As the SABC celebrates its 75th year, another historical moment in our country's history was the Convention for a Democratic South Africa CODESA; a series of multi-party negotiations in South Africa from 1991 to 1993, aimed at ending apartheid and establishing a democratic government. It involved various political parties, including the African National Congress (ANC) and the National Party (NP), and focused on drafting a new constitution and establishing an interim government. Negotiations covered crucial topics such as the structure of the new constitution, the establishment of an interim government, and the future of the divided homelands. Let us hear more from the late former South African President Nelson Mandela on the formation of CODESA...
There's no place like home. On my most recent trip back to the Bay Area, I met so many versions of myself. The one I was most surprised by was my graceful self. On this brief episode of Life Will Be, I reflect on what it means to be home and be present in the moment.

Pull up a chair, and listen to two old friends talk about Metro Detroit. I recently was a guest on the IT in the D podcast a bit back with Bob Waltenspiel. As always, we don't agree on everything - but we've known each other through the podcasting world for many years. Bob, through IT in the D events, they've gotten countless people jobs; thrown a bunch of networking events, and more. He went to Wayne State in Detroit, is often in the city and works in the city.. but lives in the suburbs. His podcast, IT in the D, has been on the virtual air pretty much weekly for more than a decade talking local tech, local geek culture, and have fun along the way. You can find IT in the D at ITintheD.com, and wherever podcasts are found. Me and Bob are a few years apart in age, come at things from different perspectives, and saw different phases of the city and region. From days as a DJ, to dive bars, to changes we've seen over the last couple decades. Obviously, there are so many more perspectives than ours. Think of this as more of a fun trip down memory lane. Daily Detroit shares what to know and where to go in Detroit every day. Tune in for good vibes, honest conversation, and a reminder that true friendship stands the test of time.

This episode is a little different in two ways. First, I didn't record it in my studio. I recorded it at the SMTA Pan Pacific strategic Electronics symposium, affectionately known as PanPac, in beautiful Maui Hawaii. Each year, I record a Reliability Matters podcast at PanPac. Normally, the format of the show is I ask questions, and my guests provide answers. On this episode however, I decided to let my guest do all of the talking. The theme of this episode is Electronics: Down Memory Lane and a Vision for the Future. My three guests on this episode will share their view of the history of electronics from three different perspectives. My guests are Dr. Ron Lasky from Dartmouth College, Dr John Evans, and Dr. Tom Duval, both from Auburn University. They'll share their perspectives on the history of the electronics industry in presentation format.

Hello and happy new year, you lovely lot. Please allow us a moment of self indulgence now, as all three of us bring you a bonus episode looking back on where we were 4 years ago, when we first began this lovely little writing / podcasting project.Because for some inexplicable reason, we've decided to take our first ever episode and provide a kind of 'director's commentary' over it.There will be cringing. There will be self-reflection. There might even be the odd moment of pride - as we look back at just how far we've come.Well... alright... admittedly, from the outside it doesn't look like we've come very far, does it?But the journey is long my friends, and the road is badly paved, and we're all easily distracted by all the fascinating little distractions along the way, aren't we?So try not to judge too hard. In this fortnight's episode Gyles and Aphra Brandreth meet teenage poet and activist Victoria Kanu. Better known as Vicky the Poet, she is a household name in Sierra Leone and a national icon who has used her talent to transform and impact lives. She is now a major voice for women and girls within the country and beyond. Vicky started writing poetry from the age of 5, but it was a poem that she wrote following the mudslides in 2017 that destroyed hundreds of buildings in the capital, killing over a thousand people and leaving thousands homeless, which caught the attention of the world. Since then, with the support of her father and mentor Alim Kanu she has written and performed numerous poems highlighting the conditions for young people particularly young girls living in Sierra Leone.Poems this episode include: The mother by Elizabeth L A Kamara; and A heart Reaching, The Story of an African Child from the book Unfinished Business, The story of Kadiatu, Down Memory Lane in Sierra Leone, and Nightmares of the Internet, all by Victoria Kanu.
