Double Tap Episode 428 This episode of Double Tap is brought to you by: Midwest Industries, Gideon Optics, RMA Defense, Medical Gear Outfitters, Rost Martin, Mitchell Defense, and Matador Arms   Welcome to Double Tap, episode 428! Your hosts tonight are Jeremy Pozderac, Aaron Krieger, Nick Lynch, and me Shawn Herrin, welcome to the show! pew.deals - Dear WLS Trucker Matt - Oh boy, this is gonna be a long one. Multiple questions. I'd apologize for it, but you guys are like the Dr. Ruth of the gun world, minus the sex advice, thank god.  It's my understanding from listening over the years that possession of both full auto M16/M4 lower parts kit with the auto sear and M16-cut lower receivers is fully legal as long as the dreaded third hole is not drilled in the lowers. Do you guys know which manufacturers sell lowers with the M16-cut instead of the high shelf? Just curious (not bi-curious, A-Aron) for reasons... Jeremy, do the RET4RD lowers have the M-16 cut, and if so, do you have any left available?  I have a 6.5 Creedmoor AR10 that I pieced together using Aero M5 lower, upper and handguard, Spikes BCG and Criterion 18inch barrel. I have a Vortex Diamondback Tactical 6-24x50 first focal plane scope that I want to mount on it. I know it's not an ideal scope, but I got it for free. Can you recommend a good 30mm tube mount or rings that won't break the bank, preferably 20 MOA for longer range.  Salma Hayek, Dame Helen Mirren, Jane Seymour (of Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman and Wedding Crashers fame). Fuck one, marry one, kill one. Discuss. Keep up the great work guys. The WLS shows are the highlight of my week. Pecker McPeckerson - If you had to start your journey into the gun cumunity over, How, in 2025, would you get into the industry? a gun store, a range, a podcast, etc.You cannot use any contacts you already have from the gun community. You are starting from scratch with just the guns you have purchased and basic knowledge of firearms. Ny(e)gerski - You guys talk down alot about shadow systems, but I'd like to be a bit contrarian. When I bought mine, I was looking for something g19 sized, reliable, safe, and a bit upgraded. I considered building one on a p80 or a faxon frame...but then I saw the cr920 elite. Metal mags, upgraded trigger, grip texture, optic cut, etc. All for 750 bucks. I'll admit they have gone up in price more than they should (i.e. kanik) and their marketing department with the wording....really guys.... my question is, have you guys looked at their optic cut? It's pretty neat, fits most all of the different cuts without plates. It uses little spacers that you have to shoehorn the optic in where the screws have almost no pressure on them. Maybe it would be a good option to license to other manufacturers? Ps. as a fuel driver in the Midwest, there are pretty much 2 grades of fuel...subgrade which is around 84 octane, and premium which is 91. Those 2 fuels get either blended together, blended with ethanol, or both to create all the different fuels you get at the station. 84 with 10% ethanol gets you to 87octane. 84 with 15% ethanol gets you 88octane. 84 with a little 91 gets you 87 with 0 ethanol...etc. we were hoping to see you guys at goals, but had to change our vacation days from an adoption finally having an end date right after, hope you guys had a blast! Shaak&Awe - Curious! Can I use a crush washer on a direct tread suppressor? Mark B - Im looking to get a Ruger 10/22 and plan to put a scope on it, probably an old 2.5-10 Tasco I have laying around. I like the look of the heavy 16” barrel, like on model 31197. Is the bull barrel of any practical use on a 22? I do plan to do some off hand shooting, but most will be from a bipod or front bag. Ruger makes a lite model that gives the look of the heavy barrel but is much less weight, however it costs significantly more. I have no plans to compete with this, just a fun shooter.

Together we explore the paradox of sacred selfishness , the courage to tend ourselves as holy ground, to honor our needs, boundaries, and inner longings as the very soil from which authentic love can grow. We speak to the art of holding space for the parts of ourselves we tend to turn away from, the wounds, the unmet places still aching for attention. This conversation is an invocation into remembering that our relationships are not simply about giving and receiving, but about awakening. To love one another, we must first learn to love ourselves, especially in a time when loving is a radical act. Show Notes: Kendalle Cobb, a family physician, has been practicing in Cleveland since 2004. She graduated from George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, DC and completed her family medicine residency at Kaiser Foundation Hospital in Fontana, California. After a year in Boston, she returned to serve on the faculty at her former residency program. She met her husband, who taught at a boarding school in Claremont, California, and after they got married, they moved to Cleveland to be closer to his family. Family Physician and Physician Advisor Kendalle shares that family medicine, as a primary care specialty, takes a more holistic approach with the inclusion of counseling and a “cradle to grave” mentality that follows the patient through different stages of life. She sees patients 50% of the time in a family health center in the community. The rest of her time is spent as one of the associate chiefs of staff and as a physician advisor at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine, a five-year program that trains students to be physician investigators, focusing on research, scholarship, personal and professional development, and reflective practice. The physician advisor attests to the students' competency report is representative of the feedback that the students receive. Supporting Medical Students Kendalle talks about working as a physician advisor. She shares what she has learned in this role. One aspect she has realized is that people are often used to being self-sufficient, making it challenging to ask for help or to work in collaborative environments. She explains what some students struggled with in terms of peer-to-peer interaction, challenges of the assessment system, and accepting that there will always be areas of improvement. Kendalle helps normalize expectations for students. She also talks about the connections between her work as a physician advisor and as a family physician. The Partnership Aspect of Medicine When Kendalle first thought about becoming a doctor, she initially had an idea of being able to fix things, but now she appreciates the partnership aspect of medicine where she accompanies people along their path. She mentions that there is often a difference between the textbook ideal treatment and what's best for the patient in front of her. She explains that medicine is a team sport, and group work requires trust and collaboration, and while she didn't like group work in school, she realizes that, in medicine, no individual can do everything, and doctors rely on others to answer phones, send messages, and process refill requests. By understanding and addressing these challenges, doctors can help their students navigate the challenges they face and become better doctors. Counseling and Family Medicine Kendalle talks about how family medicine and her approach to counseling has evolved over time. During her residency, one afternoon a week was dedicated to mental health, in addition to didactic sessions, she had two hour-long patients, supervised by a family physician and psychiatrist. Over the course of her residency, she had an increasing number of clinic sessions to see an increasing number of patients with various physical and mental health concerns. She learned that some people just want to share their feelings without wanting to change anything. She shares a story of a patient who was upset about a situation, and although their conversation was not health related, it helped Kendalle support the patient in figuring out next steps. In addition to counseling, she also learned to use tactical phrases and questions to help patients make decisions that align with their goals. This approach allows for more effective communication and understanding of patients' needs and concerns. Creating a Safe Space for All Patients Kendalle discusses the importance of understanding and addressing various health issues in healthcare settings. She shares her experiences with the stub toe theory, which is really "broken arm theory,"  which is when a doctor attributes any concern with which a patient presents, to some other risk factor (smoking, obesity, gender identity). She also discusses the importance of considering factors that can affect health in interacting with patients. She shares a case of a woman with previously well-controlled blood pressure whose blood pressure was high. Kendalle uncovered a social stressor.  Kendalle emphasizes the need to consider different priorities and the reasons behind people's decisions regarding their health. She avoids asking the question "why" and instead asks "what factors contributed" to the patient's decision or thoughts about their health issues. This approach helps patients feel less defensive and allows Kendalle to better partner with patients to manage their health. Confidentiality in the Doctor's Office Kendalle explains that she is often the doctor for more than one generation in a family,  and she shares a story that stresses the importance of confidentiality in the doctor's office. She also talks about how difficult it can be when extended family members want to become her patients, but the fact that the family entrusts the doctor with their loved ones is special. She also talks about the trust, gratitude, and grace shown by the patients, and how these are the moments that stay with her. Influential Harvard Professors and Courses Kendalle mentions history professor Michael McCormick, who helped her develop confidence in analyzing primary sources from medieval and early modern Europe. She also mentions fundraising for CityStep by organizing a formal event in Memorial Hall. Kelly and Mark discuss this unforgettable episode. We Hope you enjoy it!  In “A Place to Die,” the twelfth episode of Season 5 of Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, Dr. Michaela Quinn faces a crisis when a mysterious staph infection spreads through her clinic, causing the deaths of several patients. The episode begins with Franklin, a railroad station worker, dying from the infection after treatment for a splinter, followed by Mr. Jacobs, who succumbs after a hernia operation. Dorothy Jennings, treated for a minor cough, also falls gravely ill but survives. As fear grips Colorado Springs, townspeople avoid the clinic, suspecting it as the source of the outbreak. Dr. Mike, with help from Sully, Colleen, and Dr. Andrew Cook, investigates and traces the infection to contaminated items within the clinic, particularly the linens, after Mrs. Yung contracts it while cleaning sheets. Faced with no other solution, Dr. Mike makes the heart-wrenching decision to burn all the clinic's contents, including her books and diplomas, and fumigates the building with sulfur to sterilize it. Though the town remains wary, Sully's successful treatment for stitches begins to restore trust in Dr. Mike. Meanwhile, the episode explores the growing romance between Colleen, home from college, and Andrew, adding a lighter subplot amidst the medical drama. The story highlights Dr. Mike's resilience and the community's struggle with fear and loss in the face of an invisible threat. Director: Alan J. https://vimeo.com/1082256535?share=copy When we feel overwhelmed, we are susceptible to freeze in place, curl up in a ball and hide, please others to make the conflict go away, or just start swinging. We are either incapable of making a clear decision, or we rush into decisions that end up being rash and miscalculated. We've been bombarded with a flood of change and destabilization from the outer world, and we have lots stirred up within that needs resolution so we can hear our inner guidance. Without moving ourselves into a centered, grounded space, we can easily be thrown off by others' judgments into self-doubt and confusion. In this mini series--Chaos To Clear Aligned Action--our intention is to support you to move you from overwhelm to clear aligned action in 5 weeks. This series begins May 14, 2025 on Wednesdays at 12p ET / 11am CST / 9am PT. REGISTER HERE: https://bit.ly/3RSVxQ5 Full details at www.kerrihummingbird.com/events Here is the flow of the mini series: - Week 1 - The Outer World (May 14). What is causing overwhelm from the outer world and how are you responding to it? We will get you in your body, grounded to Earth, and supported by the animal ally Sachamama to transform all that no longer serves you. - Week 2 - The Inner World (May 21). What reactions are stirred up inside you from the outer world? What shadows and emotions have been activated? What stories is your mind spinning? What old wounds and traumas have been triggered? We will work with the animal ally Jaguar to mulch all heavy energies, transmuting them into wisdom and light for your ascension. - Week 3 - Aligning to Self (May 28). How do you know what's true for you in the middle of everyone's opinions? We will explore the ways that different Human Design authority types find the truth, we will learn about the Fifth Agreement of Discernment, and we will work with the animal ally Hummingbird to open up access to our soul's intelligence. - Week 4 - Right Action (June 4). To know right action we must first know our own perspective, and then we must be able to see the bigger picture, the context within which we exist. With our Sacred Yes, we must then move into the right action to take to express ourselves. We will work with future focusing to see three ways to respond to a situation, and project ourselves into the future with animal ally Eagle/Condor to see the ripple effects. - Week 5 - Bringing It All Together (June 11). This class will help you move through a situation causing overwhelm to process your inner reactions with Serpent and Jaguar, center and ground in YOUR truth with Hummingbird, and fly with Eagle to see the choices in front of you. The series includes a private Telegram chat and recordings of all classes. Dr. QuinnCast: The Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman Podcast

Kelly and Mark rave about the 3-minute short Dr. Quinn, Morphine Woman, a hilarious parody we both adore and wish had more like it! Release Date: December 3, 2014 (United States), available on platforms like Prime Video. Director: Lauren Palmigiano (credited as LP). Writers: Lindsay Kearns (written by) Beth Sullivan (credited for characters created, as she was the creator of the original Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman). Producers: Dan Bernstein and Eleanor Winkler. Cinematographer: Jonathan Nicholas. Cast: Jane Seymour as Dr. Michaela Quinn Joe Lando as Byron Sully Jonelle Allen as Grace Orson Bean as Loren Bray Geoffrey Lower as Rev. Timothy Johnson Henry G. Sanders as Robert E. Charles Baker (known for Breaking Bad's Skinny Pete) in a cameo. Runtime: 3 minutes Production Company: Funny or Die, a comedy content platform known for satirical skits. The short humorously subverts the family-friendly tone of Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman (1993–1998), which starred Jane Seymour as a compassionate doctor in the Old West. In Dr. Quinn, Morphine Woman, Dr. Quinn has turned to prescribing morphine, cocaine, and whiskey, addicting the entire town. The parody mimics Breaking Bad's visual and narrative style, with Quinn adopting a Walter White-esque persona, complete with dramatic close-ups and a drug-lord attitude. Key gags include Quinn forcing morphine on a patient with a minor injury and a Breaking Bad-style title card. The original cast's return adds nostalgic appeal, while the exaggerated premise pokes fun at gritty TV reboots. Critics and fans found it a clever, if brief, send-up of both shows. The film has a 7.2/10 rating on IMDb and is lauded for its sharp satire and the cast's commitment to the absurd premise. It's a niche but entertaining piece for fans of the original series or Breaking Bad. What up, Beasts. This episode of Unveiling the Beast was pure soul fuel. I sat down with the radiant Tylynn Mackenzie, a modern day medicine woman whose healing powers stretch across lifetimes, literally. From massage therapy and Reiki to past life regressions and astrology, Tylynn's work is all about helping people peel back the layers of pain, trauma, and old patterns to uncover their truest selves. And y'all know that speaks to my whole brand. Those protective layers we build up over time? She's helping people shed them with intention and grace. Her story of escaping an abusive relationship, discovering massage as a path to heal her own body, and then letting that path crack open all her other spiritual gifts? Goosebumps. Straight-up goosebumps. We also got real about postpartum healing, how our society fails moms, and why self-care isn't a luxury, it's survival. Tylynn reminded us that healing is never one size fits all. It's layered, it's messy, and it's sacred. She beautifully explained how modalities like Reiki and astrology aren't just “woo,” they're tools for self-discovery and empowerment. And listen, if you've ever felt like your soul's been here before, her take on past lives and soul patterns might just blow your mind wide open. This episode was like a warm hug, a wake-up call, and a cosmic pep talk all in one. So if you're feeling stuck, disconnected, or just curious about what your body's trying to say, this is your sign to tune in and start unveiling your own beast. As always, I hope something lands with you today. I hope something you hear tugs at your heart strings and/or I hope you laugh.Bio: Tylynn Mackenzie is on a mission to experience radiance in her body, mind, and soul while helping her fellow humans shine at their fullest capacity as well through a variety of modalities. She is a multifaceted healer- a massage therapist, a reiki master, an astrologer, a tarot reader, a yomassage teacher, an akashic records reader, a past life regressionist and a modern day vision singer practicing shamanic techniques. In 2015, massage therapy school was her catalyst into the world of healing. She graduated in May of 2016 and has been on her healing journey ever since! She is trained in Swedish massage, deep tissue, trigger point release, prenatal, gua sha, cupping, reflexology and energy healing. She utilizes her intuitive gifts of clairsentiance and clairvoyance with all of the modalities she practices. The more awareness humanity has of our divinity, of our soul purpose, of our karmic imprints, and of our innate gifts, the more our world heals. Westward expansion has been mythologized onscreen for more than a century—and its depiction has always been entwined with the politics and anxieties of the era. In the 1939 film “Stagecoach,” John Wayne crystallized our image of the archetypal cowboy; decades later, he played another memorable frontiersman in “The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance,” which questions how society is constructed. On this episode of Critics at Large, Vinson Cunningham, Naomi Fry, and Alexandra Schwartz trace the genre from these cinematic classics to its recent resurgence, marked by big-budget entries including “American Primeval,” which depicts nineteenth-century territorial conflicts in brutal, unsparing detail, and by the wild popularity of Taylor Sheridan's “neo-Westerns,” which bring the time-honored form to the modern day. Sheridan's series, namely “Yellowstone” and “Landman,” often center on a world-weary patriarch tasked with protecting land and property from outside forces waiting to seize it. Sometimes described as “red-state shows,” these works are deliberately slippery about their politics—but they pull in millions of viewers from across the ideological spectrum. What accounts for this success? “Whether or not we want to be living in a Western,” Schwartz says, “we very much still are.”Read, watch, and listen with the critics:“Yellowstone” (2018–24)“Landman” (2024—)“Horizon: An American Epic” (2024)“American Primeval” (2025—)“Stagecoach” (1939)“Dances with Wolves” (1990)“Doctor Quinn, Medicine Woman” (1993–98)Laura Ingalls Wilder's “Little House on the Prairie” series“The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance” (1962)“Shōgun” (2024)“The Treasure of the Sierra Madre” (1948)“Oppenheimer” (2023)New episodes drop every Thursday.
