Awareness and visibility are essential, as many people have never considered growing their own food.10. Abundance works best when shared; real resilience comes from communities growing and supporting each other. If you listen to The Business Development Podcast, you belong in The Catalyst Club.
Alpha Warrior sits down with his longtime friend James R (@realpersonpltcs) for one of the most emotional and powerful People episodes yet. In this deeply personal conversation, James opens up about his rough childhood outside Chicago, the grit that shaped him, his unexpected move to Hawaii, and how the world of podcasting, and eventually love...found him. But the heart of this episode is James's near-death experience: the massive stroke he suffered on August 19th, which left him collapsed in a parking lot and fighting for his life. James recounts waking up in a hospital, relearning the world one question at a time, and confronting the brutal realization of how close he came to leaving behind his wife and young daughter. Alpha and James reflect on trauma, God's intervention, the power of prayer, rebuilding purpose, and the clarity that comes after facing death. What follows is a raw exploration of forgiveness, humility, recovery, and the relentless will to fight. A conversation filled with brotherhood, faith, hard truth, and hope, offering strength to anyone walking through their own battles.

PREVIEW Scott Winship examines whether rising immigration has negatively impacted the upward momentum of incomes for native-born Americans over the past 50 to 70 years. He finds no strong evidence that immigration has been a main or important factor hurting earnings growth for native-born workers. When analyzed separately, both native-born and foreign-born Americans have seen impressive gains. Grouping them together tends to pull down overall figures due to the increasing number of lower-earning migrants. Guest: Scott Winship. Retry

Many people say our healthcare system is brokenāand maybe you've felt that yourself.Rising costs, denied claims, and surprise bills have left millions of Americans buried in medical debt. But there's a better, biblical way to approach healthcareāone that has been serving Christians for more than forty years. Lauren Gajdek joins us today to tell us all about it.Lauren Gajdek is the Senior Director of External Affairs at Christian Healthcare Ministries (CHM), an underwriter of Faith & Finance.Ā Why an āOpen Enrollmentā Campaign for a Year-Round Ministry? While CHM accepts new members year-round, their Open Enrollment Campaignārunning from November 1 through January 15āaligns with the period when most Americans review or change their health coverage through employers or government exchanges. This is the time of year when people are thinking about healthcare decisions. So even though CHM is open year-round, it's an excellent opportunity to shine a light on a biblical alternative. Many Americans have grown frustrated with their healthcare experiences. CHM hears from countless people who've paid premiums for years, only to find that help is unavailable when they need it most. It's disheartening. You think your provider is in-network, but later find out they're not. That leaves patients confused and financially burdened. It's a system that often leaves believers wondering if there's a better way. That sense of frustration has become widespreadāespecially as over 100 million Americans now carry medical debt, a staggering sign of a broken system. How CHM Differs from InsuranceCHM operates from a radically different model. Rather than paying into a profit-driven system, CHM members share each other's medical expensesāa reflection of biblical community and mutual care. They've been around since 1981 and have shared or satisfied over $13 billion in medical bills. They're a nonprofit ministry that helps Christians live out their faith through practical care.Unlike traditional insurance, CHM members can visit any doctor or hospital they chooseāthere are no in-network restrictionsāas long as the treatment meets the ministry's guidelines. It's simple, affordable, and rooted in biblical stewardship. Members have the freedom and peace of mind that come with knowing they're part of a community that cares. At its core, CHM is not an insurance companyāit's a Christ-centered community built on shared values. Members give monthly to help other believers in need. It's an act of faith and stewardship. And for most people, it's far more affordable than traditional plans. This affordability and flexibility are especially appealing for Christians seeking to align their healthcare decisions with their faith and values.Guidance for Those Exploring Their OptionsFor anyone comparing healthcare choices this season, approach the decision prayerfully and with an open mind. You don't have to be trapped in a broken insurance system. There's a proven, Christ-centered way to handle your healthcare. Go to CHMinistries.org/FaithFi to find a cost comparison tool that shows how CHM can make care more affordable. Many in the Faith & Finance audience are retirees or nearing retirement. So it's important to note that CHM also complements Medicare, helping cover eligible expenses Medicare may not cover. It's what they call a ācomplementary' approach, where CHM can help cover costs Medicare doesn't pay, as long as they fall within its guidelines.FaithFi is grateful for CHM's partnership and their ongoing commitment to helping believers steward their healthcare costs wisely. You don't have to settle for a system that's broken. There's a biblical, community-based way to manage your healthcare needs. Learn more at CHMinistries.org/FaithFi.On Today's Program, Rob Answers Listener Questions:A pastor friend of mine was told he owes $13,000 in taxes because his preparer made a mistake. He doesn't have the money to pay for it. Where can he turn for help?I own a small business structured as an LLC, and I'm confused about how to tithe. Should I tithe personally from what I pay myself, from the business profits at year-end, or both?I'm a pastor, and one of my church members is struggling. After his father's death, the estate was liquidated, leaving him without a home. He hasn't filed taxes and now has tax debt. What's the best way for him to address this?I'm looking into a debt management plan and wonderingāwill it hurt my credit score? And would I still be able to keep one credit card open for emergencies?Resources Mentioned:Faithful Steward: FaithFi's Quarterly Magazine (Become a FaithFi Partner)Christian Healthcare Ministries (CHM)National Christian Foundation (NCF)Christian Credit CounselorsWisdom Over Wealth: 12 Lessons from Ecclesiastes on MoneyLook At The Sparrows: A 21-Day Devotional on Financial Fear and AnxietyRich Toward God: A Study on the Parable of the Rich FoolFind a Certified Kingdom Advisor (CKA)FaithFi App Remember, you can call in to ask your questions every workday at (800) 525-7000. Send us a textThe room glowed with warm orange light, a full house gathered to celebrate five years of Girls Twiddling Knobs and to witness a bold closing chapter. We brought a live panel to the stage to ask a deceptively simple question: are music technology skills truly crucial for women and gender-diverse artists? What followed was honest, funny, and disarmingly practicalāstories about safety in studios, DIY learning, pricing your worth, and the power of choosing collaborators who actually listen.Karen Sutton (Oram Awards) mapped the tough terrain of funding and why mentoring fills the gaps that DIY routes can't always bridge. Rooks, aka Jenny Bulcraig (2% Rising), shared how artists are rejecting microaggressions and confusion in sessions in favor of producers who offer clarity, consent, and better results. afromerm, aka Cecilia Morgan, unpacked how growing technical fluency turns doubt into calm agency on stage, even when met with patronising questions. Glade Marie (Saffron) spoke to intuition, community, and using brand gigs to bankroll creative freedom without apology. Together, we explored how tech skills change careers, why safer spaces are non-negotiable, and how to build sustainable models when institutions look away.We don't pretend the landscape is fair. Arts funding is shaky. Industry gatekeepers still overlook what doesn't fit a KPI. But the path forward is clear: learn the tools that center your voice, set boundaries around money and time, and build the rooms where more of us can thrive. As we prepare a short final seasonāanswering why we're closing and what we've learnedāwe're archiving the work and passing the torch to the many initiatives pushing this movement forward. If you've ever felt othered in a studio, underpaid for your craft, or unsure how to start charging for your expertise, this conversation is a compass. Listen, share, and tell us the boundary you're setting next. New York grocers say sales have dropped by as much as 25 percent as SNAP delays leave customers without funds, forcing stores to cut orders and mark down perishable goods. Meanwhile, the city's health commissioner is urging New Yorkers to get flu, COVID and RSV vaccines amid a sharp rise in respiratory illnesses. And the state is investigating how a third party vendor sent a false Bank of America alert to nearly 200,000 text subscribers.
Applied Materials (AMAT) is the focus of today's Options Corner hit. Rick Ducat dials up the technical perspective and examines the semiconductor equipment maker's chart. He points out the rising wedge pattern taking place ahead of its upcoming earnings report. However, Rick highlights a "bearish divergence" taking place on its RSI momentum study but adds that it is a common occurrence into earnings events. Later, Tom White composes an example options trade for AMAT. He describes why the call diagonal strategy has a bullish stance.======== Schwab Network ========Empowering every investor and trader, every market day.Subscribe to the Market Minute newsletter - https://schwabnetwork.com/subscribeDownload the iOS app - https://apps.apple.com/us/app/schwab-network/id1460719185Download the Amazon Fire Tv App - https://www.amazon.com/TD-Ameritrade-Network/dp/B07KRD76C7Watch on Sling - https://watch.sling.com/1/asset/191928615bd8d47686f94682aefaa007/watchWatch on Vizio - https://www.vizio.com/en/watchfreeplus-exploreWatch on DistroTV - https://www.distro.tv/live/schwab-network/Follow us on X ā / schwabnetwork Follow us on Facebook ā / schwabnetwork Follow us on LinkedIn - / schwab-network About Schwab Network - https://schwabnetwork.com/about
More To The Story: About 2,100 people are on death row in America. Some have been there for decades, in part because executions have been on the decline in the US. But that's changing. So far this year, 41 people have been executed, up from 25 last year, and six more executions are scheduled. Early in his second term, President Donald Trump signed an executive order reinstating federal executions while encouraging states to expand the use of capital punishment. One man has seen many of these executions up close. The Reverend Jeff Hood is an Old Catholic Church priest, an ordained Baptist minister, a racial justice activist, and something of a go-to spiritual adviser for many currently on death row. On the day of the execution, he goes inside the chamber for the final moments of people's lives. On this week's More To The Story, Hood sits down with host Al Letson to describe his work as an advocate for death row inmates, what it's like being a white Southern reverend vocally advocating for racial justice, and how capital punishment in the US today illustrates American society's increasing movement in a more violent direction.Producer: Josh Sanburn | Editor: Kara McGuirk-Allison | Theme music: Fernando Arruda and Jim Briggs | Copy editor: Nikki Frick | Digital producer: Artis Curiskis | Deputy executive producer: Taki Telonidis | Executive producer: Brett Myers | Executive editor: James West | Host: Al Letson Donate today at Revealnews.org/more Subscribe to our weekly newsletter at Revealnews.org/weekly Follow us on Instagram and Bluesky Listen: In Bondage to the Law (Reveal)Read: Louisiana Is Executing Prisoners Again.
