In the final episode of our 6 Part Series, "Communication Lies Leaders Believe", Tammy delivers a hard truth: some of the support you're giving your team isn't helping—it's enabling. This episode busts the myth that constantly helping will lead to growth and exposes the codependent patterns that can quietly destroy a team's culture. Tammy reveals how over-functioning for your people can lead to burnout among your top talent and a cycle of learned helplessness in your low performers. She provides a reset with 3 clear steps to stop rescuing and start truly empowering your team. Your job is to coach, not to coddle. Key Takeaways for Leaders Helping Can Be Hurtful: "Support becomes enablement when you take the responsibility for someone else's growth." The Codependent Cycle: You rely on your team to make you feel needed, and they rely on you to fix their problems. The High Cost of Coddling: Over-functioning for a low performer can cause your top talent to feel undervalued and lead to a 20% increase in overall turnover. Recognize the Signs: You're rescuing instead of leading if you're more invested in solving their problems than they are, or if you feel guilty when they fail. Break the Cycle: Coach people forward, not where they're at. The Three Steps to Truly Support Growth Name It and Claim It: Step in and address the pattern directly. Acknowledge that you've been solving their issues and state that it's not sustainable. Give Responsibility Back: Map out what success looks like and make it clear that your role is a resource, not a rescuer. Hold the Line: Set clear boundaries and expectations. If they don't act, don't step in. Let the natural consequences of their inaction play out. If this episode hit home, it's time to break a pattern. In this episode of All About Capital Campaigns, Amy Eisenstein and Andrea Kihlstedt outline three essential steps that nonprofit leaders should take to prepare their boards for a capital campaign. Many board members come to the table with limited or inaccurate ideas about what a campaign involves. Amy and Andrea explain how to bridge that knowledge gap, address common anxieties, and set clear expectations so that your board feels confident and prepared to support your campaign. The conversation begins with the importance of a Campaign 101 session. Board members need a clear understanding of what a capital campaign is, how it works, and what makes it different from annual fundraising. Amy and Andrea share simple ways to introduce these fundamentals, from inviting a consultant to lead a workshop to using Capital Campaign Pro's Board Members Guide to Capital Campaigns as a discussion tool.Next, the hosts highlight the importance of clarifying board roles and giving expectations. They talk about how to create space for meaningful conversations about what each board member will contribute, both in terms of financial support and active involvement. These conversations help reduce uncertainty and ease fears about asking for gifts. Amy and Andrea emphasize that preparing your board is an ongoing process that should unfold over multiple meetings rather than a single session. Finally, the episode covers the often-overlooked need for investment in campaign resources. Too often, organizations underestimate the financial and staffing requirements of a campaign, assuming existing staff can manage everything. Amy and Andrea explain why dedicating a budget for campaign support, whether through additional staff or experienced consultants, is critical to success. They illustrate how early investments in expertise and planning prevent costly mistakes and set campaigns on a strong trajectory.Throughout the discussion, listeners will hear real examples from Amy and Andrea's work with nonprofit leaders and boards, including common pitfalls that organizations face when they try to “go it alone.” The episode underscores that preparing your board is not a one-time task but a thoughtful process that builds confidence, clarity, and commitment.Whether you're a nonprofit executive, development professional, or board leader, this episode will provide practical insights you can use right away to prepare your board for the challenges and opportunities of a capital campaign. For more board engagement tips, be sure to download our free Board Member's Guide to Capital Campaign Fundraising. It answers the questions board members most frequently ask, or wish they could ask.

Navigating life after separation requires more than just knowing what your children need - it demands the capacity to advocate for them even when it's deeply uncomfortable. In this groundbreaking episode, I reveal my proprietary framework that's transformed hundreds of parents from conflict avoidant to genuinely protective. The Three Steps to Protective Parenting® framework addresses the missing link in most post-separation advice. While professionals typically focus on providing information - communication scripts, legal strategies, parenting tips - they overlook the crucial element of capacity building. This oversight explains why so many parents remain stuck, unable to implement what they know is right for their children.Capacity grows through gradually and intentionally facing manageable discomfort - not avoiding it. When you practice pausing before reacting to triggers, you're literally rewiring neural pathways between your prefrontal cortex and limbic system. Discover how changing your perspective on money can transform your financial stress into peace and purpose. Pastor Daniel addresses the real reason most people struggle with money decisions - we've been asking the wrong questions. Instead of "How can I maximize this for me?" learn to ask "How can I honor God with what He's entrusted to me?" Using Proverbs 3, he shows how biblical stewardship offers a practical framework that protects your heart from money's destructive power while creating margin for generosity. Whether you're drowning in debt, blessed with wealth, or skeptical about religious motives around money - this message provides clarity for modern financial decisions and freedom from the anxiety that comes with trying to control what was never yours.

Getting organized is more than putting things in their place. It can change the way you move through your day, the way you show up for yourself, and the way you experience freedom. In this final episode of The Corinne Morahan Podcast (for now), Corinne looks back on the journey of 82 episodes and shares the lessons that have shaped her life and work. She explains how clearing clutter and creating systems has given her space to release urgency, live with more ease, and enjoy the people and opportunities that matter most. When the noise quiets down, where do you find yourself? When your home and calendar finally support the life you want, what new possibilities open up? Corinne offers three simple practices to begin shaping your own version of the glam life: notice what urgency is costing you, create one small standard that makes your days lighter, and write down a vision of how you want life to feel. She also introduces her new program, The Glam Life Collective, a space designed for deeper support and transformation. This is both a thank you and an invitation to keep exploring how organization can become the foundation for a life that feels aligned, intentional, and free. It's a reminder that every small shift you make creates ripples far beyond tidy shelves or cleared calendars. The choices you make today shape the energy you carry, the relationships you nurture, and the dreams you allow yourself to chase. Even in this pause, the conversation continues, because the work of building a life that feels true to you is never finished. It keeps unfolding, one decision, one habit, one vision at a time. Are you caught in the trap of telling yourself, "when the kids finish school, then I'll focus on me" or "once work slows down, then I'll pursue my dreams"? In this powerful solo episode, Jo cuts through the excuses we tell ourselves and reveals why waiting for the perfect moment is costing us precious years of our lives. Drawing from neuroscience and real client stories, this conversation will challenge you to recognise the mental patterns keeping you stuck and give you the tools to break free from the waiting game once and for all.Key TakeawaysYour Brain Is Wired to Keep You WaitingNeuroscience shows us that our brains use the "not yet, it's not safe, you're not ready" narrative to protect us from uncertainty. This negativity bias keeps us clinging to the familiar, even when it's no longer serving us. Recognising this as a biological response, not truth, is the first step to freedom.Life Doesn't Stop While You're PlanningTime is a precious, finite gift that continues moving whether we're ready or not. The women who wait until their children leave home often find themselves overwhelmed by empty nest syndrome and identity shifts all at once, whilst those who plan ahead feel prepared and excited for their next chapter.Three Steps to Break the Waiting CycleFirst, catch your exact excuses and notice the stories you repeat to yourself. Second, take one brave, imperfect step this week, no matter how small. Third, simply decide that now is the right time because there's no perfect day circled on any calendar waiting for you.Small Actions Create Big ChangesYou don't need everything figured out to begin. Jo shares how starting her podcast without being "ready" led to over 150 episodes and a thriving community. One client who couldn't wait five more years took just one step, and it changed everything.Midlife Isn't a Waiting RoomThis season of life is an invitation, not a holding pattern. Instead of asking "when will I be ready?" start asking "what would I change if I decided now was the right time?" The answer to that question holds the key to your next chapter.Your Next Chapter Starts NowIf this episode has you thinking "this is exactly what I need to hear," consider this your sign to stop waiting. What's one small step you could take this week towards something you've been postponing? Whether it's booking that class, having that conversation, or writing down a dream you've been afraid to voice, your future self will thank you for starting today.Journal on these questions and notice what comes up for you. Ready to get on my email list? CLICK HERE (you won't regret it!) In this episode of Wisdom's Table, I, Rachel Wortman, invite you to explore the transformative power of obstacles and how we can turn them into opportunities. We kick off the episode with a heartfelt invitation for you to join my email list, where I share faith-based content that complements our podcast discussions. I have something exciting in the works that I can't wait to share with you, and being on the email list will ensure you're the first to know! The inspiration for today's topic came from a recent brokerage meeting I hosted, where real estate agents shared their goals and the obstacles they face in the industry. A brilliant agent made a profound statement that resonated with me: “Can we really call them obstacles if they're just challenges of being in this industry?” This thought-provoking question led me to reflect on how we often amplify our challenges, viewing them as unique obstacles rather than recognizing them as part of the job. Throughout the episode, I share my personal experiences with the stress of entrepreneurship, particularly my ongoing struggle with naming my new project. I emphasize that while challenges are inherent in entrepreneurship, the benefits of pursuing our passions far outweigh these temporary hurdles. Loved this episode? Share it with a friend! “I want people to understand South Asian art as broader than a single gallery or a single artist, but as a larger cultural movement. I want people to encounter art in all parts of their lives, and I'm constantly thinking about new ways to achieve that. I was very aware, as someone launching a South Asia-focused gallery, that this was the cultural dynamic that undergirded the way that most people in the West were thinking about art from the region. Taking that on directly and inviting artists to work with that theme was a really important ground for setting the ethos of the gallery and the types of critical questions we wanted to tackle with the work we were doing.”My guest today is Rajiv Menon, a gallerist and curator who is carving out a distinctive space in the contemporary art world. Based in Los Angeles, Rajiv Menon holds a PhD from NYU, where he studied global media and visual culture, and he's also a passionate collector of South Asian art. He founded Rajiv Menon Contemporary with a clear mission: to bring artists from South Asia and its diaspora to a wider audience, and to cultivate a new generation of art collectors within these communities. His exhibitions have tackled fascinating themes, from the exuberant and sometimes overwhelming world of the Indian wedding through Viraj Khanna's intricate textile art in Why Did I Say Yes?, to a deep dive into the creativity of Kerala in Three Steps of Land, and a compelling look at how artists transform nostalgia into an aesthetic movement in The Past Is a Country. Have you ever felt stuck in your walk with God? In Ephesians 4:14-20, Paul gives us three clear steps for moving from spiritual infancy to maturity: Don't fall for false teaching; Speak the truth in love; Live the truth out daily. Spiritual growth doesn't happen by accident and believers must learn how to guard against deception, build each other up in faith, and live in a way that reflects Jesus in a world that desperately needs Him.
Picture this: You're sitting in a meeting watching your coworker present YOUR idea as their own. Your heart is racing, but you say nothing. I've been there. At Amazon, I watched someone steal my idea and get promoted for it. That moment taught me something crucial about surviving in a toxic workplace. The problem isn't that these betrayals happen. The problem is thinking you only have two options: stay silent or blow up. There's a third way. A framework that lets you confront difficult people without feeling like a jerk or damaging your reputation. What You'll Learn In this episode, I share the exact 3-step framework I wish I'd known during my Amazon days. This isn't just theory—I've used this with thousands of coaching clients dealing with workplace anxiety and difficult colleagues. This framework works whether you're dealing with: Coworkers who steal your ideas Colleagues who throw you under the bus in meetings People who say one thing privately and another in front of leadership The chronic "one-upper" on your team Key Takeaways Step 1: State the facts - Call out what actually happened without emotions or interpretations Step 2: Share your honest reaction - Don't apologize for being human, but be truthful about your response Step 3: Give them the benefit of the doubt - Create space for a real conversation by staying curious Why avoiding confrontation keeps you stuck in resentment and feeling like a victim How to process your anger first so you can have the conversation from a genuine place The Real Impact This isn't just about one difficult conversation. When you master this framework, you stop keeping mental scorecards of who you can trust. You break free from the exhaustion of managing toxic relationships. You'll know with confidence who's on your side and who isn't. No more second-guessing yourself or staying stuck in analysis paralysis. Why This Matters Now If you're experiencing burnout from constantly managing difficult workplace relationships, this episode is for you. The average employee at companies like Amazon lasts less than two years. But there's a better way than just surviving until your next job. The brutal truth: Nothing changes if nothing changes. Every week you wait is another week watching less qualified people get promoted while you stay exhausted and undervalued. Take Action Ready to stop letting workplace politics drain your energy? Episode Highlights ✅ Introduction to Lion Taming (00:00:00) Dr. Amy Vertrees introduces the “Lion Taming” master class on power and negotiation. Highlights her coaching program for women surgeons, helping them handle difficult colleagues, power dynamics, and negotiations. Defines BOSS as a suite of coaching and courses teaching crucial career skills often missing from surgical training. ✅ Who (or What) is the Lion? (00:02:08) “Lions” = Anyone who can harm your career, reputation, or confidence—senior colleagues, competitors, even patients. The most dangerous lions are sometimes the most powerless or wounded. Lion taming means: Finding your own power Managing those with power over you Acting despite fear Leading without formal authority ✅ Stress Responses in Conflict (00:05:52) Workplace conflicts trigger strong emotions like anger, fear, shame, or sadness. These emotions often stem from being dismissed, interrupted, or undermined. Four stress responses: Fight, Flight, Freeze, Fawn. Lion taming often involves recognizing and managing the “fight” response. Lesson from Androcles & the Lion: understanding and soothing the “lion's pain” can transform conflict into cooperation. ✅ New Approaches to Negotiation (00:12:15) Avoid using: The “Hammer” (intimidation) The “Armor” (withholding vulnerability) Instead, aim for: Honesty Genuine curiosity Emotional intelligence Insights from Kasia Urbaniak's “Woman's Guide to Power Unbound”: Dominance: Knowing and using your power Submission: Knowing what you want and influencing others to give it to you ✅ Self-Discovery & Managing Lions (00:16:35) Crucial steps for effective negotiation: Know your strengths and weaknesses Understand what you truly want Believe in your capacity to achieve it Reduce the lion's perceived threat by envisioning the best version of them. Negotiation isn't purely logical—it's driven by emotion and the sense of safety. ✅ Three Steps to Tame a Lion (00:25:20) Anchor: Create safety and stability within yourself. Align: Shift attention outward to engage strategically. Ask: Make a clear, powerful request. Recognize where your attention is: Inward focus = Submission Outward focus = Dominance ✅ Power is Not a Threat—It's a Tool (00:35:55) Power exists to influence, not intimidate. Dr. Vertrees encourages listeners to use their power for positive change. Power Negotiations course topics include: Identifying your needs Reading others' needs Practical negotiation techniques Surviving high-stakes conversations The “CEO Self-Concept”: Think of yourself as your own business, making choices aligned with your mission and values. ✅ Coaching Program Details (00:41:33) Weekly live sessions Private podcast + Facebook group Email support Discounted 1:1 coaching calls Dr. Vertrees encourages potential clients to discuss fit before joining. Daily Boost Podcast Show Notes Three Steps to Change Anything June 10, 2025 | Episode 5113 Host: Scott Smith Episode Description Change doesn't have to be complicated, even though we make it that way. In this episode, I break down the three essential steps you need to transform anything in your life. Whether you're stuck in analysis paralysis or overwhelmed by too many options, these steps will give you the clarity and direction you've been missing. I share why bad things change while good changes take more intentional steps, plus a personal story about my radio DJ days and how the podcasting world has flipped since 2006. Featured Story Scott reflects on his transition from radio DJ to podcast host, sharing how people once questioned his move to podcasting back in 2006. Now, 20 years later, former radio colleagues are calling him for advice on getting into the podcast world. It's a perfect example of how dramatically things can change when you stick to your vision. Important Points Most people struggle with change because they don't know what they want, making this the most difficult but essential first step. Success models and frameworks are everywhere, but you can only find the right roadmap when you have crystal-clear clarity on your specific outcome. Consistent, disciplined action toward your goal should happen every minute you're awake because every minute you're not moving forward is a minute you're not living the life you want. Memorable Quotes “Bad things change. Something bad happens, you change. Never going to do that again. Good things change slower than that.” “Every minute you're not bold is a minute you're not living what you want to live.” “You've been around living in this life a long time. You're smart enough to do this.” Scott's Three-Step Approach Get crystal clear on what you want - this is the most difficult step and may take weeks of honest self-reflection to figure out. Find a framework or roadmap by modeling others who have achieved what you want, but only after you know your specific outcome. Take consistent, disciplined action toward your goal every single day without procrastination or hesitation. Connect With Me Search for The Daily Boost on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. On this episode, we dig into the chilling account of a couple's brief but unforgettable stay at a peculiar apartment on Hillworth Avenue. What began as a simple move with their pets quickly spiraled into a series of unsettling events—unexplained footsteps, trembling animals, and an invisible presence that seemed to grow more bold with each passing day. As we follow their story, the psychological tension mounts. Why did the cats hide when they usually greeted their owners? What caused the dog to snarl at something six feet off the ground? And most importantly—what was it that entered their apartment… and why did it stop after just three steps?

I'm diving into one of my all-time favorite productivity mantras: work smarter, not harder. If you've ever found yourself running on empty, crossing 37 things off your to-do list—but still feeling like you're getting nowhere—then buckle up, because this one's for you. I kick things off by sharing a real-deal, behind-the-scenes story from my days as a high-performance athlete, when I finally learned the difference between just grinding... and training strategically. Spoiler alert: hustling harder didn't get me to the podium—smarter strategy did. That shift in mindset changed everything for me, and today I'm breaking down how you can apply the exact same principles to your business and everyday life. We'll talk about the trap of reactive work vs. strategic work—yep, there's a difference between being busy and being effective, and I'm not afraid to call it out. I'll also walk you through my signature three-step process to actually work smarter, so you can spend less time on the hamster wheel and more time making powerful moves that drive real results. And because I know you're wondering—yes, I'll tackle those pesky, non-needle-moving tasks that steal your time and sabotage your focus (I see you, inbox!). So, if you're ready to ditch burnout, reclaim your energy, and finally start making smarter, more aligned moves toward your greatness, hit play! Your future self will thank you!
