September ihr zweites Album "Schönste Trauer" veröffentlicht. Im Zeichen der "Neuen Deutschen Softness" unterwegs, ließen sie sich dafür von "kleinen alltäglichen Ereignissen, zwischenmenschlichen Beziehungen und bewegenden Szenen aus verschiedensten Filmen und Serien" inspirieren – kurz, es geht um: "Ängste, Freude, Trauer, Liebe, Wut und Glück." Dafür ist ihr ausladend-atmosphärischer Sound voller Melancholie und Melodie zwischen Shoegaze, Rock und Pop genau das richtige musikalische Fundament, und funktioniert nicht nur beim Hören der Platte im heimischen Schlafzimmer, sondern wird gewiss auch das Publikum der morgigen Album-Release-Show in der Neuen Zukunft in seinen Bann ziehen und zum wohligen Schwelgen zwischen Sentimentalität und Hoffnung bringen. Es ist das große Jahr des BritPop-Comebacks: Oasis wieder auf Tour, Pulp wieder da und Suede nun auch mit neuem Album. In der internen ewigen BritPop-Erfolgsrangliste belegt die Band um Brett Anderson hinter den beiden anderen genannten und Blur nur den undankbaren vierten Platz. Dabei haben Suede BritPop einst erfunden, wählten einen rohen Gitarrensound und interpretierten den Glam Rock der 70er Jahre auf ihre gritty Art neu, als der Rest der Musikszene Großbritanniens auf Acid oder Shoegaze war. Allerdings: bei allem Hedonismus und „Animal Nitrate“ an einer „Saturday Night“, ein Lad war Brett nie, anders als Liam, Noel und Damon. Dem BritPop komplett abgeschworen haben Suede auf ihren drei ersten Alben nach der Reunion in den Zehnerjahren. Die wirken wie ein Film-Noir-Soundtrack von 5 Elder Statesmen des Brit Rock. Danach entdeckten Suede auf „Autofiction“ den Punk in sich und nun auf „Antidepressants“ Post-Punk. Zu Gast ist wieder Brit-Music-Experte Mike Litt. Das Herz der Clubbing-Legende schlägt auch für britische Gitarrenmusik – und gerade Suede haben sich dort einen festen Platz erspielt, durch unzählige schöne musikalische Momente und Begegnungen mit der Band, von denen Mike uns erzählt. Wie auch Marc Mühlenbrock hörbar angeschlagen mit Disco-Schnupfen, aber voller Tatendrang. Und Brett Anderson kommt natürlich auch zu Wort. Alles in Episode #110Suede.

In June, New York City based indie rock band, Hotline TNT released their third album of what many are calling "American Shoegaze" indie rock, Raspberry Moon (Third Man Records). Natalie Lew, also known as Sea Lemon, released her debut album Diving for a Prize in June 2025 on Luminelle Recordings. Across 12 songs, reverb-heavy guitars wash underneath vocals that allude to made-up stories and unhealthy obsessions. For example, “Stay” draws inspiration from the real-life antics of an elderly security guard at a thrift store while “Rear View” pulls from Lew’s original fiction about a naive baseball player’s failing career. She proudly likens her sound to shoegaze pioneers Cocteau Twins. KEXP’s Roddy Nikpour talks with Sea Lemon about launching her music career in New York and moving back to her hometown of Seattle. She has since opened for American Football in two sold-out shows and collaborated with Northwest music legend Ben Gibbard — all within five years of picking up a guitar for the first time. “I was an insanely big Death Cab fan as a kid,” Lew says in the interview. “Ben reached out to me over Instagram. Somehow, he had found my music outside of realizing the fact that I was in Seattle. Then we played a show together, and we did a song together, ‘Crystals,’ which was the first song that I recorded for my album.
