Send us a textEver wondered what it takes to build a thriving, diversified business in the shed industry? Norman Eicher of Mountain View takes us behind the scenes of his remarkable journey from humble beginnings to running a multifaceted enterprise that's continuously expanding.Starting with a simple construction company that added shed sales in 2009, Norman has methodically grown his operation to include a truss plant, metal fabrication facility, and a full-scale lumberyard. The conversation reveals fascinating insights into his metal manufacturing innovations, where his team has developed techniques to produce trim pieces every 15 seconds rather than the traditional 30 seconds per piece. This kind of efficiency has allowed his metal business to nearly match his shed sales in revenue generation. What makes this episode particularly valuable is Norman's candid discussion about business relationships and profit margins. "If my employee isn't making me money, why is he here? If I'm not making Sam money, I need to figure out what I'm doing wrong," he shares, highlighting a refreshing perspective on value creation throughout the supply chain. Norman articulates why being upset when others profit from your work represents a problematic mindset that limits growth and cooperation. The episode takes fascinating detours into Norman's background – building rafters at age 12 for $2 an hour in Southern Ontario, his time in Illinois learning the shed business, and finally establishing his Tennessee operation in 2006. His approach to quality, particularly in customer interactions, underscores why superior service trumps price-cutting. "If your price is within 15%, they will buy based on your personality and your way of approaching them," he notes, explaining why one of his salespeople consistently outperforms expectations.Whether you're directly involved in the shed industry or simply interested in business growth strategies, Norman's philosophy that "quality will long outlast quantity" offers timeless wisdom. His predictions about market consolidation and insights on keeping transportation in-house provide food for thought for anyone navigating similar business decisions.Ready to learn more about diversification strategies that can weather market fluctuations? Listen now and discover how innovation, relationship-building, and unwavering quality standards have positioned Mountain View for continued success in an evolving market. For more information or to know more about the Shed Geek Podcast visit us at our website.Follow us on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, or YouTube at the handle @shedgeekpodcast.To be a guest on the Shed Geek Podcast visit our website and fill out the "Contact Us" form.To suggest show topics or ask questions you want answered email us at info@shedgeek.com.This episodes Sponsors:Studio Sponsor: Union Grove LumberCardinal ManufacturingCardinal LeasingShed Challenger
Send us a textWhat happens when a long-term couple invites a third person into their relationship—and it doesn't go as planned? In this raw and revealing episode, I sit down with six-time Emmy-nominated TV producer Jeff Hudson to talk about his memoir Deconstructing Us: My Trouble with a Throuple. Jeff shares what it was like to navigate the emotional rollercoaster of a throuple, how jealousy blindsided him, and why non-monogamy cracked him wide open—in the best and worst ways.We explore:Why three-person relationships are emotional rocket fuelHow jealousy shows up even when you're experienced in open relationshipsThe difference between love and compatibilityIdentity shifts that come with loving outside the boxWhy breakdowns in love can lead to breakthroughs in self-awarenessWhether you're polyam-curious, actively non-monogamous, or just fascinated by the complexity of modern love—this conversation will challenge and expand how you think about commitment, identity, and connection.
Focus: The resurrection turns the world upside down—the grave is empty, death is defeated, and love reigns victorious. What seemed like the end was only the beginning. The first witnesses were the least expected, the risen Jesus appeared to the broken and afraid, and His command was not to retreat but to go beyond boundaries and proclaim life to all nations. In the upside-down Kingdom of God, hope is born from despair, power is revealed in humility, and victory comes through surrender. Because He lives, we are sent to love beyond all limits, carrying the message of resurrection to a world desperate for new life. Galatians 3:26-28; Matthew 28:1-10, 18-20
Focus: Loving beyond boundaries requires trust—trust in God's love, trust in His provision, and trust that He is working through us to bless others. Too often, fear holds us back from fully committing—fear of scarcity, fear of the unknown, fear of not having enough. But Scripture reminds us: There is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear (1 John 4:18). Today, as we make our financial commitments for the year, we do so without fear, knowing that our generosity is an expression of love beyond boundaries. Our giving is not just about sustaining a church; it is about participating in God's mission, ensuring that His love flows freely into our neighborhoods and beyond. Because He first loved us, we can give boldly, trusting that His grace is always more than enough. 1 John 4:19-21; 2 Corinthians 9:6-8
Focus: From the upper room to Golgotha, Jesus' love remains steadfast. Betrayed, denied, and abandoned, He carries His cross through the suffering of rejection and pain. Yet, even in agony, He extends love beyond boundaries—praying for His enemies, welcoming a criminal into paradise, and surrendering His life for the world. In the upside-down Kingdom of God, power is revealed in sacrifice, and victory comes through the cross. Philippians 2:5-11; Isaiah 53
Focus: In the upper room, Jesus redefines leadership and love—not by taking a throne, but by kneeling under the towel to wash His disciples' feet. As He breaks bread and shares the cup, He invites them into a new covenant of self-giving love. The way of Jesus is not about status but sacrifice, not about being served but serving. To love beyond boundaries means humbling ourselves, washing the feet of friends and betrayers alike, and embracing the way of the cross. John 13:1-17; Luke 22:14-20
Focus: As Jesus rides into Jerusalem, the crowd celebrates Him as King, yet within days, many will turn away. The way of the Kingdom is not about power and dominance but about crossing the road to show mercy, just as the Good Samaritan did. Jesus challenges us to love beyond comfort, moving across the road to serve, even when it leads to suffering. His path to the cross was an act of boundary-breaking love—one that invites us to walk in His footsteps. Luke 10:25-37; Matthew 21:1-11

“God has been so good to us! I want to thank Him for our anniversary.” Terry’s voice was steady, and the tears in her eye showed her sincerity. Those in our small group were deeply moved. We knew what past years had held for Terry and her husband. Though a believer, Robert suffered from the sudden onset of severe mental illness and had taken the life of their four-year-old daughter. He would be institutionalized for decades, but Terry visited him, and God did a beautiful healing work, helping her forgive. Despite profound heartache, their love for each other grew. Love and forgiveness like that could only come from one source. David writes about God this way, “He does not treat us as our sins deserve . . . . As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us” (Psalm 103:10, 12). The mercy God shows us comes through His expansive love: “For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love” for us (v. 11). Love so profound compelled Him to go to the depths of the cross and grave to take away our sins so that He could bring all who “receive Him” (John 1:12) home to Himself. Terry was right. “God has been so good to us!” His love and forgiveness reach beyond unthinkable boundaries and offer us life that never ends.
