The boys have only gone and bloody done it! A superb Ollie Watkins goal at the death, and an all-round improved performance sees England reach their second consecutive European Championships final, and first on foreign soil. After sleeping off a mild hangover, Simon, Matt & James gathered to discuss another memorable night of England fandom, and the tasty prospect of a Sunday final against an impressive Spain side. Matt also launches a campaign to record the final episode in whatever state we're in after the game; all in favour raise your hands... The Cricket references continue for one more week as Gareth Southgate survives a late scare reaching his landmark tonne, edging into the Euro 2024 semi-final in the process. As ever, it wasn't straight-forward but Bukayo Saka and his equally unflappable penalty-taking pals booked England a Wednesday night date with the Netherlands. On this one, Simon, Konny and Matt discussed the highs and lows of another nail-biter and had to pull the 'It's Coming Home-o-meter' out of its box for some updated readings. Enjoy! We're starting to think that we'd be better served following the cricket team in the T20 World Cup you know? Jokes aside, Simon, James & Matt did convene to talk about England's latest uninspiring performance in the goalless draw with Slovenia. Yes, the group has been topped but it has hardly been convincing. On a positive note, there's talk of encouraging contributions by Kobbie Mainoo and Cole Palmer plus a lookahead to a Round of 16 tie on Sunday (not against the Netherlands as anticipated) in what is a hugely favourable side of the bracket! As one Twitter user cheekily suggested on Thursday evening, you could imagine that Gareth Southgate is inclined to strap on the protective headgear on an indoor exercise bike, such was the risk averse manner of the 1-1 draw against Denmark. His England side went into their shell after going ahead, and never really reappeared. The next day Simon, Konny and Matt unpicked an uninspiring performance and speculated whether it would result in a shift in tact for the last group game against Slovenia. There's also a fleeting guest appearance from James who was less than impressed at the full-time whistle. Currently, England are great on paper, but not so great on grass… If you're a fan of the It's Coming Home podcast, please review and subscribe! As the kids (and Rio Ferdinand) would say, Jude Bellingham is very much 'him'. England's superstar midfielder proved that once again as Gareth Southgate's men snuck by Serbia on Sunday night. After a day to gather their thoughts, Simon, James and Matt discussed the differing viewpoints on England's performance in the media and online, as well as how some of the manager's most-talked-about selection decisions panned out. The main headline is England sit top of the group, but there are definitely things to work on! If you're a fan of the It's Coming Home podcast, please review and subscribe! Good news! England are into the knockouts with relative ease after a 3-0 victory against Wales in which Marcus Rashford, as Good Morning Britain described it, "booted in two goals" whilst Phil Foden "saw in one more". Awful terminology aside, it was a comfortable win and a much more impressive performance from Southgate's side, and one that Simon, Josh & Matt were more than happy to discuss the day after. Also on this show, there's a recap of England's group stage as a whole, a festive World Cup Quiz-thing and a look ahead to the prospect of Senegal on Sunday.Enjoy! If you're a fan of the It's Coming Home podcast, please review and subscribe! After 25 long years, Gareth Southgate managed to exorcise his Germany/Wembley/Euros demons by leading his England side to victory against the old rivals on Tuesday night. With that last 16 win, the Three Lions have booked a Saturday night date in Rome with Ukraine in the quarter finals and, whisper it, a potential run to a Wembley final looks promising. The next day, Matt was joined by Simon, Ben and Josh to see just where everyone is on the 'It's Coming Home-o-meter' and relive the rollercoaster of emotions that we all went through together. They were already through before kick-off but England needed a confidence boosting win and got it against the Czech Republic on Tuesday night. The win means that Southgate's men face second place from the so-called group of death but Wembley advantage in front of 45000 fans beckons next week as opposed to an away day. This time around, Simon, Matt and Josh are looking back at the action, discussing interesting selections, the plus points of returning influences and trying to decide which of the big boys we'd prefer to face! There's also the usual sticker action and a special England music-themed quiz. If you're a fan of the It's Coming Home podcast, please review and subscribe! After all the hype and excitement in the build-up, England couldn't quite deliver on Friday night at Wembley against the old enemy from up north. Scotland frustrated Gareth Southgate's team and had their chances to win it, too. The next morning, Matt was joined by Simon and James to go over what went wrong, who performed and who didn't and discuss whether we should be worried about the rest of the tournament now. Or is it all a cunning plan and part of Project Finish Second?! There's also a quick Czech Republic preview and the usual sticker and quiz fun. For the first time ever in a European Championships, England got off to a winning start with another 1-0 win against Croatia! Once a couple of hangovers were sufficiently overcome, Simon, Ben, Josh and James went over what was a pain-free afternoon at Wembley in the end before looking towards Friday and the battle of Britain tie against Scotland with a fair deal of excitement. We also touch on the awful incident involving Christian Eriksen on Saturday night which has thankfully ended with the Danish midfielder alive and well.On a positive note, it's very clearly coming home isn't it? Following a slightly surprising call by Gareth Southgate to name a 33 man provisional squad for the Euros on Tuesday, Simon, James, Ben and Reece got together to discuss the noteworthy omissions and inclusions. We also came up with a list of 7 players that we think should be the unfortunate ones to not make the plane/coach/barge.
On our second and final England Squad Debate, Matt quizzes Simon and two more fellas called James on who makes their 26 man squad for Euro 2020. There's also some more sticker book action and another intense edition of Matt's Incredibly Hard England Quiz.
