There is a lot of talk about DSA candidates, as if left of crazy is something new. There is not. All Democrats have really done is create a label for the most visible faction of their party. They call them DSA. They call them democratic socialists. They call them progressives. They call them the activist wing. But the ideas did not suddenly arrive with the label. The question is not whether DSA is different from Democrats. The question is how different DSA is from Democrats. For years, Democratic politicians have defended or embraced positions involving abolishing ICE, defunding or radically restructuring police departments, dramatically increasing taxes, expanding government income guarantees, decriminalization, lax enforcement, open-border policies and an ever-expanding welfare state. You ask one question, and suddenly you discover the man has never actually thought about the subject. He has merely encountered vocabulary. And folks, that brings me to the modern Left. Because one of the great misconceptions of our time is that Leftists are stupid. They're not necessarily stupid. Some of them are extraordinarily intelligent. I know people on the Left who are brilliant scientists, engineers, doctors, mathematicians, researchers. They can explain molecular biology to you while you're still trying to remember what a mitochondria does. But then you ask them about politics. And suddenly the intellectual horsepower disappears. It's like watching a Ferrari pull up to a gas station and discover the driver has no idea what gasoline is. How does that happen? Because intelligence in one discipline does not automatically transfer to every other discipline. You can be a brilliant physicist and have the political instincts of a Golden Retriever chasing a ceiling fan. And I think a major reason for this is academia. Because academia doesn't just teach people facts. It teaches them frameworks. It teaches them what questions are respectable, what conclusions are enlightened, what opinions are sophisticated, and which ideas are beneath consideration. There are certain things you learn as a kid that you don't realize are propaganda until you're old enough to have your BS detector calibrated. I grew up believing America was the good guy. Not "generally the good guy." I mean, if America did something, there was probably a pretty good reason. Government wasn't perfect, but surely there were certain things the United States government simply would not do. They wouldn't experiment on citizens. They wouldn't manipulate an entire population. They wouldn't manufacture narratives. They wouldn't use the media to shape public opinion. They certainly wouldn't lie to you and then tell you the lie was necessary for your own protection. Then you grow up. You read history. And eventually you have that wonderful moment where you realize: "Wait a minute. Everybody's been lying to everybody." It's a tremendous educational experience. It's also why I'm skeptical when somebody tells me, "There's nothing to see here." Because historically, "nothing to see here" has been one of the most successful marketing campaigns ever created. And that's what I want to talk about today. Propaganda. Because we've been taught to think propaganda is some obvious Soviet poster with a heroic worker staring into the distance while holding a hammer the size of a Buick. By the time Javier Milei won in November 2023, the accumulated damage was extraordinary: Inflation had moved into triple-digit territory.  The government was running large fiscal deficits.  Foreign-exchange reserves were depleted.  Argentina had multiple exchange rates and extensive currency controls.  The central bank's balance sheet had deteriorated badly.  Importers were accumulating commercial debt because dollars weren't available.  Real wages had collapsed.  Poverty had climbed above 45%.  Argentina was already deeply entangled with the IMF.  The IMF's description of the situation inherited by Milei is unusually blunt: "dangerously acute" imbalances and distortions, resulting from inconsistent and expansionary policies.  That's the environment in which Milei's message of burn down the economic establishment resonated. He wasn't elected because Argentines suddenly became libertarian philosophers. They had lived through enough economic dysfunction that the political equivalent of throwing a brick through the window started looking attractive. What Milei actually did Milei came in December 2023 and immediately attacked the core problem: government spending and monetary disorder. His government imposed severe fiscal discipline, reduced subsidies and spending, deregulated portions of the economy, loosened trade restrictions and foreign-exchange controls, and pursued monetary stabilization. Last week gave us a little preview of the 2026 midterms, and I think the political class is going to get this wrong. They'll look at individual races. They'll talk about turnout. They'll talk about fundraising. They'll talk about "momentum." They'll pull out some internal poll showing Democrats within striking distance somewhere and tell you the midterms are going to be a referendum on Donald Trump. Fine. But I want to ask a different question: What did Democratic voters actually do when they had the opportunity to choose their candidates? Because that is where things get interesting. Start with Florida. Alexander Vindman lost the Democratic Senate primary to Angie Nixon. Now, this isn't a Republican victory over Vindman. Republicans didn't defeat him. Democrats did. And that's considerably more interesting. Vindman was practically manufactured in a Washington laboratory as the anti-Trump candidate. He was the decorated Army officer who became a central figure in Trump's first impeachment. He had national recognition. He had establishment credibility. He had money. A lot of money. Vindman raised more than $16 million. Nixon raised less than $1 million. And Democratic voters chose Nixon by roughly 56 percent to 44 percent. (The Guardian) Think about what that means. Democrats were handed a candidate who was tailor-made to appeal to the anti-Trump constituency they have spent years cultivating. And they rejected him. Can Democrats do anything right? I mean, seriously. Look at their offspring. Because every time I think the Democratic Party has finally reached the bottom of the barrel, somebody hands them a shovel. And they start digging. Now, I want to be careful here because I don't know every fact in every case I'm about to discuss. But I know what I'm seeing. I know what's flooding my news feed. And I know that some of these stories are so bizarre that if you wrote them into a screenplay, the producer would send them back and say, "Kevin, that's not believable." Take Karmelo Anthony. This is the young man convicted of murdering Austin Metcalf, a 17-year-old athlete, after a confrontation at a high school track meet. Anthony's lawyers wanted a new trial. And one of the issues surrounding the case was the racial makeup of the jury. No Black jurors were selected, and prosecutors struck three prospective Black jurors. (KERA News) So naturally, this became another racial grievance story. Because apparently we're supposed to believe that America is still living in 1860. The Democratic Party keeps reaching backward for its explanation of America. Slavery. Jim Crow. Segregation.   They can't seem to get past 1963 long enough to notice that it's 2026. And here's the part that makes this story even more interesting. The judge just denied Anthony's request for a new trial. Denied it. And during the proceedings, additional evidence came out that jurors had never heard, including an allegation that Anthony had previously sent a text fantasizing about stabbing someone. But I will tell you this: When your argument starts with, "There weren't enough Black people on the jury," and then the conversation moves to evidence about whether the defendant had previously fantasized about stabbing somebody... So you almost want more rhinos to get inside and see how things work with a real presidency versus some of these institutional guys, these establishment people. I don't, no disrespect, but they just don't, they don't hack, they don't know how to fight. Glad you guys are with me. They had 14 informants on Biden corruption. They ran a secret disinformation campaign. They'll probably be firing those guys. Here's another one.  Here's a stat, something that should make you feel good. Food stamp enrollment cratered 5.3 million under President Trump. 5.3 million less people getting snapped. So figuring they get, I don't know what they get. What do they get? A few $100 a month? They got 1000 bucks a month for food, which would be a lot, right?  That's 5.3 billion. So do the math, cut it in half, whatever it may be. If they get $500 a month from SNAP, I don't know. I just know this. I'd like to have a SNAP card. Kevin, wouldn't you be embarrassed? No, why would I be embarrassed? I'd be getting my money back. I've got thousands of dollars. in the government that I gave back. I want my money back. Weekend Recap 08-22-26 Another bad weekend for leftism. Oh my goodness. Unbelievable. Well, we talk about it, Unified Solutions America, every single day and twice on Sundays. And now we have Democrats talking about this thing called Woke One. like Woke version 1.0, and I love it.  I absolutely, it sounds like a software release. Apparently, Woke 1 was the beta version, but they found out, you ready? There were bugs, bugs in the code, bugs that even AI couldn't fix. They had a system crash. The police department stopped functioning. People discovered that men and women were somehow both the same and different depending upon which sentence you were constructing. Universities became ideological pressure cookers. Americans were instructed to evaluate virtually everything through the lens of race and gender and identity and all other crazy things that the left could think of.  Welcome people. Let's talk about something that would have sounded absolutely insane in America twenty years ago. The President of the United States is having to rebuild the machinery of mental-health treatment because we decided, as a society, that putting seriously disturbed people on the streets was somehow enlightened. President Trump's executive order is aimed at restoring civil commitment and expanding the ability of states and local governments to provide institutional treatment for people with serious mental illness who are dangerous, unable to care for themselves, or living on the streets. The order explicitly calls for more flexible civil-commitment standards and institutional and step-down treatment. And here's my question: How crazy did America have to get before somebody finally decided we needed to bring back the institutions? Because you look around this country and you see people who don't merely disagree with you. They seem to have lost their grip on reality. You have people who celebrate political violence. People who cheer when conservatives are attacked. People who can look at the killing of innocent children and somehow find a way to justify it. People who destroy property, threaten their political opponents, intimidate people who hold the wrong opinions, and then demand that the rest of us pretend this is perfectly normal political behavior. And we're supposed to believe the problem is everybody else. We've watched the normalization of violence. We've watched criminality become a political virtue. We've watched people who should know better turn destruction into activism and hatred into an identity. And that's the great irony. The damage isn't limited to the people who get physically killed. Let's start today with something that used to be considered a rather unremarkable idea: A country gets to decide who comes into its country. Crazy, right? Apparently, that concept has become controversial in the West. Europe is wrestling with illegal immigration, and Poland has taken an increasingly hard line on its border with Belarus. Polish soldiers and border guards have fired shots during illegal crossings, including warning shots, and a Polish soldier who fired toward migrants was acquitted earlier this year. Poland is also pushing for tougher consequences for people who enter illegally. (Notes From Poland) Now, let's put this into terms that even the folks at MSNBC ought to understand. Imagine you come home tonight, open your front door, and discover somebody you don't know sitting in your living room. You didn't invite him. You didn't give him a key. He didn't knock. Yet somehow, when we're talking about a national border, we're told that enforcing the boundary is cruel, racist, xenophobic, or whatever word happens to be trending on the Left that week. We've been talking about frauds. And the more I think about it, the more I see a tremendous opportunity for Republicans. Somebody needs to create the Fraud Channel. They took ideas that might have started with something relatively ordinary, like treating people fairly, and pushed them into increasingly bizarre territory. They turned identity into politics. They turned politics into morality. They turned disagreement into evidence of moral deficiency. And eventually they reached the point where ordinary Americans began looking at the Democratic Party and saying, essentially: What the hell happened to you people? Donald Trump just keeps winning. And the conflict with Iran is no different. I have met with a few people who fancy themselves war strategists, and they love to explain to me how war is supposed to be fought. There are rules, traditions, doctrines, and apparently a handbook that Trump never bothered to read. They tell me Trump violates the established conventions of warfare. And I remind them that the British had a pretty impressive understanding of conventional warfare when they marched into the American Revolution. They had the greatest military in the world, trained soldiers, overwhelming resources, and a rather high opinion of themselves. It didn't work out particularly well for them. In fact, their tactics helped produce the very nation where I was born. One colonel put it to me rather bluntly: “Kevin, nobody stops and starts a war!” To which I responded: “Trump does.” And that gets to something I said on my radio show: Trump's war with Iran didn't begin when the first missiles flew. The war began long before that. Trump went to war with Iran's economy. He went after the money. He went after the oil. He went after the ships carrying the oil, the companies buying it, the banks moving the money, the shadow networks hiding it, and eventually the machinery Iran used to turn that money into missiles, drones and mayhem. And unlike the traditional battlefield, there was no need to fire a shot to start that war. That economic war never stopped. So before we start arguing about whether Trump fights wars the way wars have traditionally been fought, perhaps we should take a look at what he actually did to Iran's economy, how relentlessly he squeezed it, and how the economic battlefield was prepared long before the missiles ever started flying. Former NBA and NFL players are apparently looking at the WNBA and saying, "You know what? I think I've found my next career." And I love it. There is a story coming out of Britain about a person described as a woman who stabbed four people. Except the person wasn't a woman. It was a biological male who identified as a man. And I know we're supposed to pretend this is complicated. We're supposed to carefully navigate the language. "Well, the person was assigned..." No. Stop. At some point, a civilization has to be able to describe what happened without needing a legal team and a thesaurus. A man stabbed four people. There. Everybody survived. The English language survived. Nobody's pronouns were injured in the production of that sentence. And this is part of what has become so bizarre about the transgender debate. I've watched enough of these stories over the years to notice a pattern that a lot of people don't seem particularly interested in noticing. When somebody from the trans community commits an act of violence, the identity component suddenly becomes fascinatingly complicated. Maybe it's irrelevant. Maybe it's unfair to mention. Maybe we're stigmatizing an entire community. Maybe we should focus on the individual. But if somebody commits an act of violence while identifying with some other group, suddenly the group identity is extremely important. Funny how that works. Apparently we have entered a new phase of political journalism where the same people who spent months telling us Donald Trump was recklessly bombing Iran are now very concerned that Donald Trump doesn't have enough missiles to keep bombing Iran. Think about that for a minute. First, Trump is too aggressive. Then Trump is losing. Then Iran is winning. Then Iran is making demands. Then Iran is supposedly in control of the Strait of Hormuz. I have to hand it to the WNBA. Their insanity over that one letter has created a firestorm. Former NBA and NFL players are apparently looking at the WNBA and saying, "You know what? For generations, nations around the world admired America, even as they quietly resented her. They wanted our prosperity, our innovation, our culture, and our influence. I'm reading this headline from Mediaite: “GOP Senate Candidate Ends Press Conference After Dodging Questions About Son-In-Law's White Nationalist Posts.” Now stop right there. Notice the construction of that headline. Not “Republican candidate promotes white nationalism.” Not “Republican candidate makes antisemitic comments.” No. It's the son-in-law. The man married to his daughter. Now, let me say something very clearly. If somebody in my family said something hateful, I would absolutely have a conversation with them. I would tell them they're wrong. I would tell them why they're wrong. But am I responsible for every thought that comes out of every adult relative's mouth? Apparently, according to the modern Left, I am. This is where politics has become a bizarre family reunion where everybody is held responsible for the weird uncle sitting in the corner eating potato salad and talking about aliens. And here's the thing: if the standard is guilt by association, then nobody survives. Nobody. Not Democrats. Not Republicans. Nobody. But that's not really the standard, is it? The standard is selective outrage. The media doesn't ask, “What happened?” They ask, “How can we connect this person to something embarrassing?” And that's dangerous because eventually you destroy the idea that people are individuals.
