Building Confidence Through Evidence
Mormonism is either true or it's not. That's an objective statement. That's thinking that corresponds with reality and facts. A subjective statement would be that Mormonism may be true for you but not for me. That's thinking that does not correspond with reality or facts.
There's no escape from Christians ‘swimming with sharks.' Jesus has sent us out into this spiritually and physically dangerous world “as sheep in the midst of wolves.” Why?
We are answering tough questions from Christian teenagers in this special series. We appreciate the questions and pray the answers will be helpful.
Having been in Christian ministry for more than half a century I've had the opportunity to watch the Church go through a variety of changes. These changes have affected the Church's perspective on truth, worship, and the need for evangelism. It's also impacted the way many church leaders view Christian apologetics (Faith defense). We now seem to be going through another ‘change,' so I'd like to address that with you ever so briefly.
The question we raised at the beginning of this series is whether angels speak to people today. Are those claims real? If real, how can we know that encounters we have are really with angels? If they are angels, how can we know if they are they good angels or bad angels? If we do hear from an angel, how should we respond to what they say?
Even as we acknowledge that the Church is under attack, we also want to emphasize the challenge the Lord Jesus Christ has given to members of His Church.
The Bible speaks of the ‘deep things' of God and Satan. What does that mean?
In the last part of our series, we began looking at the private sayings of Jesus to His disciples as He sent them out with His power to preach the Kingdom of Heaven. We move now to another of the private meetings Jesus had with the Twelve.
Today is Christmas Day. Who or what are you worshipping today? How about people in your community? Gifts? Family? Food? A ‘baby?' Even if we understand that Christmas is about the birth of Jesus of Nazareth two thousand years ago, do we fully understand the depth of why we worship and celebrate His birth?
The Bible contains great wisdom and insight for living for God. It also contains thousands of words of warning. Read it from cover to cover and you'll see what I mean. Keep your eyes and ears tuned to the words of prophets and apostles. God used them to both warn and encourage His people.
We are learning something that every Christian should do -- test the spirits. This is not a game or a passing fad in a Christian's life. It is something God has commanded us to do -- test the spirits.
We are answering a Tough Question that faces many Christian teenagers today. Some of their friends attend churches that teach universal salvation. What we'd like to do in the second part of our answer is look at this part of the question: "If that's true, why did Jesus have to die?"
Here's our next question. "Some of my friends say their church believes God will save everybody in the end no matter what they believe. If that's true, why did Jesus have to die?"
We are currently looking at how to test the spirits in our churches, denominations and other Christian organizations. In the last part of this series we looked at the importance of shining a light on false preachers and teachers. In this part of our series we will look at how to do that: specifically.
This special series is designed to help you and other Christians to be able to identify false preachers and teachers in your church, your denomination, conferences and concerts you attend, and online, radio and television programs you read, hear and watch. As we've been documenting in the series, false preachers are everywhere and into everything Christian.
We are answering tough questions from Christian teens about a variety of subjects. The current topics deal with how God saves people.
In the last part of our series, we saw that God used two prophets to help rebuild the Temple that the Babylonians had destroyed decades earlier. Their names were Zechariah and Haggai. We saw how God blessed Judah with revival through their ministry. What we didn't see in the last part of our series is what they said. We find those words in the Book of Zechariah and the Book of Haggai.
Much of what's written in the Qur'an does not agree with the Bible. How can that be? Which one should we believe to be true? Muslims believe the Qur'an is accurate and the Bible we have was corrupted by early Christians. Christians believe the Bible is accurate and the Qur'an is not. Which one is it?
Many Mormons wonder why Christians don't believe Mormons are also Christians. Should Christians “not criticize” other religions or their adherents? Are they “good Christians” if they don't criticize other religions? My answer is simple –
Let's see what we can learn about revival beginning with the proclamation of King Cyrus of Persia.
The purpose of this new series, A Closer Look, is to address the challenge our Lord has given us to preach the Gospel and make disciples (Matthew 28:18-20). We are looking deeply into the basics of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and how to share it effectively with family, friends and others God leads into our lives. We are looking at the importance of personal evangelism and how to use apologetics as we tell others of the wonderful grace of our mighty God.
In this section of our study, we are looking at the sayings of Jesus to His disciples prior to His crucifixion.
King Nebuchadnezzar took a large group of Jews captive about 597 BC. Ezekiel, a priest, was one of those Jews taken captive. Let's see what we can learn about revival from Ezekiel.
I began a five-month investigation as an atheist in early 1971 to determine three major claims of Christianity. My investigation looked at – (1) Does God exist? (2) Is the Bible a credible ancient historical document? (3) Did Jesus of Nazareth exist, and did He die on a Roman cross and rise from the dead? I became a Christian following my investigation and these became my core beliefs:
