Sometimes the best Disney trips aren't the ones where you do the most… They're the ones where you finally slow down enough to feel it. This week on the podcast, I sat down with my longtime buddy Bubba—a true Geekin' family member—who came back to Walt Disney World after stepping away for a while… and had a trip that completely changed his perspective. And honestly… this one stuck with me. Planning a Trip? If you're thinking about planning your next Disney vacation and some Epic Universe… My wife Margita and our good friend Auntie Judy are the Travelin' Tiaras — your trusted Disney travel planners. Whether you're booking Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, Universal, or beyond… They'll help you plan a smart, stress-free vacation from start to finish. Already booked? You can transfer your reservation to us and still get expert tips, strategy, and support — and it's a great way to support the show. TravelinTiaras@gmail.comOr reach out on Facebook Messenger. And right now… there are great opportunities for upcoming travel, so it's a perfect time to start planning. Featuring Bubba Bubba has been part of this community for years—but this trip? This one was different. After going to Disney constantly for a stretch, he stepped away for a bit. And when he came back… everything felt new again. Not because the parks changed— But because he did. A Different Kind of Disney Trip This wasn't about rope dropping rides or stacking Lightning Lanes. This was about: Resort hopping at a relaxed pace Sitting in Adirondack chairs for 45 minutes doing absolutely nothing Trying new experiences like boating on Seven Seas Lagoon Enjoying quiet moments at places like Port Orleans French Quarter And that's where things started to shift. French Quarter—something he never expected to love—ended up being one of the highlights of the entire trip. Small. Peaceful. Walkable. Sometimes… that's all you need. Doing Less… and Getting More Here's the wild part: Bubba didn't even ride Guardians. Didn't ride Tron. Didn't chase every big attraction. And you know what? He didn't miss it. Instead, he leaned into: After Hours events to ride what mattered Unique experiences like Keys to the Kingdom Incredible food moments (yes… including that legendary cookie dough ice cream sandwich) And simply being present The Moment That Changed Everything But like always… the heart of the trip wasn't the rides. It was something deeper. During the trip, Bubba shared the story of losing his brother—the person who first introduced him to Disney through Beauty and the Beast. And then… one night… On a quiet carriage ride… They crested a hill just as Beauty and the Beast was ending across the water. Perfect timing. No planning. Just one of those moments. The kind that makes you stop and feel like… Maybe there's something more going on here. Why This Trip Meant More That moment set the tone for everything that followed. This trip became about: Connection Reflection Slowing down And appreciating where your Disney story began Because sometimes… Disney isn't about what you do. It's about what you feel while you're there. Final Thoughts This episode is a reminder that there's no “right way” to do Disney. You can go hard… Or you can slow it down… But if you're open to it— The magic will meet you where you are. What was supposed to be a romantic birthday hike in Hawaii turned into a nightmare. In March 2025, anesthesiologist Gerhardt Konig and his wife, Arielle, set out on a scenic trail overlooking Oahu's cliffs. But according to Arielle, the outing took a violent turn when her husband allegedly tried to push her off the edge before attacking her with a rock. She survived only after fighting back and reaching nearby hikers who called for help.In court, Arielle described a terrifying struggle, claiming her husband assaulted her and told her no one would hear her screams. But Gerhardt told a very different story. He claimed the incident was a result of a heated argument over alleged infidelity, insisting he acted in self-defense during a physical altercation. The defense argued he was in a state of extreme emotional distress—not acting with intent to kill. After hearing both sides, the jury reached a split conclusion. Gerhardt Konig was found guilty, not of attempted murder, but of attempted manslaughter under extreme emotional disturbance. The verdict leaves lingering questions about what truly happened on that trail… and how a relationship that once seemed stable escalated into violence.#TrueCrimeRecaps #GerhardtKonig #ArielleKonig #TrialUpdate

Pioneering radio artist Larry Massett, a producer's producer, who led listeners into unexpected worlds and influenced so many in public radio and beyond, died last year at the age of 80. The Kitchen Sisters were fortunate to work with Larry on our NPR series Lost & Found Sound and Soundprint. He was a friend and colleague. We learned of Larry's passing last spring on Transom.org, the premiere site for producers to come together, share their work, and access the latest tools and advice. It was there that we found a “Requiem for Larry Massett” created by Barrett Golding of Hearing Voices. We asked Barrett if he'd help produce an audio piece and bring it to air. He said yes. Transom said yes. And all of the producers who offered their memories said yes. And so, yes!The Kitchen Sisters Present: “A Requiem for Larry Massett” — produced in collaboration with Barrett Golding and Transom.org.  Featuring excerpts from some of Larry Massett's iconic radio works including: Listen Up: Piano Down the Stairs, A Trip to the Dentist, Helium Filled Astronaut, Death in Venice, The Road, Solidad, Apache Elder and more. With remembrances from Larry's friends and colleagues: Jay Allison, Art Silverman, Bob Boilen, Rob Rosenthal, Joe Frank, Jesse Boggs, Katie Davis, Erica Heilman, Susan Stamberg, Keith Talbot, Robin Wise, Scott Carrier.Special thanks to Transom, Hearing Voices, NPR, Soundprint, Jake Fleming, The Shed Studio. Congress is holding a private meeting with survivors of Jeffrey Epstein as part of an expanding bipartisan probe into how the Department of Justice handled Epstein's prosecution. The House Oversight Committee, which has already subpoenaed former officials including Alex Acosta and demanded Epstein-related Suspicious Activity Reports from the Treasury Department, is positioning these survivor meetings as critical to uncovering the full scope of failures and possible cover-ups. Lawmakers want to hear directly from those most affected, not only about Epstein's crimes but also about how institutions may have ignored or mishandled their pleas for justice.Alongside the closed-door session, several survivors are also expected to appear publicly at a Capitol press conference organized by Representatives Ro Khanna and Thomas Massie. This event will push for greater transparency, including the release of sealed files tied to Epstein's network. Survivors and their advocates argue that without disclosure, accountability remains out of reach, and they warn that any attempt to bury these records would deepen public distrust. The coordinated private testimony and public advocacy signal a renewed, aggressive phase of congressional scrutiny into Epstein's ties, finances, and protection.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:House lawmakers to meet with Jeffrey Epstein's victims amid probe of 'suspicious' financial transactionsBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-epstein-chronicles--5003294/support.

The first time Robert Draper heard about the psychedelic drug ibogaine, it was from an unlikely source: the retired U.S. senator Kyrsten Sinema. As a political reporter for The New York Times, Draper often talks to figures like Ms. Sinema. But on this occasion, he said, she wanted to tell him about how she had tried ibogaine, which is illegal in the United States. She'd become such a believer in the drug that she was pushing her home state of Arizona to fund clinical trials for veterans with combat-related trauma. Draper found that Ms. Sinema wasn't the only politician to take up the cause. Rick Perry, the former Texas governor, Republican presidential candidate and Trump energy secretary, has also advocated for research into ibogaine in recent years and taken the drug himself. In 2025, because of Mr. Perry's efforts, Texas became the first state to dedicate public funds to ibogaine research with veterans. Recent studies of ibogaine at Stanford University and elsewhere suggest that it might prove effective in treating post-traumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injuries, addiction and a range of other conditions. As Draper reported on ibogaine's transformative effects on others, he wondered: Could it help him, too? Today, on “The Sunday Daily,” Natalie Kitroeff talks to Robert Draper about what drew him to travel to Mexico to try ibogaine, and how his trip changed his life. On Today's Episode:  Robert Draper (usually) writes about domestic politics for The New York Times. Background Reading: It's an Obscure Psychedelic Used to Treat Trauma. Could It Help Me?
