This week is not an interview, instead it's two clips from the second show I co-host with Serena Wolf, called Spiraling. It's our fifth season and this season is a little bit in the "messy middle," which I'll explain in the first clip from episode two. In it Serena and I talk about how stress and being “in process” affect anxiety, feeling stagnant, worrying about being behind, and how perspective is the ultimate reframe. It's a toast to your next existential crisis…Then I play a clip from an unreleased episode where we discuss how we've been learning that taking breaks actually improves our productivity, while also touching on the surprising difficulty of committing to rest. Instead of an interview today is a mashup of two episodes of Spiraling, the podcast I co-host with Serena Wolf about mental health. We started in 2019 where I'd walk to her apartment once a week and we'd talk and eventually started recording our conversations around anxiety. It's been 4 years and now we live on opposite coasts, but we still record our conversations. The first half is from the middle of the current season, where we discuss navigating different timelines and expectations both from ourselves and from society. I picked this episode because I got messages from people saying it was comforting to hear where I am with being a single person navigating a freelance career so, even though it makes me cringe a little, I'm sharing it here too. The format of Spiraling is that Serena and I both share our “spirals” for the week, try to help each other talk through them, then discuss a topic: the one you're about to hear is on comparison, money, the decision to have kids, and aging. All of this sounds real heavy but we're mostly laughing and we always end with a segment called "high, higher, highest" where we share three highs of the week. The second half of this mashup is our goofy reintroduction episode where we each share favorite books, drinks, songs and more. Show notes:- To hear the full episodes of Spiraling these excerpts came from, listen to the first episode of Season 4 here, the fourth episode here, and the full archive here- Favorite products mentioned:Sea Clear probioticKatie's infusion container - Books mentioned:Katie's rec: The Book of Laughter and ForgettingSerena's Recs: The Idea of You and An Absolutely Remarkable Thing- Other codes to use to support the show:Ozma code: Katie15

HELLO! Welcome back to episode two of season deux with SERENA WOLF. I am a big fan of Serena and all of her many talents, some including her incredible recipes in her books Dude Diet and Dude Diet Dinnertime (linked below), her blog Domesticate-Me and all of the fun things you can find there, her Trader Joe's hacks and her LOVE of cheese and a damn good pizza. But I mainly love her honesty she puts into her journey with anxiety, her humor she brings to every recipe ("just the tip" is her favorite way to give you a pointer), and her overall tongue-and-cheek personality that makes her a big role model of mine for her authenticity. The Dude Diet cookbooks are NOT just for dudes. They're your every day favorite comfort dishes, with a healthy twist. They're also HILARIOUS to read and I highly recommend. She's one of my favorite influencers on Instagram, so for her to come onto my podcast was an honor. I hope you thoroughly enjoy this episode and this amazing human! The 2020 Bloom and Grow Radio Listener Survey is live!- Please take 5 minutes to take this survey and be a part of the future of Bloom and Grow Radio and Media! I did this survey 2 years ago and it was INSTRUMENTAL in planning episode topics and community resources. We had 1000 people complete the survey last time, so my goal for this survey is 3000 planty listeners! I can't wait to hear from you! At this point in the growing season, I'm sure we all have some beautifully bushy herb plants... and maybe no ideas of what to make with them. Today's episode is focused on getting these homegrown herbs into our bellies! (If you want help learning how to grow herbs, check out Episode 22: Windowsill Herb Gardening). I’ve connected with some brilliant female chefs who share their favorite herb inspired recipes! Each chef chose an herb, they share why they love it in recipes so much and then educates us on how to cook their favorite dish inspired by their herb!  The first chunk of this episode is three powerhouse professional chefs who guide us through a LOT of helpful cooking and herb pairing info with mouth watering recipes. Then stay tuned to the end, where Billy shares his famous pesto recipe and my Italian Mom, Mama Failla, shares two sauces you can make with a bounty from the garden.  Cooking food that I’ve grown myself has been one of the most rewarding parts of my plant parenthood journey, I hope this episodes not only gets you growing but gets you cooking too! Make sure to report back to me and these chefs on IG about what you make! If you are playing “all out” in your job search right now, you want to make sure you are using every possible resource to land an awesome role. Most people know about the common resources: job aggregation sites like Indeed or LinkedIn, company websites, perhaps some niche job boards for specific industries.  One of the resources available that not everyone utilizes is developing relationships with recruiters. Recruiters, also known as headhunters, are people who help individuals find great jobs in exchange for being paid a “finders fee” by the company. In a lot of ways, recruiters can be a fabulous resource for you in your search, as long as you know exactly what you're looking for and you present like a great candidate for those roles. (They get paid when they place people, so they have a strong incentive to get you hired!) On The Career Clarity Show podcast, headhunter Serena Wolf tells you exactly how. This is an in-between-isode, where I talk to food writers, Instagrammers and generally cool people about their favorite makers and food things of the moment.  Serena Wolf didn't set out to create a diet fit for the modern man. In fact, she was just writing on her pink blog about her life in Paris, going to culinary school and throwing dinner parties with her roommate. Then, she moved back stateside and shacked up with her now-fiancé, Logan. Turns out, Logan was a typical dude. He ate totally satisfying but completely unhealthy food. Thinking she wanted him around for awhile, Serena decided to put her culinary chops to the test and set out to create Logan's favorite gut busters...just a smidgen healthier by using whole foods and no unpronounceable ingredients. Logan loved the food. Serena loved the food. The internet peoples loved the food. And so, The Dude Diet was born. Released just last week, the cookbook is a guide to eating clean(ish) for people who like to eat dirty. On this show, I get the skinny on the cookbook creation process, her fave recipes for newbies and the makers she's crushing on right now.
