Ever had a client try to pay you in exposure??? Clients can be very difficult. They can overwork you, rush you, they can be abusive, they can be indecisive. I know, I've been there time and time again, but there is a way to handle them to get what you want and give them what they want. In this episode of the Creative Vibe Podcast, we will talk about strategies to manage your animation, film or video production clients. Not managing your clients can lead to creative burnout. In this episode, I explain why it is so difficult to get on Netflix. I received this information from representatives from Netflix who have been a part of professional industry webinars, producers on Stage32, Director interviews as well as attempting myself. I also talk about strategies for improving your chances of getting on Netflix and exploring alternative streaming platform options. like KweliTV and distributors like Film Hub which are great platforms for black independent film and just independent film in general respectively. Netflix may be the holy grail but it is not the end all be all of success. You define your own success.

Someone asked how do I keep up with work now that I have a newborn son. I decided to wait until he was 8 months old to do this Podcast because I wanted to ensure I got a good feel for how much it disrupts my workflow. In this podcast you hear me talk about the effects it initially had and how I attempt to manage it. P.S. It a'int easy.
Abeeku & the maroons showcased it's short film back in 2017 and we did a crowdfund for it in 2018. It won 5 awards in 3 festivals in 2018 and it is screening at different festivals in 2019. What we really want to know is what is next for the episodes. What is next for the story? When are we going to see more. Hopefully I can answer that questions in this podcast.
In an article on Loop Jamaica dated March 23, 2019 titled Creatives should build partnerships for success - Dr Leachim Semaj, the respected Dr. Makes claims such as "The failure rate for small business is phenomenal. Artistic people are some of the worst business people because their brains are not wired that way. When artistic people say 2+2, they get 50, so that's them now trying to be a business person. It is like a fish trying to climb a try." While he makes great points in the article the above statement high offended many creatives for how extreme it was. I wanted to give me opinion on it.
Following up from Episode 7's "Self Doubt" episode I thought I would talk about fearing failure.
Self doubt, we all face it from time to time. Am I good enough? Can I finish on time? I'm not cut out for this? Maybe this is not my thing? People tell me I am awesome but I don't feel like it. If you have ever said any of these or anything close then you know what I am talking about. Well, let's talk about it here on the NivekPro Creative Motivation.
This is a dual podcast. Marlon "Novacaine" Walker invited myself and the lovely Trician McTavit on his podcast "My Opinion". We answered a viewers question on pursuing your dreams. We touch a little bit on Buju on his release. LAST but not least we touch a bit on the struggles of an actor in Jamaica and being type cast based on looks. A topic I plan to explore further with Marlon in the future.
I had less than 6 months to direct the animation for a short called "Agwe" and a limited budget and crew. Here is how it all went down.
Do you work a 9 - 5 and wondering when is it time to move on or how do you move on and do what you really want to do. In this podcast I weigh in with my perspective.
When you are a young creative, very often we are discouraged from living and enjoying our passion. This is especially true in a third world country where the society and economy revere doctors, lawyers, engineers and bankers. Not realizing that creativity is responsible for the clothes they spend thousands on, the cars they pay tens of thousands for or even the house they pay hundreds of thousands and millions for. With that said, it is hard to get noticed when just starting out. I will tell you what worked for me. Hopefully it can help you or someone else further their journey toward their goals.
Creative Burn Out. What is it, how do you handle it, how do you avoid it for a productive and healthy lifestyle as a creative.
