Podcast by Beer Buddies for Life
On this episode we taste through a long list of American Lagers. What makes this episode interesting is that I had just returned from a trip to see family in Michigan and had brought back an assortment of midwestern beers. What makes this episode very special is that the trip I took back east was to say goodbye to my Grandfather, the man who started my entire beer journey 15 years ago. We have Miles of Growler Gang as a guest to help us drink through this large assortment of lagers, and at the very end I have included a recording taken from one of the times I talked with my Grandfather about his beer adventures before he passed. Shenanigans as usual when we have Growler Gang members as guests, but a very special segment hearing stories from the OG beer man himself, Grandpa Burt. Grab your old man domestic lager of choice and listen in!
Today we taste through some sours we've had laying around and complain about how expensive the craft scene seems to be, especially when it comes to sour ales. But we still had a good time.
Today Jordan and I sip through a fantastic mixed 4 pack from Great Notion out of Portland, OR. We talk about these guys a lot, and they were featured in our Portland Area Sour Beer Adventure from a few years back. Sit back and let us taste through this awesome beer assortment.
Jordan and I return to a style we loved long ago, the very uncommon style of the Brown Ale. We relive some of our brown ale beer drinking history and taste through 8 very different brown ales readily available in the Sacramento area.
Recently I found some hidden treasure at a local store. Miles and I had tried this O'fallon mixed 4 pack about a year and a half prior and agreed that it was one of the best mixed 4 packs we had ever seen, and that Jordan also needed to try one. Many months went by before seeing another one in stores, but luck was on our side and we taste through this midwestern 4 pack for your listening pleasure. One of the Growler Gang members makes a surprise (to them) cameo, we talk adjuncts, and a great time is had.
Jordan's return triggers the reunion of the Growler Gang, where we taste through Track 7's hard soda seltzer release from Sacrament Beer week 2022 and basically drink them and talk about anything else. Once the sports talk hits I cut off the episode mildly abruptly, but dont worry. I left in plenty salt.
What do you get when you combine two beer drinkin buddies and one amazing Groupon Deal? A short road trip to Highwater Brewing in Lodi, CA. We had a couple of awesome flights at Highwater and picked out a good cross section of available beverages ACTUALLY IN CROWLERS to dink on this episode.
We have talked about Urban Roots many a time here on the Beer Buddies podcast, but with it being their 4th anniversary and Urban Roots releasing a 4-paack containing 1 of each year of the Anniversary Brews titled "Travelers Welcome," we felt it was finally time to bring them into the spotlight.
A quick view into my (Chris) hobbies, some back stories and a discussion on how the same ingredients can yield different results.
This episode has been a long time coming. The fans know Jordan and I both toured Sierra Nevada Brewery in Chico CA during the initial release time of Tropical Torpedo and the rest is history. Please join us as we drink through Torpedo, Tropical Torpedo, Atomic Torpedo and Cold Torpedo. Please drink responsibly, Jordan and I each split one of these beers so the volume was minimized. Please do your part to be safe if you follow us on this journey. Enjoy!
A solo podcast, I talk about lagers since ive been on a lager kick as of late. A quick episode, and maybe a topic we revisit with the whole gang.
New Years Eve is upon us, and with that comes some fod memories of some heavy weight beers that Jordan and I have tried over the years. This year, Jordan and I celebrate by pulling a couple of our rare and special bottles of barrel aged bubbly out of the aging vault and throw in a new contender we bought this holiday season to see if 2016 Goose Island Bourbon County Stout is still the GOAT. If 2016 Goose Island BCS stays on top, or if it gets dethroned, there are no losers here at this NYE party.
Jordan and I find ourselves drinking some of our all time favorite beers, and discuss some of our go - to brews that we see ourselves returning to over and over again, despite actively trying the newest and greatest brews. Spoiler alert, Jordan performs and experiment with great results.
Miles and I test out some new (its been here the whole time) audio gear for new and improved production value going into Season 2, and discuss the usual: Beer, school and life. And Jordan's bald head.
On this episode we test out some new audio equipment, some acoustic dampening on the podcast patio, and just talk about school and life. Miles and I discuss our struggles and successes as engineering students trying to get by. and did I mention audio quality? Finally, what youve all been waiting for, some actual production value on the Beer Bussies podcast.
Jordan has been waiting for this one. We decided to take advantage of the Oh Yeah quad can release by Track 7 and throw in a couple of other beers we both enjoy to give them a review. Its not our usual approach to a spotlight, but what the hell.
We get Miles on another episode to help us drink through a large variety of beers with peanut butter added. We cover several styles in his episode, and the beer selection includes everything from regional staples to obscure and rare finds. Whether you prefer creamy or crunchy, we'll do our best to butter you up for what's available this summer with this uncommon ingredient that was more common than expected.
This one's a long one. Jordan and I have been excited for this episode all year. This is the return of the Goose Island Bourbon County Stout flight. Our first was in 2018, but this time we changed it up a little bit. We stuck to the originals, and cracked open the new 2020, 19, 18, 17, and the GOAT 2016 vintage and tried them side by side.
We think back on the awesome organization of the Resilience Beer movement for the Paradise Fire relief, and enjoy some new beers from an initiative designed to help local small businesses stay open and pay put some money into the pockets of their employees during CODIV.
I have a reputation for over-emphasizing beers here and there, and Jordan decides to put me on the spot during one of our regular evening hangouts.
With Jordan's return from the midwest, we dive deep into our past experiences and favorite beers from one of our favorite local spots, and as always we taste our way through 3 crowlers. Track 7, it's your turn in the spotlight.
On this episode we discuss how and why we choose the locations for our beer trips featured on the beer blog while we sip through some new tasty pints.
This week we take a closer look at one of our favorite spots, Fieldwork.
The 4 gents from the infamous Growler Gang come together for a special episode of the podcast. We talk about sports, women, movies, and eventually maybe get to the beer.

We discuss the role of beer in the past, apocalypse in the form of a zombie takeover, zombie pop culture and the feasibility of beer styles that we've al come to love.
We dive into the beer scene once again, but for an event that comes around once a year. Sacramento Beer Week showcases the region's creativity and passion for beer with special releases by local breweries.
This episode we bring Miles back for a discussion about beer styles and staples, and the difference between those beer standards and our own personal favorites.
We talk about aging different beers in cans and bottles at home.
This episode we spotlight 3 Mile Brewing in Davis Ca
A small taste of what its like hanging out with the gang, minus one member.
This episode we are both back from our travels and we discuss the beer scenes in various regions and compare and contrast the trends and popular styles.
Episode 3 - New Year's Special: Our Year in Beer by Beer Buddies for Life
For this episode we crack open our Goose Island Bourbon County Imperial Stout stash thats been aging for quite a while and give them a try. The tasting will include a 4 year vertical flight of the traditional bourbon county stout starting with a 2015 and ending with the new;y released 2018 bottle. We will also include tastings of 2 new special edition releases, an orange + cocoa bourbon stout and a bourbon barrel aged wheat.
