Philosopher Stefan Molyneux explores universal morality, emphasizing the necessity for moral principles to transcend personal and cultural biases. Molyneux contrasts human negotiation through language and reason with the instinctual behaviors of animals, highlighting the unique human capacity for cooperation and moral framework development. He critiques subjective morality, arguing that it leads to chaos and undermines universal standards. He explores the implications of moral relativism, advocating for an objective moral truth to guide human interactions and reduce violence. Molyneux addresses the complexities of violence, asserting that while self-defense is permissible, initiating violence contradicts human morality. Conclusively, he reinforces the idea that discussions around morality must engage with universal truths, inviting further dialogue on the subject.SUBSCRIBE TO ME ON X! https://x.com/StefanMolyneuxFollow me on Youtube! https://www.youtube.com/@freedomain1GET MY NEW BOOK 'PEACEFUL PARENTING', THE INTERACTIVE PEACEFUL PARENTING AI, AND THE FULL AUDIOBOOK!https://peacefulparenting.com/Join the PREMIUM philosophy community on the web for free!Subscribers get 12 HOURS on the "Truth About the French Revolution," multiple interactive multi-lingual philosophy AIs trained on thousands of hours of my material - as well as AIs for Real-Time Relationships, Bitcoin, Peaceful Parenting, and Call-In Shows! You also receive private livestreams, HUNDREDS of exclusive premium shows, early release podcasts, the 22 Part History of Philosophers series and much more!See you soon!https://freedomain.locals.com/support/promo/UPB2025

Senator Nick Schroer outlines his legislative priorities in response to upcoming red flag gun law proposals. He highlights Senate Bill 1055, designed to block federal or municipal red flag databases and safeguard Second Amendment rights, and includes measures like a firearm sales tax holiday and auctions of confiscated guns to support law enforcement. Schroer also discusses extending self-defense protections, shifting the burden to prosecutors to prove unreasonable use of force, citing the Mark and Patricia McCloskey case as a key example. He emphasizes the constitutional foundation of these rights, the importance of due process, and warns of potential Democratic filibusters in the upcoming legislative session.

Riding Shotgun With Charlie #243 Tonya Franklin Back in 2020, Tonya reached out to me. She was very involved with her local politics and wanted to talk about how the news on the "pandemic" was nonsense. She's been in the medical field and may have been helping folks get a medical exemption to the vaccine. She's also a gun instructor who offers NRA and USCCA courses as well as medical courses, which is her background. Growing up in Illinois, I was taking several trips to visit family and friends. On a recent trip, I was able to make plans with Tonya and catch up with her. Firearms weren't really her thing for some time. Her family moved from Florida to Illinois for her husband's career as a pilot. Learning about the FOID (Firearm Owners Identification Card), she thought it was ridiculous. But since there were firearms in the home and it was required by the state, she got it. When you make her do something, she says she's going to do it all the way. So, her new thing was the Second Amendment. She took several courses as a newbie, and noticed she was surrounded by males. Over the years, Tonya took a number of courses to learn all the fundamentals. The first female instructor she had was none other than Jan Morgan. Morgan owns a range in Little Rock, AR. That's when Tonya decided that she was going to be an instructor. In the fall of 2020, Tonya got heavily involved in A Girl & A Gun, the nation's top female firearm group. Her chapter has over 100 women in it. AGAG hosts a conference every year and has chapters all around the United States. Tonya started one in McHenry County, Illinois. The first meeting was at her house and it was packed to the rafters! They also host courses and events at some local ranges and at her home classroom. When concealed carry became a thing in Illinois in 2013, she jumped all in with both feet. She became an instructor through both the NRA and USCCA, as well as a Training Counselor so she could teach the instructors. The permitting course requirements in Land of Lincoln is a whopping 16 hours of class time! Her business, Act Fast Academy, offers several firearms courses, but also medical courses, which is also important for gun folks to take. With a career teaching in the medical field, getting into firearm instruction was a no brainer. During 2020, things were tough in the training business. With the state mandated live fire as part of the training, Tonya started going into her own stash of ammunition to keep the instructing business going. She has noticed a pattern that every four years, there's gun and ammo issues, which just happens to coincide with the presidential election years. Buying ammo can be tricking in states like Massachusetts where they keep track of what you're buying. On the flip side, they're also going to require that people do live fire to get permits. All the training she's taken for herself and her students, getting certified with NRA and USCCA, and going out to competitions has earned her respect. Through her AGAG connections, she's been going to Outdoor Texas Camps to work with young females aged 9-17. She gets to instruct young women in all types of firearms and shooting. The camp has pistol, rifle, shotgun, fishing, archery, mock blood trails, fly fishing, and a whole host of events. With her experience and expertise, she keeps getting invited back. Tonya is very energetic! She's offering courses all the time. Courses from firearms to medical and just about everything in between. She's active with AGAG, NRA, and USCCA. If you're in northern Illinois, southern Wisconsin, or eastern Iowa, you ought to look her up and take a course. Favorite quotes: "If you make me do something, I'm going to do it all the way." "They make you a criminal just over night, with the stroke of a pen." "The firearms world can handle me. I'm going to become an instructor, too." "Women want to shoot. They want other women to shoot with. They want to have fun doing it." Summary In this episode of Armed American Radio, host Mark Walters discusses the significance of shotguns in home defense with Paul Markle, emphasizing the importance of tactical awareness and proper training. They explore the myths surrounding shotguns, the effectiveness of various models, and the necessity of understanding how to use firearms responsibly. The conversation highlights the need for situational awareness in both home and public settings, encouraging listeners to be proactive in their defense strategies. Takeaways The NRA is a significant force in the gun rights movement. Shotguns have historically been a common choice for home defense. Understanding the mechanics of shotguns is crucial for effective use. The goal of using a firearm is to stop an attacker quickly. Myths about shotguns, such as not needing to aim, can be dangerous. Tactical awareness is essential for personal safety. Home defense requires understanding the layout of your home. Training with firearms is necessary for confidence and effectiveness. Situational awareness can prevent dangerous situations. Shotguns should be viewed as power tools for defense. In this episode of the Guns Podcast, host Brent Wheat and co-host Roy Huntington tackle the absurd and often dangerous world of gimmick self-defense weapons. Sparked by a ridiculous advertisement for a "tactical" laser-sighted slingshot, the duo dives into a laundry list of bad ideas, ranging from bows and arrows to flare guns and blowguns. With decades of law enforcement experience between them, they explain exactly why these items should remain toys rather than life-saving tools. However, it's not all about what doesn't work. Brent and Roy pivot to discussing "Plan B" options that actually have merit when a firearm isn't available or appropriate. They explore the practical applications of black powder revolvers, the surprising effectiveness of a sturdy walking cane, and the realities of carrying a knife for defense. They also provide a nuanced look at pepper spray, discussing its tactical advantages and the inevitable reality of cross-contamination. Finally, the conversation covers the concept of the "Use of Force Continuum." The hosts discuss how intermediate tools like expandable batons or pepper spray can de-escalate situations before lethal force becomes necessary. Whether you are looking to validate your skepticism about mall-ninja gear or find a legitimate backup defensive tool, this episode offers a blend of humor and hard-earned street wisdom. Takeaways Slingshots and blowguns are recreational toys, not viable self-defense tools, regardless of laser sights or marketing claims. While bows and crossbows are lethal, they are impractical for self-defense due to size and reload speed compared to modern options. Flare guns are designed for signaling, not stopping threats, and often fail to penetrate or incapacitate effectively. A sturdy walking cane is an excellent "Plan B" defensive tool that is legal to carry almost anywhere, including airplanes. Knives should be considered a last resort; the primary rule of a knife fight is to avoid being in one, as getting cut is almost guaranteed. Pepper spray is a valid intermediate option, but users must be prepared for the reality that they will likely be affected by the spray as well. Understanding the "Use of Force Continuum" allows for options like de-escalation and less-lethal tools before resorting to a firearm. - Have a topic idea or a guest you'd like to see in a future episode? Summary In this episode of Armed American Radio, host Mark Walters discusses the importance of self-defense, particularly in dangerous jobs like working at a convenience store. He highlights a recent incident where a store clerk defended herself with a firearm but was subsequently fired by her employer. The conversation delves into the absurdity of corporate policies that prioritize company rules over employee safety, especially in high-risk environments. The episode also emphasizes the need for awareness and vigilance in everyday situations, encouraging listeners to stay alert and prepared for potential dangers. Takeaways Self-defense is crucial in dangerous jobs. Corporate policies can conflict with employee safety. Awareness is key in everyday situations. Gun policies in retail can be absurd. Voting for the Gundie Awards is important for recognition. Mental fatigue can result from constant vigilance. Complacency can lead to dangerous situations. Public outcry can influence corporate decisions. Employees should have the right to defend themselves. It’s essential to think critically about safety in daily life. #1) Be consistent. That means training two to three classes a week. Your house does not count, coming in and assistant instructing does not count. You should be on the mat training twice a week if your intention is to get a black belt. If not….you can still get an enormous benefit of training once a week, or twice a week every other week, etc…..you just aren't going to earn a black belt until you get serious about your attendance. Just like you can get very knowledgeable about medicine and surgery at the library and attending some classes at college…..but until you commit to medical school and graduate….you will not be a doctor. #2) Train Hard, Train Smart. You can come in and give a halfhearted effort, you can come in and train like every fight is personal…..neither will earn you a black belt. The lukewarm person will not gain the real skills to pass, and definitely not survive the test, the overzealous person will end up hurting themselves or getting too injured to train frequently enough to test, or have the finesse required to become a black belt. #3) Know the Curriculum. We have had many world champions and amazing athletes at the Academy, all of them that received black belts know the curriculum and are able to teach it. You don't have to love all of it, and in fact most gravitate to one of the big four: Fighting, Forms, Self Defense, or Pad Work…but you have to know it all and be able to demonstrate it. #4) Be a Good Ambassador. In some fields your talent can make up for your personality, in martial arts it cannot. You have to be a good role model….not a perfect person, but a person in pursuit of perfection. #5) Be in Shape. You do not have to be an Olympian, D1 athlete or on the cover of Muscle and Fitness….but you should be in good cardiovascular shape, be strong, and have healthy habits. That means making sacrifices outside of the Dojo for your health and fitness and should reflect a life long goal of longevity and good overall health. #6) Be Motivated. You should come to class ready to learn and your passion for training and improving should be evident. Everyone has tough days and we are here to support your through those….but not every day. You are responsible for being passionate about growth, getting better, and being the best version of you! #7) Be Positive. Very similar to number 6, and maybe even more important. “Where attention goes, energy flows.” especially when we are talking about having a positive or negative mindset. What to find the good in your life…start looking for it, what to find the bad…..start looking for it. Find the good in martial arts, and training hard! #8) Be ok with walking alone. Walking with friends is always more fun, it just is. Training with friends is too. Understand however some of your training partners are going to break your heart. Everyone does not make it to black belt, and even some of the ones that do will quit. They are really quitting on themselves….but it feels like they are quitting on you and the Academy. That's difficult to deal with, but it's a part of high level success at anything. Sometimes we have to be ok with walking alone. #9) Bring Someone with you. The antidote for #8! Invite people to train, encourage them to stay, invest in their success and watch your success skyrocket. #10) Have a White Belt Attitude, with a Black belt Brain. White belts are so excited and grateful to train, they give it 100 percent and desperately want to improve…..their only hindrance is the lack of repetition and knowledge. As people increase in rank that fire can diminish. The saddest thing I see is a Green/Brown belt that has gone lukewarm, cynical, or thinks they know everything. Have a white belt mentality, upgraded with the reps and knowledge of a black belt. It truly is the best of both worlds.
As part of our Hidden Killers 2025 Year in Review series, we turn our focus to one of the most bizarre and psychologically chilling trials unfolding in America: Lori Vallow Daybell, the self-proclaimed prophet who's decided she's the best person to defend herself in court. Already convicted in Idaho for the murders of her two youngest children, Tylee Ryan and JJ Vallow, and the conspiracy to murder her husband's former wife, Tammy Daybell, Lori is now facing justice in Arizona for the murder of her fourth husband, Charles Vallow. But this time, there's no defense team to shield her — because Lori fired them. She's representing herself. In this special, Tony Brueski sits down with psychotherapist and author Shavaun Scott to unpack the chilling psychology behind Lori's decision, exploring how delusion, narcissism, and religious grandiosity collide in a courtroom setting. Lori's behavior — confident, defiant, and disturbingly serene — may seem erratic, but Scott explains how it fits a pattern of pathological self-belief common among cult leaders and high-control personalities. During her recent pretrial hearing, Lori insisted on moving forward with trial despite her own forensics expert not being ready, demanded to exclude incriminating statements from her deceased brother Alex Cox, and even tried to subpoena journalist Nate Eaton — the reporter who's covered her saga from day one. She also hinted at testifying in her own defense, setting the stage for one of the most surreal spectacles in recent legal history. But beneath the theatrics lies a darker psychology. Lori isn't just defending herself legally — she's defending her identity as a “divine messenger.” Scott breaks down how shared psychosis (folie à deux) between Lori and her husband Chad Daybell fueled a belief system that justified murder under the guise of prophecy. Together, they turned apocalypse fantasies into fatal decisions. As jury selection looms and Arizona prosecutors prepare to argue their case, Tony and Shavaun explore whether Lori's self-representation is a strategy, a symptom, or both — and how her religious delusions continue to warp her sense of accountability.

On this day before Thanksgiving, Wed. 26 Nov. 2025 our topic is what I wrote about for Orange County Gun Owners/San Diego County Gun Owners blog (now published at Gun Owners Radio blog) 9 April 2020, what I called then "Two Types of Self Defense." One type is against the threat the immoral criminal aggressor -- the training appropriate to that threat might involve self defense training with weapons or martial arts and situational awareness. The second type of self defense, though, is self defense against the criminal justice system that wrongly sides with the immoral criminal against victims trying to defend themselves. Michael Schwartz posted my guest post but you can see my name in the byline as the author. You can read my 9 April 2020 article on Gun Owners Radio blog here : https://gunownersradio.com/two-types-of-self-defense/ Retired Army Ranger Captain Barry D. Todd describes his experience with both types of self defense in his book "Stand Your Ground: One Man's Self-Defense Nightmare." It's available on Barnes and Noble or Amazon or on the Defense Resources Foundation website, DefenseResourcesFoundation.org . The best way to get the book is to visit The foundation he started is dedicated to preventing this kind of victimization of victims by our criminal justice system. There is a link to donate. Enjoy our conversation, buy the book and read it, and enjoy your Thanksgiving 2025. The Republican Professor is a pro-two-types-of-self-defense, pro-standing-your-ground podcast. Watch the YouTube version of this episode HEREAre you a law firm owner looking for advice on improving leadership? In this insightful episode of the Maximum Lawyer Podcast, Tyson interviews lawyer and leadership consultant Noel Bagwell about personal experiences of resilience and rebuilding after major life changes, the importance of trust and communication in business, and his unique subscription-based legal model. Noel shares his insight on the importance of trust in legal practice and in leadership consulting. Both involve building and maintaining relationships with coworkers, counterparts and clients. It is important to be mindful of how you structure your relationships with people and how you navigate conflict. If you can develop trusting relationships, you can be informal with how to do business. But, it is crucial to still create strong, formal contracts with clients to keep things professional. Noel and Tyson chat about how to build confidence in yourself and clients. The first thing in achieving this is to understand your own competence. Think about what you excel in and what your weaknesses are, especially if you struggle with imposter syndrome. You need to rethink your mindset as it relates to yourself and your abilities. If there are areas of your firm that you are not strong in, such as contracts or intake, take some time to figure out a strong path forward to implement that change.Take a listen!2:20 AI, Simulation Theory, and Faith5:56 Leadership Failures and Legal Problems9:50 Strength, Masculinity, and Resilience14:44 Parenting, Self-Defense, and Channeling Energy16:21 Coaching, Focus, and Positive Guidance18:14 Virtue, Competence, and Trust in Law 22:42 Work-Life Fusion and Authenticity 24:37 Preventing Overwhelm and Setting Expectations32:57 Flat Fee vs. Hourly Billing43:35 Competence, Confidence, and Identity 48:12 Layers of Identity and BeliefTune in to today's episode and checkout the full show notes here. Riding Shotgun With Charlie #242 Tom Knighton Bearing Arms, Writer The first time I met Tom Knighton in person was at a Florida Carry event in 2021. But we've done a number of episodes of the Polite Society Podcast, where I was a co-host and he was a guest. Then there were a number of times when we did The Daily Bullet as co-hosts. Tom is a great guy and writes at Bearing Arms. We had a chance to film a show at the NRA Annual Meetings in Atlanta this year. Tom grew up in Georgia and has been around firearms his whole life. Growing up in a city, he's still pretty country. His dad was a police officer who hunted with his own dad. It seems crazy, but he said his first press of the trigger was at four years old with a .38 Special. His dad had his hands over Tom's and all he needed to do was press the trigger. Eventually, his dad bought him a Ruger 10/22 and an Enfield Jungle Carbine in .303 British. Unfortunately, later on it had to be sold. As a young child growing up with his parents and their smart aleck attitudes, it's no wonder where Tom got his snarkiness, which has served him well while writing at Bearing Arms. Then as a Navy corpsman, it didn't really help with his sense of humor, either. Being an anti-authorian, he only lasted four years in the Navy. He was in after the Gulf War but before September 11. He could have gone back in, but he had a 2 month old child and a wife to tend to. During high school, Tom found out he wasn't too bad at writing. His writing impressed both his teacher and classmates. While writing for a "table top role playing" blog, he went to a meet up with local liberty minded folks. He talked with someone and started writing about small local politics. Then a local newspaper got a hold of some articles and ran them there, too. Talking with the editor, he was able to pay Tom for some original content. So he considered writing for a living. The editor ended up moving and selling the paper to Tom. Then he ended up losing the newspaper. After some life tribulations, he started writing for a start up publication. Then another. Both went under. He was able to leverage those gigs into writing for PJ Media. Another friend worked at Red State and he asked if they needed anything. After some conversations, she asked how he was on the Second Amendment. For the first two years, he was writing solo. They talked about hiring an editor and he was a little miffed. But the editor ended up being Cam Edwards. Tom thought that was also a good idea! Like many of us, one of our goals was to be on NRA TV's Cam & Co. but Tom ended up working with Cam instead. A nice consultation prize. For Bearing Arms Tom is cranking out about seven articles a day. Then he's got two for Town Hall. Then his own Substack of general politics gets two articles. And he's doing some videos for his YouTube channel, too. Sometimes people send him tips, leads, and stories. Sometimes it's slow and there's a little rehashing of previous content or reaching out to find stories to write. But the "challenges in the 2A community don't change" or end. Like many others, Tom has a lot going on. Writing for Bearing Arms, for Town Hall Media, and doing his own articles, keeps his schedule full. There are also times when he's running the BA website, too. Plus he's keeping up with family life. Just for funsies, we take a call from Mike Piwowarski from Arms Room Radio. I was supposed to meet some folks, but I was running late. The background is that when I did a show with Mike in Florida a few years ago, he forgot all the great stories he has. So I had to bring up that Tom has stories. And he remembers them. Favorite quotes: "The first time I ever pulled the trigger was on a .38 Special when I was four years old." "God forbid we ever in a situation like that, I'm equipped." "We may not have the same level of training, but you never have enough." "You need to get your basic marksmanship better than the guns." "People like when their commentators pop off at the other side." Riding Shotgun With Charlie #241 Jeff Boren Boren Training Solutions It was by chance that I was able to connect with Jeff Boren. I wanted to do a show in Arkansas and reached out to Ed Monk (RSWC #222). Since I've already had him on the show in Boston, I was looking for someone else. Ed suggested Jeff. I reached out to a complete stranger, asked if he'd be on the show, and he said yes. Although Jeff is in Mississippi I'm glad it worked out. As the saying goes, "I'd rather be lucky than good." Jeff took an interest in firearms at a young age. As a child of the 80's, he loved Die Hard and wanted a Beretta 92 for Christmas. Santa did not bring it. He fired a GLOCK 17 Gen 1 when he was just a teenager. Then he got a job so that he was able to buy some guns for himself. A few years and a couple courses later, he realized that this may be worth pursuing. While his career was a football and baseball coach, he was working towards administration. There were several friends and family that asked him to take them to the range. He figured that if he became a firearm instructor, he would still be able to coach people and help them get into shooting. He found Citizen's Safety Academy in Murfreesboro, TN, and became an NRA certified instructor. Currently, he holds many more certifications, including UCSSA, Tom Givens' Rangemaster "Master" certified instructor, and Armed Response to Active Shooter Events. Jeff has been in the administration side of education after moving out of coaching sports. Spending years as a coach, then being a principal, he's now a district administrator. His job is to be responsible for safety and operations. They do have an armed staff program. He's responsible for teaching the teachers how to handle firearms, shooting, and active shooter situations. "There's more of them (armed schools) out there than people realize, but there's not a lot", Jeff said. Having his hand in administration and firearms training, he's able to instruct those who are willing to step up to be able to protect schools. With programs like FASTER Saves Lives and Ed Monk's Active Shooter Training, there's no reason that some teachers shouldn't be armed. Not every teacher needs to be armed, not every teacher wants to be armed, but they can be educated. Including trauma first aid, which can save the lives of students. In Jeff's program for carrying in schools, there's 64 hours of training. He says it is more about accountability than it is responsibility. Teachers have to be accountable for what happens if they need to use a firearm. It's much more about the mindset than anything else. The Borens are all into shooting. His wife is an instructor, his children enjoy shooting. One drawback is that his wife will know which guns he has and which he's trying to sneak into the safe. However, it is a wonderful thing that everyone enjoys it. Jeff also instructs at Citizen's Safety Academy in Tennessee and Patriots Training Center in Eastabogo, AL, where he is the Director of Training. In Mississippi, it is a "Constitutional Carry" or permitless carry state. However, having the state issued permit has benefits. One is reciprocity. Jeff lives in the north east corner of the state, 20 minutes from Alabama and 5 minutes from Tennessee. It also lets you forgo the background check as the carry permit shows the holder has passed one. Moving to permitless carry has changed what instructors offer their clients. It's no longer the state's mandated curriculum, it's geared towards what citizens really need for training. Along with the permit, someone can carry inside of a school. We had a great conversation. I'm happy to meet more pro-gun people around the country and have them on the show. Jeff teaches in three states. He attends things like TacCon. He's got a full resume and offers lots of training. And he passes it on to everyone who takes courses with him. Favorite quotes: "It (instructing) filled a void, but it's something I'm deeply passionate about." "I got into it for that reason alone because it was fun to shoot." "If it weren't for that, I wouldn't be doing what I'm doing now." "You're not just responsible, you're accountable for what happens."
