Over the last 20 years, I have spent a great part of my career creating opportunities for dancers to discover, develop, and demonstrate their passion for dance. I have met this challenge while being broke, scared, tired, and lost. But when you know the calling on your life, giving up is not an option. Dance has been such an amazing gift to me. Some of the most devastating moments in my life happened in and through dance. However, I have experienced some of my greatest joys and accomplishments as a dancer and a creative. It wasn't that long ago that I found myself unable to afford rent or gas. Fast forward a few years, I get to lead a company that builds community for women (Hip Hop Heels), and another that still remains the largest celebration of hip hop dance in the south (Dallas Hip-Hop Dance Festival). The weekly sold out classes are simply the icing on the cake. This podcast will cover a wide variety of topics - dance, business, love, leadership, God, finances, sex/sexuality, fitness... LIFE. My goal is to streamline my resources and knowledge to help dancers (and anyone who will listen) create a life worth dancing for. Throughout my life and career, one thing has become very apparent - when all is said and done, what truly matters in life and yes, in dance, happens beyond the dance floor.
Do you still set goals at the beginning of the year? I did too, until now. Something I have discovered over the last few years is that my goals don't work unless I do. I know we've all heard that one before. However, it is true! How many of us still set goals at the beginning of the year only to get to March or April and discover we've made very little head way ...? Let me offer up another viewpoint that will hopefully challenge your mindset and create a shift that will last longer than the goals you set last year. In this episode: Give me 50Let's get uncomfortable Are you invested in the answer? Change your mindset, change your life Connect with Stephanie: https://www.instagram.com/geenadriven/

It's the hottest dance style in the world today. I started teaching heels classes in 2010 and have had a front row seat, along with the world, to its evolution. Too often I find myself in conversations about where it all began, and the current state of heels classes all over the world, and what we really do gain from it all.
Pretty sure we all walked away from 2021 with quite a few lessons. Mine are not necessarily "new" lessons. However, they became more apparent to me this past year. What are some things that you learned in 2021, and how are you applying them to your life in this new year? Cheers!
A handful of times in my career I have been asked what I think is the difference between a dancer in Dallas and a dancer in LA. In this episode I got to sit down with two dancers who have experienced being a professional dancer in both cities - ShirJuanda "Bounce" Woodson and Marcus Anthony II. Both of Bounce is from Dallas, and Marcus is from Houston. Some of you may have been thinking about this question but never asked out loud. The answers may practical and obvious, and that's because they are! Connect with Bounce: https://www.instagram.com/i.am.bounce/ Connect with Marcus: https://www.instagram.com/marcusanthonyii/
Malcolm Gladwell suggests that not everyone is given equal opportunities and if we all were … well life would be a little different. While everyone is not given equal opportunities, everyone is given an opportunity at some point in their life. Now whether you are in a place to recognize the opportunity or not, is up to you. And what you choose to do with those opportunities is completely up to you. It's not the whole story, but here's a quick look at how a little girl from the south of Cameroon ended up in Texas running a handful of businesses for fun. And the "village" that helped to make her who she is today.
Building a brand is hard enough, now let's garner the support of complete strangers talk them into buying our product/services regularly?? Starting a business is not for the faint of heart. Not at all. If you take anything away from this episode, let it be this - authenticity and consistency. Hear my voice saying that you over and over and over again.
The tip of the iceberg. Building your brand, or a brand around a service or product, is not for the faint of heart. Nope not at all! In this episode I give you some very simple, effective and practical handles on building your brand. Now get bold and go build something amazing!
Seriously. What the heck am I? Am I even doing this right? Lol. How many times have you struggled to define your role in dance? A few years ago I attempted to define who is a dancer, performer, choreographer, instructor and teacher. I observed people functioning in these titles for a while then arrived at the definitions you will hear in this episode.
We are 1 week away from Episode 1 y'all! Now, whatever shall we be talking about on this podcast??
"Obedience is not easy, but it is always worth it." Super excited to finally be launching Beyond The Dance Floor!
