Richard and I first met as colleagues during a year-long holistic counselling course. Over the months, we not only connected through the rich and layered material being taught, but also on a more personal level. What immediately stood out to me was Richard's thoughtful, inquisitive nature—his ability to question what many simply accept as truth, and his willingness to dig deeper into the human experience. I've always appreciated the way he sees the world, with both curiosity and compassion. His perspective brings depth and nuance to conversations around healing, and I'm grateful to have him here today to share his insights into grief, trauma, and the transformative potential of truly being with what is.About this week's guestDr. Richard Blake holds a PhD in Transpersonal Psychology and was the lead investigator on the largest randomised controlled trial ever conducted on Conscious Connected Breathwork. He specialises in using altered states of consciousness—including breathwork, nature immersion, plant medicine, and ketogenic nutrition—as tools for deep trauma healing and nervous system regulation. A passionate advocate for evolving the field of mental health, Dr. Blake believes in moving beyond relying solely on medication and talk therapy to embrace holistic, somatic, and biohacking-based approaches. His work is grounded in both rigorous scientific research and personal experience. As the co-host of the RUNGA Radio podcast, he also emphasises the critical role of intentional community in healing and personal transformation.IG: @the_breath_geekWebsite: www.runga.coGlobal Professional Breathwork Alliance: https://breathworkalliance.com/Support the showFind support: Offers - free and paid Support the show: Become a supporter of the show! // ABOUT THIS JOURNEY //We access the realm of your eternal soul's wisdom (Higher Self!) by using hypnosis.Expanding awareness, elevating the frequency at which the energy you are is vibrating, and we merge with this divine part of you to gain insights and understandings that can help you to shift your consciousness. Understanding the nature of your consciousness is a necessary step in shifting it. We're just getting started on this journey I know it. Want to share what you get while exploring on this hypnotic journey? Email hi@jinaseer.com. Some of the questions we're exploring on this hypnotic adventure:How is consciousness tied to the body? How is your individual consciousness tied to the collective consciousness? What can we know about embodying a higher or more expanded consciousness? How would the world be different if we all moved to more expanded state of consciousnes? What can you higher self tell you about younaccessing a higher more expanded state of consciousness? // WATCH THE VIDEO //I've been sharing videos on YouTube as well. The last episode video was of me in session. And during the short intro, some incense burning in my kitchen. Watch that here - https://youtu.be/6flySB1lgQUFor the hypnotic journeys like in this episode, I've been having fun making videos to go with these journeys. Simply thinking about making my own videos (instead of using a stock video), has helped me see my home in a new light and angles. Literally! I see new angles to record as the sun and her light come over the mountains in the morning, recording my dogs sleeping on the patio as the palms sway in the breeze, recording a storm as it rolls through the valley east of my home. It's nice to have a reason to capture it all.The back drop for this hypnotic journey is a delightful little corner of plants on my patio as the sunrises. I sped this video up a bit. Inspired by my lady Roxanne as she was lounging on the patio underneath the swaying palms, I set up my camera and sat on my patio too doing some work for this episode. You'll see her little sister walking through as she hunts lizards and guards the premises. Traditional therapy works for some, but it's not always the best path for everyone. This explores how the unconscious mind holds on to past experiences often without us realizing and how that can shape our thoughts and emotions. It also looks at why revisiting the same trauma over and over may not always lead to healing, and how other approaches can help create real, lasting change. It offers a different way of looking at emotional wellness, one that focuses on finding purpose, letting go of old patterns, and understanding how the mind truly works. If you're feeling stuck or looking for new ways to move forward, this perspective might be worth exploring.Highlights of the Podcast00:04 - Challenging Freud's Legacy01:42 - Revisiting Alternative Thinkers04:53 - Unconscious Mind vs. Conscious Logic06:38 - Rewriting Mental Patterns Through NLP08:23 - Importance of Purpose and Identity10:04 - The Role of Anger11:24 - Breaking Down Programming13:01 - When Standard Therapy Isn't Enough15:41 - Preparing for Plant Medicine

Hey everybody! Episode 161 of the show is out. In this episode, I spoke with Mariana Mae. Mariana is an artist, cultural bridge and healing arts practitioner that I met through our mutual friend Jessica Begin. I was really impressed by Mariana's wisdom. We sat down and spoke about her background, her work as an artist, how pottery brought her to the Amazon to learn from the Shipibo people, and how that opened up a gateway to plants and medicine. She has a really interesting story and she weaves these different paths beautifully together. I trust you all will gain much from this episode. Mike “C-Roc” sits down with Drew Bankey—a veteran, healer, and advocate for mental and spiritual transformation. Drew opens up about his time in the military, the trauma he faced during and after his service in Iraq, and the invisible wounds of PTSD that nearly cost him his life. Plus, Tasha shares her inspiring personal journey from being a curious plant enthusiast to becoming a professionally trained herbalist, and reveals how she helps families create their own natural medicine cabinets, stocked with effective herbal remedies that actually work. Welcome to the second installment in our Anatomy of a Formula series. In this post, we'll examine a classic North American herbal duo: the archetypal stimulant, Cayenne (Capsicum annuum), and the archetypal relaxant, Lobelia (Lobelia inflata). If you missed the introductory post, which explored a brief history of formulation in Western herbalism and the strategic thinking behind herbal pairs and triplets, be sure to check it out[LINK]—it sets the stage for this series and what we're diving into today. In 2015, I drank Ayahuasca abroad. It was a deeply transformational moment — but also an intense, terrifying one. Ayahuasca isn't something to take lightly. It demands real care and respect. In this episode, I speak with Dr Jeff McNairy, Chief Medical Officer at Rythmia Life Advancement Center in Costa Rica — the world's only medically licensed Ayahuasca retreat. Dr Jeff bridges the world of clinical medicine with deep experience of plant medicine, having worked with thousands of people seeking healing where conventional approaches have fallen short. We talk about: What actually happens during an Ayahuasca ceremony Why emotional purging can be so powerful The neuroscience of trauma, release and neuroplasticity Why integration afterwards is absolutely essential How the Western medical model often misses the root causes of suffering And the kind of healing that becomes possible when we stop bypassing what we feel I also share some of my own journey with the medicine — how it cracked me open and ultimately shaped the work I now do around inner alignment. This is a grounded conversation about plant medicine — not as a miracle cure, but as a serious path for those ready to face themselves honestly. –––
My guest today is Amy Charlesworth. Amy is a 16-year military veteran and advocate for mental health and healing. After serving all over the world, including a tour in Afghanistan and more, she faced the challenge of transitioning to civilian life, grappling with anxiety, depression, and other mental health struggles. In 2024, she experienced a life-changing healing entheogenic retreat through the non-profit Illuminating Heroes, and now dedicates herself to helping veterans and first responders find similar healing. Based in Los Angeles, Amy is the host of the "QNAMY Show", a YouTube/Podcast exploring mental health, plant medicines, and spiritual awakenings. She holds an MBA, is a speaker, charity board member, and works in the YouTube/Podcast industry. The power of plant medicine as a tool for healing mental health issues.2. How important it is to have women in and the role that women play in the military.3. Why it's so important to be surrounded and have the support of community for those who are transitioning out of the military. “Right now the conversation in our society is always focused specifically on the fact that women shouldn't be in the military because we're fighting in combat. First of all, that's ridiculous. That's absolutely ridiculous, especially like our modern war fighting tactics. We're using drones these days. There's all kinds of equipment that we have, safety equipment.” - 00:03:59“For me, courage now is it's honesty, it's integrity. It's like living by a moral code. It's a compass. It's not being afraid to do the right thing." 00:26:11“I definitely feel like the most important factor, period, about healing is your ability to turn around and help someone else heal. ” 01:00:29
In this week's episode of In Search of More, I sit down with Dr. Charlie Powell — and this one really stayed with me.Charlie's lived a life most people couldn't make up. He started in biomedical engineering, then became a combat medic in the Gulf War, a trauma ER doctor, cosmetic surgeon, patent holder, successful businessman. From the outside, it looks like strength and success. But underneath it all, he was holding a lot — PTSD, exhaustion, and the emotional weight of everything he witnessed on the front lines. What I love about Charlie is that he didn't just accept the system. He called bullshit. He saw how broken traditional medicine was — especially when it came to trauma and mental health — and went looking for more. He ended up diving into plant medicine, psychedelics, and all kinds of alternative healing. Not because it was trendy. Because nothing else worked. We talked about forgiveness, about parenting, about how even addiction and pain can become teachers if you're willing to stop running and actually feel. This episode is a reminder that healing isn't about fixing what's broken — it's about facing what hurts, and letting it teach you who you really are.Later in the episode, Charlie opens up about a documentary he's working on called Healing Heroes: No Mind Left Behind. It started small — just him trying to connect with a few vets — but it's grown into this beautiful, raw look at what it really means to carry trauma and still choose life. The film is all about veterans and first responders finding healing through connection, conversation, and yes, psychedelics. But most of all, it's about not doing it alone. If you've ever felt like your pain isolates you, like no one could understand — this one's for you. It's a call to stop hiding and start healing.See you on the other side,Eli

Have you been studying herbs for a while, but you still feel unsure about how to combine them into an effective formula? Or maybe you're newer to herbalism and ready to dive into the art and science of formulation? Formulation is one of my favorite parts of herbal medicine, so I'm excited to kick off a new series called The Anatomy of a Formula. I love the synergy that emerges when herbs are combined in intelligent, intentional ways—and the specificity you can achieve when formulating for a particular person. It's both powerful and fun. However, for budding herbalists, formulation can initially feel daunting and a little confusing. Without some kind of framework or guidance, many people end up just tossing a bunch of herbs into a bottle and hoping it works. That's not an ideal approach because you're essentially leaving your therapeutics to chance. Instead, approach formulation with strategy, intention, and precision, tailored to the individual you're working with. Here's what we'll cover in this post: • A brief history of formulation in North American herbalism • Formulation challenges and how to fix the problem • The foundations of herbal formulas: pairs and triplets • The anatomy of an effective formula ———————————— CONNECT WITH SAJAH AND WHITNEY ———————————— To get free in depth mini-courses and videos, visit our blog at: http://www.evolutionaryherbalism.com Get daily inspiration and plant wisdom on our Facebook and Instagram channels: http://www.facebook.com/EvolutionaryHerbalism https://www.instagram.com/evolutionary_herbalism/ Be sure to subscribe to our YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCyP63opAmcpIAQg1M9ShNSQ Get a free 5-week course when you buy a copy of the book, Evolutionary Herbalism: https://www.evolutionaryherbalism.com/evolutionary-herbalism-book/ Shop our herbal products: https://naturasophiaspagyrics.com/ ———————————— ABOUT THE PLANT PATH ———————————— The Plant Path is a window into the world of herbal medicine.
