His passion for vinyl and electronic music led to his first steps as DJ Solaris at the legendary Prime Rose Club in Nuremberg. In 1996, he opened his own record store, "Recordstore," together with Stefan Volkert (Warren). With him, he also organized events like "SoundLab" at Desi for several years and formed the DJ duo Warren & Solaris. From 2003, he was the literal heart of the Nuremberg techno and house club "Die Rakete" (The Rocket), which he successfully co-managed until 2020. As a Rakete resident, his warm and organic sound, somewhere between House and Techno, evolved there. With empathy for the dancefloor, an instinct for the right track at the right time, and influences from Dub, Acid, and Electronica, he always manages to span a large arc across his sets. For his own event series "Super Klub," he invited fellow DJs such as Levon Vincent, Subb-An, Gerd Janson, Barnt, and many more. His monthly event series "Mitkete" at the "Mitte Soundbar" was also a constant fixture of Nuremberg's nightlife for years. Since 2014, he has been releasing tracks produced with Markus Homm on labels such as Bondage, Cyclic, and Brise, including remixes by Mihai Popoviciu and Schlepp Geist. With nearly 30 years of experience behind the decks, he repeatedly manages to create surprising moments and transmit a positive vibe. Sid Vicious - propelled him into the heart of the fledgling UK punk scene.By the end of that year, Mark had started one of the first British punk fanzines, SKUM, and not only been befriended by Bernie Rhodes, The Clash, and members of the Sex Pistols, but by Malcolm McLaren and Vivienne Westwood, who having seen Mark's cartoon of the Sex Pistols v. Bill Grundy TV fiasco, commissioned a ‘Story So Far' from him that became the insert to the Never Mind The Bollocks album. Mark was among the only proper fans, and surely the youngest to attend the Pistols' Silver Jubilee boat trip/concert on June 7, 1977, at which he was arrested and spend the night in jail. By then he was all of 15. He remembers it to this day as the best gig of his life.Mark ceased publishing SKUM in December 1977, a year after he had started, and indulged his Beat Poetry obsession instead, starting a fanzine called All The Poets, printed in early 1979 by Joly MacFie (featured on Episode 3 of this podcast) at Better Badges, as a ‘guinea pig' for his new printing press. Around the same time, he allowed my zine Jamming! to cut-and-paste his (first ever) Sid Vicious interview from SKUM 1 for my Jamming! 7, also printed at Better Badges.At the end of September 2025, Mark and I had a real time conversation for the first time in over 46 years, which I recorded in entirety for this, the final UK episode of the Fanzine Podcast. Romans 8:15 — It is safe to say all battle with seasons of fear and worry. Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones shows two things that Paul is confirming in Romans 8:15: all who are led to Christ are children of God and those who are children of God no longer have a spirit of bondage or fear. In this sermon on Romans 8:15 titled “The Spirit of Bondage,” Dr. Lloyd-Jones points out that this means the spirit of bondage and fear always precedes the spirit of adoption. How would a Christian be truly convicted of their sin and desperation if they first did not have a spirit which convicted them of their guilt? This guilt shows just how much all are in need of a Savior. Dr. Lloyd-Jones explains that Christians may experience this spirit of bondage to different degrees, but it does not mean that one person has sinned more than the other. The amount of sin does not matter, but it is the realization of that sin that is necessary to bring about true salvation. The Holy Spirit, which dwells in all Christians, is a spirit of truth and always produces a sense of sin and sense of conviction. The Holy Spirit cannot truly lead to God without showing how holy and just Christ is. All Christians have experienced this and can praise God who sends the Holy Spirit.
