In EPISODE06, Illustrator Madison Safer and I discuss her whimsical paintings of imaginary creatures, nature, and love of herbs. You can find Madison’s work directly on her website, Instagram, and Etsy. Madison teaches painting classes and how to open sacred space for creativity. I absolutely love the intentions she sets with herbal tea blends, incense smokes, anointing oils, and infusing her painting water with plant potions. “ Madison Safer is an illustrator who is happiest in a forest full of mushrooms. Her work is often centered around themes of nostalgia, home, and the whimsy of quiet woods of New England. She is inspired by Russian folk art, quilt patterns, and the warmth of a fire after a very cold day. After receiving her BFA in illustration studies from Montserrat College of Art, she currently resides in the sleepy hills of New Hampshire. When she is not napping or drawing, Madison is best found drinking tea, daydreaming, or stealing flowers.” IDYLLIC LAND PODCAST thrives with support from you. In EPISODE04 Travis Alex and I have a unique conversation about his conceptual photography and art direction with Shibari Bondage, Kink Culture, and how this has been a gateway of tremendous healing and artistic exploration for both himself and those he collaborates with. This episode and interview are unlike any other I’ve conducted. The topic of BDSM culture can be controversial for some, therefore this episode may not be for everyone’s ears. I greatly admire Travis’ body of work as it evolves. His expertise, professionalism, and technical skill measures up to each photographs emotional depth. Consent is the word! Our culture is in great need of communicating (speaking and listening) to desires and needs whether platonic or sexual. I believe that in these changing times we must embrace our personal pleasures and preferences, voicing them effectively within spaces of intimacy. These are powerful places of healing and expressions of love within the human psyche. Regardless of meaning, one can certainly appreciate Travis’ photographs for their generosity of detail, expression, and light. You can see more of Travis’ work on his website and most recent content on Instagram. @travisalexphoto @rope_marks_ IDYLLIC LAND PODCAST thrives with support from you.
