Send us a textIs your beer stash a sexy investment or just a fridge full of overpriced regrets? We pop open some aged Goose Island Bourbon County Stout to see if beer collecting is a high-class hobby or just a bougie way to justify borderline alcoholism. Jesse's decluttering tips hit harder than a morning hangover, sparking a debate about what's worth saving and what needs to be chugged before it goes bad—just like your dreams. Then, we dive deep into a cowboy kink phase no one asked for. Can you pull off a ten-gallon hat without looking like you cosplay Yellowstone? Probably not, but watching us try is worth it. Somewhere between fashion faux pas and midlife crises, we discover that “hat guy” energy is a slippery slope. Our weekend recap? Absolute carnage. A near fistfight at a Liverpool-Man United match, a shoegaze meltdown at Tulips, and a bouncer who went from menace to bestie in the span of a mosh pit. Add a potential TikTok ban, new apps designed to steal your soul (looking at you, “Red Note” and “Lemonade”), and the unsettling rise of AI bots that want your face, your job, and possibly your spouse. If that's not enough chaos, we roast streaming prices, debate nuclear fission vs. fusion (because we're fancy like that), and make bold Super Bowl predictions that will probably age like milk. New Years Eve is upon us, and with that comes some fod memories of some heavy weight beers that Jordan and I have tried over the years. This year, Jordan and I celebrate by pulling a couple of our rare and special bottles of barrel aged bubbly out of the aging vault and throw in a new contender we bought this holiday season to see if 2016 Goose Island Bourbon County Stout is still the GOAT. If 2016 Goose Island BCS stays on top, or if it gets dethroned, there are no losers here at this NYE party.
An unwanted Xmas present from us to you, another OG Whiskey Wednesday! The OG WWs are becoming almost quarterly at this point and we had a almost full table to boot. We tried Jefferson's Rye Whiskey Finished in Cognac Casks, Three different types of Goose Island Bourbon County Stout, as well as finishing the pod with a bottle of Papa Pilar Aged Rum Ernest Hemmingway edition. We also chatted about pop-up bars, Star Wars experience hotel, camel beauty contests, and more. Join us as the entire table proceeds to verbally keelhaul Thomas for the opening 15 minutes.
Happy Thanksgiving! We are sure the NFL and Fox are not thankful for this matchup! 3 total wins between these awful teams. We break down this week's Nagy drama. Only Da beloved and their inept management could pull this off. Tomorrow is Black Friday and that means Goose Island Bourbon County Stout, a tradition since 1992. We are hearing this year's Double Barrel Toasted Stout is great. As always, we love the Chicago Bears and we love beers. Go Bears!
Welcome to the Chicago Beer Pass: Your ticket to all the great beer events happening in and around Chicago.Hopefully everyone enjoyed the previous episode where Brad Chmielewski and Nik White dove into the Goose Island Bourbon County Stout lineup for 2021. On this episode of Chicago Beer Pass, Brad and Nik open a few cans of Bloodletter from Old Irving Brewing. It’s been awhile since the guys have seen a Red IPA on the shelves so it was a treat to revisit this after riding the hazy train for so long. As the guys crush a few cans, they talk about trips to Eris, Old Irving and Illuminated Brew Works. Finally, they wrap up the episode going over controversy at Mikkeller, an issue that Good Beer Hunting went deep into on their site.Having issues listening to the audio? We explore the history of beer flights (who's got the good ones around the world), flying with beer (how to pack it in your luggage) and talk to Jeremy about being a pilot and a home brewer...how traveling influences that hobby and where to find cool beers and breweries. Nothing is certain and all of life is a lie. We drink five Midwestern barrel-aged stouts without knowing what they are to test their true quality and our very confidence in ourselves. And it is discovered that we, in fact, are terrible. But major surprises abound as we mostly play a new game we should call “Is This Bourbon County?” And we learn that spotting a fresh stout in a sea of aged beers is not as easy as one would expect. There’s also stuff about Everclear, pro-wrestling, Wu-Tang, the “Clue” movie, Craig’s hog, and Ryan’s newest brewery idea. Is it getting existential in here, or is just me?
