"Trump's gotta be careful with all these lies, man. Let me tell you a story Dara, about a little boy named Pinocchio. He was a little wooden puppet who came to life because he was possessed by a demon. And he would go around and he would lie to everyone cos of the devil. And then all the villagers, they put him on a bonfire and they burned his soul to ash. You avoid the relationship by avoiding the person and never getting involved in the first place. You must have eyes to see and be willing to accept the truth for what it is. Brokenness leads to blindiness, which has caused millions of people to end up in relationships with people who are no good for them. There are always signs and red flags that people miss or choose to ignore, only to find themselves in abusive relationships that they're afraid to be in and are afraid to leave! Stop allowing your unhealed hearts and minds to lead you into relationships with people you shouldn't of ever allowed into your life! Watch for the signs and red flags and follow your intuition because when you feel something is wrong, it is! As I always say "love isn't blind, people are." People have gotten used to the cliche, "love is blind" not knowing it's just another one of societies wrong views from people who aren't of mindsets to know better. See beyond your eyes, feelings, wants, emotions, and desires. It just may save your life!Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/relationships-and-relatable-life-chronicles--4126439/support.

James Cameron-Wilson says that #1 Wuthering Heights, written and directed by Saltburn's Emerald Fennell, is not a close adaptation of the novel and has attracted criticism for casting Jacob Elordi alongside Margot Robbie. However, it is thoroughly entertaining, has a great score and production design and is also quite funny. He found it a cinematic delight and feels Fennell is a national treasure. #3 Crime 101 with Chris Hemsworth and a great cast is a rare LA movie actually filmed there. James enjoyed it. Not only is it a good crime thriller, but the characters are very human. On Blu-Ray for the first time is the Oscar-nominated 1974 East German film Jacob the Liar. A darkly comic movie set in a Jewish ghetto in 1944, it is in similar vein to the much later Life Is Beautiful. The disc comes with lots of great extras. Learn more about your ad choices. This week we bounce from haunted literary labyrinths and gonzo chaos in Real Life, into falling space junk, AI hype experiments, and surprisingly clever cows in Future or Now — before wrapping up with Isaac Asimov's Liar! and a discussion about robot ethics, emotional harm, and the danger of well-intentioned lies.   Real Life Steven is deep into House of Leaves, and yeah — "trip" is the correct word. The book continues to be less of a story and more of a psychological maze that actively messes with your sense of reality while you read it. Not a casual bedtime book. More like a "stare at the page and question existence" book. Meanwhile, Ben is reading Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, courtesy of Mom, which is a wildly different flavor of chaos. Where Steven is lost in haunted architecture and footnotes, Ben is cruising through drug-fueled journalism and American absurdity. Balanced intellectual diets all around. Devon, however, is reading… nothing. Which raises several questions. Is he okay? Is he plotting? Has he transcended books? We don't know. We're monitoring the situation. Ben also brought genuine excitement to the table with the upcoming Star Trek: Voyager – Across the Unknown. It's got the theme song. That alone earns emotional bonus points. The real curiosity, though, is whether it leans into branching narrative choices like a Mass Effect-style experience. If it does, that opens up a ton of potential for alternate Voyager storylines, which is basically catnip for any Trek fan.   Future or Now Steven covered a genuinely clever scientific development: researchers are now using earthquake sensors to detect falling space junk. Instead of building entirely new tracking systems, they're piggybacking on instruments already listening to the Earth's vibrations. When debris screams through the atmosphere and creates sonic booms, those sensors can track its path, breakup, and potential impact zones. It's one of those solutions that feels obvious in hindsight but brilliant in execution — and also a reminder that space debris is no longer a purely theoretical problem. http://sciencedaily.com/releases/2026/01/260124003808.htm   Devon brought in a story that feels like it was engineered in a lab to trigger the phrase "AI hype cycle." A writer tested a platform where AI agents supposedly "rent grounded humans" to perform real-world tasks. The result? Almost no legitimate work, lots of promotional nonsense, intrusive automated follow-ups, and a general sense that the entire ecosystem is more marketing than function. It's less "future of labor" and more "future of weird startup experiments." The big takeaway: AI agents still struggle as real-world coordinators when things leave the digital sandbox. https://futurism.com/artificial-intelligence/ai-rent-human https://www.wired.com/story/i-tried-rentahuman-ai-agents-hired-me-to-hype-their-ai-startups/   Ben, in what might be the most unexpectedly wholesome science story of the week, talked about a cow using a tool. Yes, a literal cow. Researchers observed a pet cow using a deck brush to scratch herself, even switching between the bristled end and the stick depending on the body area. That level of flexible tool use challenges the long-standing assumption that livestock lack cognitive complexity. In short: cows might be smarter (and more adaptable) than we've historically given them credit for, which is both fascinating and mildly humbling. https://www.cell.com/current-biology/fulltext/S0960-9822(25)01597-0?_returnURL=https://linkinghub.elsevier.com/retrieve/pii/S0960982225015970?showall%3Dtrue   Book Club For Book Club, we tackled Liar! by Isaac Asimov, and this one sparked a surprisingly philosophical discussion. Herbie the robot doesn't lie out of malice — he lies because of the First Law of Robotics: a robot may not harm a human, and emotional harm counts. So instead of telling painful truths, he tells comforting lies, which ultimately causes even more psychological damage. Classic Asimov move: take a simple rule and stress-test it until it breaks in morally uncomfortable ways. We did agree the human characters feel a bit flat and two-dimensional, but the core sci-fi idea is doing the heavy lifting. The story still holds up because the ethical dilemma is timeless: is a comforting lie more harmful than a painful truth? Especially when the lie is delivered by something programmed to protect you? YouTube link: https://youtu.be/jDXW9hEjxps  Next week, we're heading into a tonal shift with a watch and review of Predator: Badlands, which should move us from philosophical robots and lying logic loops straight into survival, spectacle, and probably some very questionable life choices by characters who ignore obvious danger signs. Should be fun.   If you enjoyed this episode, make sure to follow the show, share it with a friend who loves sci-fi and strange tech stories, and join our community for bonus content, playlists, AI images, and unedited episodes over on Patreon. You can also hop into the Discord to talk books, space news, and questionable future technology with us. And don't forget to tune in next week for our review of Predator: Badlands — because nothing says thoughtful sci-fi discussion like immediately pivoting into survival horror chaos.

When an Australian thrash band that never broke big in the U.S. gets compared to early Metallica, Slayer, and Maiden in the same breath, you know you've stumbled onto something special. This episode dives into Mortal Sin's 1986 debut Mayhemic Destruction—a ferocious, drum‑heavy, DIY thrash record from Sydney that plays like a missing puzzle piece in 80s metal history.Across the conversation, the hosts unpack how Mortal Sin emerged out of Australia's pub‑rock and Buffalo‑style heavy scene into a faster, more aggressive sound after drummer Wayne Campbell discovered Metallica through tape‑trading in 1984. They trace the band's rapid rise from self‑funded studio upstarts to landing a global deal, touring with Metallica, Megadeth, and Testament, and struggling with that classic “too big for pubs, too small for arenas” problem back home. Along the way, they dig into the band's revolving‑door lineup, eerie mystery around the original drummer's disappearance, and the evolution of Mortal Sin's sound across later records.Musically, the episode zeroes in on what makes Mayhemic Destruction such a compelling outlier in 80s thrash. The drums and low end dominate the mix in a way that completely inverts the American template, forcing listeners to dig for the guitars and exposing a strange, rewarding hybrid of thrash, New Wave of British Heavy Metal, power metal, Motörhead grit, and proto‑death‑metal experiments on the title track. There's plenty of love for the riffs, time‑changes, and dark modal choices in songs like “The Curse” and “Lebanon,” but also honest criticism of the limited, Hetfield‑ish vocal approach and the odd sequencing choices that bury some of the strongest material in the back half.If you're into 80s thrash metal, early Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, Testament, NWOBHM, or obscure Australian metal bands that never quite got their due, this deep dive into Mortal Sin and Mayhemic Destruction is absolutely in your wheelhouse. It's a conversation about more than one album—it's about how geography, timing, and weird production decisions can turn a record into a cult artifact waiting to be rediscovered.Episode Highlights0:00 – Mayhem from Sydney – Setting up Mortal Sin, Mayhemic Destruction, and why this Australian thrash debut matters in the 80s metal landscape.5:05 – Battle jackets and logos – Gavin's origin story with Mortal Sin via patches, Kerrang! mags, and why some bands lived as imagery long before you ever heard a note.7:00 – Band history and lineup chaos – From Sydney origins and early rehearsals with Lino to global deals, tours with Metallica and Megadeth, and constant guitar player turnover.12:05 – DIY Mega Metal and Hetfield's stamp – Recording at 301 Studios, self‑releasing the album, mailing it out like a zine, and landing James Hetfield's 1986 endorsement.17:20 – “The Curse” – How the opening riffing, harmonics, and dissonant second‑guitar lines signal that Mortal Sin aren't just copying Bay Area thrash.22:30 – Drum mix from another planet – Why the massive, low‑end‑heavy drum sound flips the usual thrash hierarchy and changes how you hear the riffs and groove.24:50 – “Lebanon” – Dark, almost Slayer‑like scales, Dokken/Mr. Scary vibes, and how this track becomes a standout for mood and melody.25:30 – Thrash without a ballad – The near‑total absence of slow songs, the fake‑out intro of “Liar,” and what that says about the band's commitment to speed and aggression.30:15 – Honest strengths and weak spots – Praise for the riffs and rhythm section, plus a candid look at the limited vocals, buried mixes, and backward‑feeling sequencing.35:25 – Album art, demons, and Sydney in ruins – The Dungeons & Dragons‑style cover, nuked‑city imagery, and why this screamed “Tipper Gore nightmare” in the 80s.35:30 – “Mayhemic Destruction” (title track) – Proto‑death‑metal vocals and blast beats a year before Death's Scream Bloody Gore, and why burying it as the closer was a smart move.40:30 – Live vs. studio – What the 20th anniversary live tracks reveal about the band's true sound compared to the unique, drum‑heavy studio mix.[45:00 – Final verdict – Is Mayhemic Destruction a worthy album, a decent single, or a lost cult gem in the Australian thrash canon?Love uncovering 80s metal obscurities and lost thrash gems? Identify one "well" you've been turning to for comfort or security that isn't Jesus, and consciously choose to take that need to Him in prayer first. Hosts: Neil Gregory, Lydia Florence, and Connor Hall. What We Discuss C.S. Lewis' famous "Liar, Lunatic, or Lord" quote and why Jesus doesn't leave room for neutrality. The primary ways we "drink" living water through the Bible, prayer, and community. How to find your true priorities by looking at your time, memories, and money. The danger of looking for "quick fixes" in faith versus building a long-term relationship. A practical illustration of how Jesus changes our "palate" for sin. The exegetical distinction between feeling thirst and being thirsty in a state of spiritual dryness. Why the Woman at the Well serves as the first evangelist despite her social status. Overcoming "main character disease" to see your testimony as a story about God's faithfulness. Have a comment or question? Click this sentence to send us a message, and we might answer it in a future episode.Welcome to Season 6, Episode 4 of Winning Isn't Easy. In this episode, we'll dive into Vocational Evaluators and ERISA Disability: How Your Skills and Residual Functional Capacity Shape Your Claim.Understanding how vocational evaluators fit into the ERISA disability process can be the difference between securing the Long-Term Disability benefits you paid for and having your claim unfairly denied. Disability carriers rely heavily on vocational experts, and their assessments often shape claim outcomes - sometimes in ways that don't accurately reflect a claimant's true functional abilities. Insurers don't rely on medical records alone. They analyze residual functional capacity, past job duties, and whether your skills could transfer to other work. If your work history, limitations, or skills aren't clearly documented, or if your occupation is misclassified, your claim can be delayed, reduced, or denied altogether. Vocational evaluations are especially decisive during the “own occupation” and “any occupation” phases of a claim. Small assumptions or errors in a VE report can have outsized consequences, making it critical to understand how these evaluations work and how they can be challenged. In this episode, we break the process down into three parts: what ERISA claimants need to know about vocational experts and transferable skills, why challenging the carrier's VE is often essential, and how competing vocational opinions can protect your benefits. By the end, you'll understand why winning an ERISA disability claim isn't just about diagnosis - it's about clearly presenting your functional limits and holding insurers' experts accountable. In this episode, we'll cover the following topics:One - What Every ERISA Policy or Plan Holder Must Know About the Role of a Vocational Expert in Their Disability Insurance ClaimTwo - Why You Must Have an Experienced ERISA Disability Attorney Attack the Opinion of the Carrier's “Liar-for-Hire” Vocational Evaluator in Your AppealThree - The Hidden Battle of Experts - Your Vocational Evaluator vs. TheirsWhether you're a claimant, or simply seeking valuable insights into the disability claims landscape, this episode provides essential guidance to help you succeed in your journey. The South Carolina Supreme Court hears Alex Murdaugh's appeal February 11, 2026. The ground has shifted — because the woman who oversaw his jury just admitted to lying under oath about her conduct during the trial.Becky Hill, former Colleton County Clerk of Court, pleaded guilty in December 2025 to obstruction of justice, perjury, and two counts of misconduct. The perjury conviction stems from false testimony at a January 2024 hearing before retired Chief Justice Jean Toal. Toal was evaluating whether Hill tampered with Murdaugh's jury. She asked Hill directly if she let media view sealed exhibits. Hill said no. According to prosecutors, that was a lie.Murdaugh's defense successfully petitioned the Supreme Court to add Hill's conviction to the appellate record. The justices will now evaluate jury tampering claims knowing the court official at the center is a convicted perjurer. The state's response called Hill's conduct "foolish and fleeting" and insisted Murdaugh was "obviously guilty." That was filed before Hill's guilty plea. The state's position depends on trusting a woman who has proven she cannot be trusted.Defense attorneys Dick Harpootlian and Jim Griffin argue Hill's conduct is structural error — that jury tampering by a state actor is presumptively prejudicial under federal precedent. They also challenge the week of financial crimes testimony they say turned the murder trial into character assassination. The court can affirm, reverse for a new trial, or remand. The ruling comes later, in writing. But the person the state relied on to dismiss these concerns can no longer be believed.#MurdaughAppeal #BeckyHill #AlexMurdaugh #TrueCrime #JuryTampering #HiddenKillers #SupremeCourt #CriminalJustice #MurdaughTrial #SouthCarolinaJoin Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Instead of condemning, Paul includes himself and Titus as a sinners when he used the word “We...”. Paul knew who he was and what he was doing before Jesus revealed himself to Paul showing him grace and mercy on the road to Damascus. Paul's life was forever changed and he wants this for the people of Crete, as well the people everywhere he shares the gospel!

We're headed on the road in 2026! Buy tickets here:https://www.x1entertainment.com/bttb"You and I are white trash because we say the F-word, but Kira is better than that...she has a criminal record but whatever. She just said the F-word 10 times!" Well fortunately for our lovely Bitches, Kira is in the hot seat on the second half of "Wild Wild West Coast Pt 2." After a couple weeks of threats, Tracey is finally delivering on her promise to oust Kira from the ALDC by exposing her past legal troubles, but will it be enough to actually secure Sarah R a more permanent spot on the team over Kalani? As the ALDC make their final LA hurrah at Starbound they run into a bit of a problem, their dances just aren't it! Between tired choreography and some out of date references, its hard to imagine any of the dances making a strong impression compared to the more intense LA dancers in attendance. Worst of all is the bizarre choice to paint JoJo and Mackenzie in black and white for their I Love Lucy homage, managing to make the two look more like corpses than Lucy and Ethel. To add insult to injury their music shuts off mid-performance... so is that just an intentional sabotage at this point? How did it keep happening!?But while the girls are struggling to make some noise on stage, the moms certainly are making noise behind the scenes. Abby threatened that not all the girls would be returning to Pittsburgh with the ALDC, and Tracey decides the best way to make her case is by taking out the competition. She begins to hurl insults and accusations at Kira, bringing up not only the fact she'd been charged with fraud for running an eBay scheme, but also claims she was arrested for credit card fraud! Shouting of course ensues. But honestly? Abby still seems more upset over Holly's perceived betrayal from a few days prior, and technically the MattyB incident is still on the horizon because that stuff all goes down AFTER the competition. So for all of Tracey's efforts, it would seem she might have played her cards just a little too late, or maybe there really is not stopping the Kalani train if she's one of Abby's favorites.Quotes“[The Bitchettes] know it's a good episode when you start talking in your Grover voice." In this Jewish Inspiration Podcast episode (Day 119), Rabbi Aryeh Wolbe begins the Gate of Falsehood (Sheker) from Orchos Tzaddikim, emphasizing the Torah's command: "Distance yourself from falsehood" (midvar sheker tirchak). Falsehood is weighed like gold and silver—requiring careful discernment between truth and lies. The rabbi outlines types of falsehood: obvious lies (e.g., calling a tree gold), subtle forgeries (copper made to look like gold), and sophisticated rationalizations that make lies appear true. Wise people distinguish truth from falsehood in their hearts, rejecting self-serving justifications driven by negative traits (arrogance, laziness, anger, love/hate).The chapter warns that falsehood distances one from Hashem (who is truth: "Hashem Elokeinu Emet") and harms others (e.g., false testimony, slander causing pain or discord). Even when no personal gain exists, lying reflects "crookedness of heart." The rabbi stresses purging bad traits to attain pure truth—rationalizations often justify evil behavior. The episode concludes with the first category of liars (denying deposits, false testimony) and their double punishment: separation from Hashem and damage to others. A Tale of Two Gods: Why C.S. Lewis's Famous Argument Falls Apart with John Dominic Crossan

In this preview for our upcoming Lent class, Jesus in Galilee, John Dominic Crossan dives into what he calls "A Tale of Two Gods"—Caesar and Christ. He takes on C.S. Lewis's famous trilemma (Lord, Lunatic, or Liar) and asks the question Lewis never considered: what if there were two contemporary claimants to divinity? Because there were. Before Jesus ever showed up, Caesar Augustus was already being called Son of God, Savior of the World, and Lord. Dom walks us through the Battle of Actium and how Octavian's victory became the foundation for a theology of peace through violent victory—and then sets that against the Jesus movement's counter-claim: peace through distributive justice. It's not just ancient history either; as our live audience pointed out, we're watching the "normalcy of civilization" play out in real time right now. The big question Dom leaves us with is whether our species is sustainable if we keep betting on escalatory violence. Heavy stuff, but exactly the kind of thing we'll be unpacking together throughout Lent. Hope you'll join us at CrossanClass.com—lectures drop soon, and we'll have live Q&As throughout Lent. You can WATCH the lecture and see all the slides on YouTube. Join us at Theology Beer Camp, October 8-10, in Kansas City! UPCOMING ONLINE LENT CLASS: Jesus in Galilee w/ John Dominic Crossan What can we actually know about Jesus of Nazareth? And, what difference does it make? This Lenten class begins where all of Dr. John Dominic Crossan's has work begins: with history. What was actually happening in Galilee in the 20s CE? What did Herod Antipas' transformation of the "Sea of Galilee" into the commercial "Sea of Tiberias" mean for peasant fishing communities? Why did Jesus emerge from John's baptism movement proclaiming God's Rule through parables—and what made that medium so perfectly suited to that message? Only by understanding what Jesus' parables meant then can we wrestle with what they might demand of us now. The class is donation-based, including 0, so join, get info, and join up here. This podcast is a Homebrewed Christianity production. ONE THING Fear is a Liar! You can't stay where you are and go with God. In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.” Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds. – James 2:17-18
