This episode was inspired by our tall tales episode. We each take a crack a writing another host's fictional bio. This was supposed to be a Christmas Episode but was delayed.
"Hear, O heavens, and listen, O earth, for the LORD speaks: Sons have I raised and reared, but they have rebelled against me. An ox knows its owner, and an ass,* its master's manger; But Israel does not know, my people has not understood.” Isaiah 1:2-3 Submit a Podcast Listener Question HERE! CGSUSA Parent Pages HERE "The events of Christ's infancy appear rather difficult due to the misuse that is generally made of them by often telling them (with many diminutives!) as if they were beautiful fables. The fact is that the infancy narratives, especially in Luke, are a type of “theological tapestry” - if it is possible to call them so- whereby the evangelist stresses the grandeur of the mystery he is announcing through a variety of techniques.” The Religious Potential of the Child, pg. 76 Marty O'Bryan joins us on the podcast to ponder how deep the scriptures during this season of Christmas are and the beautiful theological tapestry that weaves them all together throughout the whole Bible are. The Religious Potential of the Child is not a “how-to” book, complete with lesson plans and material ideas. Instead it offers a glimpse into the religious life of the atrium, a specially prepared place for children to live out their silent request: “Help me come closer to God by myself.” Here we can see the child's spiritual capabilities and perhaps even find in our own souls the child long burdened with religious information. This book serves as a companion to the second volume, The Religious Potential of the Child 6 to 12 Years Old. The desire to have this essential text available in audio has been a long-held goal for many. The work of many hands has combined to bring this release to life as an audiobook. It's Christmas day and right now it is time to discuss a modern Christmas classic with you. It's the time for Rare Exports. What's even better is today I am joined by one of my favourite ever recording artists. Ever. When I say ever... I mean... EVER. It's only Nina Nastasia. As I live and breathe. No words.
Cooper and Nolan are hoping for a miracle this week, when they cover SURVIVING CHRISTMAS! Holiday cheer is in short supply in this early 2000s comedy, which came at a low point in star Ben Affleck's career. But maybe - just maybe - an implausible romantic subplot, jokes about masturbation, and a cameo appearance from Udo Kier can help this thing be seen in a new light. Sound crazy? That might be the alcohol talking, as the guys continue their annual tradition of sampling MANY beers, this time from the Oranje Son Brewing advent case. Make sure there's room at the table either way; this very special CHRISTMAS EPISODE is definitely one you'll want to bring home for the holidays!
For our final episode of the four weeks of Christmas we get nostalgic talking about manga, urge you to go to your local libraries and sign up for a card, and then share our cozy warm Christmas Traditions (after a heavy chat about the cost of a college education in the United States). We hope you enjoyed our barrage of Christmas Episodes and we'll see you in the new year!

This week's episode of Double the Tea is a special Christmas Episode! The twins share all their Christmas traditions from their childhood and how Megan is implementing some of them with her daughter! Thomas and Frank are back, celebrating the holidays with a dive into It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. This chaotic Christmas special has everything you'd expect from the gang—traumatizing childhood flashbacks, ill-advised interventions, and some of the most iconic scenes in the show's history. Join us as we explore how the gang's twisted holiday spirit creates a hilariously unforgettable episode. Timestamps and Topics: 00:00 Introduction with Thomas and Frank 00:24 Why revisit It's Always Sunny? 02:02 Frank's selfish Christmas “gifts” and the gang's interventions 03:05 Mac and Charlie's hilariously dark Christmas memories 05:18 The infamous couch scene and its behind-the-scenes trivia 07:42 Charlie's unraveling at the mall 10:28 Frank's twisted take on A Christmas Carol 15:19 Claymation chaos and Frank's ultimate “lesson” 20:01 Eugene's snowblower mayhem and the gang's “happy” ending 28:20 The show's legacy as a comedy uniting fans across the spectrum Key Takeaways: It's Always Sunny expertly flips holiday traditions on their heads for maximum comedic effect. Behind-the-scenes details, like the inclusion of David Huddleston (Santa from Santa Claus: The Movie), add depth to the humor. Themes of found family and dysfunctional loyalty are at the heart of the episode. This special marked a significant transition for the show, being the last episode in low definition. Memorable Quotes: “Frank's lesson isn't to be a better person; it's that the gang will kill him if he doesn't change.” – Thomas “Throwing rocks at trains—it's the tradition that stuck.” – Frank “They think they're finding the Christmas spirit, but it's always in the most messed-up way possible.” – Frank Call to Action: Loved this episode? Old mate Ryan came for a chat this week. We didn't get time to record anything in America so he joined us online to discuss how he's gotten to where he is now. Coach, marketing guru at KT Foiling, some mysterious role at Foildrive we never got to the bottom of and Foiling Magazines Friday Pump newsletter author..... such a large amount of roles to digest. Ryan recently came back from Hawaii after the Foilers of Oahu event and we delve into his views on surf foil style, progression within our disciplines and even how motivation keeps us learning - sounds a bit progression podcasty, right? Well - he's got some great thoughts so it was worth discussing! Ryan also pulls out some gold from his actual foiling diary from when he was learning, which definitely led us down a rabbit hole. Christmas Episode coming next..... If you like what we're doing, we're aiming to use any donations to our buymeacoffee account to fund getting to the 2025 AWSI as well as a couple of other ideas that are forming in our head. We may buy the odd beer out of it too - but we're hoping to use the bulk to churn out as much content as we can for everyone. Check the page out here - https://buymeacoffee.com/gfpodcast

CGSUSA Parent Pages HERE Advent for Families Mindy and Claudia help us live into the seasons of Advent and Christmas by exploring what Sofia Cavalletti taught us about Sacred History, most especially Incarnation. Mindy Longwell has been a catechist, director and formation leader for over 25 years. Mindy has worked in many different settings, including giving formation in the holy land. If asked what her favorite part of being involved in CGS is she would tell you, it is being able to hear the sweet voice of the good shepherd through the child. Claudia Margarita Schmitt lived in many different countries throughout her life. She has discovered over time that her roots are first in her Roman Catholic faith and also in the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. Everywhere she goes she recognizes the same language being used to discover the mystery of God. As an international formation leader for Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. She constantly has this experience of finding her roots. She has been a catechist for 33 years and a formation leader for 32. She lived for 8 years in Rome studying and working with Gianna Gobbi and Sofia Cavalletti. She describes this time as precious and that they taught her many things but first to be humble. AUDIOBOOK: Audiobook – Now Available on Audible CGSUSA is excited to offer you the audio version of The Religious Potential of the Child – 3rd Edition by Sofia Cavalletti, read by Rebekah Rojcewicz!
