The Bible speaks to all areas of life, law enforcement included.
Random review show to talk about the different realms of government and how they interact with one another.
Not really a bonus...it turned out to be a full length episode, but whatever. We talk about coffee (shocker) and what I think, at this point, every man should have and know how to use for self/family/home defense. Random life advise from a 22 year old, what could go wrong?
In this, the final episode of our series on the founding documents of our nation; we take a look at the Bill of Rights, and several other Amendments to the Constitution.
In the first part of the series, we walked through the declaration of independence, and the next episode is going to walk through the bill of rights. But for today, we worked through the Constitution article by article to get a basic understanding of just how our government is designed to function.
This is the first installment of a miniseries going through the founding documents of our country. We talk about them all the time, but when was the last time you sat down and read through the Declaration of Independence? How about the Constitution? I know you are aware of the 1st, 2nd and 4th amendments, but what about the 8th or the 9th? How do they effect you? Listen to this series to get an overview and remember just how amazing our founding documents are.
No fancy catch lines or anything, this is just the second part our Esther study.
Want to hear me continually mispronounce biblical names?? I got you! Also we talk about Esther and Mordecai's fantastic example of interposition done properly. Enjoy!
Let's step back from law enforcement specifically and talk about how one goes about changing culture. Hint, it doesn't start at the Federal level.
This is an interesting topic: Are our drug laws biblical? Do they meet the biblical criteria of a crime? Lets talk!
It has officially been over one year since the first Deputies of Christ episode was released. I only hope that there are many more and that the quality continues to improve. Oh, also in this episode I talk about a militarized police force and several contradicting examples of why we need controlled law enforcement that is well trained.
Wrapping up the Christmas series with an episode about, well...Christ. Seems appropriate. We talk about how Christ is involved in every area of government and how it all relates back to His sacrifice on the cross. Oh, and Merry Christmas!!
Yeah, so I talk a lot in this one...but hopefully y'all like it. From babbling about Christmas to diving into the differences between grace and mercy to which ones are applied to the saved and the unsaved. also, coffee.
It's that time of the year again! Lets talk about Christmas, this is the first of three Christmas Episodes that I am going to produce before that glorious holiday. Enjoy!
I'm dropping a pretty big news announcement, you probably don't want to miss it.
An odd show, I'll give ya that. But the topic of the different mindsets of cops has been on my mind for a while, so I thought I'd talk about it.
In this long overdue episode we start with talking about the foundations of all law and types of government and then end with talking about the juvenile justice system and my thoughts on it.
Here is the recap of my first week at the Sheriff's department. All good stuff and I cant wait to start academy next week!!
Even though the word "Sheriff" Conveys a specific governmental office, the roles of this office differ greatly depending on what part of the country you is in. Let's jump into some of the main differences.
The announcement that I have wanted to give for a while is here! Also, I have a conversation with myself about the pros and cons of unarmed law enforcement. (One of those shows where I wish that I had a co-host)
Ever curious about what exactly the Magna Carta was and why it has anything to do with the office of the sheriff? Well, wonder no more!
What are the first three things that come to your mind when you hear the word "Sheriff"? Sheriff Andy Taylor of Mayberry? Or perhaps some old western movie where the only thing longer than the outlaw's six-shooter is his mustache. What about the Sheriff of Nottingham from the age old Robin Hood story? Were there really sheriffs that long ago? Lets dig into some history and find out why all of these connect. But first, I've got some hiring news!
I've been waiting to crack this subject open for a while and the time has finally arrived! I definitely don't exhaust all that could be said on this topic, but this is a good starting point.
Apologies+hiring update+random off topic rants+an actual serious conversation comparing deferent LE agencies. This ought to be a fun one!
After I give a brief post interview update, we pickup where we left off last time talking about first; God's setup for the justice system, and then blessings and curses for those who obey or disobey.
In this episode I topically walk through several chapters in Deuteronomy and pull out some scriptural principles for limited government. In next weeks episode I will continue into pulling out principles of what a biblical justice system looks like.
First off, I apologize for the crackly voice, I'm finishing getting over a cold from last week. But, other than that...lets walk through Genesis and talk about examples of biblical interposition.
Honestly this show mainly consists of two slightly related rabbit-trails. It's interesting and still informative, but a little more scattered than a normal episode. Also (as the title might imply) this is the second part of my last show, so make sure that you have listened to part 1 first. Enjoy!
Enjoy this extra, unedited, and unscripted episode regarding my upcoming physical and written test date.
"I thought the punishment usually came after the crime?" -Steve Rogers, From Marvel's "Captain America: the Winter Soldier"
My first round of advice to anyone interested in Law enforcement, followed by my views on Law Enforcement bonding with their communities.
Picking up where I left off last episode talking about interposition and the Doctrine of the Lesser Magistrate. First though, I have to give a hiring update...
Lets talk more about why I think the Sheriff's department is best for me, as well as the doctrine of the lesser magistrate, specifically about the different spheres of government that God has imbedded in creation.
Yep, Omaha has a mask mandate again...also I am sure you haven't heard anything about Romans 13 in the past few years. And yes, I am referring to the book of Daniel in the Bible, not some friend of mine. Curious about how they all connect? Well, I'm not gonna tell ya' here, just listen to it...
In this episode I start back at when I first became interested in LE and walk through step by step of all that I have done to prepare for it. I then talk about the steps that are in front of me, including a step by step guide to the hiring process; from submitting an application to (Lord willing) my first day as a road deputy.
In the first real episode of DOC there are two items on the agenda: First, I break down my theme verse and apply it to law enforcement. And second, we begin to open the door into the podcast's theme of what is biblical law enforcement.
What is DOC? Who is that ridiculous sounding host? Are those birds chirping in the background? Listen to find out...
