Today, the couple are parents to their daughter, Harper – a chapter Carli describes as the greatest accomplishment of her life.Through Carli's voice, we're reminded that even champions have to learn how to let go; and why vulnerability is ultimately a sign of strength. What if the strategies you've used to avoid pain are the same ones keeping you disconnected from your soul? So much of our desire to strive and optimize is simply the ego's way of protecting us from discomfort. We call it growth, but in reality, it's avoidance. My guest today is my good friend Kyle Cease. Kyle was named one of Comedy Central's Top 10 Comics to Watch in 2009, and he's the author of my favorite book I read in 2025, The Illusion of Money. He was on the path to Hollywood stardom until something deeper called him to do what he was destined to do: become a spiritual teacher. Not to achieve more fame or money, but to develop a deeper connection to God, truth, and spiritual growth. In this episode, we go deeper than I've ever gone on this podcast. We talk about how the internet is bombarding us with first-level insights, why "positive thinking" fails to overcome our personal struggles, and how our addiction to impact, productivity, and even self-help can keep us from real healing. Kyle also shares how he's learning to let his ego die, how suffering is necessary in order to truly heal, and why connecting with your soul on a deeper level will unlock your biggest breakthroughs to achieve your goals. From the pressure to “get it right” to the constant second-guessing, so many of us carry quiet questions in motherhood: Am I doing enough? Am I messing this up? Am I a good mom? In this episode of Carpool Conversations, Sara and Marissa sit down with author and podcast host Hallie Dye to talk honestly about the weight moms carry—and the freedom found in surrendering that weight to the One who never fails. Hallie shares the heart behind her first book, You're Still a Good Mom: Motherhood Surrendered to the One Who Never Fails, and unpacks what it really means to be “a good mom” from a biblical perspective. Together, they discuss why our limitations are by design, how surrender reshapes the way we approach our roles, and how to navigate the tension between responsibility and trust in God. Whether you're in the thick of diapers and sleepless nights or navigating new challenges with older kids, this conversation is a gentle reminder: your worth was never meant to be measured by your performance. This week, Jake and Bob welcome John Edwards, a fellow guy in the pew, to share his raw and redemptive journey from addiction and secrecy to finding his identity in God. From outward success and hidden cocaine use to the devastating loss of his mother, John reveals how grief, shame, and a longing for affirmation shaped his choices—and nearly destroyed his marriage and family. He opens up about the masks he wore, the lies he believed about God as a harsh judge, and the panic attacks that finally exposed the prison he was living in. With honesty and courage, John recounts the night he chose confession over isolation, and how mercy began to break through years of self-reliance and despair. If you've ever felt abandoned by God or buried under your own failures, this conversation is an invitation to bring your whole story into the light. Key Points: The absence of emotional affirmation from John's father created a deep wound and a longing to feel seen. Addiction to drugs, alcohol, and pornography became a way to numb pain and pursue belonging and control. John describes living behind layers of "masks" to hide his addiction and shame from others. Marriage and fatherhood did not automatically heal John's wounds, and secrecy continued to damage family life. The death of John's mother shattered his emotional security and intensified his anger toward God. Fear of being exposed kept John trapped in lies and prevented him from asking for help. John's arrest and imprisonment brought total loss of control and the collapse of his false identities. In the jail cell, John experienced profound powerlessness and the end of his ability to hide. Surrendering control marked the moment when true freedom began. Jesus met John in his darkest place, revealing that He never abandoned him. Christ goes anywhere to restore broken hearts. For so many women, control isn't about power — it's about feeling safe. We cling to plans, checklists, timelines, and certainty like emotional life rafts. And listen… I get it. I love a good system as much as the next high-functioning human. But here's the truth nobody puts on a vision board: Control is exhausting. Because underneath it all, it's usually rooted in fear. It keeps you disconnected from trust, especially trust in yourself. It can look like stability, but inside your body? Your nervous system is on high alert, quietly bracing for impact. In this episode, I'm talking about what happens when you stop gripping so tightly. Not surrender as giving up, surrender as choosing peace. Letting go as an act of strength. Presence over pressure. Trust over tension. I share why control feels so seductive, how it sneaks in disguised as productivity and "being responsible," and what it actually takes to soften your grip without falling apart. Because surrender isn't weakness. It's where freedom lives. It's where clarity returns. It's where you finally exhale. If you've been holding everything together with white knuckles and good intentions… this one's for you. ✨ Press play. Your nervous system will thank you.
If your goal is to "recover from your eating disorder," what happens when you get there? Then what? Here's the problem: When you set the goal to recover, you're setting a goal with a finish line. But recovery isn't a destination. It's a journey of BECOMING. In this episode, I'm challenging you to shift your focus from what you want to change to who you need to become to achieve freedom. And it starts with understanding your NOW needs. Using Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, I break down why you can't move forward in recovery if your basic needs aren't even being met—and what to do about it RIGHT NOW. In this episode, you'll discover: Why setting a goal to "recover" sabotages your success What recovery will make OF you (not just what it will give you) The problem: You're reinforcing a belief that you can't find freedom Maslow's Hierarchy explained: Basic needs → Psychological needs → Self-fulfillment Why you can't function without basic needs met (food, water, sleep, safety, stability) How the eating disorder hijacks your brain and keeps you from meeting essential needs Why low self-esteem and broken relationships stem from unmet BASIC needs The shift: Stop focusing on what you want to change, start focusing on who you want to BECOME One challenge: Do one thing every day you don't want to do How to validate your feelings, own your needs, and grant yourself permission The truth: No one is going to recover FOR you—you have to do something about it The wake-up call: You decide where your time goes. And if you don't decide, the world will decide for you. MASLOW'S HIERARCHY OF NEEDS & ED RECOVERY The 5-Tier Model: 1. BASIC/SURVIVAL NEEDS (Foundation) Food, water, air, sleep, shelter, clothing, safety, stability, predictability The problem: When your brain has been hijacked by an eating disorder, you're not even getting these basic needs met. Without nourishment, you literally can't function. 2. PSYCHOLOGICAL NEEDS (Built on Basic Needs) Social connections, relationships, self-esteem, confidence, intimate connection, friendships, accomplishments, independence, self-respect The truth: If your basic needs aren't met, your psychological needs WON'T be met. This is why you have low self-esteem. This is why relationships feel broken. 3. SELF-FULFILLMENT NEEDS (Top of Pyramid) Problem-solving, growth, exploration, creativity, purpose, meaning The reality: You can't get here if you're not nourishing your body. Without basic needs met, self-fulfillment is impossible. THE SHIFT: FROM RECOVERING TO BECOMING Stop asking: "How do I recover from this eating disorder?" Start asking: Who do I need to BECOME to gain freedom? What does freedom look like to me? What are my NOW needs? What can I do TODAY to honor where I want to go TOMORROW? The truth: Your past and current distorted identity has created your current reality. It sabotages your success. This false identity creates negative habits that lead to negative outcomes—and reinforces the cycle. The problem isn't that you can't do it. The problem is you're consistently staying in the cycle that reinforces the belief that you CAN'T. YOUR NOW NEEDS: THE CHALLENGE This week, do ONE thing every day that you don't want to do. Then ask yourself: How am I currently meeting my needs today? What needs do I need met RIGHT NOW? Are my BASIC needs even being met? Remember: Without nourishment, you can't even begin to move into love, belonging, self-esteem, or purpose. THE 4 STEPS TO HONOR YOUR NOW NEEDS STEP 1: VALIDATE YOUR FEELINGS & OWN YOUR NEEDS Admit and identify a NOW need: Do I need to eat breakfast earlier? Do I need two more hours of sleep? Do I need to feel safe and protected? How will I create that? Set the goal of WHO you're becoming in the process. STEP 2: GRANT YOURSELF PERMISSION & SET PRIORITIES Give yourself permission to put yourself FIRST. Permission + Priorities = Power We give grace and compassion to everyone else, but struggle to do the same for ourselves. Today, WEAR permission. Rock it out. STEP 3: REFLECT, PRAY, JOURNAL, THINK Don't overthink. Just think. Ask yourself: What are my NOW needs? What do I need to feel satisfied, purposeful, joyful, happy? What do I have to do RIGHT NOW from a basic need standpoint to step into what I ultimately want for my life? STEP 4: DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT No one is going to recover FOR you. No one is going to: Gain the weight for you Sit in your head for you Be at the finish line for you You have to do something different. Because the truth is: You can listen to this show on repeat, but if you don't DO something about it, you're going to sit here stuck. THE TRUTH ABOUT RECOVERY When I actually recovered from my eating disorder, I didn't recognize my old self. I didn't even know who she was. I was fully transformed. Recovery isn't about checking a box. You still wake up. You still look at yourself in the mirror. You're still learning, growing, doing, BECOMING. Change your focus: From what you're trying to achieve → To WHO you need to be to achieve it. KEY QUOTES

What is one thing that you can do today to start your impact on God's Kingdom? In this episode, Jeff and Todd discuss: Surrendering your life to Jesus.Seizing the opportunities God provides.Trusting in God, not the resources of the world.Seeing God's picture as greater than what we can dream.Taking the chance to just start. Key Takeaways: Don't be afraid to live your faith out loud. You never know who is watching and who is being impacted.God is enough. You don't have to know every verse of scripture or have all the answers. He is enough.Don't get so stuck in your own ideas that you stop listening to God's voice.God will expand our footprint as we scatter seeds and trust in Him during times of transition. "I think we overthink transitions sometimes as if God doesn't know what's coming. And in my case, He not only knew, but He confirmed it in a way that brought a lot of peace." — Todd Stewart Episode References: Hope Legacy Collective: https://hopelegacycollective.org/C12: https://www.joinc12.com/ About Todd Stewart: Todd Stewart is first and foremost a follower of Christ, one who seeks to live out kingdom principles and pursue kingdom growth on a daily basis.Beginning as a forklift operator and later becoming CEO of Gulf Winds, he charted an unusual course for the company: faith first, and profit followed. Today on the No Regrets Podcast, Albo Esilaba is joined by Kenny Luck, Lead Pastor of Mariners Church in Trabuco Canyon and Founder and CEO of Every Man Ministries. Kenny shares powerful leadership insights and reflects on the moments that shaped his calling and faith. Kenny talks about how hearing a message from Billy Graham changed the trajectory of his life, leading him to take bold risks to bring the gospel to those who didn't yet know Jesus. Saying "yes" to the adventure of following Christ eventually led him into missions, the marketplace, and continued service within the local church. Along the way, Kenny saw how one transformed man can begin transforming many—ultimately leading to the launch of Every Man Ministries. In this conversation, Kenny unpacks what surrender truly means: being with Jesus to become like Jesus, trusting God enough to "get in the boat," and embracing the mystery of following Christ. He also shares his heart for mentoring, calling out the lies that keep men stuck, and speaking truth into the lives of younger men so they can bear spiritual fruit. Kenny encourages listeners to reflect on where they are placing their trust—are we surrendering to what we see, or to the unseen work of God? This episode is an invitation to continue surrendering to Jesus, again and again. Listen to Kenny's Ultimate Surrender message from the 2026 No Regrets Conference and join the follow-up study on the No Regrets App. Learn more about Kenny and Every Man Ministries at https://www.everymanministries.com

David, the giant-slaying boy who would eventually become king of Israel, is mentioned over 1,000 times in the Bible. The youngest of eight children, David grew to become a powerful king, and some say he was also the original pop star, penning most of the 150 psalms included in the Bible. These songs were the hymnbook for Old Testament Jews, and continue to inspire well-known musical works today, including Leonard Cohen's “Hallelujah.”The 62nd Psalm was written by King David with a goal of reminding himself and others of the Lord's steadfast love. A man of immense power and influence, David wanted to encourage people to continue seeking the Lord and to trust Him with all their endeavors. Psalm 62:5 says, “Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him.”Some scholars see Psalm 62 as a warning: each of us possesses a certain amount of power over our own choices and circumstances, but we should not let our personal authority get in the way of our trust in God. King David had wise and experienced advisors at his side, and he commanded armies that did his bidding at home and abroad. Upon his orders, men could be rewarded or condemned. He certainly wielded a significant amount of power, yet he put his faith and his trust in God. Whether you sit at the helm of a large corporation, you lead a military regiment, or maybe you are the king or queen of your family's castle, let power rest not upon your own shoulders but ultimately with the Lord. Let's pray. Heavenly Father, like King David, we are mere mortals blessed with opportunities, gifted in unique ways, and called to follow you. Let us turn to you with full trust in your plan, and remember the source of all power is you, and not ourselves. In Jesus' name, amen. Change your shirt, and you can change the world! In this episode of the Spirit and Soul podcast, Tiffany shares her personal experiences with anxiety and emotional awareness, emphasizing the importance of self-awareness in navigating feelings. She discusses the concept of the 'messy middle' in manifestation, where individuals often feel overwhelmed by their emotions while transitioning to new phases in life. Tiffany highlights the significance of surrendering to emotions, practicing breathwork, and recognizing the power of creating one's reality. The conversation encourages listeners to embrace their feelings and work through them to achieve personal growth and transformation. Takeaways It's important to share your feelings to help others feel less alone. Self-awareness allows you to recognize and address your emotions. Manifestation involves navigating through the 'messy middle' of change. Surrendering to emotions can lead to healing and clarity. Breathwork helps bring you back to the present moment. Anxiety often creates a false reality that isn't true. You have the power to create your own reality. Recognizing patterns in your emotions can aid in personal growth. It's okay to feel overwhelmed; acknowledge it and move through it. Embrace your feelings as part of your journey towards transformation. Some seasons change you forever. Not because they were easy, but because they forced you to surrender. On this episode of The Vibrant Living Podcast, I welcome back my dear friend April Nowlin for a heartfelt conversation about heartbreak, identity, surrender, and becoming who God is calling you to be. April opens up about walking through multiple divorces, the shame and pain that followed, and the moment she reached rock bottom and finally placed her life fully in God's hands. What emerged from that season was healing, clarity, and a calling she never planned, helping others rebuild healthy relationships from the inside out. Together, April and I explore why so many people lose themselves in relationships, how healing begins with rediscovering who you are now, and why surrender is often the first real step toward freedom. This episode will resonate deeply if you've ever felt• Disappointed with how life turned out• Ashamed of past relationship choices• Afraid to trust again• Unsure who you are becoming in this season• Called to heal before moving forwardIn this episode, we talk about• Healing after divorce and heartbreak• The power of self-discovery and identity• Letting go of labels and old versions of yourself• Why healthy relationships begin within• Surrendering to God when you can't see the outcome• How pain can become purposeApril reminds us that the smile you see today often comes after years of prayer, healing, and courage. This conversation is a gentle invitation to give yourself grace, trust God again, and take the next step even when it feels scary.Connect with AprilWebsite: https://www.aprilnowlin.comInstagram: @TheAprilNowlinFacebook: April N LoveLinkedIn: April NowlinYouTube: April NowlinReady for your next step✨ If this episode met you in a tender place, and you're not meant to walk this season alone. You're invited to join me inside the Vibrant Living Skool community, where faith-filled conversations, encouragement, and spiritual alignment continue beyond the podcast. In this episode of Root Issues we discuss about the problem of the churches that we tend to drift away from the person of Lord Jesus and from what He is doing for us, interceding for us at the right hand of the Father. We discuss about the idea of surrendering into His Hands, so that we can receive the gifts and miracles of the Holy Spirit.
In this episode, Felicia discusses the theme of renewed hope, emphasizing that God's plans remain intact despite life's challenges. She draws from Jeremiah 29:11 to illustrate that hope is not dependent on circumstances but is a confident expectation rooted in faith. Through personal anecdotes, she shares her journey of rediscovering hope amidst disappointment and encourages listeners to trust in God's timing and purpose.TakeawaysGod's plans are not canceled by our circumstances.Hope is a confident expectation, not wishful thinking.Every painful chapter is connected to a greater purpose.God's intent is for our overall well-being.Hope is defined by God's promises, not our past.Renewed hope means daring to dream again.Delay is not denial; it's preparation.Trusting God when you can't trace Him is essential.Your story is still being written; you're not forgotten.Surrendering control leads to true hope.
If you've ever felt like you're always hungry, never satisfied, or like food is running your life instead of the other way around, this episode is for you. In this episode, I discuss the hunger hormone (ghrelin), the satiety hormone (leptin), and show you how to rebalance them in a practical, actionable way.1. Hunger vs. Satiety: Understanding the DifferenceI guide you to notice the small but powerful difference between:Feeling hungry even after eating (ghrelin signaling)Eating but never truly feeling full (leptin signaling)This awareness is the first step to rebalancing your hormones and breaking free from unconscious eating patterns.2. Why Knowledge Alone Isn't EnoughI explain that knowing about nutrition, calories, or meal plans isn't sufficient. Your subconscious mind drives behavior, and that's where old patterns, loops, and triggers live. Change happens when you address what you don't know about yourself, not just what you've read or studied.3. How Cortisol Impacts Food BehaviorCortisol is the master hormone. High cortisol:Drives sugar cravingsTriggers insulin release → fat storageDisrupts ghrelin & leptin signalsInterferes with restful sleepI show how nervous system regulation helps reduce cravings, restore hormonal balance, and end the cycle of emotional and hedonic eating.4. Surrender & Trust in the ProcessI share stories of clients who are super intelligent and educated about nutrition, yet their behaviors didn't change until they stopped saying “I know that”. By allowing themselves to receive guidance in a new way, they uncovered unconscious patterns and transformed their habits — without forcing, restricting, or dieting.5. Why My Approach Is DifferentThis isn't a weight-loss program. My goal is to help you:Understand and regulate your nervous systemAddress unconscious patterns driving overeatingReduce cravings and mindless eatingGain sustainable freedom around foodWeight release may happen naturally as a side effect, but the focus is on behavioral and nervous system change, not calorie counting.Key TakeawaysYour next decision matters more than your last.Knowledge alone can't override unconscious habits — you must address what you don't know.High cortisol drives cravings and fat storage; regulating your nervous system is critical.Surrendering and allowing yourself to receive new perspectives leads to lasting change.Listen to your body over the scale, meal plan, or external metrics.Book your FREE 30-minute Food Freedom Call now and start your journey to lasting change! In this episode I am joined by Igor Vasilevitsky, a counselor, father, and exceptional writer on all things healing, masculinity, and femininity. He works with archetypes to help men and women heal and grow (he has helped me on my own journey). We dive into the benevolent or divine father archetype and unpack why he is so important in our world. The father represents guidance towards what is good and it's very clear how we as a society deeply long for our collective 'dad' to come home to us. Listen in as we dissect the masculine archetypes, demystify the healthy father, discuss power and love, how anyone can learn to father themselves, and so much more.Igor, as a father himself, has created an online community hub for men who are seeking to mature into the healthiest, most benevolent and generative versions of masculinity. Rescued by Surrendering Everything in me believed surrender meant losing. Losing control, losing pride, losing myself. What I didn't understand was that surrender wasn't the end of me — it was the thing that finally pulled me out of the fight I was never going to win. Today on The Daily Trudge, we talk about how surrender doesn't weaken us — it rescues us. Not the dramatic, one-time kind, but the daily surrender of ego, control, and the belief that we can manage life on our own terms. Surrender is where resistance ends and help finally has room to work. This conversation is about the moment we stop negotiating with reality. When we quit trying to outthink recovery, outwork pain, or control outcomes, and instead allow guidance, connection, and humility to do what force never could. Surrender doesn't mean giving up on life. It means giving up the fight that was killing us. For many of us, surrender wasn't failure — it was relief. If you've been exhausted from trying to hold everything together, this is your reminder: sometimes the thing that saves us is letting go. No one trudges alone.
