Universal Market Access (UMA) was founded by 2 ex Goldman Sachs traders that wanted to make global markets universally accessible through financial smart contracts that used synthetic assets on Ethereum. However, this was taking place long before the massive boom of DeFi summer of 2020. As a result, UMA shifted to building an optimistic oracle to power prediction markets as a decentralised ‘truth machine', thus expanding oracle use cases. Through game theoretic models, UMA managed to properly incentivise its token holders to act as voters, rewarding them for good predictions & disputes, and vice versa. Later on, Hart Lambur also co-founded Across, an intent-based optimistic bridge that set out to create a seamless UX for unifying EVM chains. Through their solver network, Across managed to achieve fast (as low as 2 seconds) and cheap bridging, abstracting away crosschain complexities, without any security tradeoffs.Topics covered in this episode:Hart's backgroundUniversal Market Access, from synthetic assets to oraclesBuilding AcrossUMA's optimistic oracleIncentivizing voters & resolving disputesDealing with invalid outcomesOptimistic security assumptionsUMA x Across dual token interactionsAcross' intent-based bridgePricing mechanism & solver competitionZK settlementBridging fragmentationAbstracting & unifying cross-chain bridgingBridging between rollupsUMA & Across governance systemsEpisode links:Hart Lambur on XAcross Protocol on XUMA Protocol on XSponsors:Gnosis: Gnosis builds decentralized infrastructure for the Ethereum ecosystem, since 2015. Summary In this sermon, Dr. Michael Easley unpacks the challenging theological argument Paul makes in Romans 3:1-8. He begins by exploring the question, “What advantage is there to being a Jew?” Paul acknowledges the Jews' privileged status as recipients of God's oracles, the trustworthy Scriptures, and the covenant people through whom Christ would come. However, Paul also confronts objections regarding human unfaithfulness and God's righteousness. If many Jews are unfaithful, does that mean God is unfaithful? Paul emphatically denies this, asserting that God's faithfulness stands firm even when humans fail. Dr. Easley outlines four key objections Paul addresses: the significance of religion, faithfulness, righteousness, and truth. Some argue that human unrighteousness somehow glorifies God's righteousness, or that sinning more might enhance God's glory. Paul condemns such thinking as blasphemous and dangerous. The heart of the message is that God's righteousness and faithfulness are unchanging, regardless of human failure. Believers today hold the same “oracles of God” in Scripture and in Christ, entrusted with a living Word that calls for faithful response. Dr. Easley challenges listeners to cherish and live out this divine trust faithfully. Takeaways: God entrusted the Jews with His oracles, giving them great religious advantage. Human unfaithfulness never negates God's perfect faithfulness. God's righteousness remains true even when humans are unrighteous. Sinning cannot be justified as a means to glorify God—it is condemned. The gospel reveals the mystery of how God declares sinners righteous in Christ. Believers today are entrusted with the living Word of God, calling for faithful stewardship. To read the book of Romans, click here. Click here for other Michael Easley Sermons.

Proverbs Chapter 9 paints a picture of a feast at Lady wisdom's house. This event involves preparation, invitation, and conversation. Having covered the first two, in our sermon today we address the third. Our text presents a sample of conversation at Lady Wisdom's table. What are topics of consideration, issues of concern, and life lessons we hear when we eavesdrop, or better yet, sit down for a meal at her house? Verses 7-12 tell us. Structural Note: As chapter 9 closes, so does the first major section of Proverbs. These passages are compiled under the heading of Solomon as son of David & king of Israel (1:1) and as such feature themes of generational legacy & equipping. We might call chapters 1-9 “The ‘My Son' Oracles'. Chapters 10-24 follow with a collection of primarily single sentence wisdom sayings or ‘aphorisms' under the title: “The Proverbs of Solomon”. Hezekiah's scribes publish additional proverbs of Solomon in chapters 25-29 the wise sayings of this section are not quite as terse as the 2nd section. The book closes with installments written by 2 other students of wisdom (Agur & king Lemuel) proverbs (30-31). These authors contribute extended applications of that communicable attribute of God equipping the student of wisdom with skills for the art of Godly living.

Personal oracles have been around for as long as people have inhabited this planet. Almost every religion and culture throughout history has embraced its own oracle stories and practices. The ancient Babylonians, for example, looked to the clouds for oracle messages. Called Nephomancy, cloud gazing is one of the oldest and most widely used forms of divination in the world. The Druids used it extensively but called it Neladoracht. Also in the western world were the ancient Greeks, who still retain a reputation for being oracle aficionados. For them, oracles were wellsprings of divination and prophecy available to all citizens, from the common worker to kings, philosophers, and religious leaders. Oracles addressed personal issues, politics, philosophy, religions, law, social mores—no topic was taboo. This understanding of the relationships that bind together natural forces and all forms of life has been fundamental to their ability to live for millennia in spiritual and physical harmony with the land. Valeria interviews Ann Bolinger McQuade — She is the author of “Everyday Oracles: Decoding The Divine Messages That Are All Around Us.” Ann Bolinger-McQuade is a regular contributor to magazines, a popular workshop facilitator and radio talk show guest. Ann shares her curiosity and passion for discovering the hidden obvious and encourages us to tune into the guidance and support that surrounds us all. Bolinger-Mcquade's perspective of the world as alive, nurturing and filled with personal oracles springs naturally from her Native American ancestry. As a child growing up in Kansas she was intrigued with the idea of having Native American ancestors, but never considered her heritage relevant to her life. Her ancestral imprints began to emerge when a series of personal events that were triggered by her breast cancer diagnosis sent her hurling onto what she describes as an invisible moving sidewalk. (Imagine the people carriers in airports.) She believes that at certain times we all land on such a sidewalk, designed to carry us to a specific destination. This particular sidewalk transported her to a place where oracles that were hiding in plain sight seemed to magically appear at precisely the right time. Ann coined the term personal oracles to describe those mysterious messages that guide and often comfort us, and in so doing illuminate an interconnected world that is tuned in and available to us at all times. Ann makes her home in Tucson and Taos with the love of her life --- her husband Kenneth --- and her dog Pandora and a cat named Moon Boy. For the many blessings in her life she gives thanks. Paste Magazine calls Valerie June "casually masterful, deceptively mellow." Her latest album Owls, Omens and Oracles is a celebration of joy and positivity in the face of adversity. June performs live in WNYC's studio five, and will play The Town Hall on May 6.
Valerie June's journey to what we might call ‘cult stardom' hasn't been easy. “I was cleaning houses while playing bars & clubs at night. And I had a vision that I would not make it - my music wouldn't reach its audience through regular means - it would reach its audience through musicians. My friends would help me. I'm a musician's musician”. Working through a talented community of musicians that has included Booker T Jones, Brandi Carlile and none other than Mavis Staples, eventually brought Valerie June together with her own audience. For her new project, June works with Blind Boys of Alabama, Norah Jones, DJ Cavem Moetavation and M Ward, supremo guitarist and producer of new album Owls, Omens and Oracles. I wanted to get her view of her own music, because the music business loves to put artists in lanes, boxes and pigeon holes. How on earth did an eclectic artist like June slip through the cracks? Her music has been described by others as an amalgam of soul, gospel, Appalachian folk, bluegrass, country, spiritual pop, African blues and my own favourite…cosmic rock. How does she describe her music in response to this assessment? With a joyful guffaw and an emphatic reaction: “I'm a singer-songwriter. I follow the songs, whatever they want to be is what I do. I'm kinda like their servant. All those names related to the music - I used to get attached to those and now I don't ”.In Jeff Tweedy's entertaining memoir World Within a Song, the author, singer songwriter and Wilco frontman says: “Taking something old and making it sound modern is nothing new”. And yet obsessing over your references, but melding them into something that is uniquely you is one of the key themes for artists of longevity. Both concepts are critical to June's work.“I do commune with the ancestors. I know I'm standing on the shoulders of many who came before me. I feel them beside me as I'm talking now. I'm not doing this by myself. I wanted to understand my people through music, and I got there through studying the blues”. Most songs come to me as voices. I'll try this instrument and be like “no, not that one…like Goldilocks. I try many different instruments to connect that voice to what it wants. Then, I found a team of people to listen to and understand”. If Valerie June really is the Goldilocks of songcraft, the results are indeed nourishing.Support the showGet more related content at: https://www.songsommelier.com/
In this episode, we get to meet singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer Valerie June. Here, Valerie and I go deep into her brand new record, Owls, Omens, and Oracles, including the themes, production, and writing of these genre-defying songs. We touch on music history, including Appalachian and Delta folk music, as well as the concept of being positive or optimistic in times like these. Valerie spoke with a candid warmth and was a real open book, and I think you'll enjoy this talk if you like any of her work, but also if you just want to listen to a really good talk about life, art, philosophy, history, and the like. Be transported with her like I was. Thank you for listening.

This week, we're continuing our study of Ezekiel with the ‘spine' of the book: the oracles against the nations. We're discussing the purpose that these oracles serve, how to preach through them today, and what these texts tell us about how God's Word relates to unbelievers. Oracles are the center of DeFi. They're not just important, they're *vital*. But with the rise of high-performance blockchains, oracles are having to rethink their entire game plan.In today's episode, we sit down with Marcin and Jakub from RedStone to explore oracles at their breaking point as blockchains get faster and more demanding. This isn't just another Chainlink competitor story, it's about real incidents exposing oracle design complexities. From the Hyperliquid backstop failure to the Polymarket/UMA exploit and Pyth's costly price freeze, we examine how different oracle systems fail. Marcin and Jakub take us behind the scenes, breaking down geographic challenges, data delivery models, and the unique demands of scaling for systems like MegaETH.We also cover why zkTLS won't replace oracles soon, the true costs of Ethereum updates, and what it takes to reliably serve hundreds of blockchains simultaneously. Let's get into it. Oracles v. prophecies? I explain the difference. Also, there's a misconception that God speaks directly to individuals today, I emphasize the Bible is sufficient for moral and spiritual guidance. The Bible serves as today's oracle.
(2 Timothy 3:16) Every Word from God is "God breathed"—it is connected to His very nature and life. Today we learn more about how God gave His Word to man and see the amazing proofs of divine inspiration in the Bible. (0975250326) ----more---- The Inspiration of Scripture Is God perfect? If God is perfect, would everything that comes from God comes out of God? Be perfect. If that's the case, then would you say God's breath? Is perfect. Someone says, that's a strange line of questioning. Not at all, because the Bible says that the word of God literally was breathed out from God. In other words, it came directly from God's very nature. It came from God's heart to us. Here's the verse 2 Timothy 3:16 says, "16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:" Now, we can't believe that the word of God is profitable if we don't believe the word of God is inspired. We use the word inspired fairly loosely today. Writers say, I had a moment of inspiration. Speakers say I felt inspired to say something, but the word inspiration in two Timothy 3:16 is not some some passing surface emotion. No, the word inspiration there literally means God-breathed. It was breathed out from the very nature of God. It came directly from God. To man. Is God's Word Perfect? So I ask again, is God perfect? Oh, yes. God is perfect. If God is perfect, would everything that comes from God be perfect? Yes. Everything that comes directly from God would be perfect, untainted by sin and corruption. If everything that comes out of God is perfect, then would not the very God-breathed words of Scripture be perfect? One of the great struggles that people have is whether the word of God can be trusted to be perfect in every way. My question is this: Does it come from a perfect God? We're going to talk more about how God preserved his word through the ages and God's promise to do that. But let me just say right up front that to question the authority and the accurateness of scripture is to question the very nature of God. In fact, the Bible says that God has set his word above his name. Do you understand? God's name is on the line? Is God powerful enough to preserve his word? Is God wise enough to give his word perfectly the first time? All of this goes to our theology, to what we believe about God. So I read again that all scripture is given by the inspiration of God. Aren't you glad it's been given that God spoke through the Bible writers? So that when they wrote it was without error, without omission, and without exaggeration, we might say it this way. It was the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. Human Penman and the Bible And that doesn't mean that God made men robots. He never does that. He allows men to work with him. What a privilege to be laborers together with God. And such was the case for these Bible writers. The truth was conveyed in such a way that it employed those men. For example, the human penman personal experience comes out. There's no doubt. They're giving firsthand accounts many times. You can see Peter's personality shine through. You can hear Paul's educational background come through their historical accounts and read the gospel according to Luke. And it's very obvious that a medical doctor, a physician, someone with knowledge of the human body and of those types of things is writing a very detailed account. So, the information is given directly from God through men, and he employs and uses those men, their backgrounds, their style of writing. It's wonderful. And before scripture was written down, information, truth, historical accounts, and information handed down through parents were passed along verbally. Words that were passed on from generation to generation. But aren't you glad God wrote it down for us? He wrote it down on the pages of holy scripture. So we're not resting on dreams and visions and experiences. Now, somebody said, I wish we had the truth in black and white. You do have the truth in black and white. God gave us the truth in his holy word. It is literally the voice of God to us. Lemme give you some examples. Acts 28:25 is a beautiful expression the Bible says, "25 And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Ghost by Esaias the prophet unto our fathers," Then who does he say is speaking? The Holy Spirit was speaking. He was speaking through Isaiah, but Isaiah was simply the mouthpiece, if you will. But the word was the very word of God. How about this one? Peter chapter one, verse number 11 says, searching what or what manner of time the spirit of Christ, which was in them did signify when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ and the glory that should follow who was speaking through these prophets, the spirit of Christ. Which was in them. A Peter would use a similar expression in his second letter. In 2 Peter 1:21, read this "21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost." It was God speaking through the man. The truth was always, no matter what the means was, the truth was always given by the inspiration of God. That inspiration extends to the very words, not just the general ideas. God didn't just give us the big idea. He inspired the very words that were given. We believe that he inspired every word, not just some of them. The only thing in your Bible that's not inspired are the chapter and verse divisions. Chapter divisions were inserted by a man named Stephen Langston. Who died in about 1228, and the verse divisions were added in 1551. Now let me just pause and say I appreciate chapter in verse divisions because they ate in our study, but those divisions were not given by inspiration. What was given by the inspiration of God was the very words in the Word of God. Proofs of Scriptural Inspiration There's so many proofs to the inspiration of scripture. There are internal proofs. For example, think of the unity of the Bible. A book written over 1,600 years, by 40 different human penman in different languages on three continents covering 1,600 miles and yet perfect unity, no contradiction. You read its internal claims repeatedly, phrases like, "Thus saith the Lord," "God said," and "The word of the Lord came." Those kind of statements appear more than 2,000 times in the Bible. The word claims to be holy. It claims to be the Oracles of God. Think of how truthful and transparent the scripture is. There's not another book on earth where the author would speak so plainly about the great failings of men that a man, a human pen, when would write down his own sins. They're given by inspiration of God. It's more than the words of men, and there are only internal proofs. There are external proofs. It's powerful. No other book has literally transformed people's lives. I. Somebody said that where the Bible was best known, civilization rose to its highest levels. It's the first book in printing, the first book ever printed. It's the first in literature. No book has ever been translated intoes. It's the first in history, theology, prophecy, biography, and so many language laws. Why is that? Because it is the very word of the living God. The Eternal Truth of the Bible Did you know that the average life of a bestseller is about five years? That's all. And that 75% of all books go to the scrap heap within 90 days. Yet the Bible is still the bestselling book of all time. Why is that? Because truth is timeless. It is the eternal truth of the living God. It was Carlisle who said, no lie can live forever. Friend, the word of God is forever settled in heaven. It is indeed the word of the living God. God still alive and so is his word. And I want to challenge you today to spend some time meditating on God's word and realize that it is not simply the word of David, Paul, or Moses. This is the word of the living God. Ask the God of the word, the author who lives inside of you to use his book to speak to you today. Outro and Resources Repeating what other people have said about the Bible is not enough. We must know the biblical reason behind what we believe. We hope you will visit us at etj.bible to access our Library of Bible teaching resources, including book-by-book studies of Scripture. You'll also find studies to watch, listen to, or read. We are so grateful for those who pray for us, who share the biblical content and for those who invest to help us advance this ministry worldwide. Again, thank you for listening, and we hope you'll join us next time on Enjoying the Journey.
