Troy of The Secret Commonwealth emailed a sad follow up back in March to the news about his friend who was illegally held in ICE custody: "Marc, thank you so much for sharing the fundraiser for my friend on your new episode. It is with profoundly heavy heart that I have to tell you that my friend died last Sunday of a heart attack. He had been moved to a hospital in Mississippi and apparently suffered two successive attacks. His body is being returned now. To say we are devastated and infuriated would be inadequate to describe our state of being. We had just been sending his lawyers important records and documents that we felt, along with his obvious serious health conditions, had a very good chance of securing his release. We'll never know now if that would have proven to be true, but we just needed him to endure a little while longer, which he ultimately could not. He died one month short of a year since being detained by ICE. I have not yet publicly announced this in an update to our fundraiser because, frankly, it's still too fresh and painful to address. But any proceeds we've made will obviously now be put toward the cost of his funeral service. Sorry to impart this bad news, but I mostly wanted to express my gratitude to you for your kind support on behalf of Pejman's family, my girlfriend (who was his dearest friend in the world and who spearheaded this fight for his freedom) and for me. On Day 7 of the Tupac Shakur murder trial, a former gang detective told the jury what Duane "Keffe D" Davis's rank inside the South Side Compton Crips actually was. He explained what that rank means for who gives the orders.Robert Ladd, who spent years tracking the gang as part of Compton's two-man gang unit, identified Davis by a specific title in the hierarchy. He testified about Orlando Anderson's initiation, gang codes of respect, and what happens when a high-ranking member feels disrespected. The prosecution used Ladd to bridge a gap: Davis didn't fire the gun, but his position in the gang tells you whose decision it was. Greenidge, Tupac's childhood friend, corroborated where the shots came from — the back seat, not the front where Davis sat.Three analysts also walked the jury through Davis's Henderson home search from September 2023. During one of these vacation slots on July 6th, Toshpulodzoda used his passport to flee the United States.-----END TEARLINE-----Analyst Comments: In Utah, overnight more details have come to light regarding Monday's funeral shooting. The lead suspect at the moment is Afuhia Masiu Manatau, who pulled out a gun and attempted to kill an unidentified person at the funeral. At some point during the shootout, his son Tusi took his father's gun and continued to shoot at members of the Angilau family.Concerning the alleged victims, a correction to yesterday's report is needed as the fatality in this case is not the same person who was previously convicted of murder. The victim was Vilisoni Angilau (aged 18), and Vilisoni Angilau (aged 33) was previously convicted of crimes related to gang affiliation. Same exact name, same exact area, same exact family, same exact affiliation with the Ward, but different people. Turns out, the 18-year-old who was killed yesterday is also affiliated with the Tongan Crips, as evidenced by confirmed gang members and shotcallers mourning his death on Facebook. Local Tongans are claiming the victim is not affiliated with the gang, but social media posts indicate this is not true.The reason for why this matters is due to the elevated potential for a gang war to kick off, if it hasn't done so already. Clearly local police thought the same at the time, as they rolled way harder than they needed to in order to protect the hospital. Gang violence is very likely to continue to escalate within Utah over the next few weeks, and this is going to affect more people than just those in the gang. When the only Level 1 Trauma Center for hundreds of miles is locked down because hordes of Tongan Crips are trying to break down the doors after a gang shooting, this becomes more of a substantial concern than just some random gang war. Even in the legendary gang epicenters around the country, local hospitals don't have to worry about literally being overrun as if they were a forward-deployed military base in a foreign land. A pastor in San Bernardino was going door to door in the worst neighborhood of the city. He walked into a home and found a family in crisis. Their teenage daughter had made a pact with nine other young people to end their lives. He prayed with that family. All nine of them got saved. That's one story from one city where Mario Murillo set up a tent. I sit down with evangelist Mario Murillo to talk about what God is doing right now in the most unlikely places in America. Cities that make the news for violence, not revival. Mario's rule for where he goes is simple: it has to be an open wound. And what's been happening in San Bernardino and Stockton, California, is something the church desperately needs to hear. In both cities, youth outnumbered adults in a 40,000 square foot tent. Gang leaders, homeless young people, and kids looking for a reason to live showed up and left transformed. San Bernardino ended with the largest baptismal service the Inland Empire has ever seen, 1,000 people in water on a single Wednesday night. Stockton somehow exceeded even that. We also hear a testimony from a couple who spent years barely surviving, about what happened to them the morning after a worship service with no altar call, no word of knowledge, just the presence of God in the room.
