STAYradio Episode #287 features guest Dj Mixx from Chicago IL.
In this episode of Poducer, we sit down with Chicago creatives Greg Corner — bassist, DJ, promoter, and co-founder of the legendary Darkwave Disco parties. From playing bass with Kill Hannah to booking breakout artists at JBTV, Greg has lived through multiple eras of Chicago music and helped shape the city's underground into a global influence. He shares the journey from sneaking into raves and punk shows to sharing stages with icons, why the “bloghouse” years created a blueprint for today's DJ culture, and what it really takes to build a scene. We dive into his philosophy on curation, taste, and trust, plus the challenges of breaking artists in a city that often celebrates its own only after they've left. Greg also gives his perspective on the future: how AI could flood dance music, why bands may be poised for a comeback, and why real fans — not algorithms — still decide which art lasts.
Lane McCray of La Bouche joins Kelly Alexander to share how the hit dance duo of himself and Melanie Thornton came to be back in the 90's. Lane also shares some rarely heard before stories about how their amazingly successful song “Be My Lover” was created and the meaning behind it. He also shares what it was like to lose Melanie after she passed away in a plane crash and why he had to step away from music for several years to regroup before coming back to continue her legacy through La Bouche. Lane talks about his musical influences, why the 90's is truly its own genre of music and why he would team up with Jennifer Hudson and Kelly Rowland on a remake of “Be My Lover.” If you've ever wanted to know what the ride was like for La Bouche during the 90's and what is happening with their music & performances today, this interview will answers those questions and much more. Enjoy the conversation and thank you for listening!

Step into the quantum zone with Superposition — a 100-minute sonic trip through progressive house, progressive techno, and melodic techno. This isn't just a mix, it's a journey across parallel dimensions of rhythm and sound, where hypnotic grooves collide with cosmic atmospheres. From underground anthems by Dave Seaman, Hernan Cattaneo, Christian Smith, and Olivier Giacomotto to exclusive Allai edits and collabs with Mark Mimmo, Superposition is crafted to keep you suspended between dream and reality — where every kick, synth, and breakdown vibrates at multiple frequencies at once. ⚡ Expect deep energy, rolling basslines, and cinematic textures that build and dissolve like waves of light, leading to a finale that tears open space itself with Allai's own edit of Glass Animals – Tear in Space. Whether you're tuning in on your commute, in the club, or locked in at 3AM headphones-on, this mix is designed to expand your mind and move your body. As always, the tracklisting is below: 1) Allai & Mark Mimmo - Sleepwalkers Groove (Allai's Don't Wake Me Dub) 2) Dave Seaman & Thomas Gandey - Heavyweight (Cortona Remix) 3) John Digweed, Marc Romboy & Nick Muir - Sigani Meomchum 4) Shayan Pasha - Puregressive Life (Agustin Pietrocola remix) 5) Olivier Giacomotto - Bipolar Star (Victor Ruiz Remix) 6) CRBRVS - Insomnia 7) Róisín Murphy - Can't Replicate (Hernan Cattaneo & Mercurio Remix) 8) Goraieb - Endless Symphony (NOIYSE PROJECT Remix) 9) Christian Smith - Traction (Paride Saraceni Remix) 10) K Loveski - Dope Groove (Original Mix) 11) Luciano Capomassi - Behind You (Juan Ibanez Remix) 12) Agustin Pietrocola - Enter the Void (Rockka Remix) 13) Tantum & Hyunji.A - Keep My Letters (Simon Vuarambon Remix) 14) Glass Animals - Tear in Space (Allai's Tear in Jakwob's Edit Select)

Back in Houston today to talk with Michael Casiano and Andrew Rubio, who make up the dance music band of darkEntity. Their story - college students' planning to compose music and maybe do some music scoring - turned out to change a little - ok A LOT - to being club DJ's and going the EDM (Electronic Dance Music) route! Listen in as we talk about their music, how they started, how being a DJ in a club is not anything like being a DJ at a radio station (right?!) plus hear about their new single 'Rewind' (showcasing the vocals of Camille Layne) and more. It's cinematic baby! Come join us.About the Spotlight Conversations podcast:Tune in as I invite friends inside my cozy linoleum free recording studio to talk about all things media - radio, television, music, film, voiceovers, audiobooks, publishing - if guests are in the spotlight, we're talkin'! Refreshingly unscripted and unusually entertaining, listen in as each guest gets real about their careers in the entertainment biz, from where they started to how it's going. Settle into my swanky studio where drinks are on ice and the conversation starters are music + media - always a deal breaker for the rock and roll homemaker! Listen to Donna every night starting at 9 on Houston Radio Platinum, along with a special program she hosts every Tuesday and Thursday night at 10 called 'Late Night Music Stories'.
