A prestige investigative podcast uncovering The Mystery No One Asked For. Week by week, film by film, hosts Mackenzie Broadhurst and Micah Cotner are picking up the breadcrumbs, tying the loose ends, and examining every grain in the hourglass that is the Adam Sandler Cinematic Universe.

After a long, unexpected hiatus, the GOS duo is back to discuss 1994's Mixed Nuts, the Steve Martin-starring adaptation of a French film called "Santa Claus is a Stinker". Yes, really. We discuss the sentimentality of holiday films, trying to find a steady plot, and what it really means to be a "Golden Retriever Boy". Adam Sandler may be playing his purest role yet in this early 90s Christmas-turned serial killer thriller, that may very well have been filmed in front of a disappointed laughless studio audience. We've reached double-digits, baby! Listen as the GOS gruesome twosome recount the events of the Kevin James-led Zookeeper. Not *The* Zookeeper, that's a different movie. An ensemble cast voices a slew of zoo animals in what is basically Paul Blart Goes to the Zoo. Adam Sandler plays a monkey in this movie, and he really wants you to know that he has THUMBS. Joe Rogan, the dung beetle of podcasting is also in this film. Unfortunately, he doesn't play a dung beetle. Connections are made to the Eliza Thornberry-esque trend of people communicating with animals in a common tongue, and worlds within worlds are revealed. Also, RIP Don Rickles, and the giraffe that sacrificed its life for this pile of shit Follow us on socials! @grainsofsandler Email us! grainsofsandler@gmail.com Theme music by content. http://itsallcontent.bandcamp.com
Unavoidable bad joke incoming: THIS TIME BABY, WE'RE BULLETPROOF! We watched 1996's Bulletproof. It was....kind of a movie? It began and ended faster than we could remark on babyfaced Sandler's antics. We're in stereo this time to give you the full GOS experience, like you're there in the video call with us! Micah doesn't love the Wayans Bros., Mackenzie found a bunch of DVDs at a thrift store, and...oh yeah, the movie. It isn't good. Did you want a sweet crime drama featuring the Sandman selling drugs and committing murder? Did you want to see a really sexy physical therapy montage? A car chase through the Arizona..forest(?) perhaps? No? Us either. We have fun here. Okay, so we watched 1994's Coneheads. Twice. Technical difficulties plague us yet again, and there's no doubt in our mind that this is the work of the Callahan Institute itself. Special guest Matt Rossi (This is Nothing Podcast, Matty Daddy Vintage) joins us for a conversation that has almost nothing to do with the actual film, Coneheads. Adam Sandler is in it, though! For. One. Scene. A minute and a half of Sandroid exposure is certainly enough for us to speculate on, amongst other topics. Including, but not limited to: "What if Adam Sandler was in a hardcore band, and if so, would that band be BANE?", "Did you have a 'Suit Guy' at your High School?", and most importantly "Why is the Seinfeld universe blending into this film?!". It's no Zohan, but please believe us when we say, we are looking forward to never watching Coneheads (1994) ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever again. Look out for Matt Rossi's podcast, 'This is Nothing', premiering soon on all podcatchers! Did you ever wonder what Edward Scissorhands would be like if Edward was a superhuman pervert? Look no further than 2008's You Don't Mess With the Zohan. We can't sugarcoat it, this is the worst film that we have watched for the podcast to date. Listen as Micah & Mackenzie navigate the wildly offensive, bumpy-roaded attempt at a commentary on the Israel-Palestine conflict as best as they can, while connecting several crucial threads. Does this take place in the same world as Jack & Jill, or outside of the rest of the films entirely? Is our protagonist a Child, a Liar, or a...Zohan? Will Trisha Paytas ever give us her purchased outfits from this film for further study? TUNE IN (but don't watch the movie, for the love of all that is holy please do not watch this movie) Follow us on socials! @grainsofsandler Email us! grainsofsandler@gmail.com Theme music by content. http://itsallcontent.bandcamp.com
We have fully gone off the deep end, and are diving in to the half-billion-dollar-grossing animated film, Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation. No, we have not seen either of the prior Hotel Transylvania films. We speculate on the origins of the (by now) classic characters of the film, discuss movie-universe crossovers. Universal meets Lovecraft meets...Flubber? Yes please. Is this a movie within a movie? Why does Van Helsing look like MODOK? This episode is complete and utter nonsense. Please enjoy. We only have a little bit of time...Someone, or SOMETHING, did not want us to watch the Meyerowitz stories so we... {redacted}
The GOS duo is on their way to the city of lights, baby! Sandy Wexler is the topic of discussion for this week's episode. This is the first film in Sandler's catalog that is based on a "real" person, wow! The celebrity cameos keep rolling, Rob Schneider is still a piece of human garbage, and we dig a bit deeper in to the simulation theory. Are these different sentient androids? Is it Terry Crews or Ted Cruz? Is there a direct correlation to how bad the film is versus how intoxicated the hosts are? All this and more inside! Micah and Mackenzie are joined this week by Ryan Hennessey (Obtuse) to discuss 50 First Dates. This is a film rife with gaslighting, white-reggae songs, and many dates, but not exactly 50. The gang dig in to topics such as the strange things Micah used to get while working at a thrift store, Adam Sandler's apparent ability to communicate with animals a la Eliza Thornberry, and why Rob Schneider is just the absolute worst. We really break in to a solid theory in the second half of the show regarding Dan Akroyd and The Callahan Institute, which share many paralells with the X-Men universe. Did Sean Aston film this at the same time as Lord of The Rings? Did he go from Hobbit to juice-head in a matter of weeks? Listen and find out! **DISCLAIMER** We've had some audio issues on a few episodes coming out soon, this one included. It's fine. We are not professionals. This was a rough one. Micah and Mackenzie swallow the 80-million-dollar pill that is 2011's Jack & Jill. Mackenzie gets progressively more intoxicated as the episode goes on to cope with the trauma of having watched the film. Micah is understandably distraught at Adam Sandler in bad drag. Listen as two mostly-sane individuals attempt to record a podcast that could also just be seen as a list of naming celebrity cameos. Are we in Hell? Are the characters in Hell? What did Ruben Rabasa do to deserve this? Listen and find out. Follow us on socials! @grainsofsandler Email us! grainsofsandler@gmail.com Theme music by content. http://itsallcontent.bandcamp.com
Micah & Mackenzie take on 2002's Punch Drunk Love; a film written and directed by the great Paul Thomas Anderson. As one of Adam Sandler's more critically acclaimed films, this one seemed like an easy ride for the GOS crew, but little did they know that they would encounter extreme rage, product placement, and potential inter-dimensional travel. Is Hawaii significant in the narrative, or does Adam just like to vacation there? Are there eight or twelve plates? Does D&D mean anything? The duo tackles these hard questions and more. Micah and Mackenzie begin their journey in earnest with an extensive analysis of 1996's "Billy Madison". We pick apart jokes that don't hold up in 2021, discuss the history of Oracles, and why we keep seeing the number eight everywhere.
