Gary & Shannon fire up #WhatsHappening with the day’s biggest headlines: President Trump kicks off his 2026 midterm blitz, Pepsi quietly purges fan-favorite products, and Coke continues to dominate the soda battlefield. Plus, the Colts make it official: Grandpa Phillip Rivers is back under center. Then it’s #TerrorInTheSkies, where international flight attendants reveal the most bizarre and frequently asked questions they get mid-air… and Gary insists there’s a strict three-hour conversation limit before flight attendant detailed interactions become more necessary. For #TrueCrimeTuesday, the NY Post’s wild exclusive takes center stage: a nepo-baby accused of killing his girlfriend and immediately calling Dad to lawyer up. The hour wraps with another jaw-dropper, the kayaker who faked his own death to escape his marriage, only to resurface, get caught, and now… walk free.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Edwin Chen is the founder and CEO of Surge AI, the company that teaches AI what's good vs. what's bad, powering frontier labs with elite data, environments, and evaluations. Surge surpassed $1 billion in revenue with under 100 employees last year, completely bootstrapped—the fastest company in history to reach this milestone. Before founding Surge, Edwin was a research scientist at Google, Facebook, and Twitter and studied mathematics, computer science, and linguistics at MIT.We discuss:1. How Surge reached over $1 billion in revenue with fewer than 100 people by obsessing over quality2. The story behind how Claude Code got so good at coding and writing3. The problems with AI benchmarks and why they're pushing AI in the wrong direction4. How RL environments are the next frontier in AI training5. Why Edwin believes we're still a decade away from AGI6. Why taste and human judgment shape which AI models become industry leaders7. His contrarian approach to company building that rejects Silicon Valley's “pivot and blitzscale” playbook8. Step into Episode 188 of On The Delo as Delo sits down with Hunu founders Deyton and Breaben to break down how two former college wide receivers turned their love of soda into a superfood sports drink built for athletes and students. From juicing in a tiny kitchen and running late-night “chemistry labs” to navigating manufacturing, testing, and regulations, they share the real story behind creating a soda that's actually made from whole foods and designed to support recovery, immunity, and everyday performance. From patience and integrity in formulation to the pressures of social media, money myths, and working day jobs while bootstrapping a beverage brand, this conversation goes deep on what it really takes to build something that's good for people without cutting corners. The trio also explores earth-based healing, Irish sea moss, shifting drinking culture among Gen Z, and Hunu's bigger mission with a Healthy Soda Act to get better options into schools and youth programs, all while keeping it fun, human, and honest. If you're into entrepreneurship, wellness, or just want a smarter way to enjoy soda, this episode will give you both inspiration and practical perspective.Chapter Guide (Timestamps):(0:00 - 2:11) Freestyle Intro, Delo's Cold Open, and Meeting the Hunu Founders(2:12 - 4:22) College Football, Wide Receiver Room Stories, and the Spark for a Better Beverage(4:23 - 7:28) Patience, Integrity, and Refusing to Cut Corners in Building a Whole-Food Formula(7:29 - 10:51) From Shirt Business to CPG: Learning the Beverage Game and Naming Hunu (“Who Knew”)(10:52 - 15:28) Regulations, Testing, Manufacturing Partners, and Funding the Brand While Working Day Jobs(15:29 - 21:05) Money Myths, Social Media Illusions, and Attention as a Non‑Negotiable Business Pillar(21:06 - 24:55) Superfood Sports Soda: Irish Sea Moss, Athlete Recovery, and Redefining What “Soda” Can Be(24:56 - 32:31) Gen Z Drinking Shifts, Earth-Based Healing, and Discovering Sea Moss, Maca, and Moringa(32:32 - 36:36) Whole-Food Eating, Fasting, Movement, and Designing a Lifestyle You Actually Enjoy(36:37 - 43:06) Healthy Soda Act, Petitions, Distribution Dreams, Rapid-Fire Questions, and Delo's Close

In today's episode, we're diving into what happens in our body when we drink soda pop. I'm sharing this knowledge to empower you to decide for yourself and your children if soda pop deserves a spot in your home. I often forget that soda pop is standard operating procedure for most Americans, but then a patient will come in and they are drinking a case of Dr. Pepper or another of late who started their day with a Diet Coke. 7 reasons to stop drinking soda pop 1. Mineral Depletion 2. Insulin and cortisol dysregulation 3. Gut microbiome injury from artificial sweeteners 4. Reduced stomach acid and digestive capacity 5. Uric acid and inflammation 6.

We're back with another AFTN Soccer Show packed full of Vancouver Whitecaps, Major League Soccer, and World Cup chat and interviews. The long wait is almost over for the big MLS Western Conference semi-final between the Whitecaps and LAFC. We set the scene for the match-up and hear thoughts from Whitecaps coach Jesper Sorensen, Whitecaps centre-back Tristan Blackmon, MLS studio analyst Dax McCarty, and MLS match analyst Maurice Edu about the game and the playoff rivalry. We also sit down for a chat with a man who's been through these games for the last two years and is back fit and ready to go in this one, Whitecaps striker Brian White. Our feature interview this episode is with Whitecaps club reporter Sarita Patel. We chat with Sarita about her broadcasting journey so far, her time in Vancouver, and the wild year that 2025 has been, with hopefully more to come! In a monumental week for the league, we look at the MLS schedule change, the move to a fall to spring season, and the changes to MLS' Apple TV deal. Plus we talk World Cup 2026 qualifiers, more anger-inducing ticket releases, and Canada crashing out of the U17 World Cup in an epic, but ugly, penalty shootout. Music-wise, Camper van Beethoven continue their residency as our Album of the Month, we've two Britpop songs from Powder and Soda, and a Siberian post punk techno band feature in Wavelength. Back in my younger days, when I came of legal drinking age, the choices were pretty simple. You had beer, you had wine, and you had liquor. Of course, there were different flavors and brands, but you basically had three distinct choices. Today, I can't even count the number of options we have. In addition to beer, wine, and liquor, we now have hard seltzer, hard cider, and something called hard soda. It's one of the newer choices in adult beverages. But is it really that new? Because when you learn all about it, you realize it's just like Zima, which made a brief appearance in the mid-'90s. One of these new hard sodas is trying to make a splash here in Nashville, and it is likely targeting our Lower Broadway tourist area... Victoria only meant to ask her father-in-law a question. She knocks, waits, and hears a knock back—playful, human. Except he isn't in the room. He's walking in from the garage on the far side of the house. Years earlier, the same man faced something darker. Soda cans crashed in the night, children whispered to invisible friends, and a little girl's mattress shoved itself off the frame. When they finally moved out, a neighbor told him the truth: a teenage girl had been murdered in that very room. Alone a few nights later, he woke to the sound of breathing beside his bed—followed by one word that sent him running. Elsewhere, two girls press their faces to the dusty window of an abandoned home, daring each other to look inside. Then come the piano notes—two clear tones from a house that should be silent. And miles away, a mother watches her daughter speak to spirits she can name, people long dead but somehow still present. Sometimes hauntings don't end when you leave the house. Sometimes they pass through the bloodline. #RealGhostStories #HauntedHouse #GetOut #MurderedTeen #Poltergeist #PianoNotes #DoorKnock #ChildMedium #LasVegasHaunting #UtahGhostStory #FamilyHaunting #ParanormalPodcast Love real ghost stories? The hosts break down Recess' $30 million raise, pound shots of olive oil, and wonder if Ben Stiller's nostalgic soda brand can make it in middle America. Oh, and someone bottled a hot sauce wrapped in a real $100 bill. Show notes: 0:25: Take Your Best Shot. Deadlines, People. Pivot & Win. A Benny With Every Bottle. Ben's Beer. – The show opens with a sampling of Kosterina's new high-phenolic extra virgin olive oil shot, which has a spicier kick that some of the hosts realize. Ep. 220 If you've been pouring from an empty cup, this is your reminder that rest isn't a luxury—it's necessary for healing and restoration. As women, we're taught to keep adding—roles, goals, responsibilities—until rest feels “unnatural.” During the Aligned Entrepreneur Pod-a-Thon, I sat down with Sleep Coach Soda Kuczkowski to name that conditioning, release the guilt, and practice rest as a pathway to healing and aligned leadership. We unpack why exhaustion became the norm and how to restore clarity, creativity, and peace with science-backed habits that actually fit a real woman's life. Should SNAP benefits cover soda and candy? Six states get federal approval to exclude them, and Sarah and Beth debate whether this is smart public health policy or government overreach—wrestling with the tension between the "nutrition" and "assistance" parts of the program's mission. Should tax dollars subsidize products that make people less healthy? Sarah and Beth explore the "common sense politics" of restricting junk food purchases, Sarah's personal experience using SNAP cards during COVID, and whether the Biden administration should have approved state waivers as experiments instead of blocking them. Is the soda industry the real villain? Sarah calls soda "poison" and predicts it will be viewed like cigarettes in decades to come, while Beth argues the government should regulate the industry upstream rather than police individual purchases downstream. Plus: Bedtime routines, sleep struggles, and why Beth can sleep through anything while Sarah wakes up at the slightest sound. Ready to go deeper? 270: I sat down with Ryland and Mollie Engelhart, farmers, filmmakers and real food advocates. This dynamic brother-sister duo is at the forefront of the regenerative farming movement, which they've explored in the critically-acclaimed documentaries “Kiss the Ground” and “Common Ground.” We're talking about MAHA (and where it can improve), rethinking SNAP to include whole foods, and the dire challenges facing local farms today. Topics Discussed: → How can we make health and nutrition a truly bipartisan issue? → What changes does MAHA need to actually support real food reform? → How could reframing SNAP bring more whole foods to families in need? → Are corporations and the government helping or harming our food system? → What can we do to save family farms and strengthen local food economies? A decade ago, Allison Ellsworth was drinking apple cider vinegar for health reasons and doctoring it with fruit so she could stand the taste. Her husband Stephen helped her turn it into a business by adding carbonation on a hacked soda line in their Dallas townhouse. They called it “Mother Beverage,” and sold out every week at the farmers market…but then heard the words no founder forgets: “Your branding is…sh*t.” What happens next is one of the wildest CPG glow-ups of the 2010s: a Shark Tank deal with brand whisperer Rohan Oza, a full rebrand to Poppi, colored cans that jumped off the shelf, a launch derailed by Covid—and finally, an explosion fueled by Amazon, TikTok, and a Super Bowl moment that planted the flag: We're soda–and we've left the farmers market for good. Five years after its rebrand, Poppi was acquired by Pepsi for nearly $2B. This is the story of the messy bottling line, saying no to “dumb money,” baptism by Shark Tank, and building a generational brand while staying married. In this episode, you'll learn:How rebranding can rescue a beverage, and when to avoid early eye-rolls The hit-and-miss of carbonating on a small scale (and why co-packers said no).How the risky decision to call Poppi “soda” unlocked a new retail set (functional soda). What a Shark Tank partner does during a rebrand window. How Allison seized on TikTok to spike sales during Covid Timestamps:0:10:15 Meeting cute at a snowboard shop → engagement in 7 months 0:14:00 How apple cider vinegar helped Allison's health…but tasted terrible (early flavor hacks) 0:22:36 DIY carbonation disasters: exploding bottles & the 40°F lesson 0:42:28 Selling out at the Dallas Farmers Market 0:37:48 Appearing on Shark Tank while nine months pregnant and the deal with Rohan: “your branding is sh*t.”0:47:02 The nail-biting rebrand from “Mother” to Poppi: colored cans vs. white, and winning the shelf 0:53:44 Expo West canceled by Covid → a massive turnaround fueled by Amazon, Shark Tank, and TikTok1:05:51 Super Bowl ad– “We're soda!”--and the road to a ~$2B Pepsi acquisition 1:07:58 Growing a business while managing a marriage Follow How I Built This:Instagram → @howibuiltthisX → @HowIBuiltThisFacebook → How I Built ThisFollow Guy Raz:Instagram → @guy.razX → @guyrazSubstack → guyraz.substack.comWebsite → guyraz.comThis episode was produced by Rommel Wood with music composed by Ramtin Arablouei.
