I'm Dan and I am, for want of a better word, a “creative”. This is my podcast about creativity, faith, and my general thoughts.
Talking about jobs, woodwork, synthwave and the usual stuff

I'm talking about some of the recent thoughts I have had about Christianity and comedy. I try and fail to prove that I have the comedy chops to legitimately be talking about comedy. There is a lot of thinking out loud as this was fresh in my head and was processing in the moment, plus I was in a weird mood which gave the episode an unusual energy. Anyway, enjoy!
We are living in anxiety ridden times and with a new year upon us we hope for a time of change, although this brings it's own pressures and with the world as it is maybe this isn't a helpful thing to be doing. So it is a new year and to kick it off I am embracing my anxiety, I am talking about how we experience anxiety, the small insignificant things that set us on edge, I talk through the time I was able to map out an anxiety inducing incident and talk about living with anxiety and learning to overcome it. The writing worship didn't work out. Sorry but will do another time!
A review of 2020, just because I think I should
A mainly musical episode, a wanted to create a space for meditation, stillness, prayer or just for escape.
A waffle about Christian music, about some of the good things and some of the rubbish things.
The last of the introductory burbles, setting up who I am. I talk about the faith of my childhood, the changes that occurred in my teens and the questioning of my faith as a student and where I am at now.
HAPPY CHRISTMAS/ DECEMBER! At this festive time I wanted to share my ambient Christmas album, as promised in the last episode. I recorded it last year and was something I wanted to do for a while. It was done using a dying laptop and old software and it's not perfect but it is minimal and slow and soundscapy so I like it and hope that you will too and will help you relax and stop over the Christmas break. The track listing is as follows - 1. O Holy Night 06:17 2. Away In A Manger 09:38 3. Silent Night 04:41 4. Ding Dong Merrily On High 03:24 5. Hark! The Herald Angels Sing 09:45 6. O Come All Ye Faithful 07:13 7. O Holy Night Reprise 04:49 8. Hark! (Vocoder version) 03:50 9. Mistletoe and Wine remix 05:32 - An Ambient, Shoegaze, dreampop, minimalist inspired album featuring my favourite Christmas
I'm back for a chat and a burble about creativity and why we do the creative things that we do. Is it for fame and fortune? Is it for recognition and respect? Is it so you can get rich and buy a Rickenbacker guitar? I also burble about creativity being a ministry and whether I should quit my job and take up writing full time.
I wanted to share my poetry project, Inertia, with you. It combines music and poetry to tell the story of a man who lives a boring life which he hopes to escape. I wrote this when I was at university and recorded it when I was living alone and working, very much living the life of the main character, not as lonely or depressed though. I am really proud of this and still think it holds up nearly 15 years later. Hope you enjoy it!
Who am I? Where am I from? Why am I who I am?... I wanted to tell my story as it isn't something I tell often but it explains who I am and probably explains what this podcast is about.
Welcome to the relaunched, renamed podcast. Here is a bit about what it's all about!
Not going well but Tim Vine features one this part and I or Brad lazily drag up material from other drafts
Things start to get sexy and a bit sloppy and also philosophical and a bit weird.
Bonus part as I go to pick up the shopping and read some book
Craig becomes embroiled in a potential crime, Karl starts to settle and meets a new friend. Matt finds love unexpectedly and Brad ploughs on with the novel
Part 1 of my live reading of A Novel Idea. We meet some of the main players a struggling writer, a disillusioned comedian, a man who crashes a car and an artistic mentor who takes photos of dog shit. Don't forget that I doing this in part to raise money for Samaritans. Look them up and donate!
Hello! My name is Dan and 4 years ago I wrote a novel for National Novel Writing Month and raise money for the UK charity Samaritans. To celebrate the 4 year anniversary I have decided to record myself reading the book and commenting on it and releasing it as an audio podcast and a video, via YouTube. By the way, the novel is about someone trying to write a novel about someone trying to write a novel about someone trying to write a novel etc. Should be fun and hopefully we'll have a few laughs along the way!
