Whether you grew up in a rough neighborhood jacking cars and selling drugs, or a low-key quiet family with a mother and father that did everything to support you in life, we ALL can hit bottom. On today's episode with Justin he shows us how his early upbringing, from the outside, appeared to have set him up for success and every advantage in life. Alas, that's not always how life goes. Finding himself in a state of depression and a "rut" is something that I think we can all align with. He takes us through some of the tactical advice on how he was able to pull himself out of this mindset and start getting himself set up for success each and every day. Preface: This was an extra special episode. With so much to unpack, you just NEED to listen to all three parts. I will share that when Monica and I were wrapping up our last episode I thought to myself, "I wonder if this episode kickstarts her journey to eventually get on Ed Myletts podcast?". Saying this only to myself and not verbally, to which she then audibly mentioned to me. "I'm excited for this as it's step 1 to eventually getting on a show with Ed and Andy. Coincidence? A few words from Monica about what's in store. Enjoy. "Basically born into poverty, dads side of the family prostitutes and drug addicts who stole everything from my family when my dad passed away of aids when I was six. They had forged everything over ransacked the house and we ended up with nothing as children. My mom ended up marrying my stepdad who raised us and he was very militant style raising. I got pregnant at 17, began binge eating and spiraled. I ended up raped after a wild night and wanted to die. I ended up changing my life from that point forward. I worked on myself and got into real estate. I started doing well when my husband started a business and his business partner robbed us and clients of everything. We lost everything and landed in a trailer park and lived off $600 a month, while unexpectedly pregnant with my daughter (after my husbands vasectomy 5 years prior). I took a break from real estate to get a job so we could get back on our feet. Became extremely miserable with back into real estate and have been going for the last six years. Now I'm in the top 10% of agents of my industry I have a whole team underneath me and am expanding into other businesses. Also! Forgot to mention that I've lost 100 pounds in this time with continuous results." From small beginnings where he was told he couldn't amount to anything unless he went to college, to crushing it in the real estate game and exceeding all expectations he ever set for himself is my friend John Michael Perez. He told himself that if he didn't get signed and "make-it" as a musician by age 25 then he had to go out and get a real job. So after a quick google search on how to become a millionaire he found real estate listed as #3. Ever since he's been his journey to create success for himself and his family in ways they never thought possible. Tune in to hear about Johns ups and downs and how he was able to tackle them every step of the way. @soldbyjohnperez --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/austin-larson24/support
After we cut from shooting Mickey's episode we started chatting more on why we as humans must hit "rock bottom" or go through something very uncomfortable before we make a shift to big change. Being a product of his environment he found himself running with the wrong crowd early in life. Faced with 4 felony charges before the age of 18, he knew he was going to end up dead or in prison for life. Through seeing the value of building something with his hands and getting into construction, to getting fit and meeting his wife at a Spartan race Mickey has been on involved with fitness and business ever since. Tune in to see how he ran with Alex Hormozi in the early days and what his current plans for the future are. Sit down and listen!) into a skill she uses FOR herself every single day.
