Did Joseph Smith believe in the biblical doctrine of inerrancy? And just want does that mean, “inerrancy,” anyway? Bill McKeever and Eric Johnson talk about this issue in this week's broadcasts.
This week Bill McKeever and Eric Johnson speak about a talk given on March 10, 1964 at BYU by Eldred Smith, the patriarch of the church at that time. What he teaches is not much different from what the church teaches today.

On this episode of Mormonish Podcast, Rebecca and Landon are joined by Unoriginal Jim to discuss the important story of The Hill Cumorah and the complete lack of any kind of evidence at that location.Mormonism came forth in an environment where the origin andidentity of indigenous populations was highly questioned. Therewere several books published between the 16th century and the1830s that promoted the idea that Native Americans were eitherseafaring Jews or members of the lost 12 tribes. At the sametime many of the same publications promoted theMoundbuilders myth. The Book of Mormon did not attempt to provide scientific orarchaeological evidence. Joseph Smith presented the Book ofMormon as the proof of Native American history and blendedboth theories. The Hill Cumorah narrative draws from these contemporarytheories and presents them as a historical fact.It is central to the text and to Smith's entire message and theidentity of the church. And it is a falsifiable claim.***How to DONATE to Mormonish Podcast: If you would like to help financially support our podcast, you can DONATE to support Mormonish Podcast here: Mormonish Podcast is a 501(c) (3) https://donorbox.org/mormonish-podcast ****WE HAVE MERCH! **** If you'd like to purchase Mormonish Merch, you can visit our Merch store here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/mormonishmerch We appreciate our Mormonish viewers and listeners so much! Questions from listeners propel Patrick into stories of faith, biblical mysteries, real-time current events, and personal journeys—including the struggles of Catholic converts and the meaning behind apostolic succession and miracles. The episode buzzes with everything from book tips to reflections on faith in everyday life, threaded through Patrick’s straightforward advice and conversation. Audio: Richard Nixon talks about his dad (00:20) Josie (email) - The email you just read about the woman wondering if she should attend a baby shower for her unwed, pregnant daughter, and especially about your answer, surprised me. You told her to go, be an example of pro-life, etc, etc. etc. Why doesn't this same logic apply to attending the weddings of Catholics, usually lapsed, who are not getting married in the church? (02:31) Kris (email) - How it was possible for Moses and Elijah to appear at the Transfiguration if it is understood that it was the death and resurrection of Jesus that freed all the righteous souls? (07:54) Steve - In the 4th chapter of Malachi, who was Elijah and what did he do? (10:59) Audio: Netanyahu addresses the brave people of Iran (19:32) Bill - How did they know it was Elijah and Moses? They had lived hundreds of years before the disciples. (22:21) Gary - Is there a parallel when Moses and Elijah in the Old Testament met God on the mountain and when Jesus meets Moses and Elijah on the mountain in the New Testament? (30:05) Bill - I understand that Jesus authorizes his apostles to forgive sins, but I have a hard time understanding how that ability is passed on to others. (32:01) Mark – 11-years-ago Patrick gave a presentation about Mormonism where he gave false information about the state of women in heaven. (41:34)

What happens when the claims of a 200-year-old American religion collide with the 2,000-year history of Orthodox Christianity? Ben Langlois (Orthodox Luigi) (https://x.com/orthodoxluigi) joins Jeremy Jeremiah and Cloud of Witnesses Radio for a fascinating exploration of Mormon theology and its fundamental differences from historic Christian faith. If you are an LDS believer, please watch this video and confront the challenges it brings. The conversation begins with what Ben Luigi calls "the most devastating argument against Mormonism" – the historical continuity of the church through the ages. If Mormonism's foundational claim about a "Great Apostasy" is true, then what happened to Christianity for 1,800 years? How do we explain Christ's promise that "the gates of hell shall not prevail against my church" and that He would be with His followers "until the end of the age"? Jeremy and Ben dive deep into the theological inconsistencies within modern Mormon apologetics, particularly around their concept of the Godhead. While traditional Mormon teaching holds that God the Father was once a man who achieved divinity (part of an infinite regression of gods), many contemporary Mormon thinkers are adopting positions that sound increasingly like classical theism – creating major internal contradictions. The discussion also examines historical influences on Joseph Smith's theology, including his involvement with Freemasonry just months before introducing temple ceremonies with striking Masonic similarities. Yet perhaps most fascinating are the unexpected bridges between Mormonism and Orthodox Christianity – from language about becoming "like God" (though with crucial distinctions) to concepts around the Father's role within the Trinity. Whether you're a former Mormon seeking answers, a current member with questions, or simply curious about these theological traditions, this conversation offers compassionate clarity on what separates Mormon teaching from historic Christian faith while highlighting pathways toward deeper understanding between these communities. In this episode, we dive into Galatians chapter 2 and uncover a powerful message about freedom in Christ—a freedom threatened by religious rules, even in the early church. Paul recounts his face-to-face confrontation with Peter over hypocrisy, challenges the idea of adding requirements to the gospel, and defends salvation by grace alone. For Latter-day Saints, this chapter raises important questions:Do we need religious leaders to validate our message from God?Are modern commandments—like the Word of Wisdom—spiritually necessary? What does it really mean to be “justified by faith”?

Not only is it Pride month but it's also been almost 10 years since the Mormon church issued their policy against the children of LGBTQIA+ parents. We take a look at the effects that policy had, the increasingly draconian measures the government is taking, and we read between the lines of Mormon church policies. We also look at the measures people are taking to improve the lives of LGBTQIA+. For Media of Great Price, we watched the lovely 2018 movie Rafiki about two lesbian women in Kenya. And we end with good news out of Paris about a new monument. Happy Pride Month! The principal focus of this podcast episode revolves around the contentious issue of whether Christians should financially support organizations that may be deemed heretical through normal commerce. We engage in a profound exploration of the implications of patronizing entities such as Angel Studios, which is affiliated with Mormonism, and how this intersects with the consumption of music produced by groups like Bethel or Hillsong, known for their controversial theological positions. Throughout our discussion, we emphasize the necessity of approaching these matters with discernment and a clear understanding of the potential theological ramifications of our choices. We also reflect on the broader cultural context in which Christians navigate these decisions, considering the challenges of living in a world where nearly all forms of entertainment and media may inadvertently support contrary beliefs. Ultimately, we aim to equip our listeners with a framework for making informed decisions that align with their faith and convictions.Takeaways: The Christian podcast community engages in theological discussions with an emphasis on love and charity, despite differing beliefs. The central topic of the episode revolves around whether Christians should support potentially heretical organizations through commerce. Angel Studios, which is Mormon-affiliated, raises the question of whether Christians should financially support their films and music. There is a tension between enjoying content produced by heretical groups and the potential consequences of endorsing their teachings. Critical thinking is essential when consuming media; discerning the theological implications of songs and movies is important. Music from organizations like Bethel or Hillsong, while popular, may carry problematic theological messages that warrant caution in church settings.

In this kickoff episode of the Galatians Challenge for Mormons, we dive into chapter 1 of Paul's letter to the Galatians—a bold defense of the one true gospel. Paul says even if an angel preaches another message, let him be cursed. Sound familiar? We explore the striking parallels between Paul's warning and Joseph Smith's claims about receiving the “fullness of the gospel” from the angel Moroni. We also examine Paul's background as a Pharisee, how the early church responded to his conversion, and why that response stands in stark contrast to Joseph Smith's rejection of all existing churches. This episode challenges listeners to consider: Are you following the gospel revealed by Jesus—or a different one?
The first episodes of Secret Lives of Mormon Wives are packed with more drama than doctrine — and we're here for all of it. In this video, we dive into the chaos: from passive-aggressive prayers and friendship sabotage, to pregnancy revelations and messy relationship dynamics. We talk about Jen and Zach's struggle to reconnect in their marriage and faith while dealing with a surprise pregnancy, Taylor being blamed for Dakota's bad behavior, and the bizarre addition of Miranda to the group. Oh — and don't forget Whitney's desperate mission to win back her spot in the friend circle. It's Mean Girls meets Mormonism, and it's a wild ride.Grab your popcorn — this is going to be good.
