Money Talks is a series exploring a godly perspective on financial health. For many people, money is one of the biggest sources of stress, anxiety, and uncertainty. A lack of confidence, mounting pressure, and fear about the future leave countless people feeling overwhelmed and stuck. Over the coming weeks, we'll be opening up what the Bible says about money—our mindset, our priorities, and how we steward the resources God has entrusted to us. Scripture reminds us to pay attention to the state of what we've been given, recognising that wealth is temporary, but wisdom lasts. This series is about bringing hope where there's anxiety, clarity where there's confusion, and freedom where poor financial management has created fear. Through biblical teaching, pastoral insight, and prayer, we'll look at contentment, putting God first, wise stewardship, and living a life of unusual generosity—the kind of life that reflects God's heart for each of us. Whether you feel confident with money or completely overwhelmed by it, Money Talks is an invitation to face finances with faith, wisdom, and freedom. To conclude the series Pastor Paul Reid brought a great message on Stewardship. Catch up on 'Make it count' here.
Research years. Professional development time. Career exploration.Whatever you call it, stepping out of clinical residency can feel confusing, intimidating, and oddly hard to plan for. In this episode of Behind the Knife, our BTK Surgical Education Fellows Drs. Elizabeth Maginot, Nicole Petcka, Agnes Premkumar, Kara Button, Emma Burke, and Michelle LaBella sit down with Dr. Daniel Nussbaum, Associate Professor of Surgery at Duke University and leader in the Duke Residency Research Fellowship Program, to unpack dedicated resident profressional development time really looks like, who it helps, who it doesn't, and how to make the most of it if you choose to step out of clinical training.Together, the group tackles:· Why “research years” are often better thought of as professional development time· Whether taking time out of residency is actually necessary for fellowship or an academic career· How to find the right mentor—and why there's rarely a “perfect” project· Practical advice on setting boundaries, saying yes (and no), and managing unstructured time· A clear, resident-level overview of funding options, including:- NIH T32 and F32 grants- NIH Loan Repayment Program (LRP)- Society, foundation, and departmental funding· What faculty and program leadership look for when supporting resident research· Lessons the panel wishes they'd known before starting research timeWhether you're a medical student curious about residency structure, a resident debating whether to step out, or faculty mentoring trainees through career development, this episode offers candid insight, real examples, and reassurance that there's more than one “right” path. High-Yield Takeaway: You don't need research time to be a great surgeon—but if you want to grow skills outside the OR, this may be the rare window to do it thoughtfully (and even enjoy it).Resources & Links Mentioned:NIH Funding & Training Programs· NIH RePORTER – Explore active NIH-funded grants and training programs https://reporter.nih.gov/#/· NIH T32 Institutional Training Grants https://grants.nih.gov/funding/activity-codes/T32· NIH F32 Individual Postdoctoral Fellowshiphttps://grants.nih.gov/funding/activity-codes/F32· NIH Loan Repayment Program (LRP) https://grants.nih.gov/funding/funding-categories/lrp· Foundational & Society Grants(Not a comprehensive list; examples discussed in the episode)· Association of Program Directors in Surgery (APDS) Job Board https://apds.careerwebsite.com/jobs/? · American College of Surgeons (ACS) – Resident research funding https://www.facs.org/for-medical-professionals/professional-growth-and-wellness/scholarships-fellowships-and-awards/resident/resident-research/· Association for Academic Surgery (AAS) – Resident research funding primer https://www.aasurg.org/resident-research-funding-primer/· American Surgical Association (ASA) – Research awards & fellowships https://americansurgical.org/awards_Fellowship.cgi· Society of University Surgeons (SUS) – Resident Research Scholar Awards https://www.susweb.org/resident-scholar-research-awards/? · American Association for the Surgery of Trauma (AAST) – Scholarships & grants https://www.aast.org/professional-development/scholarships.html· Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) – Research grants https://www.sages.org/research/research-grants/ Helpful Application Resources· NIH Biosketch Format & Instructions https://grants.nih.gov/grants-process/write-application/forms-directory/biosketch Sponsor Link: Medical Education master's program at the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education - https://www.gse.upenn.edu/btkPlease visit https://behindtheknife.org to access other high-yield surgical education podcasts, videos and more. What if the way you show up today mattered more than you realise? In this end-of-year reflection episode of the Building Better Humans Project Podcast, Glenn Azar explores a simple but powerful idea: whenever you’re with somebody, it may be the last time you see them again — so make it great. Drawing on lessons from leadership, life, and lived experience, Glenn unpacks why presence is a skill, why we avoid the conversations that matter, and how small moments — handled well — shape who we become. You’ll also hear about a free 2025 End-of-Year Deep Reflection Workbook available now via the show notes, and an invitation to join Glenn’s 2026 Mindset Mentor Mastermind, a 12-month group mentoring program designed for those ready to grow, reflect, and lead better in the year ahead. Are you making your days count? Is triathlon your fuel for life or is life your fuel for triathlon? It's easy to put too much pressure on ourselves with a precise target, but the truth is, going inward and staying the course will take care of most of it. We owe it to ourselves to get the most out of triathlon and life but only have so much bandwidth to always be in "chase mode." Today we look at ways to pull back the external and focus more on making real, internal improvements, which ultimately lead to long term satisfaction and real growth. God designed a recipe for fruitfulness, and most of us are missing key ingredients. If today were your last day, how would you live it? Pastor James Biddle challenges you to stop drifting through life and start living every day with intentional purpose, contagious passion, eternal perspective, and awareness of God's presence. Through the story of Queen Esther and practical daily choices—like adding value to people, serving others, connecting with family, and giving something away—discover how your daily decisions become doorways to your future destiny. Learn why Christianity takes on new meaning when you stop focusing on yourself and start investing in others, understanding that the most important thing to God is souls because souls count. Will the things you're living for today be worth Jesus dying for, and in 50 years, who will remember you not for your charisma, but for how your faith in Christ impacted their life?
Think about it—this isn't a rehearsal. This isn't a trial run. This is your one shot. Every day that passes is a day you'll never get back. The question is: are you living in a way that you'll be proud of when you look back years from now?Making it count doesn't mean you have to be perfect. It doesn't mean every day has to be grand or glamorous. It means you live with intention. It means you don't just go through the motions—you wake up knowing what matters to you and you pursue it, even if it's just one small step at a time.It means saying “yes” to opportunities that stretch you. It means choosing courage over comfort. It means loving fully, forgiving quickly, and giving generously.

Welcome to our podcast today. I am Ronnie Floyd, your host and friend. Before I start this episode, let me introduce you to some important matters. First, next Monday is Memorial Day. Thank you to all families throughout generations who have lost family members in the line of battle, protecting our freedom in America. Thank God for each one of them. Next week, we will not release a podcast due to Memorial Day, a shorter work week, and many of you will be formally beginning your summer. However, I will be back with you, releasing our next podcast on Wednesday, June 4. Don't miss it! Second, pray for me. I will be preaching four Sundays in June. On June 1, I will preach at Cross Church Springdale and Pinnacle Hills. On June 8, Jeana and I will be in Dallas, Texas, attending the Southern Baptist Convention. On June 15, I will preach at Fellowship Church in Greenwood, Missouri, which is located in the greater Kansas City region. Pastor Chris Williams is a great leader and friend, and the Fellowship Church is phenomenal. Then, on June 22, I will preach for my dear friend, Dr. Jeremy Roberts, at the First Baptist Church in Farmington, Arkansas. Then, on June 29-30, I will preach for Pastor Alan Arthur, the pastor of First Baptist Church in San Saba, Texas. He has asked me to speak several times, leading his church in a Prayer Conference. I am so grateful for these opportunities, so please pray for me. Now let's get started with the podcast for this week. Let's go!
Ever feel like life's pulling you in a hundred directions—and none of them are the right one? In this episode, we explore one of the most overlooked spiritual life hacks: intentionality.Join us as we hear a deeply personal and practical message from a missionary-turned-pastor's wife, who shares how a simple phone call before a cross-country move turned into a powerful reminder: relationships, rest, and rhythms matter to God.Rooted in Proverbs 21:5 (“The plans of the diligent lead to profit...”) and Galatians 6:9, this message reminds us that faithfulness, not flashiness, is what bears fruit.
Time is your most precious resource—and summer is slipping up fast. In this episode, Alan Briggs lays out 4 practical, life-giving keys to intentionally plan a summer that actually replenishes you instead of overwhelming you. “If you don't plan your summer, it will plan you.” Whether you're a parent, a leader, or someone just feeling May-Sember chaos, this episode is your summer strategy session. Alan helps you zoom out and get real about what matters most this summer—because this season is short, but the impact can last a lifetime. You'll walk away with a framework and the right questions to: Create Unplanned Space – Ironically, it only happens when you plan for it. Replenish Your Soul – Identify what actually fills you up, not just drains you more. Reconnect Relationally – With friends, family, and the people who matter. Pursue Intentional Growth – Don't sleep on the summer when it comes to personal and professional momentum. Perfect for: Parents prepping for school break Leaders looking for clarity, not chaos Anyone tired of letting another summer “just happen” Questions We'll Help You Answer: When will you make space for nothing? What actually replenishes you? Who do you need to reconnect with? What do you need to learn and who will you learn from?

Send us a textThis episode only happened thanks to the annual TechServe Conference, where I met BridgeView's Managing Partner, Tim Glennie. In this vulnerable, wide-ranging conversation, Tim shares the intentional practices that have shaped his approach to fatherhood. From instituting daily gratitude exercises during school drop-offs to family dinner "highs and lows" discussions, he's created frameworks for meaningful connection with his three children. These seemingly simple rituals have transformed how his family communicates, especially during the challenging teenage years when one-word responses typically dominate. When Tim notices his son offering to help plan family meals instead of complaining about mom's chicken dinners, he recognizes something profound: his parenting is working. Small moments like these reveal character development happening beneath the surface of daily family life.Tim reflects thoughtfully on the contrast between his own latchkey childhood in 1970s New York and today's more protected parenting environment. He describes creative ways he's maintained his father's legacy of curiosity and hands-on learning while adapting these values for a new generation. His garage workshop has become a sacred space where his sons develop problem-solving skills and respect for tools—mirroring experiences from Tim's own childhood. The conversation takes a powerful turn when Tim opens up about his journey to becoming alcohol-free at age 50. After struggling with anxiety since age 17 and recognizing patterns of alcoholism in his family history, Tim made a life-changing decision that has transformed his mental health, physical wellbeing, and family relationships. His willingness to share this struggle offers hope and perspective for listeners facing their own challenges.Beyond the practical parenting strategies, Tim articulates what matters most: raising children with personal responsibility, realistic expectations about life's inevitable struggles, and confidence in their ability to handle whatever comes their way. His authentic approach reminds us that effective parenting isn't about perfection—it's about creating meaningful connections that prepare children for their own journeys ahead. Please don't forget to leave us a review wherever you consume your podcasts! The life you want is on the other side of the work you're not doing. So many times, people love the idea of success but run from the process to get there. Life is not like the movies; you have to put action into what you want to accomplish. So, how do you become successful? What is the key to achieving your goals? The first thing is knowing what you really want. What is success to you? It's not a set destination. For some, it may be simply a happy life with family and friends, a place to call home, and a partner who loves them. For others, it could be owning their own business and making an impact in the lives of the people they employ and help. You get to choose the life you love. The problem is, most people don't do that; they just let life choose for them. It's not an easy road to walk, but it's one that is needed if you want to win. Life is an epic journey where you learn what truly makes you feel alive. There are hardships and pain, for time never stops. But you can live the life you want to live. You just have to trust yourself and believe in what you are doing. Don't settle for what others tell you is possible. Be unreasonable in your quest for greatness. The gifts inside of you are to be shared, not held inside. Does this mean it will be easy? No, it will be hard at times. There will be tears, struggles, and mistakes. But get up and go again and keep going until you reach your goals. Don't become a graveyard of regret. One life, one time, one place where you choose what it is you achieve. Never be the victim because when you do, you give power to whoever you submitted to. Take responsibility and move forward. Test and try so that you can discover your purpose. I promise it will be worth it if you don't give up on you. #podcast #selfhealingrevolution #beyourself #leadership #crypto #successmetrics #successtactics #sales #purpose #applepodcasts

This day (July 4th) is a really personally significant day to my husband Seena and I, because it's the day we got engaged (in 2019) and also the day we lost his dad (in 2021)... and every year I do an episode just reflecting on the DUALITY of life, and the importance of savoring it all. This isn't a SAD conversation, but what I hope will remind you that MEMORIES matter and soaking it all up is what I really think a future version of you hopefully
