The line between technological innovation and dehumanization grows increasingly blurred as companies embrace AI solutions that fundamentally alter human interaction. At the forefront of this shift is Otter AI founder Sam Liang, who has developed an AI-powered avatar that attends 90% of his business meetings, complete with voice synthesis mimicking his speech patterns and the ability to make decisions based on his past behaviors. This represents a troubling evolution where leadership presence becomes optional, raising profound questions about authenticity, trust, and what we sacrifice when algorithms replace human connection.Meanwhile, scammers continue finding sophisticated ways to exploit our trust through technology. A particularly alarming trend involves fake banking apps designed to mimic legitimate banking platforms, allowing fraudsters to display convincing "payment successful" screens while walking away with sellers' goods. The face-to-face nature of these scams blends old-fashioned confidence tricks with digital deception, leaving victims thousands of dollars out of pocket with little recourse. The tech landscape continues to be shaped by major corporate competition and legal challenges. Google faces its second antitrust loss in a year as a US judge ruled the company maintains an illegal monopoly in online advertising. Simultaneously, Amazon expands its technological empire across multiple fronts—from entertainment franchises to autonomous vehicles with Zoox robotaxis, to challenging SpaceX's Starlink with its Project Kuiper satellite internet service. These developments highlight the growing consolidation of power among tech giants while raising important questions about innovation, competition, and how technology serves humanity. As AI systems increasingly stand in for human judgment and interaction, we must critically examine whether these advances truly enhance our lives or merely replace authentic connection with algorithmic approximation.Join us as we navigate this complex technological landscape with humor, insight, and a commitment to understanding how these developments affect our daily lives and future prospects.Support the show

What's flying silently through the night sky, bigger than a football field, and shaped like a cosmic Dorito? You guessed it—triangle UAPs (Unidentified Aerial Phenomena), the VIPs of the UFO world. In this episode, we deep-dive into some of the most iconic sightings—from the eerie stillness of the Hudson Valley and the radar-dodging triangles over Belgium, to the mile-wide V drifting over Phoenix and the unforgettable Stephenville shocker. We explore the theories (aliens or top-secret tech?), share jaw-dropping witness accounts, and even a few stories where someone may or may not have yelled at one from a fishing boat. It's weird, it's wild, and it'll have you looking up a lot more often. So buckle up—just not in a black triangle, because we still don't know where those things are going.

Merriam-Webster's Word of the Day for February 19, 2025 is: obtuse ahb-TOOSS adjective Obtuse is a formal word that describes someone who is not able to think clearly or to understand what is obvious or simple. It can also suggest a refusal to see something apparent to others, or a willful ignorance of or insensitivity to the real facts of a situation. Obtuse can also describe something that is difficult to understand because it is unclear or imprecise. // They were too obtuse to take a hint. // The text is poorly written and downright obtuse. See the entry > Examples: “Engineers love complicated problems, but we have a reputation for being obtuse about personal interactions. I often tell my fellow engineers, ‘You won't find any problems more complicated than those involving people.'” — Bill Austin, Inc.com, 15 Jan. 2025 Did you know? There's a lot to understand about obtuse, so we'll get straight to the point. Obtuse comes from a Latin word, obtusus, meaning “dull” or “blunt.” It can describe a geometric angle that is not acute (in other words one that exceeds 90 degrees but is less than 180 degrees), a leaf that is rounded at its free end, or a person who isn't thinking clearly or who otherwise refuses to see something apparent to others—if someone asks you if you're being obtuse about something, they are not paying you a compliment. Another common sense (no pun intended) of obtuse related to apprehension is “hard to comprehend,” often applied to speech or writing that isn't clearly expressed or thought out. This sense may have developed due to the influence of two similar-sounding words: abstruse, a formal word that also means “hard to comprehend,” and obscure, a word that can mean, among other things, “not readily understood or clearly expressed.”
Twisted tendrils, organic growth, and murky jungle scenes all spring to mind while listening to the forthcoming Hypersonic Macrobiomas EP by R-010 on Obtuse Swamp. The Madrid based producer stretches his auditory muscles to showcase a wide range of moods throughout the release that build upon dynamic sound design, half time tempos and deft uses of melody to propel listeners into a whirlwind of feelings. One of two remixers on the release (the other being a fellow Spaniard, Absis) is Berlin native, Toxido Mask. Her take on R-010's ‘Thermoplastic Skins' dives deeper into the abyss, as bass lines swell and stuttery percussion lines pick away - both contributing to a frenetic tension that just needs to be released. Hypersonic Macrobiomas will be out in its entirety on the 19th of December via the Barcelona based imprint, Obtuse Swamp. @r010artist @toxido-mask @obtuseswamp www.instagram.com/toxicmassk/ www.instagram.com/obtuse.swamp/ Write up by @huedj Follow us on social media: @itsdelayed linktr.ee/delayed www.delayed.nyc www.facebook.com/itsdelayed www.instagram.com/_____delayed www.youtube.com/@_____delayed

Featuring: Ammosart, Ashgar, Belghast, Kodra, and Thalen Hey Folks! We are down a handful of folks but continue pushing forward. We start off with talking about a world where Arcades did not die out… aka Japan and what the 2020 Covid crisis did to them. This leads to a discussion about playing DDR and similar rhythm games at home. From there Bel talks about the upcoming update to Last Epoch where they are doing a mid cycle reset and some of the reasons why this is happening. Ammo talks about her experiences returning to Guild Wars 2 and Bel shares his frustrations about how obtuse the achievement system is when it comes to trying to find the major unlocks and legendary crafts. Bel also questions whether or not Twitch Drops work, to which Kodra refutes with his personal experience. Lastly, we talk a bit about Visions of Mana the fifth official game in the Mana Series. Topics Discussed: 2020 and Japanese Arcades Playing DDR At Home Guild Wars 2 Ammo's return to the game Obtuse System Unlocks Do Twitch Drops Work? Visions of Mana

The Liberals are just now realizing that they have been morbidly obtuse about all of the denial, lies, and projecting they have been doing for the last 4 years. How do politicians, diplomats, the media, and even the human rights community keep us politically ignorant, docile, and passive – a collective mindset that prevents us from challenging their power and the status quo they benefit from? The answer is by constantly misrepresenting reality to us and their role in shaping it. It's been previously performed successfully because they have gaslighted us by flaunting the pretense of creating a better world, however, it's an illusion now falling apart. Tonight on Ground Zero (7-10 pm, pacific time), Clyde Lewis talks with political analyst, David Knight about CHEAP FAKE! THE ART OF BEING MORBIDLY OBTUSE. Special is as special does. 100! The Hundo!! Century mark.... There are a plethora of things that can be written and explained, but truth be known, it isn't even necessary. Understand the mission. Respect the code. Follow the sun. Today is so much sweeter when you know you deserve tomorrow. Life is the greatest teacher of all and living is the ultimate experience. Cement one's self in the right foundation and build the best relationships one can from there until whatever end. The formula is surviving at all and any costs. It's the right of the living and the only value worth defining. WPI thanks everyone who's ever listened or watched and/or supported this little idea. Endurance and longevity are obtained by consistent persistency. We will continue as long as perpetually allows. In this episode of We Play It Jon Paul Patton-JP (Special Guest, North County fixture, staple, pilar, and much more but without a doubt The Gawd) , BK (Supa Juice, Chocolate Guava, Kaopectate Slanga, Sunny BeRight, Cloud Mover, Shiny Mudd, and The In Yo' Face Nebula), and Adui Yako (AY The Wise Nose Bandit) get right into the meat of what this episode is and means. The connection of gratitude and the position of truth has channeled their way into a 100th episode that was originally planned and/or thought to be a major spectacle filled with locations and a huge budget and a ceremonious atmosphere of abundant joy and celebratory hijinks, instead created itself into a trifecta of absoluteness, positivity, and a rareness of a brilliant collaboration that may never be seen again. JP was and is the Hundo in THE HUNDO! AY and BK do their usual thing but in reflection mode. They take a few clips from previous episodes and share them and they pick a few tracks from episodes past and deliver those as well. Jon adds in 3 smoove songs from his music mansion collection and shares many angles of insight about himself, his family, his upbringing, and things close to his heart. You can't write the authenticity that is seen in this episode. You can't! It simply just has to be and come together on its own. In a time and a world where there are more lies in the truth and more truth in the lies, we should all thank the stars above for aligning these 3 specimens to triangle around accordingly. Acute, Isosceles, Obtuse, and/or Right We Play It will mathematically keep bouncing, They are just now starting to warm up. Like the Cosmos, stay with us because we are staying with you! I thought it was interesing and it especially piqued my curiousity as I could not ascertain the meaning of it through the context clues of the converstion in wich I heard it. Looking it up I found it meant "annoyingly insensitive or slow to understand: not able to think clearly or to understand what is obvions or simple." In this episode we will look at an example of this from an exchange on the Christianity Now Facebook page. I hope you are edified and informed. The original Pathologic has long been regarded as a cult classic. Obtuse, frustrating, boring and unfriendly, it nonetheless captured people's imaginations with its densely woven storytelling and mystical dialogue. It was a game that came at the art form from a completely different direction from what everyone else was doing, but was ultimately limited by its fairly simple gameplay.Pathologic 2 aimed to solve the gameplay problem. Ice Pick Lodge, with a wagon full of kickstarter money, wanted to refine the spirit of the first game and realise their dream of death and suffering. Combat, looting, infection, trading, potion making, the UI and much much more have all been expanded upon dramatically to give the player too much to do, and not enough time to do it.But did all these radical changes to the gameplay come at the cost of the story? Is only having the Haruspex playthrough instead of all 3 characters still a meaningful experience? Has Pathologic 2 achieved everything that the first game was striving for?Join us on our special 100th episode of Retro Spectives Podcast as we discuss a game that refused to bend to progress, and instead carved its own path through the gaming landscapeOn this episode, we discuss:Story. How has the story of Pathologic 2 changed, and is it for the better? The dialogue is more grounded and the politics de-emphasised in favour of more intimate character moments. Does this make the game more immersive, or has something ephemeral been lost along the way?Gameplay. How does the gameplay of Pathologic 2 actually work? We dig deep to wrap our minds around every part of this game's complex web of systems.Suffering.Is there meaning to be found in humanity's struggles for survival?Or does this game's portrayal of suffering pale in comparison to the agony of looting those same park bins once again? We answer these questions and many more on th1 100th episode of the Retro Spectives Podcast! Trigonometry from Modern Latin trigonometria (Barthelemi Pitiscus, 1595), from Greek trigonon "triangle" from tri- "three"+ gōnia "angle, corner" + metron "a measure." "branch of mathematics that deals with relations between sides and angles of triangles," Geometry - “a measuring of the earth” from combining form of gē (gaia) "earth, land" + -metria "a measuring of" Geometry is, with arithmetic, one of the oldest branches of mathematics. It is concerned with properties of space such as the distance, shape, size, and relative position of figures. Parallel from para- "beside" + allēl "each other." in geometry, of lines, "lying in the same plane but never meeting in either direction." As a noun from 1550s, "a line parallel to another line." Meanings "a comparison made by placing things side by side" and "thing equal to or resembling another in all particulars" are from 1590s. Parallel bars as gymnastics apparatus is recorded from 1868. Perpendicular - "at right angles to the horizon," from per "thoroughly" (see per) + pendere "to hang, cause to hang; weigh" (from PIE root *(s)pen- "to draw, stretch, spin"). Percent - “by/through a hundred” from Modern Latin per centum "by the hundred" Angle - directly from Latin angulus "an angle, a corner," a diminutive form from PIE root *ang-/*ank- "to bend" (source also of Greek ankylos "bent, crooked," Latin ang(u)ere "to compress in a bend, fold, strangle;" Old Church Slavonic aglu "corner;" Lithuanian anka "loop;" Sanskrit ankah "hook, bent," angam "limb;" Old English ancleo "ankle;" Acute - from Latin acutus "sharp, pointed," figuratively "shrill, penetrating; intelligent, cunning," past participle of acuere "to sharpen" (literal and figurative) It was also used of humors (early 15c.). The meaning "ending in a sharp point" is from 1560s; the sense of "sharp or penetrating in intellect" is from 1580s. i.e. acute injury, acute inflammation, acute pancreatitis Obtuse from Latin obtusus "blunted, dull," also used figuratively, past participle of obtundere "to beat against, make dull," from ob "in front of; against" + tundere "to beat," from PIE *(s)tud-e- "to beat, strike, push, thrust," from root *(s)teu- "to push, stick, knock, beat" In geometry, in reference to a plane angle greater than a right angle." Calculus - from Latin calculus "reckoning, account," originally "pebble used as a reckoning counter," diminutive of calx (genitive calcis) "limestone." In medicine, the word also has been used to refer generally to "concretion occurring accidentally in the animal body," such as dental plaque; dental calculus. Sine - from Latin sinus "fold in a garment, bend, curve, bosom." Cosine “with the fold” “with” + “bend, curve” Tangent - "meeting at a point without intersecting," from Latin tangentem (nominative tangens), present participle of tangere "to touch." Addition - "action of adding numbers." from Latin additionem (nominative additio) "an adding to, addition," noun of action from past-participle stem of addere "add to, join, attach" “The action of” + “joining” --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/liam-connerly/support
