POPULARITY
FPL managers were left shocked to see popular picks like Erling Haaland, Phil Foden and Hugo Ekitike on the bench in Gameweek 23, while other, less well-owned players racked up the points
On the review of the weekend football Suj and James reflect on yet another Gameweek where FPL points were hard to find and it all began before deadline with leaks that Erling Haaland and Phil Foden would not start for Manchester City. Trouble was, that for those who has the info, a change in captaincy didn't necessarily bring reward. So, with Mo Salah back, is dropping Haaland a genuine consideration? Aston Villa, Bournemouth and Chelsea all won and will have interest in their assets, and so too will Manchester United assets following their win at league leaders Arsenal. There was more frustration for James as Tottenham failed to win (and nearly lost at Burnley), but Suj's West Ham did make it back to back wins, trouble was Nottingham Forest one too. All the games and all the key FPL talking points covered. Check out the Blue Moon Podcast Annual 2026: https://www.patreon.com/collection/1882955 ========== Another pair of victories, as Manchester City put in perhaps their most controlled and dominant performance of the season against Sunderland... and then had to dig in and get the job done at Real Madrid. David Mooney is joined by City fan Ciaran Murray and, from the Daily Mail, Jack Gaughan to discuss both of those matches. Dan Burke is on the show looking at Phil Foden's return to form and hearing what both the player and his manager said about the tough times he endured in the last 12-18 months. Trying to get to the bottom of why Manchester City lost control of two games against 17th and 18th in the table when they had a comfortable lead in both matches is, from Sporting News, Dom Farrell and, from Football365, Sarah Winterburn. They join David Mooney to discuss the chaos of the games with Leeds and Fulham. They also take a look at City's 'tactical time out', which has drawn attention this week. Did they actually benefit from the huddle at the side of the pitch when Gianluigi Donnarumma went down against Leeds? Is it more concerning that Leeds still equalised after it and the momentum in the game didn't change? Then, at Fulham, in all the madness, Erling Haaland broke the Premier League record to become the fastest player to score 100 goals in the competition. That and Phil Foden's recent form is up for discussion, too. With Sunderland up next, Ant Waterson from Roker Report speaks to the show about what to expect from their visit to the Etihad, and with Real Madrid also coming up there are fears of what might happen if City don't tighten up their grip on matches. ========== To get more podcasts or to listen without the ads, join our Patreon. Phil Foden is proving a popular purchase for FPL managers after his consecutive double-digit returns
Suj and James discuss the games and fallout from a dramatic Gameweek 14 so far as Manchester City won 5-4 away, Villa (found improvement) to win 4-3 at Brighton, Arsenal won again but it was a bad night for Chelsea at Elland Road and Liverpool were again underwhelming as they drew with Sunferland. The City victory saw Erling Haaland walk away with three attacking returns but the headlines for Fantasy owners were more about the returns for Phil Foden who now has more FPL points in his past two than the previous 12 weeks. Should non owners steam in? Before buying the prospect of further rotation for assets should be considered in a week where predictably many players were given a rest, but perhaps it was more than just a rest for Mo Salah as he was benched again. The good news is the midweek rotation can be turned into an advantage in many scenarios in a week where everyone should be making at least one transfer ahead of receiving five free transfers in GW16. All the games covered, James has an enabling transfer on mind and even managed to come away from St James's Park with a dramatic late draw. In our latest Leeds, That! podcast episode we dive into the Manchester City 3-2 Leeds thriller at the Etihad (29 Nov 2025). The Whites produced a spirited comeback from 2-0 down – goals by Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha – only for Phil Foden to sweep home a late winner in stoppage time. Was it a harsh defeat or a sign of real progress? We break down the drama and full context. We analyse Daniel Farke's tactical switch to a 3-5-2 at half-time that sparked the Leeds fightback. Calvert-Lewin's impact off the bench (including winning the penalty for Nmecha's equaliser) and City's response – including Foden's early strike – are all on the table. This is your full Premier League reaction: from Leeds' resilience to how they matched up against Guardiola's superstars. With fan passion and humour, we debate whether the performance gives us belief – or just more heartbreak.

The mood was good... and then Newcastle and Bayer Leverkusen happened. David Mooney is joined by Paul Hirst from The Times and, from the City Ramble podcast, Amos Murphy to try and work out what on earth went wrong this week. Pep Guardiola made ten changes to the team for the Champions League and the performance was pretty disjoined... He admitted afterwards it might have been a misstep, but did he also not get much help from the players he gave opportunities to?
