Republican Primary Winner Matt Van Epps will face Democrat Aftyn Behn December 2nd in the General Election for U.S. Representative for the TN-07 Congressional District. Matt Van Epps returns to Inside Politics to answer more question from host Ben Hall. Van Epps says his experience in the military and small business while still serving National Guard helped him win the primary. Van Epps says his goals if elected will be multifaceted. "Driving down the cost of living, driving our economy, decreasing inflation are all incredibly important and will be a priority on day one." He will also prioritize the military and veterans. "The first bill will be a bill for veterans." He also answered questions about his allegiance to Donald Trump and a possible 3rd term as president, the impact of tariffs on Tennessee farmers, his view on the Epstein files, ACA subsides and SNAP benefits. Meanwhile, Russian President Vladmir Putin has announced a new underwater nuclear-capable missile known as Poseidon—which can supposedly generate a tsunami powerful enough to destroy a coastal city. 6:40pm- In the final years of the Biden administration, White House Spokesperson Ian Sams claimed to meet with the President Joe Biden “every single day”—appearing on television regularly to vouch for Biden's cognitive abilities. However, in recent testimony provided to the House Oversight Committee, Sams revealed he only met with Biden “three or four times” in the two years he served in the administration!

Send us a textChloe Pleznac is a former reporter for the Homer News. After six years working in public radio, Chloe got her first newspaper job at the Homer News in January of this year. After the right-wing political activist Charlie Kirk was assassinated on Sept. 10, the Representative for Homer Sarah Vance co-organized a vigil for Kirk in Homer which was held on Sept. 17. Chloe decided to cover the vigil for the paper and posted her story online along with video of the event to the Homer News website on Tuesday Sept. 23. Rep. Vance objected to the article and wrote a letter to Carpenter Media which owns not only the Homer News but also the Peninsula Clarion in Kenai and the Juneau Empire. By Thursday Sept 25, Chloe's story had been taken down, rewritten, and then re-published online without Chloe's byline and without a note stating that the story had been changed. Neither Chloe nor her editor Erin Thompson were informed that the story had been taken down, edited, and republished.  Ultimately, both Chloe and her editor resigned from the paper because of the incident. Joining them in their resignation were the entire staff of the Peninsula Clarion in Homer Jeff Helminiak and Jake Dye, who appeared on this podcast the day after the resignations. Ultra-processed food addiction in a nationally representative sample of older adults in the USA  Addiction Using a cross-sectional online and telephone survey of a nationally representative sample of older adults (aged 50–80 years) in the US, this study examined the prevalence of ultra-processed food addiction (UPFA) in older US adults and its association with various health domains.  It found that ultra-processed food addiction appears to be prevalent among older adults in the US, particularly among women who were in adolescence and early adulthood when the nutrient quality of the US food supply worsened. Armed conflicts both increase the need for aid and greatly complicate delivery of humanitarian services to vulnerable populations. In addition, humanitarian organizations are facing an increasing funding gap because of dwindling donor aid. These challenges are forcing humanitarian organizations to revisit the effectiveness and cost-efficacy of their programs and services for conflict-affected populations. The government has told councils to review speed limits in built-up areas with a view to lowering many to 30km/h within 18 months. Transport minister Darragh O’Brien has directed local authorities to review existing speed limits on roads in built-up and urban areas. Councils are to implement the lower speed limits, including the 30km/h speed limits, where they deem them appropriate, such as in cities and towns. Anne-Marie Fuller of the Green Party in Kerry spoke to Treasa as she believes this move would make travelling safer for cyclists.
