Throughout April, we've been journeying through our King of Kings sermon series. This Sunday, we'll bring the series to a close by focusing our hearts on Jesus as the Coming King. We'll reflect on his final moments with the disciples after the resurrection - his ascension and return to the Father. In this powerful scene, we're reminded that as we await the return of the King of Kings, we live in the tension between our deep longing for his coming and the faithful pursuit of the work he has entrusted to us.

This coming Sunday is Easter - a celebration of the resurrection of Jesus, a powerful reminder of new beginnings. It's a day that speaks of grace, renewal, and the chance to start over. This week's sermon will reflect on one of Jesus' appearances to his disciples after rising from the dead, reminding us that because Jesus is the risen King, our past no longer defines us. Instead, we are invited into a brand new future.

This coming Friday is Good Friday and we will be hosting a Good Friday service at 10 am. This will be a quiet, reflective morning focusing on the cross and will include worship, individual and corporate prayer, and communion. We will also be receiving a special benevolent fund offering to help those in need in our community.

This coming Sunday is Palm Sunday, a special opportunity to honour and worship Jesus as the King of Kings. Just as the crowds celebrated him, we will unite in worship, acknowledging his sovereignty. This Sunday will serve as a reminder that truly embracing Jesus as the King of Kings calls us to worship him with genuine hearts, authenticity, and complete devotion.

This week, we'll dive into two key scriptures - the announcement of Jesus' birth to Mary and the shepherds and reflect on the truth that Jesus was born the King of Kings. We will be reminded that recognizing and embracing Jesus as the King of Kings should lead us to proclaim Him as the Lord of our lives.

This Sunday, we'll be wrapping up our winter series, Feast – a journey through the theme of hospitality as seen in the Gospel of Luke. We'll focus on an encounter Jesus had with a sinful woman at a table in the house of Simon the Pharisee, found in Luke 7. In this story, Jesus steps in to advocate for the woman, who is the target of the Pharisee's anger. We'll be reminded that in the Kingdom of God, those who have truly experienced God's love and empathy are called to extend that same love and empathy to others.

We'll be continuing our sermon series, this time looking at the account of the two disciples on Emmaus Road. And we'll explore how, even though they did not recognize Jesus at first, it was at the table that His identity was revealed to them.
