In this week's episode, Detlef takes us deep into the mythological and emotional landscape behind The Nile's Bittersweet Song — WAW's recent Number One on The Cork Playlist. What begins with a single removed image in the video edit grows into a full exploration of creativity, fatalism, and the elemental spirit of Hapi, the ancient Nile god.Together with AI Co-Host Sophia, Detlef navigates the tension between myth and memory, grief and rhythm, and the fine art of letting a story reveal its true form.Through Kamau, the fictional boy standing at the river that took his brother, the episode weaves subtle socio-cultural currents into a timeless narrative. The episode ends with gratitude, a behind-the-scenes invitation into Detlef's process, and a brand-new track by Los Inorgánicos.A reflective, intimate journey between art, myth, and the river that never speaks — but always moves.WEBSITE LINKS WAW Official YouTube Channelhttps://www.youtube.com/@WAWBand"The Niles Bittersweet Song" WAW BandcampSilent NightIn a world shadowed by conflict and unrest, we, Dirk Schlömer & Detlef Schlich, felt compelled to reinterpret 'Silent Night' to reflect the complexities and contradictions of modern life.https://studiomuskau.bandcamp.com/track/silent-nightWild Atlantic WayThis results from a trip to West Cork, Ireland, where the beautiful Coastal "Wild Atlantic Way" runs along the whole west coast!https://studiomuskau.bandcamp.com/track/wild-atlantic-wayYOU TUBE*Silent Night Reimagined* A Multilayered Avant-Garde Journey by WAW aka Dirk Schlömer & Detlef Schlichhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAbytLSfgCwDetlef SchlichInstagramDetlef Schlich ArTEEtude I love West Cork Artists FacebookDetlef Schlich I love West Cork Artists Group ArTEEtudeYouTube Channelsvisual PodcastArTEEtudeCute Alien TV official WebsiteArTEEtude Detlef Schlich Det Design Tribal Loop Download here for free Detlef Schlich´s Essay about the Cause and Effect of Shamanism, Art and Digital Culturehttps://www.researchgate.net/publication/303749640_Shamanism_Art_and_Digital_Culture_Cause_and_EffectSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/arteetude-a-podcast-with-artists-by-detlef-schlich/donations

The Power Of God's Whisper Podcast

Before the manger, before Bethlehem, before “Silent Night,” there was eternity — and in that eternity, the Word already existed. John 1:1 declares: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”The Incarnation isn't a sentimental Christmas story; it's a strategic rescue operation. The Creator stepped into His own creation, not as a King demanding tribute, but as a servant offering redemption. Think about that. The God who sculpted galaxies took on skin, lungs, a heartbeat. He entered our world through the frailty of a newborn, crying in a manger He created. Why? Because love demanded proximity. You can't redeem what you refuse to touch. Humanity's problem was separation — sin built the wall, and only divinity wrapped in humanity could tear it down. Jesus didn't come as a tourist; He came as a resident, moving into our neighborhood to change it from the inside out.Philippians 2 tells us that Jesus “emptied Himself, taking the form of a servant.” The One who commanded angels learned obedience through suffering. He traded Heaven's throne for a carpenter's bench. He who knew no limits submitted to time and pain. And because He became flesh, He knows you. He's felt hunger, exhaustion, loneliness, betrayal. He wept. He rejoiced. He was misunderstood. Every ache in your heart has an echo in His story. That's what makes the Incarnation miraculous — not just that God became man, but that He understands man. He gets your struggle, your fear, your frustration. He doesn't look down from Heaven; He looks out from beside you. When life feels cold and distant, remember: God once walked under the same sun, breathed the same air, and carried a cross up a real hill. He knows what it means to be human — and He did it perfectly so that you could finally be free. This isn't abstract theology; it's divine intimacy. The Word became flesh — so the Word could dwell within you.

After saying farewell to Vladi Nowakowski in last week's episode, Detlef Schlich stays in the 1980s — walking again through the creative streets of Cologne-Nippes, where art, chaos, and hope lived side by side.He recalls the Schuhfabrik on Merheimerstraße 202, once an industrial space turned into studios and lofts by an architects' consortium including Wolfgang Felder, where a whole artistic microcosm emerged around the Fabrik-Café.It was there, amid the smell of coffee, sawdust, and rain, that Detlef performed his song “Wir stehen im Regen” for the first time — a song born from loss, solitude, and the rhythm of survival.Later produced by Dieter Kirchenbauer, the song became part of his journey from broken beginnings to creative rebirth. This episode is a portrait of Nippes as more than a place — a rehearsal for everything that came after.“Everyone in Nippes lived inside a rehearsal — we just didn't know what for.”Detlef Schlich is a rock musician, podcaster, visual artist, filmmaker, ritual designer, and media archaeologist based in West Cork. He is recognised for his seminal work, including a scholarly examination of the intersections between shamanism, art, and digital culture, and his acclaimed video installation, Transodin's Tragedy. He primarily works in performance, photography, painting, sound, installations, and film. In his work, he reflects on the human condition and uses the digital shaman's methodology as an alter ego to create artwork. His media archaeology is a conceptual and practical exercise in uncovering the unique aesthetic, cultural, and political aspects of media in culture.WEBSITE LINKS WAW Official YouTube Channelhttps://www.youtube.com/@WAWBand"The Niles Bittersweet Song" WAW BandcampSilent NightIn a world shadowed by conflict and unrest, we, Dirk Schlömer & Detlef Schlich, felt compelled to reinterpret 'Silent Night' to reflect the complexities and contradictions of modern life.https://studiomuskau.bandcamp.com/track/silent-nightWild Atlantic WayThis results from a trip to West Cork, Ireland, where the beautiful Coastal "Wild Atlantic Way" runs along the whole west coast!https://studiomuskau.bandcamp.com/track/wild-atlantic-wayYOU TUBE*Silent Night Reimagined* A Multilayered Avant-Garde Journey by WAW aka Dirk Schlömer & Detlef Schlichhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAbytLSfgCwDetlef SchlichInstagramDetlef Schlich ArTEEtude I love West Cork Artists FacebookDetlef Schlich I love West Cork Artists Group ArTEEtudeYouTube Channelsvisual PodcastArTEEtudeCute Alien TV official WebsiteArTEEtude Detlef Schlich Det Design Tribal Loop Download here for free Detlef Schlich´s Essay about the Cause and Effect of Shamanism, Art and Digital Culturehttps://www.researchgate.net/publication/303749640_Shamanism_Art_and_Digital_Culture_Cause_and_EffectSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/arteetude-a-podcast-with-artists-by-detlef-schlich/donations

What's up, dudes? They're a legendary metal band whose songs were played all the time on MTV. Yes, we're talking Stryper! I've got the incredible Michael Sweet with me to talk about their 1984 singles “Reason for the Season” and “Winter Wonderland!” We also dive into their new album The Greatest Gift of All available this year in November. The boys lay down an eighth note riff in “Reason for the Season,” and modulate for the chorus. The song is full of their dual lead guitar, harmonized in 3rds for texture and interest. After coming to a rocked out climax, it ends with harmonics and acoustic and clean tone electrics. The tight vocal pads give an ethereal feeling contrasting with the previous heavy straightforward rock vibe.Released in December ‘84, the single had a Stryperized version of the classic “Winter Wonderland” as a B-side. This time the band gave the song a swing eighth-triplet riff. After some introductory dialogue, they launch into it, and segue nicely into a triplet dual lead solo. Uniquely, a turnaround transitions to an Elvis inspired bluesy half time rendition of the chorus. And now, this year the band has a new Christmas album! Stryper The Greatest Gift of All is full of classics and original tunes. From a lush and calming “Silent Night” to an uptempo “Joy to the World,” it has it all. The album even ends with re-recordings of their two ‘80s singles, updating them sonically and ending with a bang!Guitar? Check. Soaring vocals? Yep. Full on Stryper vibes? Definitely! With all the Silent Night, Deadly Night films complete (or are they?), Kerry, Collin and their frequent guest at this time of year, Patick Ripoll, take a look at another slasher film from the same era, the less controversial, but just as violent Don't Open Till Christmas, directed by (kind-of) and starring Edward Purdom. There's not a whole lot that makes sense here, but that's what makes it so fun to dissect. Why is one character hanging up random strands of garland in random places in her apartment? Does the killer only want to kill male Santa Clauses in the area? What exactly is the killer's motivation? What prompted re-shoots and re-edits of the final product? All this, plus three films from the Book that more-or-less (mostly less) tie in with the topic.  Book films covered: "The War Game" (1966) "The Bride of Frankenstein" (1935) "Targets" (1968)

What's up, dudes? It was a special based on a seminal album of the ‘80s holiday seasons! Yes, Ken Kessler from Sounds of Christmas and Scott Leopold from Holly Jolly X'masu are with me to talk “A Very Special Christmas Party." Arnold Schwarzenegger, Danny DeVito, and more celebrate with Olympians.Unfortunately, the beginning is cut off, so it's unclear how the special started. Arnold and some Olympians discuss his singing, and  Barbara Mandrell recounts playing soccer, talking to a 50m freestyle swimming gold medalist. Next, DeVito and Arnold work out with some athletes. Randy Travis then tells us he thinks of food at Christmastide and sings "Winter Wonderland."Immediately following that, Susan Saint James tells us of Mark Arrowood kindness, and Mike Tyson talks basketball. Scott Hamilton and an Olympian ice skate together, and we see the entire group in church for a special reading by JFK, Jr. Finally, at dinner, everyone goes around the table lighting a candle representing their Christmas wish. Oh, and Santa shows up!"Silent Night?" Check. "Santa Claus is Comin' to Town?" Got it. Actual songs from the album? Nope. Not really. So grab your sweater, light a candle, and make wish to this episode on  “A Very Special Christmas Party!"  Sounds of ChristmasFB: @SOCMusicTwitter: @SOCMusicIG: @socmusicHolly Jolly X'masuFB: @HollyJollyXmasuTwitter: @HollyJollyXmasuIG: @hollyjollyxmasuGive us a buzz!

Two days ago, on October 3rd, 2025, our very first single was released: The Niles Bittersweet Song. For us, this piece feels like a journey into the depths of life, telling of the two sides of the Nile: its power to bring new life, but also its relentless force that can cause loss. It is this very tension – between hope and pain, between birth and death – that makes the song bittersweet.Perhaps it is fitting that this release comes so close to the Day of German Unity. Boundaries and shores, division and connection – these are themes that our upcoming album, The Stories of Nil Young, will touch upon again and again. But this first track is devoted entirely to the ancient, universal energy of the Nile.Additionally, in this episode, Detlef reflects with AI co-host Sophia on the release of "The Niles Bittersweet Song," the very first single from WAW (Wild Atlantic Way), his collaboration with Dirk Schlömer. They explore the dual nature of the Nile — giver of life and bringer of loss — and how this theme became the foundation of their upcoming album The Stories of Nil Young. The episode travels between Berlin and West Cork, tracing how geography, myth, and multilayered storytelling weave into music that resists mass production and insists on lived experience. Detlef shares the dream that gave birth to “Nil Young,” connecting cycles of beginnings, endings, and myth, while Sophia frames the release as more than a song: it's the opening of a poetic universe. This is not just a track in the endless stream — it is a statement, a promise, and the beginning of a larger journey.Detlef Schlich is a rock musician, podcaster, visual artist, filmmaker, ritual designer, and media archaeologist based in West Cork. It's Festive Friday, and for this episode we were joined by Alonso to dig into a holiday movie that is absolutely insane.ABOUT CIVIL CHRISTMASDuring the Civil War, a wounded Union soldier falls in love with a Southern woman while taking refuge in her cabin on Christmas Eve.AIR DATE & PLATFORM FOR CIVIL CHRISTMASJuly 2, 2024 | VODCAST & CREW OF CIVIL CHRISTMASSophie Bolen as Aura-LeeKyle Patrick Douglas as DouglasAndrew Dawe-Collins as Grandpa CharlieBRAN'S CIVIL CHRISTMAS SYNOPSISWe're dropped into the Civil War as I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day plays.Cut to this woman in her cabin. She hears a sound outside and thinks it's her grandpa. She runs out and, for some reason, bursts into Hark the Herald Angels Sing. Then she goes back in and sings a song that—honestly—makes it sound like she's in love with her grandpa. I don't know. There's a knock at the door. She grabs her gun and finds a wounded Yankee outside. Even though helping him could get her in trouble, she brings him in and stitches him up. He falls asleep, wakes up, and hears her sing O Holy Night—after which he just casually mumbles that he loves her. They eat and sing Up on the Housetop together, which somehow inspires her to decorate for Christmas. There's something off about this guy, but I can't quite place it. Then he recites A Visit from St. Nicholas and asks her to sing again, so they do The First Noel. That's when he breaks the news: her grandpa isn't coming home. He says they spent hours together by a fire, had a heart-to-heart, grandpa wrote a poem to God…and then died. To cope, she sings Silent Night. Naturally. They have a quick “nuanced” conversation about slavery and then immediately slide into What Child Is This. She says goodnight, and that's when he drops the bomb: he actually killed her grandpa after grandpa shot him in the back. Oh, and by the way, they knew each other as kids and were first loves. He gives her another letter from grandpa, and they cap it all off by singing a slow version of Jingle Bells. He proposes, she says yes, and they celebrate on the porch. Then—plot twist—it turns out they're in one of Krampus' snow globes, and suddenly everything makes sense. Hi—and welcome back to Horror Movie Podcast, where we're Dead Serious About Horror Movies. Here in Episode 228, emeritus host Jay of the Dead welcomes Pastor Matt, Jigsaw Jackson, and emeritus host Dr. Walking Dead—with more alumni like Dr. Shock and Gillman Joel contributing later. During this historic show, Pastor Matt introduces the new HMP 3.0 roster, officially welcoming two new hosts, Horror Movie Fanboy Brian Scott and Horror Fan Ryan Bratton! Next, the two new hosts share their Top 5 All-Time Favorite Horror Movies and recall their favorite HMP memories. But the bulk of this episode is dedicated to a theme of "Cold, Hard Horror" movies, where your hosts take three (and a half) rounds to recommend more than 50 lesser-discussed snowbound horror films that take place in the midst of a wintry setting. Each of the rounds features reviews and recommendations from the panel of hosts. Then your hosts deliver a lively Speed Round of additional icy horror highlights, just to quickly name-drop a few more worthy titles for you listeners! And as promised, Dr. Shock and Gillman Joel contribute a wacky segment of their own prior to Jay of the Dead's bonus “review for the road” in a concluding Final Cut segment. In addition, during Episode 228, you will hear Jackson's new theme music for HMP by his band, hello softie., a track titled "Sometimes It Rains in April" from the album, With Heavy Eyes and Bated Breath. Finally, as we wrap up this episode, Pastor Matt shares his thoughts on the future direction of HMP 3.0 and teases some exciting, upcoming episodes. Arteetude 296 – WAW Pass the Hat Tour Talk, Part 2. Back on the beach in West Cork, Detlef Schlich and Dirk Schlömer continue their reflection on the WAW Pass the Hat Tour. This time, the story carries us from Felicitas' cliffside guesthouse in Adrigole to Kilcrohane's White House Café.We hear about Hannah — who evolved from spontaneous driver into full-blown tour manager — and how her fearless promotion transformed a night of uncertainty into an unforgettable three-hour set of WAW's original songs and spontaneous covers. From fire juggling and biofluorescent midnight swims to whiskey-fueled sing-alongs, this episode captures the chaotic beauty of grassroots touring.WAW is more than just Wild Atlantic Way: for Dirk, it's the romance of Ireland's coastline; For Detlef, WAW is also a philosophy: art as a ritual pathway connecting people, places, and shared memory.

**Arteetude 295 – Pass the Hat Tour Reflections with WAW**In this sun-drenched beachside episode, Detlef Schlich and Dirk Schlömer unpack the sweat, laughter, and sheer willpower behind the *WAW Pass the Hat Tour 2025*. For Dirk, **WAW** is the *Wild Atlantic Way* — the rugged coastline that stole his heart. For Detlef, **WAW** is more: a philosophy of motion, a creative current that carries songs, stories, and performance rituals across landscapes and generations. From epic bus changes to sleeping on rocks, from storm-threatened gigs to spontaneous midnight jam sessions, this tour proved that music still has the power to connect strangers and inspire resilience at any age. In the grand finale of this trilogy, Detlef and Gregg explore deeper layers of artistic expression—philosophy, absurdity, and the punk soul's enduring melancholy. They muse about aging as an artist, Kafkaesque realities, and the weird joy of staying creatively restless. The episode closes hauntingly with Gregg Turner himself singing: “Franz Kafka.” A song that feels like a literary echo turned acoustic howl.Detlef Schlich is a rock musician, podcaster, visual artist, filmmaker, ritual designer, and media archaeologist based in West Cork. Watch on Philo! - Philo.tv/DTHThe movie kicks off with a slowmo shot of a big ol horse pulling a sleigh. We go into a house and these 2 best friend are talking about where people are going to be sitting at her wedding. That's right - Kathy and police officer Matt are finally getting married! But Kathy's friend, Danielle, is feeling a bit sad. Last Christmas, she was broken up with on Christmas Eve at Church service in between Silent Night and Joy to the World. But she's here and she's gonna make the best of it helping Kathy plan the wedding. In the middle of the their conversation, we see a guy walking his Dalmatian. Danielle decides to go to the coffee shop and orders her fav: a tall caramel machinate sugar free with oat milk, no whip, and has a totally normal, real human conversation with the owner. She goes to enjoy her drink in the park in the freezing cold. She sets her drink down to take a call from her mom and she notices that a dog is drinking her drink. The man apologizes but she doesn't want any part of it.But when she's goes to the coffee shop the next day and orders her sugar free caramel macchiato with oat milk, no whip, he comes right up.  Turns out, he's the guy she's supposed to be meeting with. His name is Trevor but goes by TJ and he is Matt's best friend. They start working together to plan stuff, like cake taste testing, floral arrangements, stuff that the wedding party is in charge of. She invites him over to meet her old school Dad and Dad falls in love with him. And he takes her to the fire department to show her all of the fire stuff. But then he gets a call so has to leave.Turns out, the call is for her mom. She "fell down" while doing the dishes. I guess she was dehydrated. She talks to her mom about how she's not sure about really giving Trevor a chance but mom is like your dad likes him, we can't let this opportunity pass. Everything is good again until she gets a call - the baker who was making cupcakes for the wedding is in labor. So she and Trevor go to the bakery to make 200 cupcakes. And they have a blast until a girl shows up and says she's Trevor's girlfriend. Trevor doesn't correct her. She's real sad. Luckily, there's a random old guy on a bench who gives her some advice. Trevor shows up and explains - he actually never did break up with this girl but he thought they broke up cuz she moved. Which is good enough for her. They go to walk in the freezing cold and kiss.
