St. Andrew's Church - Gainesville, FL
Bishop Ron gives an update on the COVID-19 and St. Andrew's response to it. And then he looks at Luke 1:14-28 which is where Jesus casts a demon out of a man and then interacts with the people and the disciples about what happened and it's implications for us. Where is your allegiance? And it is not enough to eliminate sin from our lives...We need to have the fullness of the Holy Spirit dwelling within us. We must flee to Christ and embrace Him.
Father Larry says "Faith is not a form of denial." So Father Larry looks at how Jesus heals the paralytic and the teaching of James where Jesus deals with the sin and sickness is healed too, and when he heals the sick, forgiveness of sin happens too. Jesus redeemed us and it's our Faith that is the catalyst. Faith is not a form of denial. Faith is an imperative. Receive what Jesus has promised to you (peace). And take a closer look at Phil. 4:4-8.
The difference between desire and will. You are not stuck at the desire level. Your spirit has a choice to choose what is better to apply yourself to better things.
Jesus healed a blind man in Mark 8 and then asked the disciples a series of questions about "who do ____ say that I am?" What's the connection and what is our response? Is it like Peter's? Are we ready to answer and also give Jesus our "Yes, Lord"??
Bishop Sean looks at the three temptations of Jesus in Matthew 4. According to Matthew, Jesus was "led by the Spirit into the wilderness" to be tempted by the devil. Satan was trying to get Jesus to prove himself. So ask yourself, what are you trying to prove? God can be trusted to bring Glory without us having to prove anything. Healing is not the absence of temptation nor is temptation sin. Can we say "Jesus, I trust you."?
Father Larry reviews his teaching on the Holy Spirit and particularly the gift of Tongues to the Church and to an individual. He gives a wonderful illustration of how we "soak up the spirit" (don't miss it!) and as illustrations go, it might "go awry" a bit, but is perfect! Father Larry again teaches on the amazing event of the Ascension and how the disciples encountered the angel. What might our response have been?
The flow of the Church year (this Sunday is Quinquagesima (50 days before Lent) is making the connection between the healing of Bartimaeus and 1 Cor 13 (the Love Chapter). It's reminding us that the main thing to pray and fast about during Lent is that God would give us more love; a revelation of love. Are we ready to receive it?? (Hint: Forgiveness and repentance are keys - which is why we ask for this before Lent begins.)
Series on The Person and Work of the Holy Spirit. What are the effects of the different types of tongues and what are their purposes? Father Larry distinguishes between a gift of tongue given in a public setting (always with interpretation) which is linked to evangelism and a gift of tongue given in your own personal time with the Lord which leads to your edification.
As we approach Lent, the Church connected this Sunday to Paul's teaching in 2 Corinthians 11. The Collect (Prayer) for Sexagesima Sunday: O Lord God, who sees that we put our trust in any thing that we do; Mercifully grant that by thy power we may be defended against all adversity; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. We look back to men like Paul who faced adversities from without and within and we may be tempted to feel rejection or self-pity or even comparing ourselves with others (listening to the accusations of the enemy). But let us not misinterpret our sufferings (none of us like Paul...) and be drawn deeper into Jesus that we embrace the spirituality of the cross.
Why tongues? It was a unifying experience (Acts 2). And yet James says that the tongue can't be tamed. But look what the Holy Spirit did! The speaking in tongues builds up the faith of the believer. And yet again, humility stands guard at every significant passage in the Christian's life.
Let's be a people that LONG for God like Simeon. Let's make room for Him and create the space in us for the Holy Spirit to move in us and through us.
Faith is receiving. When Jesus asks us "What can I do for you? Let us open our hands and answer Him and then receive it.
Bishop Ron gives a report of his recent trips and teaches from Matthew 8:1-11, reminding us that if we want to see God do some big things (which He is doing...) then we need to follow Him in the little things. There are people being drawn from the East and the West, don't miss it by being religious... even the disciples had to be taught by Jesus.
Series continues on the Person and Work of the Holy Spirit. Acts 1:8-9 Jesus, as our example, lived a life of love and power (authority) which expressed itself with signs and miracles, yes, but also remarkably in SERVICE. Do you want the Love and Power without the Service? Matthew 8, Luke 9
Jesus restores what was once was; because He loves you; not because He wants to change you or fix you, but to transform you and restore you.
Series continues on "The Work and Person of the Holy Spirit." The Holy Spirit is working in power all around us and through us and that's what we "bear witness" to;, that's the evidence. So let's learn God's language so that when He speaks to us by His Spirit, we can recognize it and then assign meaning to it.
Consider who is Jesus to you? The Real Jesus was the Son of God, the "In whom I am well pleased," and beloved.
Jesus ascended having given the disciples Authority, and the Holy Spirit descended and gave them Power (and they were filled with Joy! What a change!).
God is present and active on our behalf. Look for where He is and where we can find our part (our "terraces") in the bigger (and sometimes longer) plan.
Father Larry introduces a new series by giving a little historical background to moves of the Holy Spirit throughout the years and then takes us into Mark 5 and the story of Jesus healing the "woman with the issue of blood."
A deeper look at Matthew 2: How God designed the history of Herod and the aligning of the stars and planets for His purposes.
What does it mean to "walk the unforced rhythms of grace" (Matt 11:28, The Message)? How do we "walk humbly, show mercy and live justly" (Micah 6:8)?
John the Baptist understood what it meant to long for something and lead the way. His example can help us reset our expectations; to raise them up higher. There is more for us in Jesus. Set your hearts to long for Him.
Transition between the Parable of the Sower Series and the Holy Spirit Series. Draw near to Him and He will draw near to you.
We worship, we learn, we prepare and then we go out into the world to bring the Glory of God. How can you tell between the legit and the illlegit? The Power of God and the Holy Spirit.
Gideon turns his anointing from a positive into a negative. Three Lessons: Be Humble, Be Discerning, Be Appreciative.
Kreshelle Marquis shared an insight from the Parable of the Sower (Mark 4) that the Disciples were blessed by Jesus BEFORE He explained what they didn't understand. They were blessed because they WANTED to hear and see and they WENT to Jesus.
We are urged to "come boldly" to the Throne of Grace - to receive mercy and to find grace in our time of need. Grace is a pathway to triumph in Jesus and Faith is the catalyst for His Grace.
ishop Ron 1) reminds us of the Disciple Andrew, 2) why we celebrate Advent (1st Sunday) and also 3) Judas Maccabeus and the revolt against the evil Antiochus and why that matters today.
Bishop Ron teaches through the grace of salvation and invites us to thank the Lord for all He has done for us. Music by Annie Johnson at the end.
Includes a spontaneous time of prayer and worship.
The fellowship and communion with Jesus is what we all want and the Word of God, which is alive and active is the key.
The Full Armor of God: If you want peace, you have to be willing to go to war.
Gideon's story gives us great hope as we understand that the Lord is with us in the battle.
God sees the beginning and the end of our story and if we listen to Him, He will lead us as we fight our battles (for ourselves, our families and our nations).

The manifestation of God's mercy and grace is the greatest revelation of who God is (not His Power, His Greatness, not His Signs). It is in His capacity to love us and forgive us which is so remarkable.
