The people chasing everything usually end up empty because external success alone cannot create lasting fulfillment. Many men spend years chasing women, money, fame, and validation, only to feel lost when they finally achieve what they wanted. True personal growth begins when you stop seeking approval and start doing the inner work that most people avoid. Success is built through discipline, self improvement, and the willingness to face uncomfortable truths. When you embrace personal development and focus on becoming a better man, confidence, purpose, and meaningful success naturally follow in every area of life. Shelly Fairchild on Staying in the Queue, Recording at FAME, and Building an Independent CareerOn Curious Goldfish, host Jason English talks with Mississippi-born, Nashville-based singer-songwriter Shelly Fairchild about persevering through setbacks (“stay in the queue” and “buy the tree”), including losing a major label deal 20 years ago after being outed and forging an independent path since. Fairchild shares why it took a decade to make her new album, how a Kickstarter funded it, and why she recorded at FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals with producers Gary Nichols and Greg Beek, describing the studio's historic energy and an accompanying documentary shoot. She compares the new record's themes of home, loss, and identity to earlier albums, discusses songs like “End Up in Austin,” “Missin' Mississippi,” and “Struggle,” and reflects on musical theater roots, touring as a backing vocalist, and writing high-volume sync music for TV/film—including navigating AI demo tools and changing music economics.00:00 Stay in the Queue01:05 Podcast Welcome and Guest Intro01:51 Water Filter Cold Open03:34 Ten Years Between Albums05:16 Why Muscle Shoals and FAME10:26 The Magic of Muscle Shoals12:45 Themes and Storytelling Roots14:56 Finding Her Sound Over Time17:22 End Up in Austin Backstory20:00 More Songs and The Struggle23:11 Musical Theater Origins28:46 Business Lessons from Touring32:01 Stay in the Queue34:32 Whirlwind Tour Lessons35:39 Bus Driver Wakeup Call37:24 Two Decades in a Blur38:08 Making Money with Sync41:14 How Sync Writing Works44:44 AI and Demo Shortcuts47:52 Losing the Deal Coming Out51:00 Authenticity and Activism56:06 Curiosity and Distribution59:49 Tour Dates and Farewell

Hidden Killers With Tony Brueski | True Crime News & Commentary
Surveillance cameras in Two Rivers, Wisconsin captured Jesse Vang pulling up to the donation door of a St. Vincent de Paul store on February 19, 2024 and dropping off a dark-colored suitcase. He'd borrowed a neighbor's Nissan Altima. He'd left his phone at home playing a Netflix movie. When investigators tracked down and tested that suitcase, the Wisconsin State Crime Lab found one DNA profile inside. It was Elijah Vue's.The next morning, Vang reported the three-year-old missing. He told police the boy walked off during a nap. That story was already being coordinated — Elijah's mother Katrina Baur sent Vang a message within sixty seconds of the 911 call telling him what to say. She deleted it. Investigators found it anyway. What unfolded over the next seven months was one of the largest searches in recent Wisconsin history. FBI agents, state investigators, community volunteers numbering in the hundreds. They searched landfills, rivers, storm drains, and private property. A $40,000 reward went unclaimed for months.A hunter found Elijah's remains in September 2024, three miles from Vang's apartment, in a wooded area that had been searched before. Forensic analysis revealed injuries that occurred weeks before the child died. Both Vang and Baur face felony charges. Both have pleaded not guilty. Tony Brueski walks through the investigative timeline — the phone data, the surveillance footage, the suitcase, the deleted messages, and the seven-month search that ended in a forest three miles from where it started.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/ Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Ted Bundy crossed a state line in September 1974 and became a new person. Washington had his name. Washington had his composite. Washington had two hundred thousand tips. None of it followed him to Utah.He arrived in Salt Lake City as a first-year law student with clean plates and a clean record. Between October 1974 and August 1975, he moved across Utah, Colorado, and Idaho. Nancy Wilcox, sixteen, vanished in Holladay. Melissa Smith, seventeen, the police chief's daughter, was found in a canyon nine days after she disappeared. Laura Aime, seventeen, left a Halloween party and was found on Thanksgiving Day. Caryn Campbell, twenty-three, walked down a brightly lit hallway at a Colorado ski lodge and never reached her room.On Taylor Mountain back in Washington, forestry students found four skulls: Lynda Healy, Susan Rancourt, Kathy Parks, Brenda Ball. Their families were burying daughters while Utah was just beginning to look. The break came from two directions. Carol DaRonch, eighteen, who had fought her way out of Bundy's Volkswagen on November 8, 1974 — the only survivor who could identify him. And Sergeant Bob Hayward, parked in his own driveway, who chased a dark VW at 2:30 AM and found a kit in the front seat that no law student has a reason to carry. When Detective Jerry Thompson connected the name Bundy to DaRonch's case and called Colorado and Washington, the files crossed state lines for the first time in nineteen months. This is the second of five conversations in Ted Bundy: History's Hidden Killers. The killer who used geography as a weapon. The survivor who refused to disappear. [Part One of Two] In Part One of this two-part episode, investigative journalists Mandy Matney and Liz Farrell break down James Lasdun's Becky Hill piece and explain why it reads less like journalism and more like the latest brick in Team Murdaugh's three-year 'narrative-laundering' project. From the recycled "pizza conspiracy" to the false claim that Mark Tinsley has known Christine Avery since 2020, this is what happens when a writer for the New Yorker wanders onto a Murdaugh chessboard perhaps without realizing he's a playing piece. Mandy and Liz connect the dots between Dick Harpootlian's subpoena-power threats, Greg Parker's attorneys, the Egg Lady juror's book written with a convicted felon, and the recycled smears designed to discredit the credible voices standing between Alex Murdaugh and an acquittal at his retrial. Receipts are coming in Part Two — out Friday. Get your pins ready... Let's Dive in…
Why do so many high-achieving women end up resenting the very life they worked so hard to build? In this episode, Michelle explores the hidden cost of overfunctioning, chronic responsibility, and the nervous system patterns that keep women stuck carrying everything for everyone else. Inside this episode, you'll learn: Why resentment is often a signal, not a flaw The neuroscience behind overfunctioning and hyper-responsibility Common thought patterns keeping women trapped in burnout cycles How nervous system safety impacts leadership, boundaries, and relationships Practical ways to stop rescuing, start asking for support, and release self-pressure If you're a woman in leadership, sales, business, or a high-performance environment who feels emotionally overloaded despite "having it all together," this episode will help you create a more sustainable way forward—one built on self-trust instead of constant self-sacrifice.

A family that endorsed presidential candidates, worked inside conservative political organizations, and helped build the movement that just passed death penalty legislation for crimes against children — has now produced two brothers facing charges involving minors. One is convicted. One is awaiting trial. And the political allies who stood beside them for twenty years have gone silent.Tony Brueski rips into the motion Joseph Duggar's attorney filed asking a Florida judge to modify the no-contact order so he can see his four children unsupervised. The filing calls the restriction a “hardship.” Tony redefines what hardship actually looks like — starting with a fourteen-year-old girl who allegedly carried what happened to her for five years, and ending with a movement that writes laws it refuses to apply to its own people. This episode traces the thread from Jim Bob Duggar's email telling his accused son to “make lemonade out of lemons” to Josh Duggar's prison emails about God calling him back to politics, to the growing wave of state legislation making crimes against children punishable by death — and the deafening silence from the families who helped put those laws on the books. Tony pulls no punches and holds every name in this story accountable to the standard they set for everyone else.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? The state prosecutor who handled Becky Hill's criminal case said there wasn't enough evidence to charge her with jury tampering. Four months later, the South Carolina Supreme Court unanimously ruled that's exactly what she did. The state never treated her conduct as the constitutional violation the Supreme Court found it to be. It never followed the evidence wherever it led.So who's investigating? Alex Murdaugh's defense team. Five days after the reversal, they filed a seventeen-page federal civil rights lawsuit against Hill. Section 1983. Six hundred thousand dollars in damages directed to the receivership. Jim Griffin said publicly the money isn't the point — the subpoena power is. Depositions. Sworn testimony. The ability to ask questions under oath that the state never bothered to ask.Eric Faddis explains the mechanics — what Section 1983 requires, why it's unusual to aim it at a court clerk rather than law enforcement, and what civil discovery opens up that the criminal process never provided. He addresses why Griffin went out of his way to distance Murdaugh personally from the damages, and what the discovery process could reveal about whether Hill acted alone. The retrial question sits behind all of it. Murdaugh is 57 and serving 40 years federal — he's never leaving prison regardless. But Maggie was 52 and Paul was 22. They were killed on their own family's property, and the legal record currently says nobody has been convicted of doing it. The guilty verdicts are gone. The life sentences are vacated. A thief's sentence is not a murderer's accountability. The obligation to answer who killed them hasn't disappeared — it's been reset. The Attorney General is reportedly considering the death penalty. Financial crimes victims have said they'll testify again. The question of who killed Maggie and Paul Murdaugh deserves an answer that can't be challenged.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? What if the biggest challenge facing young adults isn't a lack of opportunity, but a lack of intentional direction early on?In this episode, Lisa Marker-Robbins explores how delayed self-awareness and career exploration can leave capable young adults feeling stuck despite outward success. Using the story of Molly, a 26-year-old HR professional, she illustrates how adult responsibilities gradually shape career decisions and limit flexibility over time. She also shares how intentional exploration, real-world exposure, and confidence-building can help young adults gain clarity earlier and avoid feeling successful on paper but deeply unfulfilled in reality. In this episode, you'll discover:How delayed self-awareness can lead to career dissatisfactionHow do adult responsibilities gradually reduce career flexibilityBuilding confidence through networking and real-world explorationUsing intentional time to create clarity and momentumKey Takeaways: Many young adults feel trapped in careers that no longer fit because they made major decisions in the teen years before fully understanding themselves, making later pivots emotionally and financially difficult.Adult responsibilities like income expectations, location, relationships, routines, work-life balance, and community ties gradually reduce career flexibility and make once-possible paths feel less realistic.Waiting for clarity without intentional action often creates more confusion, while restarting, “paying dues” again, or returning to school can feel much harder once adult responsibilities begin stacking up.Informational interviews, networking, and intentional exploration can help young adults discover better-fitting opportunities while also building confidence, resilience, and professional initiative. “It's not about forcing certainty. It's about helping them understand themselves, explore, and validate within a real systematic framework so that they can gain early traction.” – Lisa Marker-RobbinsEpisode References:#013 The Many Advantages of a Gap Year with Holly Bull: https://flourishcoachingco.com/podcast/13-the-many-advantages-of-a-gap-year/#062 Gap Year: Is it a better freshman start?: https://flourishcoachingco.com/podcast/062-gap-year-is-it-a-better-freshmen-start/Turn confusion into career clarity—and give your teen direction and you peace of mind with Launch Career Clarity®: https://www.flourishcoachingco.com/course/Get Lisa's Free on-demand video: THE CAREER IDENTIFICATION COMPASS: How To Be Certain Your 15 To 25 Year Old is On The Right Path to Launch With Confidence–Not Confusion: flourishcoachingco.com/video Connect with Lisa:Website: https://www.flourishcoachingco.com/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@flourishcoachingcoFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/flourishcoachingco/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/flourishcoachingco/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/flourish-coaching-co

You start with a sore back, a little anxiety, or a desire to feel better… and somehow end up spending thousands of dollars on supplements, questioning your cookware, tracking your nervous system, and wondering if your WiFi is destroying your mitochondria. In this episode, we unpack the wellness pipeline - the slippery slope from genuine healing and self-care into misinformation, obsession, perfectionism, and trying to do all the things. We talk about the addictive pull of wellness culture, anxiety, OCD tendencies, the pressure to optimize ourselves, and how wellness can quietly become another impossible standard to live up to. Giana shares pieces of her healing journey, Bradshaw reflects on addiction and all-or-nothing patterns, and we explore the blurry line between being informed, being empowered, and getting completely consumed. We get into supplements, faith, fear, balance, checking in with yourself, managing anxiety, and the question underneath all of it: How do we care deeply about our health without losing ourselves in the pursuit of perfect wellness?A nuanced, personal, occasionally unhinged conversation about healing, control, wellness culture, and finding a little more honesty and balance along the way.Want to support our podcast? There's a piece of infrastructure in downtown Nashville that is about to go away. When it does, there may not be any clues left from a fascinating — and brief — chapter in the city's transportation history.Do you remember when WeGo had a fleet of super-quiet all-electric buses running for free throughout downtown? Bus commuter Joe Pagetta does. He wrote to Curious Nashville with this question:In the not-so-distant past, Nashville used to have a free electric bus circuit called the Music City Circuit, which connected downtown to Bicentennial Mall and the Gulch. And then it just disappeared sometime around COVID. I'm curious about that, but even more curious about the abandoned electric bus charging infrastructure that's still standing … like dystopian props from Old Detroit in Robocop. If there are no plans to bring the electric buses back, what is going to happen to that decaying infrastructure? The question reached the right place, as WPLN has covered the rise and fall of those buses since 2015.

Hello to you listening in Lanús, Argentina! Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday and your host, Diane Wyzga. In my mind's eye I see that child on the Jersey Shore arms spread wide clasping the inflated beach ball to her chest, fingers stretched and gripping, eyes barely peeking over the top. Along comes mom with a triple-decker ice cream cone - 3 scoops - all chocolate. The child wants both: beach ball and ice cream; but can hold only one. Now what? After tears, frustration, stomping around something or someone wins out. Who do you recognize here? Because no matter how old we become some things never change: we want both but have to choose one. The choices we make can become our greatest adventures if we're bold. When we let go of what we're desperately clinging to we might very well end up with the biggest prize of all: the one true life that is meant for us. Story Prompt: Find a memory moment when you were presented with a choice, maybe like the beach ball and ice cream cone. You wanted both; but could have only one. Which did you choose and how come? Write that story and share it out loud! You're always welcome: "Come for the stories - Stay for the magic!" Speaking of magic, I hope you'll subscribe, share a 5-star rating and nice review on your social media or podcast channel of choice, bring your friends and rellies, and join us! What happens when a COVID-19 antiviral drug trial gets misclassified as electromagnetic field research? Today we explore a fascinating case study in how scientific databases can go wrong. I'm examining what appears to be a significant categorization error in EMF research databases -- where a clinical trial testing COVID treatments somehow ended up labeled as shark behavior research related to subsea power cables. This mix-up reveals important lessons about research integrity and the challenges of maintaining accurate scientific databases. In This Episode How the RECOVERY trial tested COVID antivirals in over one thousand patients Why proper study categorization matters for meaningful research synthesis What this teaches us about verifying research relevance before drawing conclusions Featured Study Read the full study: From subsea power cable to small-spotted catshark Scyliorhinus canicula: Behavioural effects of electromagnetic fields in tank experiments See all studies at shieldyourbody.com/research
