Opening statements and testimony began in the trial against Duane Davis, charged with the 1996 murder of rap icon Tupac Shakur. While prosectors acknowledge Davis was not the actual gunman, they claim he was the mastermind behind the murder and supplied the gun used to kill Shakur. The defense showed jurors a large slide with a single word on it: “Bullshit” and said their client was known for embellishing and lying about things. And that’s important, because it’s the only way for the defense to refute the prosecution’s evidence, which is Davis’ own repeated statements, confessions and written words about what happened that night on the Vegas Strip. This week Jordana and Dr. Naomi are asking an important question: when everyone online claims to know the “right” way to do things, how do you learn to trust yourself? They unpack how social media thrives on activating our anxieties and why the most confident advice isn't always the best advice. Then, an Oversharer gets an unexpected pre-wedding reality check when her parents remind her that it's never too late to back out, but was there something they weren't telling her? A Betchisist catches her friend in an elaborate lie involving a family emergency, a secret beach trip, and an AI-generated photo excuse that absolutely does not hold up under questioning. Dr. Naomi offers an intention for anyone stuck in the uncomfortable in-between after leaving something that wasn't working but before finding what comes next. In Triggered, a mother-in-law learns that “all good” might not be the best response when you've completely ignored the baby's nap schedule. And why an unsolicited financial advisor introduction may be one of the rare occasions when ghosting is fully encouraged. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

In this short, we taste and review the first release from Potter Jane Distilling Company. Big Vat Liar is a limited-edition sourced Kentucky straight bourbon priced at $49.99. Founders Denny Potter and Jane Bowie broke their prior vow not to source whiskey and it resulted in a release of 1,200 bottles as their own distillate continues to age. They are planning to release their own distillate in 2029. You won't only get to hear our thoughts about this bottle, but you will also hear Kenny discuss a recent event where he got to meet the founders and purchase this bottle. The future definitely looks promising for these industry veterans and their budding brand. --------------------------SocialsIG: https://www.instagram.com/themashupkyFB: https://www.facebook.com/themashupkyYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@themashupkyJoin our community on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/TheMashUpBourbonPodcastPartnership(s)Visit Bourbonoutfitter.com and enter code THEMASHUP for a special discount or visit bourbonoutfitter.com/THEMASHUPMusic: All the Fixings by Zachariah HickmanThank you so much for listening!

In this week's Reddit Stories episode, Jordan and Simon discuss four neurodivergent dilemmas shared by the online community. They begin with a man who accuses his sister-in-law of lying after discovering the "Jeep" she promised him isn't technically a Jeep, sparking a conversation about autistic pedantry, the need to be correct, and why being technically right doesn't always mean you're in the right. They then unpack a story about an autistic man struggling with dating after his sister tells him that his behaviour towards women can come across as demeaning and sexist. Jordan and Simon discuss autism, honesty, accountability, parenting, and why neurodivergence shouldn't be used as an excuse to treat other people badly.Next, a husband wants his wife's autistic friend to stop visiting their home so often. They explore friendship, accommodations, autistic social differences, judgement, and why his wife's willingness to understand and support her friend might actually be the most heart warming part of the story. Finally, a brother hides a month's worth of ADHD medication as a prank—only to lose it. From medication stigma and family dynamics to revenge, responsibility and Reddit's more suspicious theories about where the missing pills went, Jordan and Simon ask: who's actually the arsehole?*The stories discussed in this episode are public Reddit posts. Two can keep a secret if one of them is dead! This week, TWIFH is delighted to bring you a special preview episode of Lez Hang Out, the #1 lesbian hangout podcast and a super-fun listen for fans of fandom. Our good friend -- and CONstruction co-host, @jarrow from TGIF/F! -- is their expert guest on this episode, a deep dive into the batshittery of Pretty Little Liars. Check out what they have to say, and listen to our episode over on the Lez Hang Out feed, too!---This week, Leigh (@lshfoster) and Ellie (@elliebrigida) hang out with return guest and founder of TGI Femslash, John Arrow (@jarrow272), to talk about the 7 season teen mystery drama, Pretty Little Liars, for this Lez-ssentials episode, a recurring segment on the essential movies and TV shows in the lesbian canon. Come with us on a journey back to 2010, when television seasons were 26 episodes long and showrunners were just starting to figure out how to harness the power of social media to engage with fandoms in a big way. Pretty Little Liars itself does not age all that well in many ways, especially in the treatment of their one and only trans character; but back in the 2010s it was actually considered pretty progressive for having several queer characters and a lesbian showrunner. If you were queer or questioning in the early aughts you 1000% knew about Shay Mitchell as sporty lesbian Emily Fields who seemingly turned every woman within a 5 mile radius of her gay. If you are a lesbian of a certain age, Emily likely played a role in your own coming out journey too.For those of you who were part of the #BooRadleyVanCullen (like Leigh), you may recall more of the social fandom experience than you do the plot. Before Twitter became the cesspool it is today, there were the golden days of weekly live tweeted episodes of PLL with the cast members, the showrunner and the writers. The extremely unhinged plot made it the perfect group-viewing show and we highly recommend that if you have never watched PLL, you watch with a friend or three. While we do talk about a lot of the major plot points, the whole series is just too convoluted for us to really spoil anything for you. Even hardcore fans like John find something new in each rewatch. At the end of the episode, stick around to hear our original song based on PLL, titled “A Liar”, written by Leigh Holmes Foster and produced by Ellie Brigida. Every entrepreneur begins with a vision that no one else can fully see. Before there is a company, a customer, or a balance sheet, there is an individual willing to assume extraordinary risk for an idea that exists only in their imagination. In this foundational solo episode, Jay Doran introduces one of the central concepts in his philosophy of entrepreneurship: The Liar Lid Journey. It is a framework for understanding the internal transformation every entrepreneur undergoes as they build something that does not yet exist.Jay explains that entrepreneurs don't deceive maliciously—they must temporarily believe in a future reality before anyone else can. That willingness to "distort reality" is what allows innovation to emerge. It is also what makes entrepreneurship both exhilarating and dangerous. The same mindset that fuels vision, conviction, and growth can, if left unchecked, become the very force that limits or destroys an organization. In this episode, you'll discover:What the Liar Lid is and why every entrepreneur develops oneWhy entrepreneurship fundamentally changes the person building the businessHow vision requires believing in something others cannot yet seeWhy assuming risk transforms identity, relationships, and decision-makingThe hidden psychological cost of building organizationsHow entrepreneurs become accountable to far more than profits aloneWhy the same mechanism that creates innovation can also create destructionHow understanding the Liar Lid Journey can shorten the suffering that accompanies growth and changeWhy leadership begins long before anyone else believes in the visionThroughout the conversation, Jay reframes entrepreneurship as more than a business endeavor. It is a deeply human journey of identity, responsibility, sacrifice, and continual transformation. Organizations don't simply grow from products or services—they grow from the evolving psychology of the people courageous enough to bring them into existence.Whether you're an entrepreneur, an executive, an investor, or someone who works alongside visionary leaders, understanding the Liar Lid Journey offers a new lens through which to understand leadership itself.Because every business begins with an idea. But every enduring organization is shaped by the person willing to carry that idea long before the rest of the world believes it.

The Washington Roundtable's Jane Mayer interviews Andrew Weissmann, a former prosecutor for the Department of Justice who served as a lead member of the Mueller investigation, about what meaningful legal accountability in the Trump Administration looks like. He points to a fix that would raise the bar for federal grand-jury indictments, and explains why he believes that Donald Trump's disputed I.R.S. settlement may not survive legal scrutiny. He also makes the case, drawn from his new book, “Liar's Kingdom: How to Stop Trump's Deceit and Save America,” for treating political lying itself as a problem that the law can address. “We have to be thinking about big, bold ideas,” Weissmann says. This week's reading: “The Future, Made in China,” by Evan Osnos “How Roy Cohn Taught Donald Trump Everything,” by Kai Bird and Susan Goldmark “Why Donald Trump Talks So Much About Foreign Election Interference,” by David D. Memory, Secrecy, and Sisterhood in Juliet Faithful's Liar's DiceToday on Salt Lake Dirt, Kyler sits down with author Juliet Faithfull to discuss her novel Liar's Dice. Set against the backdrop of 1970s Brazil under a military dictatorship, the story follows identical twin sisters Dolores and Mita, who grow up in a rural village. After Mita develops disabilities around age seven, she is abruptly sent away to an institution—a common practice of the era that left families shrouded in silent grief and shame. Driven by a desperate determination to find her sister, 12-year-old Dolores embarks on a quest that requires her to confront her family's denial and overcome her own illiteracy so she can write to Mita. Faithful draws on her own childhood experiences to parallel the family's buried trauma with the broader political climate of censorship, state lies, and resistance in Brazil. During their discussion, Faithful reflected on her long journey toward finishing the book, which was developed over two decades while balancing her career as a therapist and raising two children. She shared how writing the dual timelines was both emotionally challenging and deeply essential, forcing her to confront themes of hidden identity, literacy, and truth-telling. Faithful also explained the origin of the title Liar's Dice, referencing a poker-like game of chance and deception that mirrors the secrecy surrounding the family, government censorship, and Dolores's own quiet rebellions. Readers looking to explore this moving novel can find copies through major booksellers or connect with the author for book club visits at julietfaithful.com. ---Episode Links:Purchase Liar's DiceJulietFaithfull.com

Parsha ‘Vaet-Chanan’ (Deuteronomy 3:23-7:11) continues Moses’ ‘Farewell Address’ and lesson with “…and I BESOUGHT” Yahuah — but he was not allowed to enter the land, and that is followed up with some of the most important commandments in all of Scripture. But the “Ten Debarim” are just part of that; Yahushua noted that what precedes it, “Shema Israel,” is even greater. It is central to what Mark has called “Yahushua’s Razor.” The Erev Shabbat reading is one of the most important in His Torah: https://hebrewnationonline.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/SSM-7-24-26-Va-et-Chanan-teaching-podcast-xxx.mp3 This Torah portion is so powerfully central to the understanding of why YHVH forbids idolatry in ANY form, and is called “El Kanah” – the Jealous God – three times in this context. And since it also, without question, includes THE most important commandments in Scripture (to the point where He even uses the Singular – as in THE Commandment) this is the context where Mark Call of Shabbat Shalom Mesa fellowship outlines what he calls ‘THE Razor,’ which is the Truth so central to the ministry of the Torah Made Flesh, Yahushua, that it also serves to divide from what is probably the greatest lie in history: that ‘jesus’ somehow “did away with the Law.” What it shows is why the distinction between the Real Messiah, Who did NOT in any way, and the fake, is so vital. It’s not about pronunciation, or whether there was even a “J” in Hebrew for those 15 centuries. It’s far more fundamental, but is encapsulated in, His Mama NEVER Called Him ‘jesus’!” https://hebrewnationonline.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/WT-CooH-7-25-26-Va-et-Chanan-Baruch-Haba-but-non-in-the-name-of-a-Liar-w-Truth-not-in-Him-Moses-seat-QQQ-podcast-xxx.mp3 Service information: Shabbat Shalom Mesa fellowship worship services and teachings are broadcast live every Sabbath, via Paltalk. Charles is joined by longtime friend and concert enthusiast Andy to recap their 24/7 Live Music Challenge — an ambitious attempt to see 24 live music events in just seven days, inspired by "Concert Joe" Sarkis of New York, who famously attended 1,000 shows in a single year back in 1992. Based in the Chicago area, Charles and Andy plotted their week using ChatGPT to build efficient nightly itineraries, hitting 24 shows across 16 different clubs without ever buying tickets in advance. They quickly learned that averaging three and a half shows per night was brutal — three shows in one night put them behind schedule, while four was a struggle to pull off even once, let alone repeatedly. The conversation walks through each night in detail, from a jazz set at the historic Green Mill and a punk show at Subterranean to blues legends at Buddy Guy's Legends and Blue Chicago, a folk night at The Hideout, and a storytelling-meets-live-band show at Martyrs that reminded them both of NPR. Along the way they battled real tornado warnings that knocked out power at multiple venues, forcing last-minute audibles, and stumbled into unexpected magic — snagging the last two seats at nearly every stop, watching Buddy Guy hang out in his own club ahead of his 90th birthday, and catching an incredible impromptu bass solo from a musician neither of them had heard of before. By the end of the week, Charles and Andy had hit their goal of 24 shows for a total of just $313 in cover charges (well under the $1,000 budget Andy had braced his wife for), capped off by seeing Santana and the Doobie Brothers at a Tinley Park band shell. Standout moments included the high-energy punk band Squint and Kansas City act Season to Risk at The Liar's Club, while the sheer physical toll — late trains, torrential rain, and blown-out eardrums — made clear why neither of them plans to repeat the full challenge. Still, both agreed it was a rewarding way to break out of their musical comfort zones, discover new venues worth revisiting, and appreciate just how much dedication (and money) serious "concert chasers" like Concert Joe put into their passion. BANDS: Able Baker, Amyl and the Sniffers, Cherry Decay, Dog Caller, Dot, Grateful Dub, Greasy Gravy, Groove Witness, Jerry's Middle Finger, Public Opinion, Santana, Season to Risk, Squint, Tunnel, liverwhip, the Doobie Brothers, La Croix Mystique, Majesty. VENUES:  Andy's Jazz Club, Beat Kitchen, Blue Chicago, Buddy Guy's Legends, Cobra Lounge, Fitzgeralds, Garcia's, Jazz Showcase, Martyrs, Salt Shed, Shubas, Subterranean, The Empty Bottle, The Green Mill, The Hideout, The Hungry Brain, The Liar's Club, Tinley Park (band shell). A viewer named Stephen poses a hard question: if a repentant abortionist can be saved on his deathbed and never "pay" for his crimes, doesn't that make God's promise of vengeance and justice a lie? Dr. William Lane Craig responds that the listener has confused justice with grace — the gospel was never about earning salvation through works, but about a mercy that saves sinners who turn to God in genuine repentance and faith. Craig explains how penal substitutionary atonement satisfies both God's justice and His mercy without compromise, argues that "Vengeance is Mine" is being read out of context, and challenges Stephen to examine why grace toward a repentant sinner feels unjust rather than something to rejoice in.

In this episode of It's In the Code, host Dan Miller tackles one of the most provocative questions a believer can ask: Did God lie in the Garden of Eden? Beginning with a listener's question about Genesis and God's warning that Adam and Eve would die if they ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, Dan takes a close look at the biblical text itself rather than the assumptions many Christians bring to it. Along the way, he explores how later theological traditions—including original sin, spiritual death, and the identification of the serpent with Satan—have shaped the way this familiar story is understood, often in ways that go beyond what the text actually says. Drawing connections to his previous episode on Job, Dan argues that some of the Bible's most challenging passages become even more unsettling when read carefully and without inherited interpretations. He examines the role of the serpent, the meaning of knowledge, and why difficult questions about scripture are so often discouraged in high-control religious communities. Rather than seeing these questions as signs of weak faith, Dan suggests they emerge from taking the Bible seriously enough to wrestle honestly with its complexities. Have you ever done everything you believed God asked of you and still heard nothing back? That's where Jason Jackson Jr. sat in early 2025, pulling in millions of views on his content and still unable to cover rent or keep food in the fridge. This week Candace and Jason talk about the weight of waiting, and what it takes to keep going when the answer is not coming on your timeline. Jason walks through the fasting he committed to and the moment when everything shifted. He and Candace talk about why how you see yourself decides how long you stay in the wilderness, and why your current situation is not your final conclusion. They also answer three listener questions: Courtney is learning to sit in church beside a friend who walked away. Lily, who is 18, is fighting the lies of perfectionism and performance. Catherine wants to know how to find friends who keep her honest. Candace reminds Lily that God has never asked any of us to be perfect, only to come as we are! For email updates and more from Candace, head to candace.com. Candace is going on a live tour this September; find your city and get tickets at candace.com/tour. You can find Jason's exclusive video series, Unfiltered Faith, at candace.com/together, along with the Together Community app. Life is like a rollercoaster, but it's better when we go through it together!
