Acts 17:25 NIV “…He himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else.” Ephesians 6:11, 14-17 says: “Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. …Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God” (NIV). One way to “put on the full armor of God” is through prayer. Here's an example of how to “take your stand against the devil's schemes” in your life and family through prayer. Today we will meditatively pray to put on “the breastplate of righteousness.” Father in Heaven, your word tells me to submit to you and resist the devil, and he will flee from me (James 4:7), and so I want to do that now in this prayer. I submit my whole self to you, my whole life to you, (my family to you), all my cares to you, and my entire future to you. And I take my stand right now against all the devil's schemes in my life (and family). I take up your “sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” I affirm Jesus's words when resisting the devil's temptation, that I do “not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God” (Mt 4:4). I affirm that your Spirit gives life, and that your words are full of the Spirit and life (Jn 6:63). I affirm that your word is living and active and at work in me (Heb 4:12; 1 Thes 2:13). And that I will overcome the evil one because your word lives in me (1 Jn 2:14). And I pray all these things in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Holy Spirit (Eph 6: 18). Amen. I know that my citizenship right now is in heaven, and that you will raise my body in resurrection and transform me into a body like Christ's glorious, righteous body (1 Cor 6:14, Phil 3:20-21). So I know that my present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in me (Rm 8:18). Therefore, right now I submit my life to the glory and significance and love of the God of the universe. I affirm that you created me and saved me because you have a specific, glorious purpose for me in your universe forever (Eph 1:4-11; Rev 2:17). Amen. Who can you share this podcast with? I put on the truth of all that you are for me in Jesus Christ, who has become for me true wisdom from God, righteousness, holiness, and redemption (1 Cor 1:30). I stand in this truth that sets me free (Jn 8:32) from “the father of lies” (Jn 8:44). Fill my mind and body with the wisdom of your Spirit of Truth (Jn 16:13). Right now I submit to your Spirit's work of leading me into a new and true self according to the image of Christ (Rm 8:29-30) — leading me to an eternal future of glory and beauty and joy and awe. One expression of Holy Listening is contemplative prayer. In this form of prayer, our primary focus is to be still and listen to God. In this episode, Scott talks about how practices like centering prayer and meditation can help us listen more deeply to what theologian and civil rights activist Howard Thurman calls "the sound of the Genuine."

Whether we show up nice and neat or as a big ol' mess, God is 100% present to us! Reflect about how He loves us despite our mess and then join in for another led meditation. This meditation comes from the book An Introduction to the Devout Life by St. Francis de Sales. It prompts you to consider how you were created fully by God and not by your own doing. The world would have gone on without you, but God deemed to create you out of love for this time in particular. In gratitude, we offer our praise and thanks to Him and apologize for when we forget this fact! This amazing book has more wonderful meditations as well as simple, short chapters that can prompt your heart toward God. I receive absolutely nothing if you buy this book, I just truly think it is wonderful! Check it out here: https://a.co/d/fSr2kp5
Today's Prayer Meditation is a Parent's Prayer My children are a reward, a precious gift from you. I have not labored in vain or birthed children for calamity. I am blessed by you and my descendants with me. I refrain my voice from weeping and my eyes from tears, for my work raising my children and praying over them shall be rewarded. If they go astray, they shall come back from the land of the enemy. I have an expectant hope for the future, that my children will come back to a place of peace and safety and well-being. I am confident, Father, that the good work you began in my child, you will carry it on until it is finished. You contend with those who contend with me, and you will save, defend, preserve, and deliver my children. You have made a covenant with me. Your Spirit that is upon me, and your words that you have planted in me, shall not depart out of my mouth or out of the mouth of my children or my children's children from this time forth and forevermore. I believe in your Son, Jesus, and I am saved, me and my household. The promise is unto me and to my children and to all that are afar off, even as many as you shall call. I claim your promise that the children of your servants shall dwell secure and their offspring shall be established before you, Father. I am blessed because I fear and reverence you, Father, and I greatly delight in your commandments. My children will be mighty in the land, and they will be blessed. You poured water on my thirsty land and streams on my dry ground. You poured your Spirit upon my children and your blessing upon my descendants. They shall spring up among the grass like willows by flowing streams. They will say that they are yours, they will call on your name, your name shall be written on their hand. Father, your word says my children shall by taught by you and their peace shall be great. I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth. My children give me peace of mind and make my heart glad. I walk in integrity, and my children are blessed after me. I have strong confidence in you, and my children have refuge. My house shall stand. My steps are ordered by you, and I delight in your way. Though I may fall, I will not stay down, because you uphold me with your hand. I have never seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread. I am merciful and lend to others, and my seed is blessed. You will increase me more and more, me and my children. So be it. Until next time, be blessed and be a blessing. ----- Music from Uppbeat (free for Creators!): https://uppbeat.io/t/ilya-kuznetsov/serenity License code: UBKMUFMPSPCJUGOX ----- Psalm 127:3; Isaiah 65:23; Jeremiah 31:16-17; Philippians 1:6; Isaiah 49:25; Isaiah 59:21; Acts 16:31-33; Acts 2:39; Psalms 102:28; Psalms 112:1-2; Isaiah 44:3-5; Isaiah 54:13; 3 John 1:4; Proverbs 29:17; Proverbs 20:7; Proverbs 14:26; Prov. 12:7; Ps. 37:23-26; Ps. 115:14
Today's Prayer Meditation is on Standing in the Gap You looked for someone to build a wall and stand in the gap for you. When there was no one else to intercede, your own arm brought salvation. Your righteousness upheld us. Just as Moses stood in the gap for the Children of Israel, I stand in the gap for family and friends, for my community and for my country. I pray to you, Father, in the name of Jesus, knowing that the fervent prayer of a righteous person has great power. I make supplications, prayers, intercessions and thanksgiving for all people. I pray for our leaders and those in high positions so that I may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and I know it pleases you, Father. Your greatest desire is that all people be saved and come to the knowledge of your truth. There is one God, and there is one mediator between you and men, the man Christ Jesus. I raise up the foundations for future generations. I am a repairer of the breach, and restorer of streets to dwell in. You have given me the keys of the kingdom of heaven. Whatever I bind on earth is bound in heaven, and whatever I loose on earth is loosed in heaven. So today, I come to you in prayer. I stand in the gap for those in a crisis situation who need someone to stand with them. I pray for those who are living lives in opposition to your word, Father, through lifestyle, pride or rebellion. I pray for my community, for the schools, churches and workplaces where daily battles are waged between good and evil. I pray for those who suffer unjust circumstances and laws and corrupt governments. I pray for those who don't believe in you, or are angry at you, that they might come to know you and your unfailing mercy and love. I pray against cultural and social conditions that are corrupt, evil or destructive. I pray for the weak, the sick, the depressed and the oppressed who cannot pray for themselves. I pray for those going through the stress of a major life crises who need your strength to see them through. I pray that your will experienced here on earth as it is in heaven. When you need someone to stand in the gap, here I am, Father. Send me. So be it. Today's Prayer Meditation is on Stillness I still myself before you, Father. I know that you are God. You are exalted among the nations. You are exalted in the earth. I do not have to fight, Father, for you have already won the battle. All I have to do is to be silent and stand in the victory you have already won. So I stand firm and hold my position, and see your salvation on my behalf. I am not afraid or dismayed, because you are with me. In the stillness and in the quiet, I wait for you, Father. You renew my strength. I mount up with wings like an eagle. I run and do not grow weary. I walk and do not faint. Because you are my shepherd, I will never lack any good thing. You give me peaceful green pastures to lie down in. You lead me beside still waters. You restore my soul. You keep me in perfect peace, because my mind is stayed on you. I trust in you. I have calmed and quieted my soul. I hope in you, Father, from this time forth and forevermore. It is in returning to you and resting in you that I find salvation. It is in quietness and in trust that I find strength. You have given me your peace. Not the peace of the world which comes and goes depending upon circumstances. But an everlasting peace. My heart isn't troubled, and I am not afraid. I rest in your peace. I take heart even in the midst of tribulation, because you have overcome the world. For you alone, my soul waits in silence. From you comes my salvation. You are my rock, my fortress. I shall not be greatly shaken. On you rests my salvation and my glory; you are my mighty rock; my refuge. I trust in you at all times and pour out my heart before you. I am still before you and wait patiently for you. I come before you in your holy temple. I keep silence before you. I was weary and the burdens and cares of this world weighed heavily upon me, but I came to you, and in you I find rest. I cast all my cares on you, Father, because you care for me. So be it. Today's Prayer Meditation is on Grace Father, I approach your throne of grace with confidence. I come before you boldly to receive your mercy and grace to help me in my time of need. You are compassionate and full of grace, slow to anger, and abounding in love. You bless and keep me. You make your face shine upon me. You are gracious to me. You surround me with your presence and give me your peace. Because of your great love for me, and your unfailing mercy, you have made me alive in Christ, even though I was dead in transgressions. It is only by your grace that I have been saved. Sin is no longer my master. I am not under the law, but under grace. Before Jesus, sin reigned in death. But now grace reigns through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ my Lord. You are the God of all grace. You called me to your eternal glory in Christ and you yourself have restored me and made me strong, firm and steadfast. Your grace offers salvation to all people. It has taught me to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live a self-controlled, upright and godly life -- even in this present, ungodly age. You saved me and called me to a holy life—not because of anything I did but because of your own purpose and grace. This grace was provided in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time. I fell short of your glory, but I am justified freely by your grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. I have been saved by grace through faith, it is a gift from you, Father, not by my own works. There is nothing for me to boast about. You long to be gracious to me, so you rise up to show me compassion. You are a God of justice. I am blessed because I wait for you. You are gracious and compassionate. You will not turn your face from me. Your grace is sufficient for me. Your power is made perfect in my weakness. Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task that you have given me—the task of testifying to the good news of your grace. Daily, I will continue to grow in the grace and knowledge of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! I am strong in the grace that is in Him. His grace, and your love, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit are with me always. So be it. Today's Prayer Meditation is on Purpose Father, you have made everything for its own purpose. And there is a time for every purpose. I don't have anything to do with worldly fables. But rather, I discipline myself for the purpose of godliness. I can make my own plans, but your purpose will prevail. You saved me and called me with a holy calling, not according to my works, but according to your own purpose and grace which you have given me in Christ Jesus from all eternity. You have called me for the purpose of sanctification. You are at work in me, both to will and to work for your good pleasure and purpose. You make my joy complete. I align my mind with your Word, I maintain the same love that was in Jesus Christ, I am united in spirit and intent on your purpose for my life. I have obtained an inheritance through Christ Jesus. I was predestined, according to your purpose, and you work all things after the counsel of your will. I am your workmanship, created for good works which you prepared beforehand so that I would walk in them. You declared the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things which have not been done. Your purpose will be established, and you will accomplish all your good pleasure. Father, you can do all things. No purpose of yours can be thwarted. Your word goes forth from your mouth won't return to you empty. It will accomplish what you desire and it will prosper where you send it. I know that you have called me according to your purpose, and even when things go wrong in my life, I know that you will take what the enemy meant for evil, and make something good out of it. So be it. Until next time, be blessed and be a blessing. ----- Music from Uppbeat (free for Creators!): https://uppbeat.io/t/roger-gabalda/yearned-memories License code: TVJUZIAPYNEOFBQD ----- Proverbs 16:4; Ecclesiastes 3:1; Ecclesiastes 8:6; 1 Timothy 4:7; Proverbs 19:21; 2 Timothy 1:9; Ephesians 3:11; 1 Thessalonians 4:7; Philippians 2:13; Philippians 2:2; Ephesians 1:11; Ephesians 2:10; Isaiah 46:10; Job 42:2; Isaiah 55:11; Romans 8:28
Today's Prayer Meditation is on Freedom Where your Spirit is, Father, there is freedom. You have called me to freedom, and I will not turn my freedom into an opportunity to satisfy my flesh, but through love, I will serve others. I am careful to not let my freedom somehow become a stumbling block to the weak. I will act as one who is free, not using my freedom as a covering for evil, but as your bondslave, Father. For you freed me from sin, and I have become a slave of righteousness. Having been freed from sin and enslaved to you, I receive a righteous beneift resulting in sanctification and eternal life. Jesus set me free for freedom, so I will keep standing firm and will not put myself back under the yoke of slavery. I know that I become enslaved to whatever overcomes me. I speak and act as one who is judged by the law of liberty. I look intently at your perfect law, and I live in it. I am not a forgetful hearer, but an effectual doer of your work, and I am blessed in what I do. I know the truth, and the truth has made me free. The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set me free from the law of sin and death. Jesus has made me free, and I am free indeed. Sin is no longer my master. I am not under law, but under grace. I have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but I have received a spirit of adoption as your child, by which I cry out, "Abba Father!" Creation itself will also be set free from its slavery under the curse into the freedom of your glory, Father. Your Spirit is upon me. You have anointed me to preach the good news to the poor. You have sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set free those who are oppressed. So be it. Today's Prayer Meditation is on Faith Father, you strengthen me with your power through your Spirit in my inner being. Christ dwells in my heart through faith and I am rooted and established in love. Faith is the confidence, the assurance for what I hope for. It is the title deed for what I do not yet see in the physical. It is what I live by. I live by faith, not by sight. And I know that without faith it is impossible to please you. Faith is the language you speak. I must come to you in faith, believing that you exist and that you will reward me when I earnestly seek you. I love you, even though I have not seen you with my physical eyes. I believe in you and I am filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for I am receiving the end result of my faith, the salvation of my soul. I believe in you with all my heart, and I am justified. I profess my faith with my mouth, and I am saved. Over and over Jesus told people it was their faith that healed them and made them whole. The same is true for me today. I am born of you. I am an overcomer. And the victory that overcomes the world is my faith. I stand steadfast and on my guard, standing firm in the faith. I am courageous and strong. I have chosen the way of faithfulness; I have set my heart on your laws. In the gospel your righteousness is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from the first to the last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.” So in Christ Jesus I am your child through faith. My faith is living and accompanied by action. I know that faith without works is dead. With faith, I know that nothing is impossible to me. I can tell a mountain to move, and it will move. Faith comes from hearing your word, Father, so I read and study and listen to your word daily. I fix my eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of my faith. So I will fight the good fight of the faith. I take hold of the eternal life to which you called me when I made my good confession. It is by grace I was saved, through faith—it wasn't because of anything I did myself. It is a gift from you, Father, so I cannot boast. I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in your Son, who loved me and gave himself for me. I do not think of myself more highly than I ought, but rather I think of myself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith you have distributed to me. Since I have been justified through faith, I have peace with you through my Lord Jesus Christ. This righteousness is given through faith in him to all who believe. In Christ Jesus the only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love. So I build myself up in my most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit. I keep myself in your love as I wait for the mercy of the Lord Jesus Christ to bring me to eternal life. So be it. Until next time, be blessed and be a blessing. ----- Music from Uppbeat (free for Creators!): https://uppbeat.io/t/jonny-easton/hardest-choice License code: XXOSHJFLIHXUTITV ----- Ephesians 3:16-17; Hebrews 11:1; 2 Corinthians 5:7; Hebrews 11:6; 1 Peter 1:8-9; Romans 10:10; Mark 10:52; 1 John 5:4; 1 Corinthians 16:13; Psalm 119:30; Romans 1:17; Galatians 3:26; James 2:17; Matthew 17:20; Romans 10:17; Hebrews 12:2; 1 Timothy 6:12; Ephesians 2:8-9; Galatians 2:20; Romans 12:3; Romans 5:1; Romans 3:21-22; Galatians 5:6; Jude 1:20-21
Today's Prayer Meditation is on Trust I trust in you, Father, with all my heart and do not lean on my own understanding. I submit all of my ways to you, and you make the path straight before me. I am blessed because I trust in you. My confidence is in you alone. I am like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. I don't fear when trouble comes, because I am like a tree whose leaves are always green. I am not concerned about lack, because my life always bears fruit. Whenever fear tries to come, I simply put my trust in you. I commit everything I do to you, Father, and you establish my plans. When I pass through the waters, you are there with me. When I pass through the rivers, they do not sweep over me. When I walk through the fire, I am not burned, the flames do not set me ablaze. Each morning brings me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. You show me the way I should go. I entrust my life to you. I approach you with confidence, Father, beause I know that if I ask anything according to your will, you hear me. And I know that when you hear me—whatever I ask—you will provide. I dwell in your shelter. I rest in your shadow. You are the Most High, the Almighty. You are my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust. I am not moved by what I see, hear or feel, because I live by faith, not by my senses. Father, you keep my feet steady, and do not allow me to slip. You watch over me and never slumber. I look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store food away in barns, and yet you feed them, Father. How much more than the birds do you love me? I say with confidence, you are my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me? I trust in you and you keep me safe. You meet all my needs according to the reihes of your glory in Christ Jesus. I follow the instructions you have given me in your word, Father, and I prosper. I am blessed because I trust in you. You will never leave me; you will never forsake me. I commit my way to you. I trust in you and you make my righteous reward shine like the dawn, my vindication like the noonday sun. I trust in you and do good; and I dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. I rely on your love for me. How abundant are the good things you have stored up for me. You bestow them on me in the sight of all, because I take refuge in you. In you, whose word I praise—in you I trust and am not afraid. You are good, and a refuge in times of trouble. You care for me and I trust in you. You are my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in you, and you help me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise you. You keep me in perfect peace, Father. My mind is steadfast because I trust in you. I know I can always trust you. You have never forsaken those who seek you. I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation. I will sing your praise, for you have been so good to me. Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, your unfailing love for me will not be shaken nor your covenant of peace be removed. You have compassion on me. I remain confident of this: I will continue to see your goodness in the land of the living. Truly you are my rock and my salvation; you are my fortress, I will not be shaken. So be it.
