Witnesses don't stand still—they stay on mission. In Acts 1, Jesus sends His disciples to bear witness to the resurrection, empowered by the Spirit and anchored in hope. This message challenges us to follow their example, living as faithful witnesses in a world desperate for good news.

This sermon was preached by Jared Mellinger at Covenant Fellowship Church on September 7, 2025. Series: Non-Series Sunday Scripture: Acts 1:1-11
What does it mean to be a Spirit-empowered witness for Jesus? Acts 1 shows us that the mission of the church is built on the resurrection of Jesus and sustained by the empowering presence of the Spirit. This message reminds us that the same Spirit who filled the first disciples is alive and at work in us today.
Pastor Taylor brings us God's Word from Acts 3:1-4:31 with a sermon called Spirit-Empowered Boldness. How often do we shrink back when the name of Jesus comes up in conversation? Boldness can feel foreign in a culture that prizes comfort, safety, and tolerance. Yet in Acts 3-4, we meet the early church in its infancy—weak in numbers, but strong in the Spirit. What transformed ordinary fishermen into fearless witnesses was not personality, position, or power, but the presence of the Holy Spirit.Time:MorningMinister:Rev. Sometimes the Spirit's work doesn't come in the spectacular, but in the interruptions we'd rather ignore. In Acts 3, Peter and John are on their way to pray when they stop for a lame man at the temple gate. What follows is both a miraculous healing and a bold witness to Jesus. Kara Moses helps us see that the Spirit still prompts ordinary people today—nudging us to pay attention, to say yes, and to trust God with the outcome. This week's message invites us to loosen our grip on our plans and practice Spirit-led availability, because you never know what God might do through a simple act of obedience.

Today, on Karl and Crew, we kicked off our “going under the hood” weekly theme with a discussion about the unseen spiritual disciplines that cultivate our spiritual lives. Spiritual disciplines are practices that grow and deepen our spiritual lives, such as prayer, fasting, or quiet time with the Lord. What is an unseen discipline that is most beneficial to your spiritual life? We had a few of our listeners answer this question and share their stories. We also had Dr. Ronnie Floyd join us to speak on the importance of fasting. Dr. Floyd is a speaker, author, and encourager dedicated to helping others, committed to the next generation, and empowering leaders. He is also the host of the weekly podcast called “For Leaders Podcast with Ronnie Floyd.” Dr. Bill Thrasher also joined us to provide insight into finding delight in our prayer life. Dr. Thrasher is the Lead Professor in the Master’s Program in Spiritual Formation and Discipleship at Moody Bible Institute. He is also a frequent speaker across the country. He has also written several books, including “How to Resurrect a Dead Prayer Life: Transforming Your Prayers Into a Spirit-Empowered, Life-Giving Adventure.” You can hear the highlights of today’s program on the Karl and Crew Showcast.Donate to Moody Radio: http://moodyradio.org/donateto/morningshowSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
