In this episode, Kamini Wood explores the phenomenon of the inner critic, that voice of self-doubt and judgment that often becomes loudest just before a significant achievement. She explains that this is a common psychological occurrence, as the inner critic's primary, albeit misguided, function is to protect us from perceived emotional threats. Drawing on research from Dr. Valerie Young, Kamini notes that 70% of successful individuals experience this inner criticism, particularly during major career or personal milestones. The episode offers several actionable tools to manage this self-criticism, including cognitive reframing to challenge negative thoughts, mindful awareness to create space between the thought and the self, and cultivating self-compassion. Other strategies discussed are exposure and progressive action to build confidence through small steps, and journaling to externalize and challenge critical thoughts. Kamini concludes by encouraging listeners to see the loud inner critic not as a sign of inadequacy, but as an indicator that they are on the verge of significant progress.Discover more powerful tips and guidance here: https://www.kaminiwood.com/blog/Learn more about my coaching services: https://www.kaminiwood.com/services/Follow me for more empowering inspiration and guidance:https://www.instagram.com/itsauthenticme/https://www.facebook.com/itsauthenticme/https://www.pinterest.com/itsauthenticme/

Does anxiety make you feel like there is something wrong with you? It can feel uncomfortable, overpowering, something to manage or medicate away. We've been taught to see it as a flaw, a weakness, something broken that needs fixing. But treating anxiety as an adversary might be exactly what's making it worse.   In this episode, I'm exploring a radically different approach to anxiety—one that sees it not as something wrong with you, but as a sophisticated signal system trying to help. I share how anxiety functions like a check engine light or cybersecurity system, alerting you to threats to your physical, emotional, relational, or financial well-being. Through practical examples and a simple outside-inside approach, you'll discover how to decode what your anxiety is actually signaling.   Get full show notes, transcript, and more information here: https://habitsonpurpose.com/184

My guest this week is Jennifer Fidder, a social psychologist, NLP practitioner, and transformational hypnotist who helps high-achievers move from awareness to sustainable change.Together, we discuss the hidden logic of the subconscious mind and why the fears, perfectionism, and self-sabotage we experience aren't personal failings—they're outdated protective strategies. Jennifer offers a powerful reframe of impostor syndrome, not as a flaw to fix, but as a signal that we're leveling up and stretching into new territory. We also dive into how hypnosis can help rewire our thinking and create space for more confident action — from applying for a promotion to simply taking the next bold step. You cannot base who you are and how you think of yourself on what anybody else, other than who's at this table and knows you thinks." - Michelle ObamaMichelle Obama arrived at Princeton carrying the weight of everyone who'd told her she didn't belong there. The guidance counselor who said she wasn't Princeton material. The voices questioning whether affirmative action, not merit, got her through those gates. But something shifted when she sat in those classrooms and looked around - she saw legacy kids, athletes, students who made her wonder "how'd you get here?" The realization hit her like lightning: if she could succeed at one of the world's top schools, then everything they'd told her about not belonging was a lie. The curtain had been pulled back on elitism, and she finally saw the scam for what it was - people wanting her to believe she didn't belong when she absolutely did. That experience at Princeton became her armor decades later when she faced the same doubts as First Lady. The questions about her patriotism, her education, whether she and Barack were "capable of representing our country" - it was the same playbook, just a bigger stage. But this time, she knew the truth her parents had taught her at their kitchen table: you can't base your worth on what anyone thinks except those who truly know you. She learned to filter everything - to let her communications team tell her only what she objectively needed to know, never reading the comment sections, treating both the extreme praise and vicious criticism with the same distance. Because when you trust your own experience over everyone else's opinion, you become unstoppable.Sign up for the Greatness newsletter: http://www.greatness.com/newsletter

When we resist the present moment because it doesn't match our expectations, we create distance from our happiness. We tell stories about how things should be or fear what the future might hold, and in doing so, we miss the value and possibility in what's actually here. When we accept what is and remember that uncertainty is a space of unlimited potential, we become more present, open, and available. This not only helps us get the most out of the moment, it is also a powerful recipe for creating a better future. Affirmation: I accept this moment as it is, and I trust that uncertainty holds the potential for something beautiful. I release the stories that create distance from my happiness and stay open to all that life has to offer. For so long, I believed that the only way to create a successful, fulfilling life was by pushing harder, doing more, and holding it all together—until I realized that real transformation begins the moment I stop gripping and start trusting. In this episode, I'm sharing the deeper truth about why effort alone isn't the answer—and how your Inner Critic may be keeping you stuck in fear, doubt, and striving. Together, we'll explore how to shift from force to flow, from scarcity to abundance, and from control to alignment using the MIND Method™. If you're craving more ease, clarity, and freedom—not just in what you do, but in who you're becoming—this is a conversation you don't want to miss. ✨ Tune in and begin to remember the version of you who already holds the key.   Your weekly reflection questions: What part of me is still gripping for control, and what would it feel like to finally let go? Where in my life am I chasing worth instead of embodying it? Who am I becoming when I choose alignment over striving?

Tanis Jorge opens up about a fascinating paradox in his entrepreneurial journey. After 25+ years of building successful businesses with his high school best friend and co-founder - including multiple successful exits - he found himself questioning his own abilities when he went solo for the first time. Ironically, his new venture is The Cofounder's Hub, a business focused on partnership strategies, yet he's building it alone. Jorge candidly admits he's caught between self-doubt and belief, wondering if his previous success was due to the partnership dynamic rather than his individual capabilities. He's refreshingly honest about being "in the middle of the ride" - not completely doubting himself, but not at 100% confidence either. It's a raw look at how even seasoned entrepreneurs face imposter syndrome when stepping outside their comfort zone.Watch Full Podcast- http://bit.ly/4f7g6D3

Do you feel like acknowledging your struggles will make them worse, or that it means you're weak or indulgent? Many of us have been taught to push through challenges, minimize what we're feeling, and judge ourselves for reacting in normal, human ways. But this mindset keeps us from fully understanding why we're struggling in the first place.   In this episode, I explore why validation is one of the most powerful tools for lasting change. Validation is simply the act of recognizing what's real, legitimate, and understandable about our experience. It's about acknowledging what is true in the moment without judgment. When we validate our emotions instead of dismissing them, we create the clarity, confidence, creativity, and inner strength needed to make meaningful shifts.   Get full show notes, transcript, and more information here: https://habitsonpurpose.com/183

There's a certain heaviness that comes with always second-guessing yourself, especially when the people around you make that doubt feel justified. It's not always obvious at first—sometimes it looks like staying quiet, putting others first, or brushing off your own needs. Over time, that pattern starts to feel normal, like maybe you really are the problem. But deep down, there's often a quiet part of you that knows it's not about who you are, but what you've been made to believe. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b82fGz7ZRZ8 Julie Adcock is a licensed counselor and author of Unbreakable Confidence, helping people overcome self-doubt and embrace their inner strength. With over 30 years of experience, she blends therapy with spiritual insight to guide personal growth. Today, she talks about how fear, boundaries, and self-worth shape our relationships and choices. She shares tools for building confidence and turning past challenges into lessons. Her core message: believe in your value and live with bold self-respect. Stay tuned! Quotes: “Find that relationship with God. If you don't know how, talk to someone who does and find the help you need. You don't have to live this way. Life is short. We're only given one life, and you're capable of so much if you have that confidence.” “People fear taking action and making changes, especially when it comes to setting boundaries for what they will and won't accept. Setting boundaries is hard because people often don't want to respect them, and they also resist change.” “Every relationship is a negotiation. You know how you feel—you don't necessarily know how the other person feels.” Resources: Julie Adcock | Unbreakable Confidence Follow Julie Adcock on Facebook Connect with Julie Adcock on LinkedIn

We'll explore what it really means to step out of your Inner Critic's identity—the one built on perfection, control, and people-pleasing—and into the version of you who's wise, whole, and wildly free. ✨ If you've been feeling restless, like you're outgrowing the life you once worked so hard to build—this conversation is your invitation to stop performing and start returning to your truth. Listen now and begin the next chapter of your life rooted in power, presence, and your Authentic Self.   Your weekly reflection questions: What version of me have I been performing—and what truth have I been hiding underneath that role? Where in my life am I still letting my Inner Critic make the decisions—and what would shift if I chose from my Authentic Self instead? If I stopped waiting for permission, recognition, or certainty… what bold step would I take next?

Have you ever tried to “think your way” into feeling better, only to feel stuck in the same patterns? It's easy to fall into the belief that changing our thoughts will automatically change our emotions and habits. But what if the solution isn't about forcing yourself to think better thoughts? What if it's about understanding emotions in a deeper, more compassionate way?   In this episode, I revisit the ideas I first shared on an early episode of the podcast about how to feel better. While I once believed that changing our thoughts was the key to lasting change, I now realize it's only part of the equation. By shifting from trying to manage your feelings to understanding and relating to them, you can create the lasting changes you've been seeking.   Get full show notes, transcript, and more information here: https://habitsonpurpose.com/182

In today's episode of Ten Minutes to Less Suffering, I explore the difference between constantly trying to fix ourselves and learning to fully inhabit who we already are. When we stop searching for solutions outside ourselves and begin to listen inwardly, we return to a place of clarity, presence, and strength. Affirmation: I don't chase wholeness. I remember it. Even in heartbreak, in silence, in longing—Wholeness was never gone. I am not a problem to solve. I am not waiting to be rescued. Even when I ache, I am not less. Even when I stumble, I am not lost. I begin here. As I am. Breathing. Listening. Living. Healing is not becoming someone new. It is the soft, honest return to who I've always been. I can spend my life trying to fix myself… Or I can finally choose to be myself. One is endless effort. The other is freedom.  I want to be free. Here I am. Not fixing. Just being. And Maybe that… is enough. If you found this podcast enjoyable, kindly consider subscribing and leaving a rating or review.
