HR1 DIA New TSA Checkpoint, Possible Dem Pres Candidates, Snap Benefits and Soda 8-5-25 by John Rush
HHS secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. and Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins announce a Trump administration plan to prevent the use of SNAP benefits (food stamps) for 'sugary drinks' like Coca-Cola - including here in Colorado.SNAPDan argues this is an infringement on the dignity of low-income Americans, who should be free to obtain whatever grocery items they choose. Ryan spotlights the libertarian argument of a slippery slope in terms of government intervention on where one draws the line between 'healthy' and 'unhealthy' foods - and how are those defined?

SNAP will no longer be allowing people to buy soda. Should they be allowed to restrict what people buy in that way?
Ryan Wrecker interviews Ryan Wiggins, host of Wiggins America, about the recent announcement that SNAP benefits will no longer cover sugary drinks, a move pushed by RFK Jr. They discuss the implications of using taxpayer money to subsidize soda purchases and the broader health impact on low-income Americans. Wiggins reflects on past debates over food policies, including Michelle Obama's school nutrition initiatives, and praises RFK Jr.'s more focused approach. They also touch on the revolving door between regulators and industry and the challenges of shifting unhealthy habits. The segment ends with a teaser for Wiggins' weekend show covering SNAP in-depth and the ongoing political drama around Texas gerrymandering.
Out of place, even back home. Sofie Hagen left Denmark to pursue comedy in London—and came back a different person. This conversation with Derek, Conrad, and Brooke explores the mix of pride, pressure, and self-doubt that can come with returning to your home country after years abroad. But because the topic is comedy—across Denmark, the UK, and back again—it's anything but heavy. There's also a detour into stationery obsessions and homesick cravings for red soda and rye bread. From navigating Denmark's deeply rooted humility culture (Janteloven) to relearning how to write jokes in her native language, Sofie opens up about identity shifts, outsider feelings, and why it's harder to be funny in Danish than in English. It's a thoughtful, hilarious look at creativity, community, and the weirdness of repatriation. Whether you've lived abroad, felt like too much, or wondered how culture shapes your voice, this one's for you.August 14-16, 2025: Sofie Hagen With Friends:https://billetto.dk/e/sofie-hagen-with-friends-billetter-1313358What Are You Doing in Denmark podcast:https://instagram.com/waydidpodhttps://facebook.com/waydidpodhello@robe-trotting.comhttps://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLFCSH6KqKooZmSx1GJu9CWZYjX8esjl2FSofie Hagen (Guest)https://www.instagram.com/sofiehagendkhttps://www.comedyzoo.dk/event/1313358-7b2afhttps://www.sofiehagen.com/ Derek Hartman: https://www.instagram.com/derekhartmandk https://youtube.com/c/robetrottinghttps://tiktok.com/@derekhartmandkwww.facebook.com/robetrottingBrooke Black:https://instagram.com/brookeblackjusthttps://www.tiktok.com/@brookeblackjustConrad Molden:https://instagram.com/conradmoldencomedyhttps://youtube.com/c/conradmoldenhttps://tiktok.com/@conradmolden https://facebook.com/conradmoldenhttps://www.conradmolden.dk

Spend the night inside a soda machine. Think cold, refreshing thoughts — and dodge that audio-hyperglycemic earworm. My youngest is all about the Saja Boys and “Soda Pop” is her song of the summer. Alexa even recognizes what she means when she's like “Alexa, play 'Soda Pop.'” Alexa isn't playing Robbie Williams. [Unearned quippy banter line, “has anyone seen the monkey movie?”] Speaking of movies the Saja Boys are characters in this entire summer's movie Kpop Demon Hunters (which is an amazing animated film and ****** charming). Our house has been filled with the animated band's sugary suite ode to everyone's favorite carbonated corn syrup water. Not even ten yet and she was able to figure out download and single-track repeat “Soda Pop” over an entire evening (I certainly didn't teach her; not since showing her how to make the dryer chirp… which led to our dryer randomly singing in the middle of the night). Basically this is for you sweetie, a way to enjoy your soda pop without introducing that ear worm into my head.

Story at-a-glance Drinking just one sugary beverage a day increases your risk of developing Type 2 diabetes by 25%, even if you're not overweight Boys who consume daily sugary drinks in childhood show a 34% rise in insulin resistance by age 17, along with higher fasting glucose levels Unlike glucose, which is used by every cell in your body, fructose is processed only by your liver — and in excess, it gets turned into fat, driving fatty liver disease and insulin resistance Fructose from whole fruit is not harmful because it's absorbed slowly with fiber and nutrients, but processed fructose in soda, including high-fructose corn syrup, floods your liver and overwhelms your mitochondria Replacing just one daily soda with water, coffee or tea reduces your risk of Type 2 diabetes by 17%, making it one of the easiest and most effective prevention strategies

Apostolic Pentecostals have long taken a strong stand against substances that harm the body—tobacco, alcohol, illegal drugs, and the abuse of prescription medications. But if we condemn smoking and drinking for destroying the body, what about overconsumption of sugar, soda, and junk food which contribute to obesity, diabetes, and other serious health conditions? In this thought-provoking podcast episode, Dr. David K. Bernard tackles a challenging question: what biblical and practical guidelines should Apostolics follow when it comes to physical health and the stewardship of our bodies? He also explores the rise of energy drinks and highly caffeinated beverages, especially among youth and young adults. Are these modern stimulants harmless pick-me-ups, or do they pose spiritual and physical risks worth considering?Whether you're trying to make healthier choices or understand the biblical principles behind lifestyle decisions, this episode offers clarity, conviction, and compassion.Visit PentecostalPublishing.com to shop Dr. Bernard's full catalog of published works.
