MRM's Bill McKeever and Eric Johnson spend this week talking about some of the biggest lies given by the LDS Church–hence, the title “LDS Whoppers.” Let's see which deceptions are most bothersome to us.
Two main topics today thrust upon us by recent events: the sudden ecumenical surge ("Yeah, the differences between Roman Catholics and Evangelicals really aren't definitional at all") and how it is being propagated, together with the furor over "Is Mormonism Christianity?" that has been prompted by Senator Mike Lee's promotion of Mormonism as basic Christianity in the aftermath of the Michigan tragedy. An hour and twenty minutes on topics we have addressed for decades.
Special Guest Host Cale Clarke guides listeners through challenges of parenting, faith differences, and tragic violence targeting religious groups. The focus lands on a listener worried about his son’s friendship with a Mormon peer, exploring parental authority and the importance of honest conversation. Tragedy in Michigan prompts Cale to call for genuine solidarity, encouraging empathy over argument as faith communities reel from loss and uncertainty. Pedro (email) - My son he goes to a public school, and his best friend there is Mormon. Sometimes he goes to the friend's house, but I don't want him to be exposed to Mormonism. (01:51) Cale comments on the Mormon Church that was attacked (19:04) Russell M. Nelson: We All Deserve Dignity and Respect (27:41) Josiah - It is importance for Christians to be peace makers but not conflict avoiders. (40:52)
It's Tuesday, September 30th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Kevin Swanson India's new anti-conversion law leads to 9 harassment cases against Christians India's Northwestern state of Rajasthan issued their Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Bill in the state assembly on September 9th. And now, International Christian Concern reports at least nine documented incidents of harassment and assault on Christians over the last three weeks. Atheist Bill Maher objects to Nigerian genocide against Christians Bill Maher, the well-known comedian and secular humanist commentator, took to his HBO show last Friday to complain about the lack of coverage about Christian persecution in Nigeria. MAHER: “If you don't know what's going on in Nigeria, you are in a bubble. And again, I'm not a Christian, but they are systematically killing the Christians in Nigeria. They've killed over 100,000 since 2009 they've burned 18,000 churches. These are Islamists, Boko Haram. “This is so much more of a genocide attempt than what is going on in Gaza. They are literally attempting to wipe out the Christian population of an entire country. Where are the kids protesting this?” (applause) GUEST: “No one will talk about it. So, thank you.” MAHER: “Absolutely!” Chinese Communists sentence Christian attorney 4 years in prison And, in China, the Communists sentenced a Christian attorney and defender of human rights to four years in prison for the charge of “picking quarrels and provoking trouble,” and “seriously damaging her country's image.” Zhang Zhan has already served four years for the crime of reporting from Wuhan on the COVID-19 pandemic back in February of 2020. Mormon president allowed sexually perverse to remain in good standing The President of the Mormon faith, based in Salt Lake City, Utah, went to meet his Maker, over the weekend. Russell Nelson was 101 years old. Under his watch, the Mormons changed their policies on homosexuality, allowing those living in sexually-perverted relationships and faux-marriages to remain members in good standing. The group also allowed for the Melchizedek blessing to be placed upon children adopted by homosexuals living together. Dr. Nelson is also credited with ridding them of the “Mormon” moniker, while building the internet URL: “churchofjesuschrist.org". Membership in Mormonism expanded from 4.5 million to 17.5 million members since Dr. Nelson joined the top-tier leadership in 1984. That's a 3-fold increase in 40 years. That's about the same growth rate as the Jehovah Witnesses, with the JW's about half the size of the Mormons. In the words of Jesus: “Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore, by their fruits you will know them.” (Matthew 7:19) Ken Ham and Al Mohler honor Voddie Baucham's legacy Ken Ham, from Answers in Genesis, took to social media to say, he was “greatly saddened to hear the news that pastor and theologian Voddie Baucham had gone to be with the Lord.” Ken called Voddie “a powerful voice for truth. a pioneer in challenging men to stand for Christ in leading their families. … No other voice had the impact his did to encourage the current generation to home educate their children—that they would know Christ and make him known. “Voddie called men to lead in family worship daily in their homes. He was a pioneer in bringing young people back into the churches to sit together as a family and witness their dads worship the Lord.” Al Mohler, the president of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, also offered a tribute to Voddie Baucham on The Briefing. Listen. MOHLER: “Voddie Baucham died having done what the Lord called him to do. We're thankful for the power of his ministry and the clarity of his convictions. And it is a reminder to us that we must work, as Jesus said to His disciples, while it is day. Night is coming when no man can work. We'll pray for Voddie Baucham's widow and the entire family.” Plus, Masters Seminary shared a memorial on Facebook stating that “Voddie was a courageous shepherd, a bold defender of the true Gospel, and a beloved friend.” Lord: “Teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.” And, just to remind us all, that this was the year that Phil Robertson, Pastor John MacArthur, Dr. James Dobson, Voddie Baucham, and Charlie Kirk died. Let us remember Moses's words in Psalm 90:12 -- “Teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.” Artificial Intelligence the one bright spot in the economy In economic news today, the second quarter Gross Domestic Product in the United States registered a 3.8% improvement. But that improvement, thus far this year, is attributed to Artificial Intelligence investment and tariffs. All other parts of the economy were down including personal consumption, business investment, housing, government and inventories. While the NASDAQ Index is up 5.7% for the month of September, investors are moving to gold and silver as a safe haven now. Gold is up 10%, silver is up 15%, and Bitcoin is up 2%. Majority of top movies are R-rated Six out of the top seven movies this weekend are R-rated movies — mostly in the horror genre. And five out of six of last weekend's top box office favorites were also R-rated movies. R-rated movies netted four times the G-rated movie totals in 2007. This year, that ratio has increased to 100 times the G-rated movie totals. Neanderthals were fully human And finally, evolutionists are surprised to have found relations between the Neanderthals and the Chinese ancient human group called the Denisovans. A recent report cites interbreeding, according to the genome sequence. Although at one time considered a link in human evolution, now scientists realize that the Neanderthals were fully human. For example, according to the Institute for Creation Research, they “made tools to make other complex tools, buried their dead, had controlled use of fire, practiced religious ceremonies, used complex syntax in their spoken grammar, and played musical instruments.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Tuesday, September 30th, in the year of our Lord 2025. If you've followed our discussion, the discussion with Ed Newby that I'm going to reintroduce in a minute, but we're dealing with things like the influence of evangelical Christians – or Christians per se – Christendom, because of our affinity for conservatism. And we are conservative, especially in comparison to the liberal ideas and views that are out there. But our concern is how influential are entities, whether they be talk show hosts, columnists, whatever they might be, how are they influencing us with regard to their conservative worldview – political? Social? Even moral, in some cases. How are they influencing those who claim to go by the Bible? And what we've seen, many have an affinity for conservative views to the point of making it part of their religious worldview. And that's not good…from our perspective.Today we're going to address more of the same. Last week, if you'll check out part one, we dealt with things like Glenn Beck and his influence as a conservative – not just talk show host but columnist – and his views and how he has intermixed his religious worldviews, whether it be Mormonism, New Age ideas; we talked about his book with the psychiatrist, and how he presents - and folks, you can check us out on this – his book Seven Wonders That Will Change Your Life, coauthored with psychiatrist Keith Ablow, so you not only have psychobabble there, but you have New Age ideas and concepts, and he specifically lays out what his theology is, even though he tries to play to a wider group of people.Today, however – well, first of all my associate in the studio today is Ed Newby. He's a TBC staff member. He handles most of our correspondence, Q&As; he produces our online updates, and again, he's a researcher and contributor to TBC's newsletter. So, again, Ed, welcome back!Ed: Thanks, Tom.
Part 2 Like every movement, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has had a beginning, a period of development, and a time of stability. The LDS Church has typically been separated into three distinctive periods. 1. “Early History” under the leadership of Joseph Smith, Jr. 2. “Pioneering era” under the leadership of Brigham Young. 3. “Modern Era” beginning around the turn of the 20th century The purpose of this second teaching part is to explore this history. To understand the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints today, one must first understand the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as it began and developed. The Church makes great claims for itself and prides itself on outlandish doctrines which run counter to the Word of God. It had a founding prophet who claimed to be visited by God the Father and Jesus Christ His Son, along with a whole host of biblical characters who have long departed from this world – John the Baptist, Peter, James and John. It claims to have restored the fullness of the lost Gospel, even though it was never lost. It has three additional books of authority besides the King James Bible -- The Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants and Pearl of Great Price. This is more sources of extra-biblical revelation than any other cult. Such claims call for a thorough examination, and what better way to begin to do this than to start at the beginning. In this episode, I invited Britton and Carolee Beckham to share how they moved from six-generation Mormon conditioning to a sovereign, heart-led union. Their story begins with a psilocybin journey that shifted how they saw their church, opening a path through grief into clarity and personal truth. We also sit with the courageous healing that followed repeated infidelity—how they chose to face the pain, tell the truth, and keep listening to love.Together, we unpack what sovereignty really means in partnership, why consent is a living practice, and the difference between hierarchy and healthy power in sacred sexuality spaces. The Beckhams explain their commitment to emotional monogamy while allowing playful social containers, and how deep shadow work, embodiment, and honest agreements helped them rebuild safety, desire, and trust from the inside out.We also explore parenting four kids without shame—normalizing bodies, teaching consent early, and fostering open, curious dialogue at home. Now guiding others through Ritual Shadow Work with astrology and lunar cycles, Britton and Carolee offer a grounded blueprint for choosing love, freedom, and integrity—within yourself and in union.Chapters0:00 - Introduction to Our Guests from Colorado2:30 - Realizing the Desire for a Different Path8:34 - Navigating the Exit from Mormonism13:47 - Historical Context of Polygamy in Mormonism18:17 - Sacred Sexuality and Emotional Intelligence24:35 - Exploring Sexual Sovereignty and Polyamory31:57 - Embarking on a Healing Journey32:36 - Understanding Masculine and Feminine Dynamics33:44 - Balancing Sovereignty and Freedom in Relationships42:26 - Union in Polyamory46:17 - Owning Infidelities and Relationship Growth52:01 - Releasing Judgments for Personal Freedom52:28 - Parenting and Conversations About Sexuality56:02 - A Story of Protection and Awareness in Parenting

Picking up at question nine, they explore the topics of honesty, tithing, the Word of Wisdom, divorce obligations, temple covenants, serious sins, and the final worthiness questions.Layne shares from his own experience as a former Mormon how these interviews shaped his view of God and created constant pressure to prove his worthiness. Together, Bryan and Layne contrast that system with the Bible's message of grace—where worthiness is not earned by man but fully given through Christ. You'll hear how:Honesty and integrity matter, but only Jesus was perfectly honest.Tithing becomes a “fire insurance” requirement in Mormonism, but the Bible calls us to joyful generosity. The Word of Wisdom mixes biblical wisdom with added, shifting rules.Temple covenants are heavy and impossible to keep perfectly—yet Jesus kept the law on our behalf.True confession begins with God, not with a bishop or stake president. Our worthiness is found in Christ alone, not in passing a list of man-made questions. This episode helps listeners see the difference between the pressure of man's system and the freedom of Christ's finished work.
In this episode of the NorthWoods Church Matters podcast, missions pastor Ryan Moore is joined by church membes Eli and Kimberly to reflect on their recent mission trip to Salt Lake City, Utah. Together, they dive into why Utah is such a unique and spiritually urgent mission field, and what it's like to share the gospel in a culture dominated by Mormonism. The conversation highlights key theological differences between evangelical Christianity and the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints—while offering practical insights into how to lovingly engage with LDS friends and neighbors. You'll hear what a typical day on the mission trip looked like, from early breakfasts and canvassing neighborhoods with door hangers, to preparing for block parties, supporting two local churches, and even handing out water bottles during Utah's Pioneer Day parade. As the team reflects on their time in Utah, they talk about moments when they felt especially used by God, the importance of approaching every conversation with both truth and love, and how the experience has changed the way they view evangelism at home.

The unexpected passing of Charlie Kirk has become a profound spiritual catalyst for a New Move of God and Church Revival across the globe. In this powerful message, we analyze the spiritual significance of Charlie Kirk's life and death, revealing why he was truly an Ambassador for Christ [06:24] who refused to compromise Biblical Truth for political expediency. This sermon highlights the remarkable account of Kirk's last message in Utah, where he was challenged to defend Christianity vs. Latter-day Saints (Mormonism). Hear how he brilliantly used archaeological evidence and the testimony of the 500 witnesses to defend the Gospel and the reality of Christ's empty tomb [04:33]. This is a timely call to pastors and Christians everywhere to stand for truth [13:06] on current issues and stop catering to "wokeism" and worldly philosophies. Just as Paul confronted the Apostle Peter's compromise (Galatians 2), God is calling the Church to stop being bewitched [44:31] and prepare for a Great Harvest by speaking with moral clarity. Key Sermon Highlights (Great for SEO & Engagement!): The spiritual impact of Charlie Kirk's death: [00:33] The powerful last message in the Mormonism debate: [03:05] Charlie Kirk called an Ambassador for Christ: [06:24] Unexpected defense from Van Jones on CNN: [08:41] Prophetic signs in the death (Earthquake, Acts 7:57, John 12:23): [20:55] Martin Luther's quote on preaching the Gospel to the issues of the day: [33:55] Paul confronting the Apostle Peter's compromise (Galatians 2:11): [36:19] Don't miss Part 1 of this message! The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints released 3 new Gospel Topics Essays in July. We go through each of them, discuss the information that's missing, chat about the propaganda woven into every line, and speculate as to the impetus behind the new essays. For ease of listening, the Book of Mormon Translation starts at 13:31, the Plural Marriage starts at 1:01:24, and Joseph Smith's Character starts at 1:53:15. Stand in Boldness – An Acts 4 Response | KIB 497 Kingdom Intelligence Briefing YouTube Description In this powerful episode of the Kingdom Intelligence Briefing, Dr. Michael and Mary Lou Lake share deep insights on the assassination of Charlie Kirk, its spiritual implications, and what it means for the Body of Christ in these prophetic days. This discussion explores martyrdom in the last days, spiritual strongholds, the role of Leviathan, Jezebel, and Python in twisting truth, and the need for believers to stand in boldness and prayer. The Lakes also draw parallels between Stephen's martyrdom in Acts and today's events, encouraging the remnant to seek God's direction, refuse fear, and be instruments of revival. Key Takeaway: Heaven has drawn a line, and God is standing up. The remnant must respond with prayer, boldness, and unwavering trust in the Lord as we prepare for one of the greatest moves of God in history. It's Monday, September 15th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Syrian Christians facing “accelerated cultural erasure” Radical Muslim jihadis and other extremist groups have carried out brutal mass killings and other human rights violations against Syria's religious minorities, prompting calls from religious freedom advocates for the United States to take action, reports The Christian Post. Dr. Morhaf Ibrahim, president of the Alawites Association of the United States, says the attacks against Syria's Christian, Alawite and Druze communities are not just random acts of violence. "It's a deliberate campaign of terror," Ibrahim declared during a Wednesday press conference AAUS hosted on Capitol Hill to discuss the atrocities committed against Syrian ethno-religious minorities. Since the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime in December 2024, Syria's religious minorities are facing a rapid increase in violence from foreign jihadis, Assad loyalists and militias unleashed by Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa. After the Islamic alliance Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, which is made up of former Islamic State and Al Qaeda fighters, ousted President Bashar al-Assad, religious freedom advocates have feared for the safety of Christians and other minority groups. Sam Brownback, the former United States Ambassador-at-Large for International Religious Freedom, talked about what he thinks needs to happen now. BROWNBACK: “I just know that right now is a critical moment to get the structure of Syrian government correct, where it needs to provide safety for everybody. It needs to be decentralized. “The minority groups need to be able to defend themselves, and you'll be able to have equal citizenship. It's important right now to get the structure, or you will have genocide in the future. It will go poorly.” The Christian back story in Syria is demonstrable, Of the 325 bishops who took part in the First Council of Nicaea in A.D. 325, twenty were from Syria. Suspected assassin of Charlie Kirk in custody The man suspected of murdering conservative influencer Charlie Kirk is now in custody, and has been identified as 22-year-old Utah resident Tyler Robinson, reported LifeSiteNews.com. As police circulated images of the suspected shooter on Thursday, Robinson's father became convinced the killer was his son and confronted him, reports CNN. He asked, “Tyler, is this you? This looks like you.” His son acknowledged that it was him, and when his father urged him to turn himself in, Tyler suggested that he would rather kill himself. But after his father convinced him to talk with a youth pastor, Tyler agreed to be taken into custody around 11:00pm Thursday night. His arrest was first announced by President Donald Trump Friday morning on Fox and Friends. TRUMP: “I think with a high degree of certainty, we have him in custody.” LAWRENCE JONES: “This is going to be a federal case, and there's many of us believe that Charlie was targeted because of his political ideology.” TRUMP: “Yeah.” JONES: “What's going to happen to this guy?” TRUMP: “Well, I hope he's going to be found guilty, I would imagine. And I hope he gets the death penalty. What he did, Charlie Kirk was the finest person. He didn't deserve this.” Genesis 9:6 says, “Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed, for God made man in His own image.” Robinson's hatred of Charlie Kirk A family member of Robinson's told investigators that the suspected shooter “had become more political in recent years,” and in particular had lashed out at Charlie Kirk at a recent family dinner, reports CNN. But, ironically enough, several years ago, in high school, Robinson – like his family – was politically conservative, and supported President Donald Trump ahead of the 2020 election. Robinson attended Utah State University for one semester in 2021. He was a pre-engineering major at the university but took a leave of absence after his first semester. Robinson then enrolled at Dixie Technical College in St. George. He is currently a third-year student in the electrical apprenticeship program, and obtained an apprentice electrician license in 2022. He drifted away from the Mormonism of his parents and became deeply connected to an on-line gaming community. Kirk's alleged assassin lived with transgender partner In a related development, the New York Post reports that Charlie Kirk's alleged assassin, Tyler Robinson, lived with his transgender partner. That individual, who has yet to be publicly identified by the authorities, is now fully cooperating with the FBI. According to public records, Lance Twiggs, age 22, resided at the same address where Robinson lived. A relative of Twiggs confirmed to The Post Saturday that “yes, they were roommates.” Twiggs is a male pretending to be female. They shared an apartment in Saint George, Utah which is approximately four hours away from Utah Valley University in Orem, where Robinson allegedly shot Kirk. Twiggs said he "had no idea" Robinson was allegedly planning to assassinate the Turning Point USA founder. The person is not currently accused of any criminal activity in connection with the assassination. The FBI had text messages and other communications between Robinson and his partner that helped FBI agents zero in on Robinson. Officials said the FBI took evidence from their apartment, including computers, which has been sent to Quantico for review. Kirk was compassionate as he dialogued with a transgender student Charlie Kirk was known for respectfully disagreeing with liberal college students on a wide range of issues, political and religious, including with this 19-year-old woman pretending to be a man. Listen to both Kirk's commitment to the truth and compassion in a conversation which Turning Point posted in May. STUDENT: “I just want to say I'm a transgender male. What age should kids be able to get things, like, hormone therapy? Because I don't know what's true, what's not." KIRK: “Tell me. Are you comfortable telling me your story?” STUDENT: “I've known that since, like, third grade, and I'm currently 19, almost 20. I have known basically since then. I didn't start going by, like, a different name until seventh and eighth grade, I just don't know, like, with the med…, like, the whole medical stuff, like, what's true, what's not, what's helpful. Because I've heard so many different opinions.” KIRK: “First of all, thank you so much for that.” STUDENT: “Of course.” KIRK: “And so I'm gonna have an opinion that very few people will ever tell you, which is, I want you to be very cautious putting drugs into your system in the pursuit of changing your body. I, instead, encourage you to work on what's going on in your brain first. I think what you need first and foremost is just a diagnosis, just someone that is going to listen to what you've gone through, listen to what else is going on. “My prayer for you, and again, very few people will say this, I actually want to see you be comfortable in how you were born." STUDENT: “Yeah.” KIRK: “I know that you might not feel that way, but I think that is something that you can achieve. I think that with the right team and the right people, you don't have to wage war on your body. You can learn to love your body.” People have posted fascinating comments online. One said, “This is what the Left calls hate! His response was pure compassion!” Another said, “He was such a kind and caring man and they murdered him for it.” A third person said, “Charlie … gave caring and respectful advice. Not at all the hateful monster the Left makes him out to be.” And another said, Charlie “WAS on his way to becoming the youngest president ever elected in America. Bill Clinton was 46 in November '92. Charlie Kirk was gonna break that record. This loss will be felt for years!” Indeed, the Turning Point canopied tent proclaimed, “Prove me wrong.” Clearly, since the Left couldn't prove Charlie Kirk wrong, they killed him. Erika Kirk to assassin: “You have no idea what you just have unleashed!” On Friday, from the headquarters of Turning Point USA in Phoenix, Arizona, Erika Kirk, the widow of Charlie, addressed the nation for 17-minutes, just two days after she witnessed her husband assassinated in front of her at Utah Valley University. Listen. ERIKA KIRK: “I want to thank the first responders who struggled heroically, heroically, to save Charles' life, and the police who acted bravely to make sure that there were no other victims on that terrible afternoon. “I want to thank President Trump and his incredible family for the same. Mr. President, my husband loved you, and he knew that you loved him too. He did. Your friendship was amazing.” Erika Kirk had a specific message for those responsible for taking her husband's life. ERIKA KIRK: “The evildoers responsible for my husband's assassination have no idea what they have done. They killed Charlie because he preached a message of patriotism, faith, and of God's merciful love. “They should all know this. If you thought that my husband's mission was powerful before, you have no idea what you just have unleashed across this entire country. You have no idea the fire that you have ignited within this wife. The cries of this widow will echo around the world like a battle cry.” Send a letter of condolence to Erika Kirk, c/o Turning Point USA, 4940 East Beverly Road, Phoenix, Arizona 85044. Plus, you can make a donation to Erika and her two children as well as a donation to Turning Point to continue the fight for a Biblical worldview and American exceptionalism. We have both of them linked in our transcript today at www.TheWorldview.com. Ray Comfort: Charlie Kirk was so courageous And finally, in a CBN podcast, Evangelist Ray Comfort shared his thoughts on the assassination of Christian Charlie Kirk, reports FaithWire.com. COMFORT: “He was so courageous to touch issues that most of us would be afraid to touch, and he did it with such eloquence. I've never heard anyone with a grasp of the English language like he had, and the guy was absolutely brilliant. “And so, I'm very, very sorry that we've lost a general, but I'm optimistic that God's going to raise up soldiers to continue the work and be even more effective.” Deuteronomy 31:6 says, “Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the LORD your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Monday, September 15th, in the year of our Lord 2025. Without it, you cannot enter Mormon temples, where sacred ordinances such as baptisms for the dead, eternal marriages, and endowments are performed. To get one, every member must answer the same 16 “worthiness questions” in interviews with both their local bishop and their stake president.Layne, who held temple recommends for decades before leaving Mormonism, explains what these questions are, what they test, and how they compare with the Bible's teaching about salvation, worthiness, and grace. What Is a Temple Recommend?A temple recommend is a physical card (now often digitized) that allows a Mormon to enter any LDS temple worldwide. It is valid for two years, after which the member must repeat the interview process to renew it.For many Mormons, obtaining a recommend is the pinnacle of religious devotion. From childhood classes to teenage priesthood offices, LDS culture builds anticipation for the temple. Preparation includes six weeks of temple prep classes and then the recommend interview. The interview itself consists of 16 standardized questions. These questions are designed to measure whether someone is “worthy” to enter the temple. But as Layne explains, they often test external performance more than internal faith. What the Questions Really TestThe first few questions sound straightforward:Do you have faith in God the Father, His Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost?Do you have a testimony of the Atonement of Jesus Christ and His role as Savior and Redeemer? At face value, many Christians could answer “yes.” But the problem arises in the definitions. A biblical Christian would describe God as one eternal Being in three persons—the Father, Son, and Spirit. Yet Mormonism defines them as three separate gods. Similarly, Mormons often emphasize Jesus' suffering in Gethsemane rather than His finished work on the cross. The result? The questions aren't just about belief in God or Christ—they're about belief in the LDS version of God and Christ.Other questions reveal more clearly the institutional loyalty expected:Do you have a testimony of the “restoration” of the gospel through Joseph Smith?Do you sustain the current prophet and apostles as seers and revelators?Do you support or promote any teachings contrary to those of the LDS...

When Josh Haskell left Mormonism, he discovered the true God of the Bible was nothing like the one he'd grown up with. Now a Christian educator, Josh reveals how Mormonism uses Christian terms—like “Jesus,” “grace,” and “God”—but redefines them completely. He shares the moment Isaiah 6 shattered his view of God: “The God I worship isn't holy—he's just an exalted man.” From becoming gods to baptisms for the dead, a works-based salvation, and idolizing Joseph Smith, Josh exposes the key differences between Mormonism and true Christianity. His story is both a warning about deceptive theology and a powerful testimony of God's truth. Recently a documentary series entitled "An Inconvenient Faith" appeared on YouTube, produced by Robert Reynolds and Jim Bennett (among others). The documentary seeks to promote progressive Mormonism within LDS church membership. The documentary is groundbreaking in the sense that it includes both Ex-Mormons (e.g. Jeremy Runnells, Sandra Tanner, John Dehlin, Bill Reel) and faithful Mormon scholars (e.g. Richard Bushman, Terryl & Fiona Givens, Patrick Mason). The series has also received a considerable amount of excitement and critique on the Internet. Please join Mormon Stories for a livestream as a panel (John Dehlin, Bishop Beau Oyler, Julie Hanks, and Jana Spangler) react to the documentary.
