A podcast about the "how" in overcoming anxiety so that you can do and think about the things that really matter + some magical pop culture insights.
King, Icon, Legend Anthony makes his dramatic return. We talk about daydreaming (is it a friend or foe?), our high school crushes (though Anthony is very happily married to my friend Anna, who is also an angel on Earth), what we've been up to since we last hung out virtually, and much MUCH more. Whilst musing alone, I discuss a dream I had where I was a soccer player and what that means for me. Can dreams serve us? I also discuss my hot takes when it comes to Ladies of London (LOL) and whether or not I belong on the show. Who are the Alex McCord, Teddi Mellencamp, and Kyle Richards of LOL? Listen, and find out. During this monologue, I also puzzled about where the game of golf originated. I was incorrect in assuming it is an American sport and thus, felt compelled to provide a short history of golf. Did you know some of its roots date back to the Song Dynasty in China? Also, Anthony loves golf, so this ties nicely back to our friendship. May he not curse me when he reads these shownotes.[]Opr(k)a(t)h's Favorite Things:*Listen: folklore by Taylor Swift Too Many Clothes and Nothing To Wear (podcast)*Read: Intuitive Eating (4th Edition) by Evelyn Tribole (MS, RDN, CEDRD-S) & Elyse Resch (MS, RDN, CEDRD-S, FAND)*Watch: Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga[]Reach out on Instagram @kat_not_kathyAlbum art and intro song created by: @kat_not_kathyOriginal outro scores by: Justin Rafanan“Wow Bethenny wow” and “Queen/Icon/Legend” colloquialism credit goes to King/Icon/Legend Danny PellegrinoSupplemental music from: Epidemic Sound (“Eye of the Newscaster” by Out to the World and “Like Heaven” by oomiee)
Black Lives Matter.I want justice for all of the oppressed. I want to stand by my Black friends, colleagues and fellow human beings. And I am open to continually learning and becoming better. I want to be better and fight for justice. Let's talk to our friends and family and learn from one another. Let's come together. In this episode, I also (briefly?) share my feelings about Real Housewives of Beverly Hills (who else loves Garcelle? More to come of my love for her in the future) and RHONY. Again, though, it's brief-ish. My thoughts about the ladies are never ending. Abundance mindset over here when it comes to the Real Housewives.[] Opr(k)a(t)h's Favorite Things: *Listen:Winter Song by Sara Bareilles, Ingrid Michaelson Toxic Positivity (podcast) created by Lillian Lalo*Read: Let's read about history and expand our minds.*Watch: Selling Sunset on Netflix[]Reach out on Instagram @kat_not_kathyAlbum art and intro song created by: @kat_not_kathyOriginal intro and outro scores by: Justin Rafanan“Queen/Icon/Legend”, "Who among us?!", and "Justice for [Insert person/place/thing here]" colloquialism credits goes to King/Icon/Legend Danny PellegrinoSupplemental music from: Epidemic Sound (“Eye of the Newscaster” by Out to the World and “Like Heaven” by oomiee)
In this episode, I sit down with one of my brethren, Anthony (@raholland71). He is my friend and the husband of my dear friend, Anna (nope, it doesn't get any cuter than that). After slaying the dragon of technology, we enjoy a candid conversation about ADHD and anxiety, relationships (in and out of quarantine), the origins of my friendship with his wife (story involves a mutual love of Lord of the Rings), how I will always be older than him, what the purpose of my podcast should be, and more.[]Opr(k)a(t)h's Favorite Things:*Listen:Julianna Calm Down by Dixie Chicks*Read: The Next Right Thing by Emily Freeman*Watch: Sweet Magnolias on Netflix [] Reach out on Instagram @kat_not_kathyAlbum art and intro song created by: @kat_not_kathyOriginal intro and outro scores by: Justin Rafanan
In this episode, I sit down with MY DAD, a true renaissance man. He is a civil engineer, a thespian, an animal lover, a yard artist (he can beautify any yard), a rancher, a husband, a friend, and a dad. His laugh is also contagious. I dare you not to smile when he laughs. What can't he do? I'm not exactly sure, to be honest. He shares so many nuggets of wisdom in this conversation and is plain FUN to talk with. He talks about his childhood, overcoming obstacles, paying his way through school, his approach towards career, his passion for theater, advice for my generation, whose acting chops he appreciates in Hollywood, and more. It's my pleasure to share him with you![]Opr(k)a(t)h's Favorite Things:*Listen: Home to You by Sigrid*Read: Let It Out: A Journey Through Journaling by Katie Dalebout*Watch: Cold Case [] Reach out on Instagram @kat_not_kathyAlbum art and intro song created by: @kat_not_kathyOriginal intro and outro scores by: Justin Rafanan
This is a solo episode where I broadcast from “Closet Studios” and chat about a string of anxious musings as well as possible solutions and coping mechanisms for said musings. Topics include but are not limited to: quarantine cozy home bubbles and post quarantine life anxiety; not talking about what's really wrong in therapy; “harassing” friends into coming onto future episodes of the show; making decisions; not being a Rachel Hollis fan; and of course, “Oprah's Book Club,” correctly known as “Oprah's Favorite Things/Noms Noms.”[]Opr(k)a(t)h's Favorite Things:*Listen: “Monica & Jess Love Boys” Podcast Series 2018 Queen/Icon/Legend version of “Too Little, Too Late” by JoJo*Read: Still Anti-Diet by Christy Harrison, MPH RD*Watch: Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist JoJo's mini documentary []“Queen/Icon/Legend” and “Mariah Carey wishes/could never” colloquialism credit: King/Icon/Legend Danny PellegrinoReach out on Instagram @kat_not_kathyAlbum art and intro song created by: @kat_not_kathyOriginal intro and outro scores by: Justin Rafanan
In this episode, I sit down with “Queen, Icon, Legend” (credit: Danny Pellegrino), Amber Forrest, a THREE time band member, digital marketing maven, dog mom, pop culture enthusiast and “cool girl” that makes everyone in her life feel like a million bucks. She is an introvert who loves alone time. In our conversation, we touch on what we are learning about ourselves and our favorite and least favorite (cue comparison) coping skills during the COVID-19 pandemic, how we both prefer a few days' notice prior to a hang (virtual or not) with friends, our mutual obsession with The Jinx (Thank you for your HBO account, Amber), compliment circles, and much MORE! Broadcasting from Quarantine 2020, this is Coping Skills, a podcast where we talk about the HOW in overcoming anxiety (and mental health issues of all kinds), run-of-the-mill human imperfection and doubt, and imposter syndrome in order to enact positive routines and achieve the kinds of things that Tim Ferris and Jordan Harbinger teach us about. AKA: I want to know how people scale life's emotional and sometimes physiological mountains to think about and do what matters. Second AKA: I want to talk to people how they get out of their heads and, as Auntie Mame says, LIVE, LIVE, LIVE!This week, you get to know a little bit about me, your host! I'll share three of my least and most favorite coping skills. But there's LOTS more where that came from. Courtesy of yours truly, I also recap the first episode of Season 12 of RHONY (Real Housewives of New York for all you heathens out there) and mention Summer House (team JULES!).
