Shannon Struble has spent more than a decade prosecuting gang-related crimes in a county with a lot of violent gang activity. In this episode, she takes us inside the day-to-day life of a prosecutor. Shannon walks through the fast-paced charging process — where prosecutors have just 48 hours to review evidence and decide whether to file charges — negotiating pleas, and navigating the courtroom. She reflects on the vicarious trauma of watching crimes unfold on body cam footage, responding to homicide scenes at 2 a.m., and finding moments of reward when rehabilitation succeeds. Shannon also explores what justice really looks like and the role prosecutors can play in supporting rehabilitation, not just punishment. Shannon is a graduate of Arizona State University Sandra Day O'Connor School of Law.This episode is hosted by Kyle McEntee.Mentioned in this episode:Colorado LawLearn more about Colorado LawAccess LawHub today!
BT & Sal kick off a fiery debate on their Three Random Questions segment after having Giants legend Phil Simms on the show. The first question puts Simms head-to-head with Boomer Esiason in a one-game Super Bowl showdown, forcing the hosts to weigh Esiason's talent and MVP versus Simms' clutch performances and championship pedigree. Next, Sal recounts his recent disaster at MSG—sitting in gum—and asks which is worse: the sticky embarrassment or having a homeless person throw water in your face? The segment concludes with a question on survival: Could you survive a prison sentence if you were allowed to have your phone with you at all times? Tierney admits he'd crumble, while Sal argues the phone, and modern prison realities (like TikTok and streaming), might make the mental challenge bearable.
There are plenty of rags to riches stories, that while I honor greatly, don't specifically stand out to me. But this one…this one did. Andre Norman wasn't just in prison. And maximum security prison at that. He ran the prison. He was king of the inmates and ran gang activities from within the prison walls. He was granted immunity from most all the rules and regulations by the guards. Then on his way to yet another of 10+ attempted murders, he got a wake up call and realized he was king. King of…nothing. Thus began his journey to educate himself, work out of a 100+ year prison sentence, and become an acclaimed motivational speaker on hope. That is a dramatic life transformation to me. An incredible identity shift. And I wanted to understand the dynamics of his experience. Most of my guests are authors, but I seldom read the books completely. Andre's book, Ambassador Of Hope: Turning Poverty And Prison Into A Purpose Driven Life, I read cover to cover. His childhood story…I just broke my heart with. He went from prison king to Harvard. Literally. But even amongst the success he pursued, he still struggled. I dig into his story and he brought me to a discussion on the salvation he cites of accountability. And our propensity as humans to get involved in a pursuit out of a strong why, but then lose it to the what of what we are doing. And get lost, or as he did, come back to the why. I think you'll find this discussion convicting and sobering, as I did.
Weirdo Gang is an unapologetically bold, genre-defying rap collective made up of three visionary artists: Fliparachee, Ayara Senoj, and TK the Grate. Together, they represent a disruptive force in indie hip-hop—rooted in raw lyricism, eclectic energy, and deeply personal storytelling. With roots that transcend traditional regional boundaries, Weirdo Gang brings an innovativefusion of styles, perspectives, and flows that elevate the underground sound into a new creative stratosphere. Their debut album Gang Related, released on August 27, 2025, is a conceptual body of work that captures the trio's journey through identity, community, trauma, triumph, and self-definition. While the title nods to themes of street affiliation, the project is less about criminality and more about chosen family, loyalty, and the complex dualities of being “different” in a world that demands conformity. Weirdo Gang doesn't just rap; they build experiences. From high-impact live shows to cinematic visual rollouts, they've crafted an entire ecosystem around being proudly unconventional—and they welcome every outcast, misfit, and dreamer to join them.

From car rammings in Chicago to drive-by shootings, she breaks down the criminal networks, including Eighteenth Street and MS-13, and highlights the risks of sanctuary policies and Democratic protections. Ahoy, Gang! Here is a free taste of one of our premiere shows on our Patreon called, "Does This Come In Chromium with host, Matt Anderson! On this episode Matt and special guest co-host Matthew Dow Smith (writer/artist THE OCTOBER GIRL) turn out the lights to find out if the story contained within the pages of 1993's THE SPECTRE #13 shines brighter than its glow-in-the-dark cover. How is it that a comic published in 1993, set in a fictional country, featuring (the always cool) Count Vertigo, and starring a character with god-like powers can feel so relevant and relatable to today? Plus, Matt shares his opinion that the duo of John Ostrander and Tom Mandrake make for one of the greatest collaborations in all of comics (actually, this is not an opinion - it's an undeniable fact), while Matthew shares his true feelings on The Spectre (you'll have to listen to find out what they are). Also, they discuss Matthew's time as artist on the DAY OF JUDGEMENT series (written by Geoff John) and what it was like helping create a brand new Spectre. This is a jam packed episode - so don't miss it! Contact the show: doesthiscomeinchromium@gmail.com

Ep. 78 - LAPD Gang Detective Tim Pearce reflects on choosing law enforcement; working the CRASH Gang Unit with his partner Kristina Ripatti who would become his wife; and on the “Officer Needs Help” call that changed everything for them both.Tim joined LAPD in 1996 in the wake of the Rodney King riots and the OJ Simpson trial working Skid Row as a rookie and later what was then known as South Central. Tim was paired with Kristina who he met in the Academy as patrol partners and later as partners on the CRASH Gang Unit assigned to the Rollin' 30s Harlem Crips. We discuss all elements that go into collecting gang intel – the cars they drive, who they hang out with, their monikers, their secret monikers. He shares the hair-raising incident he responded to with Kristina that brought him face to face with a gangster and his shotgun and the millisecond decision that saved Tim's life.Tim and Kristina would marry in 2003 soon after have a daughter. They remained on the Gang Unit working separate districts. Then, on June 3, 2006, Tim and his partner responded to the “Officer Needs Help” call. That officer, he would soon learn, was Kristina. This is Tim's story. It's Kristina's story. It's also the story of what all of you risk every time you hit the streets. It is my feeling that the experiences of officers who have been injured in the line of duty and the impact on them and their loved ones is rarely told.It is important to note that through this experience, Tim has been inspired to help law enforcement in a unique way. He has created a gunshot wound simulator called Accuracy Under Fire — a training tool designed to help officers respond while injured and under direct attack. Tim believes AUFIRE will help save law enforcement and military lives. Please check out Tim's website to learn more.Accuracy Under Firehttps://www.aufire.com/tim@aufire.com Find Tim on LinkedInhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/timpearceaufire/We also talk about the fascinating story behind the film “Nothing to see here: Watts” which Tim helped produce and direct. There's a belief New Zealanders are no safer than they were before changes to the gun laws. A rewrite of the Arms Act simplifies rules for licensed owners for storage, repairs and visitor use, and adds harsher penalties. Gang members also won't be able to own a gun and semi-automatics will stay banned. Council of Licensed Firearms Owners spokesperson Hugh Devereux-Mack told Mike Hosking they were promised overwhelming reform but have only got a re-tweak of the existing law. He says the things that are mentioned are pretty good, but it's what is absent that is going to annoy a lot of licenced firearms owners who were expecting more. The United States may have an official day of gratitude every November with Thanksgiving, but for many of us, most every day could be a day of appreciation. A sincere "thank you" is rewarding for everyone: It feels good to say it and it feels good to hear it. However, appreciation can be complicated and "thank you" may come with a twist. Sometimes we're grateful (in hindsight, at least) for the lessons we've learned from difficult people. Sometimes we feel generalized happiness for family and/or friends. Sometimes we're just thankful to no one in particular that we're happy for no reason in particular. And of course sometimes expressions of gratitude are just a cover for dark feelings. In this episode of "How We Heard It" your hosts sift through an array of old and new songs that directly or indirectly express gratitude. Artists include Ariana Grande, Harry Styles, The Kinks, Sly and the Family Stone, The Beatles, Big Star, Natalie Merchant, Taylor Swift, Bob Hope, Elton John, Louis Armstrong, Rihanna, Gwen Stefani, The Beach Boys, Backstreet Boys, Alanis Morissette, James Taylor, Small Faces, Kool & the Gang, U2, Spice Girls, Boyz II Men and many more. Thanks for listening!

For sixteen harrowing years, from infancy to adolescence, Dave was not raised but trafficked across Scotland, shuttled between shadowy houses in Glasgow's underbelly, where priests - men cloaked in sanctity - presided over rituals of pure evil.Imagine a child, no older than six, locked inside a coffin in a moonlit garden. The lid slams shut. Stones rain down, each thud a mock burial, the air thick with terror as grown men laugh. This was no isolated incident. Dave and other children were taken to satanic sex parties - drugged, and violated by multiple predators, his screams drowned in a sea of depravity. These were not random acts of cruelty but organized atrocities, embedded in a network that preyed on the most vulnerable: children like Dave, with no family, no voice, no escape. His abusers were not strangers lurking in alleys. They were the very guardians entrusted with his care - priests, nuns, and officials hiding behind collars and titles. They targeted him because he had no one to run to. The system designed to protect him became his prison, its architects his tormentors. Dave's story rips the veil off a chilling truth: the safest place for a pedophile is the one with unlimited access to children. At sixteen, Dave broke free, but the scars never faded. Flashbacks still seize him - vivid, violent memories of coffins, altars, and blood. Other survivors find him, drawn to his courage, whispering testimonies that mirror his own. Their stories are not coincidences. They are proof of a systemic rot festering in plain sight, shielded by respectability and titles. But Dave is no victim. He is a disciple of defiance, anchored by an unshakable faith in Jesus Christ. In his darkest hour, he declared: “I am so grateful that God has chosen me to go out and show the evil that exists in Scotland and to tell the world to put His children first.”Because of Dave, the darkness is losing its grip. Because of Dave, the voiceless are finding their roar. Because of Dave, the next generations will inherit a Scotland - and a world - where the innocent are shielded by warriors who once walked through fire and chose, against all odds, to rise. The children of tomorrow will run free, laugh loud, and sleep in peace - because one orphan refused to stay silent, and instead became an unbreakable force.CONNECT WITH DAVE: X: https://x.com/davesharp59CONNECT WITH EMMA: YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@imaginationpodcastofficialRumble: https://rumble.com/c/TheImaginationPodcastEMAIL: imagineabetterworld2020@gmail.com OR standbysurvivors@protonmail.comMy Substack: https://emmakatherine.substack.com/BUY ME A COFFEE: hSupport the show
