This week we're watching our fiancée die in increasingly hilarious ways, as we kick off our time-travel theme month SepTIMEber with an early 2000s forgotbuster that's better left in the past. It's 2002's The Time Machine, directed by Simon Wells, written by John Logan, and starring Guy Pearce, Jeremy Irons, Orlando Jones, Mark Addy, Samantha Mumba, Omero Mumba and Sienna Guillory. The story of a man driven mad by loss and the desire to change the past, it's a movie that was directed by H.G. Wells' great-grandson, a somewhat notable name in 90s animation tasked with making what would prove to be his one and only live-action feature. While there are a handful of technically impressive elements on display here, we're not gonna lie: this was a rough watch, a tough start for what we hope will be rip-roaring month of fun for the next three weeks. If you'd like to watch the movie before listening along to our discussion, which this week we absolutely do not recommend, well... good luck, babe! The Time Machine is not streaming anywhere north of the border, and Hayley had to watch it on a weird Chinese pirate video website that undoubtedly loaded her computer with viruses. Other works discussed in this episode include Adam Sandler: Love You, Adam Sandler: 100% Fresh, Don't Mess With The Zohan, The Wedding Singer, Strange Darling, Cuckoo, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Alice in Wonderland (2010), Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Conquest of the Planet of the Apes, Back to the Future 2, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Avengers: Endgame, L.A. Confidential, Memento, Mars Needs Moms, and An American Tail: Fievel Goes West. We'll be back next Friday as SepTIMEber continues with a rare misfire from the late great Richard Donner, as we finally catch up with 2003's Timeline, starring Paul Walker, Frances O'Connor and Gerard Butler. Timeline is not currently streaming in Canada, though perhaps our American listeners will have better luck with that. Until then, we'll see you at the movies!!

This week on Saturday Night Jive we're talking about the 1992 comedy Brain Donors. There are no SNL alum in this film but it was directed by Dennis Dugan who after watching Problem Child, Beverly Hills Ninja, I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry, You Don't Mess With The Zohan, Grown Ups, Jack And Jill, and Grown Ups 2 feels like an honorary member of our family. This is a "remake" of The Marx Brothers film A Night At The Opera (with a little bit of A Day At The Races thrown in) starring John Turturro, the guy who ran the torture machine in The Princess Bride, and some other dude as analogs for Groucho, Chico and Harpo. It's an odd movie with a few decent gags but you're ultimately left with the feeling of "why didn't I just watch a Marx Brothers movie?". If we didn't have enough to talk about with this oddity we also discuss Damien Chazelle's Babylon featuring SNL alum Chloe Fineman in a small role. It's one of our favorite films of 2022 that has an ending that left us both stumped. It's Scott's Birthday week and he picks a movie that is near and dear to both of the boys. Mitch questions his "everything's good in Dolby" philosophy.
We're cheating again on this week's episode of Saturday Night Jive, but do you call it cheating when we hate winning? We watched Disaster Movie from 2008 which features no SNL alums (but does reference SNL related movie You Don't Mess With The Zohan, along with every other movie that came out in 2008). A few years ago we watched Epic Movie featuring Darrell Hammond so we decided (for some dumb reason) to go back to the well of Friedberg and Seltzer for another scoop of fun. This movie sucks, but does it suck worse than Epic Movie? It relentlessly references every movie from 2008 (actually it just references the trailers since the movies they are spoofing weren't released when they were in production) so you get fun goofs on classic films like 10,000 B.C., and The Love Guru, and Jumper, and The Chronicles Of Narnia: Prince Caspian, and Wanted, and the remake of American Gladiators...we also get the big screen debut of Kim Kardashian. Ugh. Enjoy?Full archive of all podcast episodes available at saturdaynightjive.blogspot.comEmail us anything at saturdaynightjivepodcast@gmail.comDownload Here
We continue season four, our season for the fans, with an examination of a film that neither of your co-curators had ever seen that is constantly brought to our attention as a film that must be addressed in our efforts to chart a shared cinematic universe of the films of Adam Sandler: 2008's “You Don't Mess with the Zohan”Will this combination of the comedic sensibilities of Sandler, Smigel, and Apatow directed by Dennis Dugan prove too satirical to hold a place in the universe as we have cultivated it so far? The only way to answer that question is to settle in and listen as Devon and Sejohn willfully ignore the advice of the title and mess with the Zohan. In this episode, Shai and Roderick continue with part 2 of the Hasta La Visa, Baby co-host cultural heritage series. Yes, even Hasta La Visa, Baby has to analyze a very bad movie from time to time. The Immigration concepts they will explore include U.S. employer I-9 obligations and foreign nationals who enter the U.S. without inspection. Plus, our co-hosts contemplate the worst movie they've ever seen.

Did you ever wonder what Edward Scissorhands would be like if Edward was a superhuman pervert? Look no further than 2008's You Don't Mess With the Zohan. Listen as Micah & Mackenzie navigate the wildly offensive, bumpy-roaded attempt at a commentary on the Israel-Palestine conflict as best as they can, while connecting several crucial threads. Does this take place in the same world as Jack & Jill, or outside of the rest of the films entirely? Is our protagonist a Child, a Liar, or a...Zohan? Wife and Husband film fans Natalie and Bobby trawl their gargantuan DVD collection and check out the lowest rated movies they own. Hoping for the silky smooth rather than the Sony guts, they drop kick at the 2.2* rated on Letterboxd You Don't Mess With the Zohan. They discuss global geopolitics, old lady bangin', the Happy Madison ensemble and butt doubles! “Well then, at least it is good time to shave his neck...” Enjoy the pod if not the hummus fuelled production.
The gang discusses the hilarious Adam Sandler movie, while also talking shop about some family moments.
Mike & Trace watched You Don’t Mess With The Zohan as an excuse to have a conversation about haircuts that doesn’t involve protesting. They also talk about some blink 182 song that barely makes any sense, look into the bright side of the unemployment rate, and have a surprisingly sincere conversation about the comedy that inspired them growing up. But hey, that’s just what men do!
The new film this week is the Hugh Jackman & Allison Janney-led dark comedy, BAD EDUCATION. Are we on board with the mostly widespread praise for HBO's latest feature? The latest PICK SIX finds Andy (2002) and Noah (2000) ranking the BEST FILMS FROM OUR HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION YEARS. Lots to dig into for this specific category. For the current THROWBACK CHALLENGE, we have a listener commissioned demand for YOU DON'T MESS WITH THE ZOHAN. We took that demand seriously. Welcome to the Billy Gilmore Podcast, an Adam Sandler appreciation show. On this week's episode, we break down the 2008 comedy YOU DON'T MESS WITH THE ZOHAN. Join us as we go head first into YOU DON'T MESS WITH THE ZOHAN.
It's 2020 and the gals are about to mess with the Zohan! We welcome our first extra special guest of the new year, Emma Pollit!! Join the girls as they try to find out just who is the Zohan?? Why should he not be messed with?? How many hummus jokes before it gets old? And is this the movie that is going to finally solve the Israeli–Palestinian conflict???? Let's endure!!
With Steph gone this week we have podcast vet Bruce Kesselring on as our guest co-host and Samantha Berkman on as our guest to punch up the deeply misogynistic and problematic film You Don't Mess with The Zohan.
Sean introduces our first Pet Film on MTN-Pod rev. 2.0 and Roy, Stef and Henno mess with the Sean but never the Zohan. Thanks for listening!
Is this okay? Lachie and Michael can't tell. But we watched it anyway. There's a whole bunch of stuff in this one. Pretzels, cat hackey sack, orgasmic hair, loads of pubes and America is Satan. I literally don't know what to type right now. This film is an odd one. But enjoy listening regardless Here's the lyrics and chords to Lachie's song if you'd like to play along at home: A D Don't Mess With The Zohan, Don't Mess With The Zohan A D Don't Mess With The Zohan, Don't Mess With The Zohan Bm D He likes Fizzy Bubbleuch and he likes to cut hair. We made it to the big 3-0, and we're celebrating with...wait for it... an Adam Sandler film. Yep, Brad is taking the booth back to 2008 to watch the comedy film You Don't Mess With the Zohan! This is a tale of many tangents! You've been warned. We discuss the writers strike and the rest of Adam Sandler's filmography. We question our own podcasting values, Brad finds deep meaningful plot points and look its another racist endeavour from good ol'trusty Rob Schneider. Podcast for a deep examination into the career and life choices of Adam Sandler. Because this is an episode about 'You Don't Mess with the Zohan,' Patrick and Joe spend the episode reading Amazon reviews about 'Click.' Then discuss the career merits of Jennifer Aniston and try to figure out why Hollywood does not hire Lisa Kudrow anymore? Patrick has to pick between Aniston and Peri Gilpin in a life or death situation. Which one will he pick? Will they ever get to talk about the Zohan movie during this episode? Tune in to find out. Adam takes a shot at parodying James Bond for about half of the film, but then we're just treated to awful writing and a super boring plot. Whatever place you are in your career, I don’t think the struggle lessens. I think it’s just a different set of struggles. Today I’m talking to Emmanuelle Chriqui. You might know her as Sloan on the hit show Entourage, or from the film You Don’t Mess With The Zohan and In The Mix. She also just released her new show Shut Eye on Hulu. Emmanuelle is an amazing human being, and she was willing to get really open and vulnerable on this episode. Listen in as we talk about the emotional ups and downs of being an artist, how she uses meditation in her work, her creative process, and why everyone needs therapy. My joy is on set. Some things we learn in this podcast: Where Emmanuelle’s passion for acting came from [5:25] How she sustained herself in LA [13:00] What you need to get through the ups and downs [15:10] How meditation has helped her [16:10] When Emmanuelle started doing hypnotherapy [18:00] Why the struggle is worth it when she steps on set [22:40] The importance of knowing that there’s enough art for everybody [26:00] What is Emmanuelle’s creative process like [27:35] How she gets in the flow on set [32:50] How Entourage changed her career [35:10] Balancing the career highs and lows [40:05] What are Emmanuelle’s dreams [42:45] How television has changed [44:00] Links mentioned: Watch Entourage Watch Shut Eye Music Credit: Close to You by Lucian (ft. A true Hollywood survivor, Barry Livingston, actor and author is one of the few child stars who turned early success into a lifelong career. As "Ernie" on the 1960s sit-com My Three Sons, Barry became instantly recognizable for his horn-rimmed glasses and goofy charm — America’s prototype Nerd. Picking up steam in the new millennium, Barry also guest starred in Will & Grace, Two and a Half Men, NCIS, Desperate Housewives, & the Emmy winning series, Mad Men. In films, he was in Dickie Roberts, First Daughter, Zodiac and Adam Sandler’s hit: You Don’t Mess With The Zohan.
